Removing object to reveal text

Afternoon All
I have a piece of footage where a car mechanic opens a bonnet to revel the cars engine. It's a wide angle with the mechanic in front of the bonnet (if this helps). I'm looking to reveal text underneath the bonnet as it is lifted and the mechanic moves out of shot. Is this doable?

It's too bad the mechanic has on a virtually black jumpsuit; your task would be sooooo much easier with a lighter-colored one.  Any chance of re-shooting with lighter clothing?
Here's why: there is almost ZERO difference between the jumpsuit and the interior of the engine compartment.  Your task becomes one of animating a mask that moves precisely as the jumpsuit moves on a frame-by-frame basis.... but how do you tell where the jumpsuit ends and the engine compartment begins?  With a lighter-colored jumpsuit, Rotobrush could do the chore in several minutes... as opposed to the days it would take you to get the mask right.
If you can't re-shoot, you could TRY Rotobrush, but I don't predict much success.  Rotobrush is pretty darn good at separating subject from background, but it can't work miracles; it appears that this shot as shown to us would take a miracle.
And of course, what Mylenium, Rick and Todd have told you is take-it-to-the-bank true.  I merely point out a way that the job could be made much easier.

  • Can an InCopy editor add, remove and edit a text frame placed inside the main story text frame?

    I think I already know the answer to this which is - no. I'll explain why I am asking the question in a second, but the reason I think the simple answer is no is because - text frames are controlled by a designer in the layout file, an editor using incopy can only edit the text and images placed inside text frames, and so cannot resize them, add or delete them.
    Ok, so the reason I have asked this.
    Is there a way around this so that editors in incopy can edit certain types of text frame that are contained within the main text frame? I'm using these text frames to contain specific paragraph styles, giving them a boxed look and also with an anchored icon in the top left of the text frame depending on the type of paragraph it is. See screenshot as an example of a green text frame that I am using to contain paragraphs of type "tip".
    If it is not possible for editors in incopy to add, edit or resize these text frames (green tip frame in the example above), then how else can I style these paragraphs to give the same visual appearance, but without the use of wrapping them in a text frame?
    One (not so good) way around this is for the designer to add the text frames in the layout file after he gets the content back from the editor, then moving the "tip" paragraphs into these newly created text frames. However when the editor updates the content in incopy and gets these new text frames in their copy, they can not then delete them if they wish to, or if they add or reduce content inside of these green text frames then the frames dont grow to fit their edited content. So I dont think its a solution for the designer to control the adding, removing and resizing of these frames.
    UPDATE: I have just discovered that once a text frame has been placed into the document by the designer and the editor updates their copy in incopy-  they can then use the "Position Tool" to select that text frame - allowing them to resize it, or delete it! Fantastic. But would the editor be able to add these frames in themselves to begin with? Maybe have a document containing all of the objects available to them, copy and paste one of them into the main document and edit its content? Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this? Essentially I would like the editor to control the insertion, editing and removal of these inline text frames.

    True. But when all I am trying to achieve is a border around a paragraph, use of a table seems overkill to me. But if thats the only solution I have so far then I will have to go down that route.
    It would be useful to have an object libraries panel in InCopy so that editors can drag across predefined text frames into their doc via InCopy, but I cant see that option in InCopy. is there one? I have also thought about exporting the frames as seperate InDesign Snippets and saving them to an objects folder, then when an editor needs to insert one into their doc they simply use File > Place > "Choose required text frame snippet". However I have found that InCopy can't place InDesign snippets so that theory was a failure. Is there another format I could use to save the objects and bring them into InCopy? List below shows my findings so far for trying to save/export a text frame from InDesign and then import into InCopy:
    InDesign Snippet (.idms) - can't import into InCopy
    InDesign Document (.indd) - imports content as an image - only editable in InDesign
    InDesign Template (.indt) - imports content as an image - only editable in InDesign
    InDesign Library (.indl) - can't import into InCopy - no panel available in InCopy for object libraries (that I can see...)
    InCopy Markup (.icml) - only imports the text, loses the text frame

  • Turn an slide with objects (hide/reveal) interaction into quiz result?

