Removing Oracle components

What is the easiest way to remove the Oracle Installer? The Installers <= v3.3 tell me I don't need to deinstall it but I want to. Are there registry entries in NT? The new Oracel Universal Installer won't let me deinstall items installed with previous installers.
What about removing a second Oracle Home? In the registry under the HKLM\Software\Oracle hive, I have ALL_HOME, ORACLE_HOMES, HOME0 and HOME1 trees that seem to relate to multiple homes. Does Oracle have a utility to remove a home or am I dreaming? Thanks.

The only way I have ever found to get rid of oracle installer is to delete Oracle from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE in the registry. Then go and delete the OraNT or its 95/98 equivalent from you hard drive. This of course will delete all "32 bit" Oracle software from you workstation. It will also not delete/revert the files replaced in SYSTEM32.
I am sure that this is not Oracle' recommended course of action but I have done it dozens of times and have never had an adverse effect.

Is there any utilites provide by oracle to do so?

There is a utility called "oradim" in windows environment to manage services. Look at the help by typing "oradim/h" in the command prompt and follow the syntax.

  • Remove Oracle

    Hi ,
How can I remove Oracle S/W and Database completely from Windows and Linux machines.
    Thanx in advance.

    WARNING:
    1. Remove all Oracle components from your computer only as a last resort,
and only if you want to remove ALL Oracle components from your system.
    2. These instructions remove all Oracle components, services, and registry
entries from your computer. In addition, any database files in the
subdirectories under ORACLE_BASE\ORADATA\ are also removed.
    3. These procedures will also remove Oracle network configuration files,
user written scripts and any other user generated files that may be stored
    in Oracle_Base directories.
    4. Exercise extreme care when removing registry entries. Removing incorrect
entries can severely compromise your computer.
MANUALLY REMOVING ALL ORACLE COMPONENTS AND SERVICES FROM YOUR COMPUTER
    A. Removing Components on Windows NT/2000.
To remove all Oracle components from a computer on Windows NT/Windows 2000:
    1. Check privileges:
1.a. Ensure you are logged in as a user with Administrator privileges.
    2. Stop all Oracle services (if any are running):
2.a. NT: Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Services.
2000: Right click My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications > Services
2.b. If any Oracle services (their names begin with Oracle) exist and have
the status Started, select the service and click Stop.
2.c. Click Close to exit the Services window.
2.d. Close the Control Panel/Computer Management window.
    3. Remove the entries in the Windows registry:
    3.a. Start the registry editor:
    Choose Start > Run > regedt32
    3.b. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE
Note the value of the key INST_LOC, this is the location of the Oracle Universal
Installer. The default location is C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory. If this
value is different, make note of it, so we can delete these files later.
    Delete this ORACLE key.
3.c. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC and expand all subkeys and
remove all keys under here which are related with the
    "Oracle ODBC Driver"
3.d. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and remove
all keys under here that begin with ORACLE or ORAWEB.
    3.e. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\...
\Application and remove all keys under here that begin with ORACLE.
    3.f. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
and remove any entries related to Oracle.
3.g. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, remove all keys that begin with Oracle, OraPerf or
    OraOLEDB
    3.h. Close the registry.
    4. Clean up the environment settings:
4.a. NT: Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Environment tab
    2000: Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > System > Advanced tab >
    Environment variables.
4.b. At "System Variables" click on the variable PATH in order to modify
the value. For example, you may see a path similar to this one:
    C:\ORACLE\ORA81\BIN;C:\PROGRAM FILES\ORACLE\JRE\1.1.7\BIN
4.c. If an %ORACLE_HOME% was installed, remove this %ORACLE_HOME%\BIN path.
4.d. If JRE was installed by Oracle, remove the JRE path.
4.e. If there is a CLASSPATH variable under "System Variables", first make note
of the path defined, then delete it. This variable can be added back at
    a later date if needed.
4.f. Check if there are any other Oracle variables set in "System Variables",
ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID or TNS_ADMIN. If these exist, delete them also.
4.g. Click on APPLY and OK.
4.h. Close the Control Panel window.
    5. Delete the software and icons:
5.a. NT: Choose Start > Programs > Windows NT Explorer.
2000: Choose Start > Programs > Accessories > Windows NT Explorer.
    5.b. NT: Go to SYSTEM_DRIVE:\WINNT\PROFILES\ALL USERS\START MENU\PROGRAMS
    2000: Go to SYSTEM_DRIVE:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU\PROGRAMS
(Note: These locations depend on whether OS was upgraded from NT,
or this was a fresh install of 2000)
    and delete the following icons:
    - Oracle - HOME_NAME
where HOME_NAME is the previous Oracle home name.
    - Oracle Installation Products
5.c. Go to SYSTEM_DRIVE:\Program Files\Oracle or the location of INST_LOC as
noted earlier in step 3.b and delete this directory.
5.d Go to SYSTEM_DRIVE:\Temp and delete all files and directories in here.
5.e. Go to the drive where the Oracle software is installed on your machine
and delete all ORACLE_BASE directories on your hard drive.
5.f. Close the Windows NT Explorer.
    6. Finish the removal:
    6.a. Empty the recycle bin
Right click on recycle bin > Empty Recycle Bin.
    6.b. Reboot your computer.

