Removing Photoshop Elements 9 caused missing lens profiles in Lightroom 3.3

After my trial on Photoshop Elements 9 expired I removed it from my Windows Vista system.  The next time I started Lightroom 3.3 I tried to apply a Canon lens profile to some new images and the profile was missing, not only was it not on the list, none of the 862 images taken with this lens had the profile applyed to them anymore.  I tried to repair the installation and it failed saying I was missing components.  I then tried to upgrade to RC 3.4 & it failed with the same message.  I finally thought it might have been caused by the removal of Photoshop Elements so I went to the restore point that it did prior to removal.  Now I have the lens profile back that was missing the Canon EF28-135mm profile as well as to the other 862 images.  My question is should there be anything else I should look for to see if it is missing or damaged?  Thanks - Larry

Larry,
The common part between LR and PSE is the Camera Raw part (ACR). It's settings are contained in 2 different locations:
1) General ACR configuration files:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw
This directory contains lens and camera profiles installed with LR
2) User related configuration files:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw
This directory usually contains:
Downloaded/created lens profiles
ACR defaults (like ACR cache size, any defaults set in LR)
Downloaded/created camera profiles
You might want to check the content of those 2 locations. One other alternative would be to uninstall and re-install LR, which should take care of the factory supplied profiles.

I am missing the color profile CMYK in the elements software I use.

Is there a setting I may change?
    Thanks for helping

If you only need to do this once, the easiest thing is to ask your printer to do it for you. They'll probably charge you something, but at least it will be done right. Properly converting to CMYK is considerably more complex than, say, converting from sRGB to Adobe RGB. There are a number of third party options for doing this--I think irfanview will do it in windows, and preview does it for macs, but those are pretty basic conversions that don't allow you to adjust for out of gamut colors.

  • Canon 60D w/ EF-S 15-85 IS USM missing lens profile in Lightroom 4

This is a Canon kit combination and it seems odd that it's not included in the Canon profile for lens correction.  The EF-S 10-22 IS USM is there which is not a kit lens and quite expensive.  Am I missing a step or do I have to download additional lenses from Adobe?  I'd rather not get into downloading someone's guess from the profile creator if I can avoid it.

It is included, but it's a raw-only profile.
There are also two on the downloader, one of which I produced.  It has nothing to do with guessing.

  • How to manually remove Photoshop Elements 4.0 from Windows

My uninstaller for Photoshop Elements 4.0 in Add or Remove programs fails with the message - "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed." The program folder still resides on my harddrive. The program itself neither runs nor will it allow me to delete the program files' Photoshop Elements 4.0 folder that contains the executable and dll files from my harddrive. I need a manual uninstall proceedure.

Have you got the disc? If so, you might try installing it again then an uninstall.
    Failing that...
Here's the Adobe tech doc on removing Photoshop Elements 5. I would assume it would be the same procedure.

  • I removed Photoshop Elements 9 and 10 from my laptop. It also removed parts of my version 12. I am not able to re-install verion 12. The install program keeps wanting to un-install version 12

I was cleaning up the programs on my hard drive and removed Photoshop Elements 9 and 10. I used Revo Uninstaller Pro to remove all the left over files and registry entries. Revo also removed parts of my version 12. I re-downloaded the demo version again as I already have the serial number. When I run the install program files my only choice is to remove version 12 and I'm not able to install

    Try this,
Run the cleaner tool. clean the product(if you see).
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Then Rename/delete all the Adobe folders.
The locations are: 64 bit computer.
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe.
    32 bit computer.
    C:\Program Files \Common Files\Adobe.
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe.
You also have Adobe folders in :
    C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Local\Adobe
    C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Locallow\Adobe
    C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\OOBE
    Then Re-install the product.

  • How do I remove Photoshop Elements help files?

    Greetings,
I removed Photoshop Elements 9, but the help files are still in Adobe Community Help 3.5.0.23. How do I remove the PSE9 files from Community Help?
    I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit.
    Thanks,

Thanks. Tried the FAQ before posting.  Perhaps you are better at wording a query; my attempts were unsuccessful. Am using the 30 day trial to see if I wish to purchase PE as the Oranizer function is my primary interest. Still would greatly appreciate some guideance so that I might proceed with importing contents of my HD as part my trial.

  • Installing Adobe Photoshop Elements Causes My Computer to Cut Out on Booting UP!

