Removing or replacing system resolutions

I have finally purchased a replacement mini for use with my HDTV. I've gotten all the custom resolutions (overscan correction) created and installed using DisplayConfigX. It looks great.
My problem is that I can't get rid of those "standard" resolutions that OSX is always providing. Things like 640x480, 640x480 (stretched), 720x480, and 1024x588 (?). These resolutions do not work with my HDTV, and I want to avoid any application attempting to select them (the g-force visualizer for instance). There is a selection in DisplayConfigX to "Disable system resolutions for this monitor" but it doesn't.
Does anyone know of a way I can remove these resolutions or at least prevent them from being selectable through the display preferences?
  Mac OS X (10.4.8)

SwitchRes X allows you to disable resolutions. As far as I know it doesn't remove them. It just doesn't allow them to be selected. I haven't actually used that feature so I can't confirm that it works as advertised. I am just noting that it is there.

  • Is anybody using RDX Removable Disk Backup System

    I´m sorry, this a new post about an old discussion but I would like to start a fresh dialogue for today; 2011.
    Is anybody using RDX Removable Disk Backup System (with or without T.Machine).
    An affordable alternative to LTO tape? Proved compatibility with Mac OS?
    Is it possible to insert a RDX drive as a second optic unit inside a Mac Pro?
    Any happy RDX+mac user, so far?
    Thanks.

    I'm not using RDX on a Mac, but I do have one client I'm using RDX for a Windows server.  While RDX is somewhat cost effective over LTO/Ultrium, IMHO it probably wouldnt' be the best for Time Machine.  Time Machine expects the previous backup to be online and if you switch cartridges, TM would have to create a new backup from scratch.  Then if you switch back the cartridges, your TM bundles are out of sync.  I'm not saying it's not possible, but that this is not the "normal" way TM works.  So you need to understand what you need to do if you were planning to switch cartridges.  (If you weren't planning to switch cartridges, then a "normal" external or internal hard drive is more cost effective than RDX.)
    RDX cartridges are basically 2.5" SATA hard drives.  The RDX "drive" is, for the most part, just a SATA to USB converter.  (Or SATA to eSATA or whatever interface you get.)  On the PC the advantage is that you don't have to "safely remove hardware" and you don't lose the drive letter.  On the Mac, a "normal" external hard drive is almost as convinient as RDX, since there's no drive letter to worry about.  The RDX's advantage on the Mac would be not having to plug/unplug a USB cable on the external units.  I suppose you could get an internal eSATA RDX to put into a Mac.  I don't know of anyone doing that.
    I did use my client's USB RDX drive on his Macbook, just to see what we could do with it.  While it worked, we didn't do extensive testing so I can't comment on long term satisfaction with OSX.  But so far it's been reliable with Windows for almost two years.  (Windows Server 2008 with Backup Exec 2010.)  However since RDX is basically just a hard drive, I've gotten the client to realize that in a year or two, we'll probably have to start replacing cartridges, assuming his data size doesn't grow beyond the RDX capacity.  This is based on the assumption that the RDX cartridges would have similar longevity to laptop hard drives, which have 3-5 year warranties.  We probably will get more lifespan than that, but better to have the client plan in the budget now, rather than have backups fail.

  • HT4889 Replacing System hard drive with a new one. How to get everything over to the new boot drive?

    Replacing System hard drive with a new one. How to get everything over to the new boot drive? Should I use Carbon Copy or does apple have a better untility to do this?
    I can't get my current system drive (OSX 10.8.3) to start on the first try. I always have to shut down and restart again to finally see the Apple logo.
    Have used disc utility to repair the disc and permissions several times and that works. The next time I boot up, it works fine and I get the apple logo, but then the second time I boot up, it's back to the blank screen again and it only boots after the second try.  I have tried this repair three different times now always with the same result. Works right the first try (after the repair) then from the second time on it doesn't work. I just get the white screen until I reboot a second time.
    Thinking I should change drives but what's the easist and best way to move everything over to the new drive so it will boot correctly with all my data on it. This is the system drive for a Pro Tools 10HD setup. MacPro 3,1 with 16 gigs ram and OSX10.8.3 on it.
    Thanks for any help!