    I have a slide with some interactions.  The user will click yes/no and an object will reveal.  Can this be turned into a quiz--or at least be tracked?
    Thanks!

    Reporting accordion is in the Properties panel for each interactive object: button, shape button, click box, Text Entry Box, interactive widget (or interaction). You can find it just below the Timing accordion.
    I forgot to ask which version you are using.

  • ConcurrentLinkedQueue remove(Object o) always fails in ActionListener?

    Hi,
    I tried to write a tiny program where if I click a button, the right String is removed from a ConcurrentLinkedQueue.
    However, it doesn't work at all. To troubleshoot, I tried other ConcurrentLinkedQueue methods such as add(), offer(), remove(void). They all work fine except remove(Object o).
    According to doc, remove(Object o) works if o.equals(e). So I also overwrote equals(Object o). It still doesn't work.
    This is a pesudo code:
    class a extends JFrame
    public ConcurrentLinkedQueue<String> queue;
    public JTextField text;
    public JButton button;
    public ActionListener removeAction=new ActionListener()
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
    //Supposing it's string "StringA" in the text box GUI.
    queue.remove(text.getText());
    //false. Can't remove String "StringA" from queue.
    public a()
    queue.add("StringA");
    queue.add("StringB");
    queue.add("StringC");
    add(text);
    add(button);
    button.addActionListener(removeAction);
    Can anyone help me with it?

    1) There's a huge glaring bug in a significant public method that's been in general use for several years and you're the first one to find it.
    2) There's a huge glaring bug in a significant public method that's been in general use for several years and others have found it before, but nobody bothered to fix it.
    3) There's something wrong with your equals method.
    4) There's something wrong with the code where you call remove.
    5) There's something wrong with how you're determining that the object has not been removed.

  • Add/Remove Programs - export to text file?

    Hello,
    I am wondering if it is possible to export a list of everything in add/remove programs to a text file for inventory purposes.
    I have not found any easy method to do this short of copying reg files or installer 3rd party software.  Since the idea is to save time neither of those are viable solutions.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    You could try this vbs script that lists installed programs and add info to a text file.

    You can't. PS will always rasterize a PDF and as a result when saving you effectively save a pixel image that will almost always be larger than the original.

  • List implementation where remove(Object) is fast?

    Does anyone know of an implementation of the java.util.List interface where the the method boolean remove(Object o) is much faster than traversing through the list until it finds the right one? Perhaps something that takes advantage of the hash code of the object being removed?
    Thanks

    So you want a List that acts like a Map?
    Couldn't you just use a Map?
    Explain your problem domain better and we shall help
    you see the light.
    Well no - I would simply like a List that acts like a List, and whose remove(Object) method is faster than just scanning through each element.
    I only mentioned use of the hash code as one way this could be implemented. To expand on that: Currently the LinkedList class internally maintains a list of Entry objects. Each of these objects has a reference to the previous and next Entry and the 'current' list element object. The problem is that the remove(Object) method has to go through each Entry one by one, searching for a list element that equals the object to be removed. To fix this problem the list implementation could also maintain a HashMap whose 'keys' are the list elements and whose 'values' are a (secondary) list of Entry objects associated with that key. Now the remove(Object) method could use the object to be removed to look up the 'list of associated Entry objects'. The first Entry in this (secondary) list is the one that needs to be removed.
    But perhaps it's best if I describe the overlying problem: I want to write a program that randomly generates integers at the rate of about 10 per second. For each integer the program should calculate how many times in the past hour that number has been generated. What's the fastest way to calculate this?

    Dear Pauline,
    while creating PO, if you want to remove the info record text, the simplest way is to remove the info record number from that particular line item in PO creation. This will remove all the entries copied from info record.
