Removing Raid 0 and reinstalling

My XP Pro install on a raid-o array with 4 partitions went fast and smoothly, only to discover that XP Pro was installed on the last (G)partition. (I know where I made the wrong turn!) Want to have XP on C partition. Cannot format C nor the G partition. What is the cleanest way to remove XP from G and reinstall on C? Delete the raid-0 array and start from scratch? If so, how do I delete the array? Use a "Wipe & Zap" program to zero out all the partitions? Any suggestions? Two Maxtors 80 GB Ultra ATA/133, populated on the IDE3 on a MSI 875P NEO mobd.

You cannot format either partition because they are part of the correct functioning of the OS. The c: drive houses the bootloader, and the g: drive is the system partition.
This has always been the case with any windows system.
IE, from win9x you could not format the c: drive when booted into windows. With NT/2000/XP there has been an addition for the bootloader, which always installs on the first active partition.
You should however be able to boot from the winXP cd and format them from the setup, after which it's only a few more clicks to reinstall winXP.

There might be more information from the crash report, but it might just tell us you are crashing the first time Firefox tries to use a font.
One thing I suppose you could do is select only those fonts you've got in Tools -> Options -> Content -> Fonts and Colors -> Advanced and then uncheck the '''Allow pages to use their own fonts''' option.

Assuming you installed Windows in a Boot Camp partition, start up Boot Camp Assistant and select the menu item to remove Windows and return the drive to a single partition. Then run Boot Camp Assistant and select the menu item to install Windows 7.

Because of warning I received for my iTunes (it would not start up) MSVCR80dill missing, if I remove the program and reinstall will I lose the music I already had and purchased?

I am somewhat computer illiterate but I have a question. I have had iTunes for several years and never had a problem. I occassionally get prompts to update and those only take about a minute and they're done. Last week, the download could not complete even after I had tried 2 or 3 times. I just let it go thinking I would try again when I had more time. Yesterday I tried to access iTunes on my Windows 7 and got a message, " could not start iTunes, MSVCR80 dill is missing. Please reload iTunes to fix the problem. I tried several times but I continue to get the same message without iTunes coming up. I have a desktop computer with xp Pro windows. I updated from Firefox 3.6 to 4.0 and found I could not connect to the internet using this updated bowser. I had to remove 4.0 and reinstall 3.6 to restore a working version of Mozilla. Why did this occur?

I tried to update my browser from 3.6 to4.0. On restarting the computer I found I could no longer connect to the internet. I then connected to the internet using Internet Explorer and removed the mozilla browser and reinstall Mozilla firefox 4.0. Again the browser using this updated version didn't work. So reinstalled Mozilla firefox 3.6 and it worked.

How do I remove Snow Leopard 10.6.2 from my G5 and reinstall Panther 10.3? My G5 only came with 10.3 CD and I can't start up from that. I would like to eventually get to 10.5 Leopard but don't have a CD/DVD of that either. Is there somewhere I can download the software?
I use Adobe CS3 designer software for my business. It's been crashing since I updated to Snow Leopard. I thought I could go back down in OS's but for some reason I can't start up from the 10.3 CD.

First, You will need your original Panther install DVD to return to Panther. Before doing so, I would make a bootable clone of my Sno boot volume on an external drive for purposes of backup, possible migration, and fail-safe--even if you have a TM backup. Your only probably trouble-free way of returning to Panther is erase and install. Before you do so, check the compatibility of your hardware and software; check [here|http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/forum:start] and [here|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3258].
Given that you have dealt with any compatibility issues, your only problem should be migrating from your clone in a way that avoids your Sno problems. In this regard, you generally can drag and drop you data files from Sno without issue (see links below--use Preferential Treatment before migrating anything and the by-hand migration guide to accomplish your migration). I would reinstall my apps by hand. I would not migrate your users or settings. The remaining issue is dealing with the remaining contents of your user folder(s).
I would acquire [Preferential Treatment|http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22790] and use this app to fix the your user preferences--the items in your User/Library/Preferences folder(s). After doing so, use [this guide|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6185507] to do the actual migration of the items in your user folder(s).
After reinstalling Panther, you will need to install Leopard. But note that upgrade disk to Leopard are difficult to find and, especially, at a reasonable price. You may need to buy a box set.
If you decide to make the move, then, in your case, I suggest that you do an upgrade install. If you do an upgrade, then, after installing, all you file, setting, users, and apps will be in their proper places, except for incompatible apps which will be archived in the Incompatible Applications folder. Upgrading is a very sound method.
I would not upgrade to Leo using any method unless, again, I had an external drive with a bootable clone of my internal-drive boot volume (this time a Panther clone) on it. I think that there is enough risk upgrading to Leopard that such conservatism is warranted. I would not use time machine for an installation backup; I don't trust it enough.
If you do not like Leopard or get a bad install, then you can restore your internal back to Panther using the clone, and nothing will be lost. In doing an upgrade install, the clone is your data backup and fail-safe device. In both cases, you can clone with Disk Utility, SuperDuper, or Carbon Copy Cloner. If you like the idea of cloning for a backup, etc., then I would acquire one of the last two mentioned programs.

