Removing old CS files

We recently upgraded from CS1 to CS2. Now my applications folder contains both CS and CS2 folders for each application. Can I remove the CS folders without any consequences?

Yes. But to double check put the CS folder in the trash - don't empty it yet. Now run all your CS2 programs. If all runs well empty the trash.

  • How to remove old backup files from time machine? Lion OSx

    Hi everyone,
I am just wondering how to efficiently and safely remove the old backup files from time machine? I tried once with command, but it damaged my extra-disk... Does Lion OSx have fixed that?
    Many thanks
    Hong

    Blue-
Time Machine will automatically delete back-ups as the need for space arises. If you want to delete a certain file (application, document, whatever) and have it gone for good you can do that as well.
The best place on the web for information about Time Machine is...

  • Is it Ok to remove old .plist files remaining from deleted software?

    Hi Folks,
I'd appreciate some thoughts from some of you experts here.
I''m doing some house cleaning of my OSX Mountain Lion and have found some old .plist files in my preferences folder, that remain after the software was removed long ago. For Example, I found some old Color Munki files remaining from when I tried a Color Munki unit for a week or so and sent it back, unstalling alll of its associated software.
Any harm in throwing these in the trash and emptying it?
And I guess on a more general basis can old files left over from deleted software be removed as well?
    Many thanks

Installing 3rd party apps can affect permissions on system files and folders. Running Repair permissions ensures all system files permissions are set to what they should be as listed in the BOM, stored in Library/Receipts.
If you can provide me one argument as to why that isn't worth doing, I might let you keep that chicken's head...

  • Can you remove Old Backup files from Time Machine sooner?

So I'm aware that the default settings state that Time Machine will start to delete old backup files from your saved destination once that destination starts to approach full storage capacity. But what if you are not looking to fill up most of your storage capacity with Time Machine backups? Is there a way where you can cut the delete threshold in half and have Time Machine delete old backup files sooner rather than later?

See Pondini's TM FAQs, for starters.

  • Removing Old Adobe Files?

After restoring a backup onto a new computer, I transferred a bunch of adobe files onto my new computer but photoshop did not work. I finally got it installed by downloading a trial and putting in my serial number, but it seems that a lot of these old adobe files were not affected by the install (when I click get info, it says it was modified a while ago)
Should I delete all traces of adobe and then try installing again to be sure I have no excess files? Or are these necessary? I'm on a mac, running mavericks.

It can't hurt to make sure you have a full, fresh install.
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
If you do choose to clean up via the above tool, I'd suggest deactivating it first via the Help - Deactivate menu.

  • IDVD8 to iDVD6 - Once remove old app files (themes) will I lose anthing?

I think the problem lays with Last.fm. I had the same exact problem as you. In your processes screen, end the task "lastfmhelper.exe" Last.fm still scrobbles. The tracks don't skip, although I notice there is still a bit of a lag in the first part of the song - but if you can deal with that, no skipping. I think you will have to end that task everytime you boot up your computer, or uninstall last.fm completely until they fix it; it is a bug in their software, as opposed to iTunes.

  • BerkeleyDB not cleaning up old db files

    Good morning.
We've been noticing a scenario where BerkeleyDB is retaining (not removing) old db files. These files are well outside the largest window for data retention (over a month old, where the longest window for data is 7 days). There should be no active data in these files. As they are starting to take up signifcant disk space, I'd like to investigate possible methods for manually removing them.
Note that modifications have been made to the pruning & cleaner thread settings and they are now keeping up with active data. I'm primarily concerned with removal of these old, inactive files.
As we see it, there's a few options.
    1. Manually rm the files which are known to be outside the longest window
    2. The old files can't be cleaned up by the cleaning/pruning threads for some reason, but there is a utility which can clean them up which we don't know about?
    3. The old files can't be cleaned up by the cleaning/pruning thread, there is no utility, and we actually will need Oracle to investigate.
    Any thoughts?
    Many thanks!

I'm also having this problem. I'm using Flash Builder 4.6, AIR 3.4 and I've made a DLL (e.g. ExtensionDll.dll) which needs to call functions in another DLL (e.g. DllUsedByExtensionDll.dll) . I've made sure my ANE is working with the ExtensionDll.dll already, so there are no issues with my actionscript code or my ANE packaging or my DLL compilation. However, once I start calling functions from the other DLL, it starts throwing me Error #3500. Even if I call this function (e.g. abc()) in ExtensionDll.dll, but I never actually use the function from actionscript, and I call another function (e.g. def()) from actionscript, the Error #3500 still appears, so it does not seem to depened on the whether the code is used or not.
    It's similar to this problem.

