I am pretty sure it is because my computer gets disconnected from the external disk that all the media is on. This disk is attached to my time capsule. I wish I could make it so it would automatically reconnect with the disk after being disconnected, but I can't figure out how to make the external disk non password protected without making my network password protected also. Does that make sense? How do I make a disk so it is not password protected if it is on my password protected network? If my computer is on the network then I should be able to access discs without having to put in an additional password, no?

I have a lacie usb drive that I want to use to get video off a simple pc that I video surgery on. (I am a surgeon). I can't do anything to the software on the PC. I have previously set up password protection on the Lacie drive . When I put it into a PC the password dialogue doesnt get launched and the volume is never mounted. I would like to remove the password protection, - can anyone tell me how . Have spent ages with Disk utility and Diskwarrior.

I have a PDF file that is protected by a password. I tried almost all free online tools to unlock the password but they don't work. I know the password but online tools are showing the error: The uploaded file does not seem to be a valid PDF file.
Please let me know if there is any online tool or any software that can remove the password so I can share the file with others

Perhaps the file is not a .pdf file after all.
Anyway, .pdf files are generated by Adobe Acrobat, not by Windows. Checking the FAQs at the Adobe site is probably the best way to solve your problem. I would also run this test: Create my own .pdf file, apply a password, then remove the password.

If a website doesn't offer to store the password then chances are that it doesn't fill that password either if you use the "Saved Passwords Editor" extension. You can only use that extension in such a case as a reminder in case you forget the password.

I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I'm at my wit's end after wasting an hour and a half with an Adobe chat person who couldn't figure this out.
In previous versions of Acrobat, one was able to add pw-protection to multiple documents at once using the batch process, and conversely, one was able to REMOVE that pw-protection using a similar batch process. I now have about 150 documents that all have the same password, which I must remove because of the need for edits. In v. 11.0.4, however, this capability seems to have disappeared. The chat support person said the only way to do it was to create an Action, but then be willing to re-enter the pw for each and every file! 150 times! Surely we haven't gone backwards in this version?! Say it ain't so!
If anyone knows how to do this, I would be very grateful. It seems a shame that I would have to revert to an older version to get this job done (with the hassle of uninstalling/installing to boot).

Hi Dave,
OK I’ve downloaded your file and installed. The option Remove Security appears under the Encrypt action only if I have a file open and it will indeed remove the pw from that file and allow me to save back to the same file name. However I don’t see an option to add multiple files to the action, and if no file is open, the action is dimmed out. This is my last hurdle to getting this job done; can you point me in the right direction?

Is memory card in SD adapter in card reader on your PC, as there is a little slider on the SD adapter which you can slide to "lock" write protect?
You can also "password protect" a memory card in your phone.

If I set a password for my iWeb site, which is published to my MobileMe account, will its content be protected from search engines (Google, Bing, ..).
I want to make sure that whatever I put on that website remains private and only those with the username/password can access it.

It should do. If Google does not know that your site exists, then there is nothing to crawl or find.

Password Protection from Acrobat to Reader

I'm creating pdfs with security protection so that my users can enter a password to edit form fields. I can set the security password just fine in Acrobat, but when I open the pdf in Reader, it never prompts for the password. As a result, no one can access the level of security I specified, since there isn't a chance to enter the password.
Does anyone know why it's not asking for the password and how I can get that to happen? I posted this in the Reader forum and someone suggested it may be an issue on the Acrobat side.
If it makes any difference (it shouldn't!) Acrobat is on Mac and Reader is on PC.

There are two passwords.
1. An open password. This is needed to open the PDF file at all. Once
open, it has the set of permissions you chose for it.
2. A control password. This is NOT an end user password. It is your
own password, which you can use to gain access for editing the PDF
again. Adobe Reader can't edit, so it doesn't offer any choice to
remove this.

Hi, I am a new user on Dreamweaver CS4
Somehow I have made a website that has a pop-up screen asking for a username and password. In fact it requires my ftp username and password in order to view the site online.
I have no idea what I have done, can someone please help me remove the password protection? I have looked up permissions, passwords etc. and can't find anything that helps.
I am using a template as well, and can't see anything in the code indicating that the template page or the index page is private.
Please help me figure out how to fix this.

when people click on my iWeb08 site to view files stored on my iDisk, they are prompted to enter my iDisk password. how can i stop that from happening? do i have to turn off password protection on iDisk? if so, how? also, will turning off that password protection mean anyone can access my iDisk and grab my files?

It's not clear which iDisk folder your files are in. But there is a Public folder which you can configure to be password-protected or not:

For example, clicking on the following link will show an empty Public folder in Apple's demo .Mac account:

You can configure your Public folder's settings via the  menu +> System Preferences... > .Mac > iDisk+ tab.

How do I stop "Password Protect" from adding blank pages?

I have a pdf that I want to password protect. I choose that option under File/Form Properties/Pdf Security. As soon as I click "ok", I find that the document now has extra blank pages. I've tried playing with the sub forms but I can't delete the extra pages. What do I need to do?