Envy 4-1130US access Intel RAID Manager and reinstall back into hybrid Drive.

So I was trying to dual boot Linux and windows 7 on my HP ENVY 4. I foud the only way was to remove the raid so that there was two seperate hard drives apperently. before I did this I made the recovery disks to be able to set it back to normal once I was done my linux work.
Once I tried to recover my computer the disks say that: "this software cannot be used to recover the systems" or somthing like that. I dont know why they dont work though as I had to use 5 disks to burn them.
I want to reinstall the raid and notice you said you cant access this. So how do I go about making it back into a hybrid drive. This seems increadibly poor design that it wont let people fully use the hardware that they purchased. I have installed windows 8 myself but there is now just two different drives.
So please tell me how to fix this problem.

Ok, I just now review your PC details. your PC has a 32GB mSATA driver and another one is 500GB(as standard shipping).
raid is created for the HDD and mSATA drive to work together and give you max performance. this is customized by HP using internal utility(at the time of recovery also) and there is no option for users to configure/change RAID settinigs. no access for consumers to change RAID as playing with it may cause PC/OS issues.
i am afraid, expert users may not be able to cinfigure much on it due to no options at BIOS level to configure RAID.

I had a warning while opening photoshop it stated I had to remove the program and reinstall it would

not open with out reinstalling. so I did it and now the program will not download at all...I am without the whole adobe creative suite 3 master collection. I called the help line and they are saying no info on the problem since it is old. Does anyone have any ideals on what I can do, I am lost with out my software. MySQL - how to remove bad installation and reinstall correctly.

I installed MySQL and I'm getting permissions errors on files, directories and also getting error messages regarding missing files. I'd like to completely remove MySQL and attempt to reinstall it. Well, before reinstalling you could try this in Terminal:
*cd /usr/local/mysql*
*sudo ./scripts/mysqlinstalldb*
*sudo chown -R mysql data/*
That will reinstall the default database and will take care of your permission errors (well, at least I hope so).

Try closing the Facebook app completely and see if it works ok when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Facebook app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Facebook app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

T61 does not power up until battery is removed and reinstalled

I have T61 laptop for quite a while and only recently I started using it with port replicator 2505 and immediately start seeing this problem. My workflow is:
- come to office and attach my T61 to port replicator
- in the evening I hibernate it and detach
- next morning I attach it to port replicator and no light comes on and power button doesn't work. At this point laptop is in total lock down. I can't start it with either AC plugged in or not on port replicator or detached. The only fix is to remove the battery and reinstalled it and only after that laptop will power up and continue from hibernation.
Has anyone seen such problem? Is there a fix?
I tried to contact Lenovo, but because my warranty is out they refused to provide any help.
I am starting seriously regretting that I switch from Dell to Lenovo. I have never seen any port replicator problems with Dell.

these are the different three prong model that is compatible with your thinkpads.
Try to place a piece of aluminum foil between your laptop and the dock, then connect your foil to a piece of metal frame using some wires. This maybe cheaper way to deal with electrostatic if that works, then it is great.
ALso you may want to update your bios if you haven't do so before.

Strange visual corruption of Firefox 7.0.1, persists after complete removal and reinstall

I noticed this a couple of days ago but my firefox appears 'distorted' almost like everything is scribbled. The text isn't smooth or distinct, all borders don't appear even and it persists through all menus, sub-menus, every website, etc.
No other software on my system is experiencing this, and my laptop install of Firefox is just fine. I have a screenshot to compare between FF7.0.1 and the most recent build of Chrome.
While this only started a few days ago I did recently install a new video card, ATI HD 6750, however no other software is affected in the same way.
I've attempted to run a full removal of Firefox and reinstall but the problem persists after reinstallation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Additional:
I ran FF in safe mode and that corrected the visual corruption but there were no differences in add-ons etc so still no idea what the fundamental cause of the issue is. Please see attached screenshot for clarity
