Removing pops

I have read a few different posts on how to remove pops and they all start with selection the sound track and chooseing File-->Send To-->Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project, yet I can't get that to even be an option no matter what I try.
I have de linked things, and choose the tracks, singularly and together, I have had them linked, I have tried it every way I can think of and I did get the File-->Send To--> Soundtrack Pro Multi Track Project highlighted so I tried that, but then there wasn't anyplace I saw to Choose Anylze which you need to do to get to the pops.........
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
FCP 5.1.4, Soundtrack Pro 1.1, MacBook Pro 2.4 4 gigs, 10.5.4

HI gerryt,
You are right, of course.  I sometimes feel like one of those religious fanatics who want to murder someone for a book he's written, without actually every personally reading the book.  A classic phenomenon.
One day I will take a crack at FCP X.  I so use sequences to sort and catalogue at great speeds (without having to name clips), and then being able to build a sequence using spaces and blocks of clips (without having to create fillers, or whatever it is that FCP X requires) ...
But I will make an effort, at your encouragement.
My son tells me Adobe Premier now virtually mirrors the old FCP, with improvements; and says that after a week he wouldn't go back anyhow.  So that is my mental fallback.
I used your above suggestion to get rid of my pops.  The 'Silver EQ' did the trick, at 79 Hz.  The plug-in looks great, but expensive (when one is always looking at having to get new camera gear).
I love Logic.  Have been a faithful since way back when, on PC, with the Germans.  Apple (and the Germans) did an amazing job on the app., made it ever more friendly and efficient.  I've often mixed films with Logic, in fact it's my preferred method when there is time.  Soundtrack Pro is very efficient too ... though it seems a bit of a waste of a learning curve when one is already at ease with Logic.
Thank you very much for your help gerryt, all the best,
Ben

    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide and AdwareMedic.
Open Safari, select Preferences from the Safari menu. Click on Extensions icon in the toolbar. Disable all Extensions. If this stops your problem, then re-enable them one by one until the problem returns. Now remove that extension as it is causing the problem.
The following comes from user stevejobsfan0123. I have made minor changes to adapt to this presentation.
Fix Some Browser Pop-ups That Take Over Safari.
Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
    Quit Safari
Usually, these pop-ups will not go away by either clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
    Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.

From user Joe Bailey comes this equally useful advice:
    The facts are:
    1. There is no anti-malware software that can detect 100% of the malware out there.
    2. There is no anti-malware that can detect everything targeting the Mac.
    3. The very best way to prevent the most attacks is for you as the user to be aware that
the most successful malware attacks rely on very sophisticated social engineering
techniques preying on human avarice, ****, and fear.
    4. Internet popups saying the FBI, NSA, Microsoft, your ISP has detected malware on
your computer is intended to entice you to install their malware thinking it is a
        protection against malware.
    5. Some of the anti-malware products on the market are worse than the malware
from which they purport to protect you.
    6. Be cautious where you go on the internet.
    7. Only download anything from sites you know are safe.
    8. Avoid links you receive in email, always be suspicious even if you get something
you think is from a friend, but you were not expecting.
    9. If there is any question in your mind, then assume it is malware.

  • How to remove pop up adds

How can I remove pop up ads on my laptop?

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • How can you remove pop up ads

How can you remove pop up ads.

You installed the "SaveKeeper" adware. To remove it, please take the steps below.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of the date it was posted, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment after a few days from now should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
    1. From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions, including any with the name "RightCoupon," "SaveKeep," or similar. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
    2. In the Applications folder, there may be an item with the name "SaveKeeper" or similar. Move it to the Trash and empty. If you get a warning that the item is in use, force it to quit, then try again.
The rest of this comment is optional. I can't be sure that you don't have a variant of SaveKeeper that I'm not familiar with, or that you haven't installed some other kind of malware in addition to SaveKeeper. If you want to rule out that possibility, see below.
    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) on the advice of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    PATH=/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin; clear; Fb='%s\n\t(%s)\n'; Fm='\n%s\n\n%s\n'; Fr='\nRAM details\n%s\n'; Fs='\n%s: %s\n'; Fu='user %s%%, system %s%%'; AC="com.autodesk.AutoCAD  com.evenflow.dropbox com.google.GoogleDrive"; H='^[[:space:]]*((127\.0\.0\.1|::1|fe80::1%lo0)[[:space:]]+local|(255\.){3}255[[:space:]]*broadcast)host[[:space:]]*$'; NS=networksetup; PB="/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy -c Print"; A () { [[ a -eq 0 ]]; }; BI () { $PB\ :CFBundleIdentifier "$1"; }; LC () { $2 launchctl list | awk 'NR>1 && !/0x|\.[0-9]+$|com\.apple\.(AirPortBaseStationAgent|launchctl\.(Aqua|Background|System))$/{print $3}' | grep -Fv "$1"; }; M () { find -L "$d" -type f | while read f; do file -b "$f" | egrep -lq XML\|exec && echo $f; done; }; AT () { o=`file -b "$1" | egrep -v '^(A.{16}t$|cann)'`; Ps "${1##*/} format"; }; Pc () { o=`grep -v '^ *#' "$2"`; l=`wc -l <<< "$o"`; [[ l -gt 25 ]] && o=`head -n25 <<< "$o"`$'\n'"and $((l-25)) more line(s)"; Pm "$1"; AT "$1"; }; Pm () { [[ "$o" ]] && o=`sed -E '/^ *$|CSConfigDot/d;s/^ */   /;s/[-0-9A-Fa-f]{22,}/UUID/g;s/(ochat)\.[^.]+(\..+)/\1\2/;/Shared/!s/(\/Users\/)[^/]+/\1-/g' <<< "$o"` && printf "$Fm" "$1" "$o"; }; Pp () { o=`$PB "$2" | awk -F'= ' \/$3'/{print $2}'`; Pm "$1"; }; Ps () { o=`echo $o`; [[ !     Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

