Removing  photos from iPhone that were transferred on to it as a USB file

Any Mac Pros out there? Having an iPhone issue.  When the update for 7.0.1 came out it effed up my phone. So with
Apples help I transferred all the data off my phone to a laptop. Once my phone was fixed I transferred all my photos back onto it. Only issue is that I can't edit or delete and of the photos and they are taking up a huge amount of space.
Any ideas of how to fix this?

The photos appear in an album titled USB photos. I can only select them to email or share.  There is no option to delete them.
If you transferred the files to the phone from a computer, the only way to remove them is to unselect them on the computer and resync.

You un-sync them by plugging the phone into the computer and changing the options for photo syncing in iTunes.

  • How do you delete photos from iPhone that were uploaded from computer?

I just activated my iPhone. I selected the option to upload a photo album (that contained almost 200 pictures) to the iPhone. I thought I would be able to keep certain pictures and delete the ones that I don't want afterwards. But I can't figure it out. Please tell me there's a way. I would like to either delete some photos, or the entire album if need be because its taking up a lot of storage. Please help. Thanks.

I'm posting this as a summary because the answers are in the above comments.
    1. Make a folder and put only the photos you want on your iPhone
    2. Set that folder to sync in iTunes
    3. If you want to remove one or more photo, simply remove the photo(s) from the folder and sync.
This is far less elegant than if you had some sort of photo album software that iTunes worked with. I think I read the Apple site listed Adobe photo album. If that is anything like iPhoto, you should be able to create multiple albums and sync those to your iPhone. As Jim suggested, I already created an iPhone wallpapers album and whenever I want to switch the wallpaper, I simply pick a photo from that album (they are all 320x480).
This same concept can then apply to nearly everything else that you sync.

  • How do I delete photos on my iPhone that were transferred from iPhoto to my phone?

I recently transfered most of my photos from my iphone to iphoto on my macbook. A couple of days later I transfered some of them back onto my iphone, but now when i look at them on my iphone there is no way to delete them there. Ive tried everything but nothing works. I simply cannot delete photos on my iphone that were transfered there from iphoto.
I thought apple was supposed to make things easier, but apparently not.

Correct. You need to Un-sync them using your Computer.
Basically do the opposite of what you did to get them on your Device.

How can I delete photos from iphone 4s after transferring from pc?

acapetown is the one who really solved this for me: his suggestion to create an empty folder and sync to that was THE ONLY solution that actually worked for my iphone 4s. Everything else about uncheckign "sync" and unchecking events DID NOT WORK. I think there is more than one glitch in this system because I noticed a lot of other people struggling with the question. Now my phone is light as a feather again and I can actually benefit from backup to the Cloud. Thanks acapetown!

how can  i remove photoes from iphone witout itunes ??????????/
( i sync photo by itunes , my pic not camera roll )

Pictures synchronized to your iPhone or iPad using iTunes can only be deleted by resyncing the iOS device with iTunes and unchecking the photos you don't want.

  • How do if recover deleted photos from ipad that were not backed up/synced? Had just downloaded and seconds later accidentally selected delete all.

Deleted photos that I just downloaded (minutes prior) and they were not synced to icloud. Any way to recover?

Since you have no backups, I suggest you use some recovery tool to recover deleted photos from iPhone/iPad. You can google it, there are many available.

The same way you put them there.  The sync process.
Deselect the folder in itunes and sync.
    or
Remove the photos from the selected folders on your computer and sync.
    or
Delete the photos from your computer and sync.

If they are in the Camera Roll then just press "edit" in the top right of the screen and touch each photo to be deleted - then press Delete - bottom right.
Photos in other albums cannot be deleted.  You have to remove them from the selection in iTunes sync.

You should be able to delete the photos by syncing with iTunes. Either remove the checkmark beside "Sync Photos From" on the photos page of iTunes or change the selection of photos to be synced. Each time you sync it is supposed to set the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current settings/selection in iTunes.

how do i remove photos and movies from Iphone to make more space

You can delete photos that you have taken with the phone by highlighting them and tapping delete.
If these are photos synced from a photo library (like iPhoto Library), those photos cannot be deleted from your photos app. Those must be removed by the photo library or "un"synced from your phone. I don't know why this decision was made by Apple, but that is something you have to do from the computer.

  • Iphoto remove photos from iphone not working

For the past couple months iphoto will not delete the photos from my iphone. It successfully imports them, prompts to delete, appears to delete but doesn't actually remove them. They are still on my iphone. iphoto recognizes that they have already been imported and asks to delete them again the next time I plug in my phone, I accept, looks like something is happening but they are still there. I've tried image capture as well and there is no way to delete off the phone in image capture. Help!?

Can it be, that you have enabled iCloud Photo Library (Beta) on your iPhone with iOS 8.1.3?  Then you can import photos from the phone, but deleting from Image Capture or iPhoto will not work, if the photos are in iCloud Photo Library.

  • Best way to remove photos from iPhone camera roll

what is the simplest method for removing a LOT of photos from my iPhone 5S camera roll. I am trying not to remove them one at a time.

So, I am a bit confused.  But, thank you for being succinct.  I appreciate that very much!
    1.  I have imported them to Aperture; so they are on my iMac.
    2. What I do not exactly understand is your next instruction: "your computer should read your iphone as a camera, you can navigate to the folders that contain the picture in your camera roll and select all and delete."
Could you walk me through that, please?  Just a tiny bit more explaining, and I think I will catch on!
    Many thanks!

  • How do I remove photos from iPhone 5 without their also being deleted from other devices?

I have albums on my iPhone and would like to delete them but, if I do so, they will also delete from my iPad, due to syncing through iCloud.  It seems, even if I turn iCloud off, temporarily, they will delete from the iPad next time iCloud is turned on.
I suspect that, even if I shift the albums to a flash drive, the same thing will happen.
    Thank you

I don't understand the difference between Photo Stream and Camera Roll.
Camera Roll is the "local" storage on your device, where photos and videos that you take get saved.  This can take up a lot of space, and since Camera Roll is part of your backup that makes your backup very large too.
My Photo Stream is the iCloud storage for photos.  This also takes up space, but not as much because they're not full resolution.  Depending on your device settings, when you take a picture it is saved in Camera Roll and then automatically uploaded to your My Photo Stream (for the purpose with sharing with other devices on your iCloud account).  My Photo Stream is meant to be temporary as it only holds the last 30 days' photos and only up to 1000 ... as these limits are reached, the oldest photos get deleted from iCloud.  Note that videos that you take do not get uploaded to My Photo Stream.
Think of Camera Roll as you would think of a digital camera, and My Photo Stream as a temporary cloud-based storage area for sharing.
So as roaminggnome says above, make a habit of transferring photos and videos from Camera Roll to your computer and then delete them from the device.  If you want to keep them on the device, still transfer and delete them but then make a designated folder on your computer for the things you want on your device and sync them back to your iPhone by telling iTunes to sync to this folder on your computer.

  • Need to remove photos from iPhone 4

I have 4011 photos that i took on my iphone and have sync'd to my imac. How can i remove them from the phone without doing a restore or deleting each one manually? seems like this out to be easy but im not that bright!

I thank you mightily. Been looking for that trick for a long time.
BTW, the delete key didn't work. After highlighting the photos I used a button on the bottom bar - a red circle with slash through it. I did get a confirmation to delete. Thanks again. Why doesn't Apple just tell us this in some organized way? Or better yet, just make it easier and more direct - a button in iphoto to delete the whole camera roll on the phone any time you want.