I have installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 on my new computer running windows 7 64 bit. I did not appreciate the problems. The first time that I installed it the computer shut down as soon as it was loaded and from then onwards it shut down within seconds of the computer booting up into windows. I used system restore to take the computer back to before Elements 10 was installed. The computer kept on switching off after windows had booted up. Took it into the technician who thought the PSU was at fault and he put in a new unit. The computer then worked fine until I installed Elements 10 and again the computer switches off as soon as windows as booted up. I have again used system restore to take the computer back to before Elements 10 was installed, still it switches off shortly after booting into windows. What can I do to get things to work properly?  I have a brand new computer that I am unable to use as a result of installing Elements 10. I am typing this on my old computer running Vista 34 bit with Elements 10 installed and all working well. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I have had a similar experience - Elements organizer crashed and even when not running, my computer froze after a few minutes.  My PC had never crashed before this installation.
    I found a solution though...
After a little sleuthing using task manager, I found that all the memory in my system (4GB) gets suddenly hogged (within seconds) by the "Elements Organizer" process (3GB) ... I found the service correspponding to this process, "Adobe Active File Monitor v10", stopped it and set autostart to manual.  My PC no longer crashes.
I think Adobe needs to look into this one - it has all the hallmarks of a nasty memory leak.
A couple of possible clues as to why certain systems don't take well to this service:
    - I have a few very large video clips (2hours+) on my PC
    - I installed trial products like light room, CS5 before settling on Photoshop+Premiere Elements - could leftovers after uninstalling cause conflicts?
    - I have other video editors on my system that I don't use, like Corel VideoStudio and Sony Vegas.
    Thoughts?

  • Photoshop Lens profiles in Lightroom?

There are so many more lens profiles in Photoshop, including one I need that is not in Lightroom. Is there a way to use or access those photoshop profiles without having to export or edit in photoshop?
    thanks in advance,
    J

If your camera supports RAW file format output (.raw, .crw, .cr2, .nef, etc.), you may be better served by using it. The benefits in LR to using RAW files go far beyond more available lens profiles. Here's a 'short and sweet' example:
    http://www.prophotoshow.net/2010/04/30/jpeg-vs-raw-example-conclusion/
Since you are already using LR (RAW image processing application) the only benefits of shooting JPEG are:
    1) You can fit more pictures on your memory card. Pricing today is dirt cheap and will only come down!
    2) You can shoot more pictures in "continuous" before your camera's memory buffer fills up and slows down shooting. So for those few occasions go ahead and shoot JPEG, but be aware of the limitations you will have later when processing the images in LR.
    3) JPEGs take up less space on my primary and backup hard drive(s). Again, hard drives are dirt cheap and will only come down in price.
In addition Adobe and other digital editing software developers keep improving their application's RAW file processing capabilities. So by saving your images in RAW file format you can benefit from these improvements in the future. The differences between LR 1.0 and 3.3 RAW processing are remarkable!
It's obvious you are serious about photography. If your camera doesn't support RAW file format output, you should consider one on your next camera purchase.

  • Missing Canon lens profile into lightroom

    Hi Guys
I have LR4.1 and I just realized that I am missing the one for my 100-400 f4,5/5,6
any idea how can I get it ?
    Many thanks
    have a super day, Thierry

It is possible to save a duplicate of the lens profile file, and "kludge" it from Raw to non-Raw using a text editor. This generally works well enough; much better than manual corrections alone - provided that the camera is not also applying lens correction, and so confusing matters.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 missing QtCore4.dll

Just installed Photoshop Elements 10 onto a 64 bit machine, made the mistake of using disk one initially, used the Windows control panel to uninstall the 32 bit Photoshop Elements 10 and then installed using disk two.
When I try to run Photoshop Elelements it says it can't start because QtCore4.dll is missing.
    What can I do now?
    George

I have since found several other programs stopped working, so used system restore to take my machine back a couple of days.
Everything now seems to work fine.
Why did the installation of Photoshop 32 bit go ahead on a 64 bit machine, when 32 bit Premiere recognised the difference and refused to install?

  • Bridge missing lens profiles

Hi there, for some reason my new copy of the latest Bridge seems to only show 6 lens profiles for nikon.
Bridge has been updated to the most current update but that didn't seem to help...
Can anyone shed some light on what the problem could be here?

Yes, you only get the non-raw profiles when you process TIFF/JPEG files. FWIW I get 8, so you might want to update Camera Raw anyway.
You might not know that there are a wealth of 3rd-party profiles out there, which you might find useful. You can easily search for them online in Photoshop's Lens Correction filter by clicking the ... erm ... Search Online button.
