Removing page borders when printing

I seem to be stuck. I'm attempting to print a 4 page spreadsheet in numbers, but it keeps putting about a 1 inch page border around the pages so each page runs on to the next. I cannot find a way to adjust the size of the border in Numbers. Is this even possible? If so, how do I go about doing it? Thanks in advance.
Cheers.

It may be surprising, but the Numbers User Guide available to every users from the Help menu describes (page 42) the use of Inspector > Sheet to set the margins.

  • Remove grid lines when printing

I am trying to print a set of financial statements and do not want to see the grid lines when printing the final document. I cannot work out how to do this.
Some posts I have read say that grid lines are described as cell borders and suggest that they can be removed using the inspectors "cell borders " facility.
I have tried to do this but cannot make it happen. If I were to successfully remove the borders/grid lines then surely this would also remove the underlines I have inserted with great effort.
I would really appreciate anyone's help with this

One more time, it's useful to use our brain before stating a task.
If I read well, you used some cell borders as an underline segment.
Now you pay the result of a bad design.
You have no way to remove only borders which aren't "underlining" ones.
Next time think before and use the Underline text attribute so you will be able to remove the grid easily.
I know that some spreadsheets have two structures :
    grid
    borders
But, those which took time to read the User Guide know that in Numbers there is a single structure :
    borders.
So, remove or hide grid means remove or hide borders.
When we work with a tool, we may ask it what it is designed to do, not what we guess it will be able to achieve.

  • Reader 8 omits lines/borders when printing docs

I'm using Acrobat Reader 8.1.3 with Vista.  When I select PRINT, all the lines and borders are present in the preview/composite pane of the print window, but they are not present when the page prints out.  All other alpha-numeric characters are there.  What's the deal??

I tried changing Markups/Stamps, but that didn't help.  What I did find, however, is that if you go into Advanced in the print window and check the box "Print as image", then all the lines and borders will print just fine.  I don't know if this is the ultimate correct answer, but it worked for me.  The forms I was trying to print were the tax forms such as the Form 1040, etc., at the irs website (irs.gov).  This has also happened to me when printing PDF maps where certain symbols and icons on the map do not print out for some reason.  Thanks for your help!!

  • Page truncated when printing a transparent color with Windows 2000

    Hi,
We use the JDK 1.5.0_11 in a Windows 2000 SP4 platform with 2GB of RAM.
When printing a transparent color on a large page with a Windows 2000 platform,
    - The printed page is unexpectedly truncated (the bottom of the page is not printed) or
    - Even worse, the operating system crashes with a blue screen.
Notice that we neither have any exception thrown nor any log written !
Notice that this problem never occurs with a Windows XP platform !
The problem can be reproduced as follows:
    1. Run the sample below,
    2. The "Page Setup" dialog is opened,
    3. Select a large paper size such as A2 or A1,
    4. Press the "Ok" button,
    5. The "Print" dialog is opened,
    6. Select a printer which can handle this paper size,
    7. Press the "Ok" button,
    8. The printed page is unexpectedly either truncated or the operating system crashes.
If you do not have a printer handling such large paper sizes,
the problem can still be reproduced using the latest version of "PDFCreator".
Could anybody provide us with some hints ?
Thank you very much for your help ...

  • Discoverer Plus - Problem with Page Orientation when printing pdf's

    Hi,
When printing pdf's in Disco Plus I have a problem:
My workbooks are a mixture of landscape and portrait pages.
I am printing the entire workbook and then using cutepdf to produce a pdf.
If I print to paper I get the correct landscape/portrait settings.
If I print to pdf then landscape pages appear vertically when I view on screen so that the text is running from bottom to top of the page.
So it is picking up th portrait/landscape settings from the individual worksheets but cutepdf has not realised that the pages are landscape so they appear on the screen vertically.
This was not a problem on discoverer desktop so I am confident that this is not a problem with cutepdf.
    Any thoughts?
    Justin

    Thanks 2257648922,
    Version details are as follows:
    OracleBI Discoverer 10g (10.1.2.3)
Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2.55.26)
    Discoverer Model - 10.1.2.55.26

    End User Layer - 5.1.1.0.0.0

    Oracle Database 10g Release 10.2.0.4.0 - Production

So I assume that means my version doesn't have the bug you mention.

  • PDFMaker changes page orientation when printing to pdf

Hi all! I am praying for an answer. My job requires me to convert huge word documents to pdf using the pdfmaker add-in with acrobat Professional 8.1.3. My problem is as follows and has occured in two seperate documents. I have Microsoft word 2007 and run on a VIsta OS.
So my problem is when I create a pdf from word acrobat for some odd reason changes any page's orientation that contain excel spreadsheets that have been inserted (I believe through copy and paste and they are not linked to excel). Thus I get a page with a landscape spreadsheet with a profile orientation and it cuts off the information for my client. By the way, it does the complete opposite of whatever orientation I choose.
Here are some things I have tried: I tried saving document as a 97-2003 word file and create pdf from that version, I have changed the PDFmaker advanced settings for auto-rotate pages and tried all three options to no avail. I really need some help fast! I will love anyone who solves this problem for me.
    Thanks,
           Jason.