    If you have a time machine back up of your current drive you can do this
    Shut down your computer, install the new drive. While the computer is off plug in the external hard drive that you have your time machine back up on. Hold Option key while the computer turnes on, let go of the option key once you get a grey screen. Shortly after you'll see  a list of bootable drives, select the one that has your time machine back up on it and boot into that drive.
    From there go into disk utility, format your new drive too, osx extended journaled ( I think, double check that, its been awhile since ive had to do this), hit format
    Exit disk utility and then you can use time machine to copy all your exisit data to the new hhd and then your pretty much done.
    There is also a program called Carbon Cloner that will do esentially the same thing however I've never uesed it.

    I have replaced my system hard disk drive on a Mac Pro and used Mac 'Restore' to restore the complete system from a Time Machine backup. • Removal of legacy system

    Dear Experts,
             My client is a chemical manufacturing industry having PP-PI in place.
    An legacy system (3rd party software) is in place, taking care of production related inputs by end users & through it data flows into SAP for process order creation & further operations through XI.
    Now client is willing to remove the legacy system & want these inputs through another screen into SAP itself.
    The process is as follows--
    1. Client is using the legacy system with a user friendly screen for entering the production related data i.e.Date,Material Code,Qty,Lot size,Product serial number etc.
    2. With this information process order gets created into SAP automatically through XI.
    3. Raw material inventory gets updated into warehouse at the time of goods reciept against purchase order.
    4. This is the only information being fed by the user.
    5. After creation the process order automatically get confirmed at two operations(Phase level) & produced material gets inventorise into a intermediate store location in SAP.
    6. From that location user pics up the material & QC gets done (another QC Z screen provided into SAP,without having QM module)
    7. Here user checks the Quality of goods & pass the OK & fails/Reject the downgrades & send back to production for rework.
    8.Finally grade wise inventory gets maintained into SAP FG store location ,from where deliveries can be made with reference to sales order.
    Now question is ,as after entering data into legacy system ,there is no user intervention into SAP.
    All trasaction including process order creation is getting in background (is it through some BAPI??)
    Which are the tables ,into which the process order related data is getting updated after creation???
    Pls update....
    Regards

    Hi Vikassharma,
    Well even the same problem i faced in the last company and the problem is while i am generating control recipe it was picking the Old data which was created by the third party.
    After one month we find out the actual problem and we decided to delete the Legacy data created by third party OK.
    Then, we decide to archive the old data and then informed to Basis team i hope it can help you OK.
    or There will be Mass transactions (MASS T-CODES) to delete the data but you need the permission or access to that T-code.
      I hope it can help you OK.

  • Poor print quality until I remove and replace each toner cartridge

    I have an interesting situation that seems to have manifested itself recently. This is pretty reproducible.
    The printer is in sleep mode
    A color job is sent to the printer and the resulting print has no color and faded black and white
    If I open the front panel and remove each cartridge, not even fully remove, and replace with itself, the color and quality is perfect.
    Calibrating, diagnostics, etc. have not helped. Printing of the diagnostic page, or color bands, etc. yield the same results.
    The paper comes out warm as it always has. The toner doors all open.
    So, any ideas? Next steps to try?
    Thanks,

