Removing Software Applications from Leopard?

I am a new Mac convert so excuse my stupid question, but I want to remove a software application from my Mac. How do I uninstall it properly? Here is what I have done so far, I deleted the icon from the Applications folder. I am thinking it cannot be that simple. What else do I need to do or go to find other traces of the program stored within Leopard or my HD?

1. Normally, just dragging it to the trash is all that is needed.
2. Some apps have their own uninstaller utility. If so, use it.
3. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/31123 can take care of the app and any leftovers.

    Thanks

If the applications were originally drag and drop installations you can simply drag them to the trash and empty. If they were installed by an installer there should be an uninstaller included. If you're not sure you should check with the software developer for instructions. In this case Google can be your friend.

How do I delete or remove an application from my iPad.

Press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. You cannot delete any of the Apple built-in apps e.g. iPod, App Store, Game entre etc. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'
If the app is on your computer's iTunes then you should probably also either delete it from there as well, or un-tick it from your iPad's sync list when you next connect it, otherwise it might get put back on the iPad. As long as the app remains in the app store you can always re-download it for free in the future (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).

how can I remove the application from your iPad at the same time and with the clouds?
I know you press the app icon until it starts shaking, then press the black cross in the upper left corner. This will remove it.
But still I will come in to the store as a bookmark Purchated I see it with the symbol of a cloud. And I would like to remove it for good. Under iOS 5.1.1 somehow I managed to do that (at least hide it). In iOS 6 I can not do that.

The only transition you can add this way is default cross dissolve. If the images are in the timeline, move the playhead to the beginning of the images, select them all, and drag from the timeline to the canvas to overwrite with transition.

  • Removing print drivers from Leopard

is it a)advisable and b)easy to remove unwanted printe drivers from Leopard's Library folder?

The printer folder is 2.7gb big, and I only use an Epson and/or a Lexmark, so I thought I might free up space to create an eDrive for TechTool. David Pogue's useful book on Leopard says you just trash unwanted drivers, but an article I just read online at Peachpit says that this can cause printing problems so I have a twinge of nervousness

I think we have to clean ( already scheduled for next release) list of some of the
supported API on various MBeans. However just FYI , there is an "void
setURI(java.lang.String)" method in Component MBean that you could use.

  • : COPYING SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS FROM MY LACIE TO MY MACBOOK

I have a Lacie external hard drive as a back for my iMac G5 Power PC. It is also a working clone that has been created using Super Duper.
I would like to transfer some of the applications from the Lacie onto my Macbook 2.0 Intel. I have connected my Macbook to the Lacie using a Firewire lead. The Lacies appears on the Macbook desktop and when opened I can see all the Applications that I would like to copy to the Macbook. I have also opened a Finder window on the Macbook. So far I have tested a couple of small Applications simply by dragging them from the Lacie Applications window to the Macbook Applications window. Both applications have successfully copied to the Macbook and seem to work ok. I am a little nervous that I am doing something wrong. Guidance would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David.

Your results may vary a lot. For small applications, such as freeware or shareware that you download as a single app file from websites, your method may work. However, you won't be copying any preference files that you've created on the other computer (eg, favourites in an FTP application, etc).
For more complex applications, which have their own installers, simply dragging the app probably won't work, since they will likely have other support files scattered around your Library folders. This applies to programs such as the Adobe suite, or any low-level system utilities. Also, some apps may need startup items in either your own or the system's Library folder.
You're also copying from a PowerPC computer to an Intel computer, and some applications may not work well with this switch in architecture (there may be a different installer for the Intel system).
Don't forget also that licensed software should not be used on more computers than you have a license for.

  • Unchecking "Sync Applications" removes all applications from Touch

Is there a way to prevent this? Not a big deal necessarily.
I have my applications on my Touch that I use. When I plug it in to my comp, it goes through the sync process, and having a very slow computer, this takes awhile sometimes. So I want to stop the applications from auto syncing.
When I uncheck "Sync Applications" it says "all existing applications and their data will be removed from your iPod." That's pretty annoying if you ask me.
I want to uncheck "Sync" but I don't want to remove my applications. Is there a way?

    Thank you for the welcome.
I'm guessing the syncing applications are all updated, so that's why it's trying to sync them.
The reason it's probably slow is an old, old computer being pushed to its limit. P3, 1 GHz (I upgraded the CPU, originally it was 800 MHz). I have a 2.0 USB card install that I'm using, but I'm not convinced it's quality. The computer is just stressed doing anything, much less 2 things at a time.
I imagine if I upgraded my computer this issue wouldn't bother me much.
    Thank you for the reply.

  • How to remove Java Applications from "Add and Remove Programs" list?

I have deployed my Java applications (both JWS and Applet) via JNLP with allow-offline option enabled and without installer-desc option specified.
    My questions are:
    1. An entry is added to the Add and Remove Programs list after launching the application via JNLP. Is it due to the specification of JNLP or JWS? Is there anyway to prevent this behavior?
    2. I removed my application by clearing the cache via Java Control Panel but the entry for the application is still listed in Add and Remove Programs. How can I remove the entry in the Add and Remove Programs?
I have tried following methods but neither works:
1.Go to Add and Remove Programs, and click [remove] button to the right of my application.
*Warning message like 'Application cannot be uninstalled completely' is thrown.
2.Follow instructions listed @ [Microsoft Online Support site|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314481/en-us] to remove my application manually via Windows registry.
*Couldn't find appropriate registry entry to delete.

  • When wanting to remove unwanted applications from my Mac, does dragging them into the trash COMPLETELY uninstall the software?

My 2010 Macbook Pro that is running on OS X Mavericks (10.9.4) has been running rather slow lately because of all the files I use for work. I have gone through and deleted all the unnecessary applications by simply dragging them into the trash, but I am curious, does this ACTUALLY uninstall the application? My reason for asking is because in some cases, when dragging the app to the trash, the app simply just says, "Move to trash" and other times it says, "Uninstall application." Like I said I want to clear up as much space as possible to get my laptop running a bit faster.
And yes, I am already in the process of ordering new RAM to help speed up the computer as a whole, but I would like some help in UNINSTALLING unwanted applications, and am also open to any other ideas on how to speed my computer up. I am EXTREMELY tech savvy when it comes to computers, especially Apples, I just can't seem to figure this one out.... HELP ME!
    Thank you in advance

Have a look at this video tutorial on how to uninstall applications completely on Mac OS X, something apps like AppZapper and AppDelete are not able to do yet.
And unless you have a 250 GB HDD with less than 5 to 10 GB of free storage, freeing up storage space will not make your computer run faster.
Maybe think about getting an SSD as system drive, it speeds up your Mac quite considerably.