GREAT NEWS!!! I FIGURED IT OUT!!!!
Okay so after a lot of frustration and mountain dew I have figured this out, but first the problem is simpler then I listed it. So here is the actual problem:
I had a document with multiple sections and one section was oriented landscape while the rest were profile. When printing to PDF the resulting pdf file had all sections in profile and ignored any change in orientation and cut off/cropped out elements of the pages I had in landscape orientation.
    SOLUTION:
The solution to this problem is in two parts: 1) changing some print preview stuff in word, and 2) changing preferences in pdfmaker/acrobat ribbon. For this solution to actually work however you must have the landscaped sections sectioned off by inserting section breaks in word.
Step 1) Go to the section where you document orientation is changed from the rest of the document. Press the office button (in 2007) and drag down to print>print preview. You will notice that your section has now reverted to profile. (Ah Ha!) Change the page orientation to landscape.
"But wait, now my margins or elements are getting cut off" you say. Go to Page setup. Make sure that near the bottom it says "Apply to: This section"
Now make it landscape and this changes the margins to also be landscape.
Step 2) Click on your Acrobat tab and go to preferences. Under pdfmaker settings click advanced settings and as Bill and I have said change auto-rotate pages to individually.
    AND YOU ARE DONE!!!!!

  • Page Numbering when printing a multiple sheet document

I moved this post from Pages after accidentally posting it there earlier...
In considering an approach to solving a problem posted earlier today I thought about using the Continue (Page Numbers) from Previous Sheet setting in the Sheet Inspector to display a sequence of numbers on a series of sheets. All looked good on the live document, but when Printing to PDF or Exporting to PDF, I get the same first page number on each sheet. Further, the number on that first page depends on which Sheet was selected when I did the export. All pages and sheets print/export, it's just the page numbering that seems anomalous.
Let's say I have a document with three two-page sheets. On the live document, page numbers are 1 and 2 on the first sheet, 3 and 4 on the second sheet, etc. Just what I would expect. When printed to PDF or exported to PDF, I get 1,2,1,2,1,2 or 3,4,3,4,3,4 or 5,6,5,6,5,6 depending on which sheet is selected as I begin the export or print dialog.
Any one else seeing this? Is there a logical explanation for it? This is on a MBP with Snow Leopard. I haven't tried printing to paper to see what happens there.
    Jerry

    Hi Jerry,
Not the same results, but I did get weird ones.
    Using iBook & OS X 10.4.11.
Three two page sheets, each with a single table. Sheet 2 and sheet three produced by Duplicating Sheet 1.
    Live display shows pn/pc as
    1/6, 2/6, 3/6, 4/6, 5/6, 6/6
Preview (sheet 3 selected), created by clicking preview button in Print dialogue, shows
    1/6, 2/6, 3/4, 4/4, 5/6, 6/6
Preview (sheet 1 selected) shows same as above.
Preview (sheet 2 selected) shows same as live.
    1/6, 2/6, 3/6, 4/6, 5/6, 6/6
Repeating print to preview with s2, s1, s3 selected gives correct results each time.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • Keep recto/verso page placement when printing 'Multiple' pages on single sheet

    Dear All,
my book is designed for duplex printing. Every chapter starts on recto (odd) page.
When I need to print it for proofreading in the multiple mode (2 pages on single sheet), pages do not follow the original intent as the first page is placed on the verso page (left half of the sheet), not recto one (right half). I couldn't find any option to place the first page on the recto 'side' in the Print dialog.
My current workaround is to place one blank page at the beginning of my PDF file.
But I'd like to avoid this manual step in the future. Is there a more efficient way?
Btw, it would be nice to add a single option for this into the Print dialog. It could be handy for everyone.
What is the best place for such kind of feature request?
    Thanks, Jan

have no idea about what is wrong on your machine.
Here doing that I get a normal behavior:
    You may try:
    a - quit/close Numbers
    trash the preferences file:
    <bootVolume>:Users:<yourAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Numbers.pli st
    empty the trash
    restart Numbers.
b - try to do the job from an other user account
tell us how the beast behaves.

  • Page orientation when printing from iBooks Author

I have a iBooks document, all in portrait orientation. If I print this doc then it is printed in landscape even if I change the orientation to portrait within the printing interface. iBooks somehow is stuck to landscape when printing.
Who has got a solution to this?