  • Remove pop up blockers

how do i remove pop up blockers?

    In Safari?
Go Safari > Preferences > Security > Untick Block Pop-up windows.
If it's an extension you have added go Safari > Preferences > Extensions > Disable the pop up blocker.
    Hope that solves your issue.

  • Temporarily removing pop-up blockers

Can someone please tell me how to temporarily remove pop-up blockers from the Macbook?? I'm not very computer savvy but in order for me to do my homework, I have to be able to run a program that you have to allow the pop-ups... I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me how???

Upper left hand corner look under Safari uncheck *Block Pop-Up Windows*. That should do it.

  • AU plugin for removing pops/clicks on old vinyl

I use Sound Studio 3 to direct record old vinyl records. Until I got an Intel Mac, I was using the AU plugin from SoundSoap to remove the pop/clicks/hum, etc. from the recording. But it no longer works with the Intel Macs.
I was wondering if anyone knows a good AU plugin that will work that I can use with Sound Studio 3 that will do what Sound Soap did?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

ClickRepair isn't exactly what you're looking for, as it's not an AU but a stand-alone application, but it's by far the best thing I've found for cleaning up vinyl.
    http://wwwmaths.anu.edu.au/~briand/sound/
I just transfer my vinyl as two .aif files, run it through ClickRepair, chop them up and burn or store the files. I'm guessing that it'll run in Rosetta, but there is a demo so you can try it out.

  • Removing POP Account

I changed my ISP & setup a new acoount for my new email address.
I then deleted m old Pop account and it deleted all my exisiting emails from my inbox, sent, and deleted boxes.
Can I recover my deleted emails
Also,I need to set up my kids sub accounts and I don't want to lose their emails. Is there a way to delete the ld account without losing the emails?

    Trish,
Not much hope of recovery the messages that were in the account folder of the removed account. Each email account folder has its own Inbox, Sent etc -- there is not a single Inbox. When you remove an account, if it is POP, you get warning message that says you will lose the messages on your Mac -- it is not to be ignored. A slightly different warning or prompt occurs with the removal of an IMAP account. Mailboxes that you create to organize and archive email messages are not impacted with the removal of an account.
What do you mean by "I need to set up my kids sub accounts"?

  • Removing pops and clicks in MP3s recorded from vinyl??

I have some mp3s recorded from vinyl. I would like to know of any good software to take those mp3s and remove any pops/clicks/noise. I'm willing to pay for some good software. Please let me know what to look for, as I've never used any software to alter my songs.
    Thanks,
    Bryan

    Hi
There is a very good free-ware program called Audacity which has quite a good noise removal tool. You first profile the noise by selecting a section of just noise then get it to remove it, works quite well. As for clicks and pops in the old days when I used to edit quarter inch tape if you recorded a vinyl at 15 inches per second onto the tape you could actually edit out the click or pop with no discernible gap in the music. With audacity you could zoom right in and cut the clicks and pops out laborious I know. But trying to filter them doesn't work very successfully unless you are prepared to throw very large sums of money and use one of the devises or software made by somebody like Cedar.
Audacity can be found at VersionTracker.Com

  • Removing Pop Up Add Virus

How do I remove a pop up add virus on safari

    Helpful Links Regarding Malware Problems
If you are having an immediate problem with ads popping up see The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide, remove adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac, and AdwareMedic. If you require anti-virus protection Thomas Reed recommends using ClamXAV. (Thank you to Thomas Reed for this recommendation.) You might consider adding this Safari extensions: Adblock Plus 1.8.9.