Does anyone have a solution or at least a way to debug this?

  • Upgraded to C4, removed C3 - now can't open old C3 files with C4

    Hi,
I have been using demo version of C4 and upgraded today.
My system automatically opened C4 files with C3 first of all so decided to remove C3 from my sytem.
Now i can't open any of my old C3 files in C4.  what heppens is C4 says it needs to reformat the project so it can be used in C4 as expected.  The system goes away and does it stuff but no differnt file is produced. I try to open the original C3 file and have to go round same loop again with no success.
Please Help as i can't do any work until i can open files.
    Thank you, Ellen

    Hi Julie
The post you replied to was apparently spam. I've deleted the post and reported the person that posted it.
If you are still seeing issues, please report this to Adobe as a possible bug. (Link is in my sig)

  • Software update is stuck at "Removing old files"

Last night Software update informed me there were a few things to update.  (I believe Safari was in there as well as a couple of things I was not using)
No reboot was required, so I started the install.
My system started really slowing down and was painful after a while.  I shecked and Software Update was "Installing 3 items" and "Removing old files" - this was about an hour after starting the update.
Well, that was about 16 hours ago and it is still in the same state and with the same message and the same spot on the status line.
I am reluctant yo force quite Software update as I do not want to cause instability.
    Any ideas?
(Or is it OK to force quit when it is just at the "Removing old files" stage?)
This is on a MacBook Pro

You have no choice but to force a reboot and see what happens.

  • HT4007 I have just transferred all my raw, jpeg & tiff files into LR4 and using to opportunity to delete old raw files to free up disc space. How can i completely remove a raw file from my msc disc??

I have just transferred all my raw, jpeg & tiff files into LR4 and using the  opportunity to delete old raw files to free up disc space. How can i completely remove a raw file from my mac disc??

I'd be careful here: LR references files. It can copy them, like from an SD card to your hard drive, but it doesn't necessarily make duplicates. So when you say you "transferred" those files "into" LR it just means you referenced existing files. And if you delete those they're gone, unless you've made copies. LR does not import files by copying them into a managed library like Aperture does.

  • How to remove the old context files after upgrade to R12.1.1

    Hi,
    I upgraded 11.5.9 (DB 9.2.0.4) to 12.1.1 (DB 11.2.0.2).
In the Applications Manager under AutoConfig menu, I noticed that I have 4 context files: 2 for DB Tier and 2 for Apps Tier. Apparently two of them are old from the 11i system. How can delete them so I have two listed on this page. I need to add custom parameters. When I tried to do it, it errored out saying "Customization is not allowed on different versions of configuration files.".
    Thanks,
    Sinan

Make sure none of the old context files are available on the servers (delete them), also make sure you have proper entries in the FND_NODES table.
For the error you get, please see these docs.
Create a Custom Parameter Fails With - Customization Is Not Allowed On Different Versions of Configuration Files [ID 762590.1]
CUSTOMIZATIONS NOT ALLOWED ON DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF CONFIGURATION FILES [ID 351969.1]
    Thanks,

  • Outlook 2003 old Data File can't be removed and can't set up up iCloud sync with Outlook

I had an issue with Google Calendar Sync after installing iCloud so I tried to remove my iCloud install.  When I go into Outlook 2003 it shows a Data File that exists with the iCloud name, but when I click on remove it comes back with "Äre You Sure....", I click yes and then an error states "The Requested Operation Failed." Then I try to click on the Settings Tab and I get the error "Än Unknown Error Occured, error code 0x8004011c".  The Open Folder tab is grayed out.  If I click on the E-mail tab, no iCloud email exists.  Hence something is lingering but I cannot get rid of it.
When I go into the iCloud Control Panel the Mail, Contacts, Calendar and Tasks with Outlook is not ticked.  If I try to tick it and then apply the changes, it goes through the set-up for a few seconds and then returns an error box entitled Outlook Setup for iCloud with an error message Outlook Setup Error with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside of it.  The options are "report", "try again" and "cancel" - all which are useless and don't do anything.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can remove this Data File that supposedly exists within Outlook.  I have searched the c: drive and there is nothing by the name it states.

Sorry...I have been looking at this for too long.  It is actually Outlook 2007.
I actually have already removed the calendar, tasks, etc from Outlook as your last paragraph outlines, but it doesn't help.
I have hoping to avoid the uninstall / reinstall, but I was leaning the same way.
Thanks for your response.  Let me know if you think of anything else.