Are you trying to ask for help in the forum or to file a bug?
I'm hoping that someone here has figured out how to control the orientation when exporting to PDF. I haven't been able to find a way to do that.
while there is no formal bug reporting method similar to what devs have w/apps, iBA does have a 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item.
Actually, there is: the Apple Developer Program. I have submitted a number of bug reports for IBA there, and have received timely and constructive responses from the development team.
Good luck and welcome to iBA.
I've been using IBA since it was released, as you well know.

  • How do I fix uneven borders when printing photographs?

I have been using Photoshop for many years to print photographs and never had a problem getting my selected borders to print evenly.  All of a sudden I have a problem with my printer giving me photographs with totally eneven borders - both vertically and horizontally.  How can I fix this?
Also, sometimes the clone stamp tool changes from a circle into another shape and the cropping tool turns from a # shaped tool to another icon tool (the same as the changed cloned stamp tool) which I don't like.  How can I get them to go back to go back to their original shapes?

Add the 2 pictures and 2 captions manually
Go to File>new>blank file. Enter width & height of your paper stock. Resolution should be (ideally) the same as that of the pictures. For printing, recommended range is 240-300px/in
    For picture #1, go to Select>all, Edit>copy.
Open the blank file, go to Edit>paste
With the move tool, position the picture, and resize with the corner handles of the bounding box. Leave some room at the bottom for the caption
Do the same for picture #2
You should have 3 layers: Background, picture #1, picture #2
With the type tool, type the text for each picture and position
You should have 5 layers now
If the canvas is niot large enough, you can add to it via Image>resize>canvas size.

  • (unwanted) White borders when printing on Epson 3880 in LR5 (not in LR4)

We have a customers who has been printing using LR4 for quite some time.
Since she upgraded to LR5, she has issues that regularly, she get quite large white borders around the edges (seem like the printer is printing to a smaller page size, the photo's are cut off).
When we import the same images, use the same printer, same driver and all same settings in LR5, all works fine.
Anyone had any similar experience ?
    Mavericks 10.9.3, latest Epson 3880 driver, LR5.4 ...
    TIA,
    Bart

Epson support was no help, giving the stock answer about borderless printing and setting margins.
I do not try to print all the way to the edge of my papers. I solved my problem by selecting the appropriate borderless paper size in the Epson driver and then setting the margins I wanted (0.25” on all sides) within Lightroom.

  • Page Layout when Printing slides from Keynote

I don't often print my Keynote presentations, but I would like to be able to print FOUR slides on one sheet (landscape format) with one slide in each quadrant or corner. All I can select --as far as I can tell-- is a single column with all 4 slides minutely scaled down the page. The slides are far toooooooo small to read. CAN I CHANGE THE LAYOUT FOR PRINTING SO THAT HAVE 2 COLUMNS OF 2 SLIDES EACH? Many thanks for your suggestions!

When I do Print > Handouts > 4 slides per page, it puts the slides stacked on top of one another (ie 1 column of slides, 4 rows). I assume you would want to have 2 columns of slides and two rows. I don't know how to do this in Keynote, but if you are in Keynote, just do a File > Export > PDF. If you are printing in color, I'd select Image Quality > Best. Once you have the PDF of the presentation, open it with Preview. From Preview, do a File > Print. When the Print "window" comes up, you select your landscape orientation. At the bottom of the window, you will see a dropdown option that says "Images per page" and select 4. This should do the trick.
Be careful when you do the export from Keynote to PDF. There are a lot of options to include or exclude page numbers, builds, etc. in the PDF.
    Hope this helps.

  • [Acrobat X Pro] File locks and page counts when printing

    Hi,
We have two users on Acrobat X Pro Win 7 X32.
On both systems they have the following issues.
    1) If they were to print only page 1 for example, they can set a page count of 5 copies and it would be fine. If later on they were to print page 10 and they would also like 5 copies, the page count has reverted to the default 1 copy. It doesn't remember the selection of 5 copies from the previous print.
    Is this a bug?
    2) File locks occur on all files even if they are specifically closed. The file lock is only removed once they close Acrobat down entirely. This has cause alot of problems. Has Adobe acknowledged this as a fault yet?
    Thanks.

Make sure the Preview panel in Windows Explorer is disabled.

  • Pages crashing when printing to PDF

I have a pages document with Chicago Style footnotes. Pages put the footnotes in automatically when I put footnote numbers in my text. When I try to print or export to pdf, Pages crashes. It creates the pdf file, but it is empty. It does not do this with other files, so i am assuming something in the footnote formatting is causing the error.

    Check the fonts used.
The last few System updates have installed faulty fonts including Hoefler Text and Franklin Gothic which have caused problems in Pages.
Update your system with the downloaded [Combo OSX 10.6.4|http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1048] updater to fix the problem.