  • Dynamic system resolution for portal published BI content

    I have a Dev-Tst-Prd ABAP stack BI landscape with a corresponding Dev-Tst-Prd Java stack portal landscape.
    My BI developers create reports and webdynpro applications which are then published to our portal and made available via iViews.  These iViews refer to the target applications via URLs which contain hardcoded hostnames and port numbers.  This makes it a pain when portal content is transported from Dev to Tst and then to Prd.
    All my BI systems are known by the SAP_BW alias.  I have a different system definition in each portal for the SAP_BW alias pointing to the corresponding BI backend.
    Can I use dynamic system resolution for this?  If so, how?
    I want a URL like http://<devhost.domain>:<devport>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appname to be transportable.  Obviously if that starts out as http://dev.mycompany.com:8100/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appname, it won't work when it arrives in tst where it needs to be http://tst.mycompany.com:8110/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appname.  If I could store the URL as something like http://<%JSP SAP_BW %>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/appname this could be transportable if there was something in dynamic system resolution to resolve the variable appropriately at runtime in each system.
    As a Netweaver administrator, rather than a portal developer, I'm a little lost as to where to even start.

    Success!  Thank you for your help.
    What finally worked?
    Create a Portal Component iView of type com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap
    Set URL Template to http://<System.wap.ITS.hostname>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/zcs_wd_cc_app
    Set System to SAP_BW (where SAP_BW is an alias for the System entry for the system where we want the WebDynpro app to run)
    Where did the help come from?
    SDN (Mr Nicholls in particular)
    SAP Help (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/21/dfd241cb76c417e10000000a155106/frameset.htm in particular)
    Where did the parameter value reference come from?
    The "wap.ITS.hostname" attribute name came from the portal's system definition for SAP_BW.  Under System Administration -> System Configuration -> System Landscape -> Portal Content the entry for the SAP_BW system can be displayed.  In that system entry there is a field labelled SAP ITS host which contains the fully qualified hostname and port number for the ITS server delivering my application.  Expanding the detail of this field (click the arrow head beside the name) shows its Property ID to be wap.ITS.hostname.
    So this last answers my earlier question about where to find the valid contexts and attributes per context for the variables to substitute in the URL template.  The contexts are the names of the fields available to configure the iView, the attributes are the Property IDs of the relevant information fields in the obect described by the context.
    Note:  This solution ended up only being required for WebDynpro content.  The generated URL for WebDynpros appears to resolve any load-balance ITS URL to a specific host and port before publishing, the method here leaves the resolution until runtime - a great advantage in performance and flexibility.
    The Web Application Designer published report content was generated in a transportable form already.

  • How do I programmatically remove a Windows system font with LabVIEW?

    Is there a way to programmatically remove a Windows System Font?
    Thanks!

    If you know the font name, you should be able to just use the Delete function. On NT, Win2K, the fonts are stored in the WINNT\Fonts folder. I think you'll have to have admin rights to delete files there.

  • Dynamic System Resolution issues

    hello forumers,
    i'd like to implement a Dynamic System Resolution scenario, on an EP7 sp14.
    based on the examples i've found on the sap web site, i ve created some content (R/3 transaction Iviews using an alias "SAP_SRM")
    I tried to change the target R/3 server, based on the group to which the user belong !
    i've created a portal service : portalapp.xml =
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <application>
      <application-config>
        <property name="releasable" value="false"/>
        <property name="startup" value="true"/>
        <property name="ServicesReference" value="com.sap.portal.usermanagement,com.sap.portal.ivs.api_dynamicSystemService"/>
      </application-config>
      <components/>
        <registry>
        <entry path="/runtime/alias.mappers/SAP_SRM" name="DSRPortalService" type="service"/>
      </registry>
      <services>
        <service name="DSRPortalService">

            <property name="className" value="com.airbus.DSR.DSRPortalService"/>
            <property name="startup" value="true"/>
          </service-config>
        </service>
      </services>
    </application>
    and a service called DSRPortalService:
    public String getAlternativeSystem(IUser user, String alias) {
              String pcdLocation = "pcd:portal_content/SRMSystems/";
              String system = "xgi";
              String userName = user.getUniqueName();

    this can happen, if you use destype=screen instead of destype=preview. screen uses the screen-fonts for rendering while preview uses the definitions ment for printing.