  • Deinstall oracle components from the software tree

Is there any way to deinstall unneded components from the oracle software tree? For example - I need to remove - Oracle Advanced Security and Oracle Label Security.

Why do you need to uninstall them?
Just because they are on disk does not mean they are necessarily in the database. DBCA can be used to verify that.
But if you want to deinstall on disk, see Support note 171155.1 and 472937.1

  • On my MacBook with Lion Safari does start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library did not help. Where can I find and remove all components (LastSession ...)?

How can I reset Safari with all components? On my MacBook with Lion, Safari does not start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library does not help. Where can I find and remove all components as LastSession and TopSites?

The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running v10.7 Lion is to restore OS X using OS X Recovery
Instead of restoring OS X in order to reinstall Safari, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If it's not an extension or plug-in issue, delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • How to uninstall oracle components silents using oracle universal installer in oracle client 11.2.0.3.0?

    Hi,
I have installed oracle client 11.2.0.3.0 silently using the response file with INSTALL type as runtime. I want to remove  'Oracle sql developer' from the installed products. Using Oracle Universal Installer I am able to remove this component in GUI. Please provide me the silent switch to remove this component. I have tried with DEINSTALL_LIST property , but I am getting an error that 'no products selected for deinstall'. Please suggest on this.

    Pl post your OS details
AFAIK, SQL Developer is not included in the Oracle Client install - it is a separate install. You will have to follow the instructions for uninstalling SQL Developer - check the docs for your specific version of SQLD - Oracle SQL Developer
e.g. for 3.1, see Installing Oracle SQL Developer

  • How to find the installed oracle components( oci , occi) versions?

    Hi,
could you please help me to find out the version of installed oracle components?
ex: which version of OCCI installed?
one way is using OUI gui tool.
I also got this info from oracle inventory file.
    under $ORACLE_HOME/inventory/ContentsXML/comps.xml
But is there any best way or command to look for the same.
    Thanks,
    Krish

The "best way" almost certainly depends on why you're looking for the information and what tool(s) you're using.
If you're asking a human being to get the information, the OUI is generally going to be "better". If you're writing a program to get the information, parsing the inventory XML is likely to be "better".
If you have multiple Oracle Homes on a single machine (particularly Oracle Homes with different major Oracle releases), though, or you have various failed/ incomplete/ obsolete installations on various machines, or if you're trying to figure out which version of the libraries would actually get used when a particular application starts up (assuming there are multiple applications on the machine), things start to get rather trickier.

  • Removing pligin components from JCAPS5.1.0?

    Hi,
We are using JCAPS5.1.0 and we have set up repositry ,in which we
have installed some of the components like LDAP eWAY,Swift OTD
Library,Weblogic eWay,but we are not using those components in
our project, hence we need to remove this plugins from
repositry. But we are not able to find any way to remove those
    components,
If anyone have removed/uninstalled the plugins components from
repositry please let us know how to do the same...
    Thanks.
    Renga.S.

This might defeat the purpose a bit of removing all the components, but you could try justa dding an empty panel to the JSplitPane, so when you remove you previous Components try
    splitPane.removeComponent(bottomPanel);
splitPane.setBottomComponent(new JPanel());This should get around the resizing but kinda defeats the purpose!

I just went through this with Oracle support. The only solution is to replace the logo.gif file with 1X1.gif (copy 1x1.gif to logo.gif). That gets rid of the Oracle logo, but not the box, nor the copyright statement.
According to Oracle support this is by default and cannot be modified. They claim to be concidering this for a future release.
Let me ask, Are you running this as a portlet within a page? or as part of a dynamic page or calling it alone?
If you are calling it alone, run it as a full page, and choose a template that has minimal formatiing. I think it is called portal_template_example1 ??
If you are running it a portlet in a page, edit the page region and uncheck show portlet headers.
If you are running it as part of a daynamic page then you can run it by using the run as a stored procedure example (manage, show)
but nothing else io the dynamic page will show.
If you you have more questions, e-mail me.

    Some non oracle components are:

    Print Servers,

Is there a document on which non oracle components can be monitored in the EMGC and what can be maintained with these components?
    Regards,

Take a look into Plug-ins, there are some none-oracle ones pre built by Oracle and others.
There's a forum about Extensibility in the current category here.
Also, for further extensibility, the new Connector Framework looks interesting, see the OEM Integration Guide.
