Removing some pages/files/archived blog entries with in a website

I noticed on my iDisk there are pages/files/old blog entries that I had removed from my iWeb (on my computer, saved and then published to .Mac). I am getting close to running out of room on my .Mac/iDisk account that is why I saw that there were old pages still on the iDisk/.Mac that I thought I had removed. How do I completely remove these pages/files/old blog entries I no longer need or want?

Not sure what is going on here... but I do notice a mistake in the RSS.xml feed URL. When you publish to folder in iWeb, be sure to enter in the domain name of our site. Now in your case, you are uploading to a subdirectory "iwebrats", so you need to include that as well. So in the URL field box in the Publish to Folder window, you should be entering: http://www.petermaher.com/iwebrats/ This will ensure that iWeb generates a valid RSS/podcast feed URL for your site.
Now on to your blog errors....it's behaving like you didn't upload the blog entry at all. When you do a publish to folder, iWeb will lay down two things inside this folder.... an index.html page and a folder (named after your site and containing a bunch of files associated with it). These are the two things that you should be uploading to your "iwebrats" subdirectory. You need to upload both items WITHOUT the enclosing folder. So when you look at your "iwebrats" subdirectory in your FTP program, you should see the index.html program and your sitefolder. Don't take anything out of the sitefolder...just upload it as is. Upload the two items as is, keeping the index.html file outside the site folder.
Go back and double check your uploading. Maybe re-FTP things. I think you will see that your site will work.

Within reason, Pages v5.2 documents are forwards compatible with Pages v5.5.3. Apple introduced the single file format document as a default with Pages v5.5.3 which is not backwards compatible with Pages v5 on Mavericks.
However, they also provided a File > Advanced > Change File Type > {Single File, Package} menu that allows you to change the current Pages v5.5.3 document into the backwards compatible Package type document. You would follow this transformation with a File > Save operation to complete it.

Also, after a numbers of time, I delete everything from my desktop, I keep the folder where I've stored my PDF, copy the original pdf in it (after I make sure the original PDF was still intact), once copied, the copied version has the changes I've made in it from my previous operation.
Do you have any ideas?

Can you sync pages files on different devices with different apple ids? I have a personal iPad and one given to me for work. They are set up with two different apple IDs. I do all of my lesson plans in pages. I want to be able to create plans on both devices, but need to know if there is a way to sync the files without emailing, etc.

No, that's not possible. A better way of working around this than emailing the documents to yourself is to use a third party storage solution such as Dropbox and a webDAV server to upload the documents.

Blog Summary Page: Pictures in blog entries are gone

All of my blog entries on the blog summary page no longer display images set inside the text of an entry. Is this an iWeb 2.0 bug or "feature"?
This is annoying, because with iWeb 1 I was able to share these pictures in my blog summary page and RSS feed. Now my blog and RSS readers have to click the "read more" link to see any pictures, even though I have set my blog summary length to the total entry.
This is a serious loss of feature for no good reason, and I hope this is considered a bug and will be fixed soon.

I was just getting ready to post a similar question when I ran across yours. I've been using Rapid Weaver for my blog and was thinking about switching over to iWeb, but until the pictures start showing up on the summary page (inside the text of an entry), iWeb is utterly non-functional for my purposes.
The other thing I noticed is that none of the formatting (like bold or italics text) shows up inside the text of an entry on the summary page either.
I, too, am very interested in whether this is a "bug" or a "feature."

Can I add blog entries with my ipad??

I started a blog in iWeb on my macbook and then wondered if I could add entries with my iPad and iPhone since I'm not going to be traveling with my macbook. Trying to do a travel journal via this method.

If you use Wordpress as Koeklin suggests you can embed that blog into an iWeb page as shown in this demo page: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page. That way visitors don't need to leave your site to see your blog and you can add to it from your mobile device(s).

Retreiving lost blog entry with Time Machine

I was working with a new blog entry, when iWeb suddenly quit unexpectedly. I've never been good at hitting the save button, so all my work was lost.
I do run backup with TM, so thought there might be a slim chance that all was good, but alas...
I find the Domain.sites2 file in TM, but when I hit restore this does not change anything! It does not matter which date I try to restore from... iWeb still looks exactly as I left it last. So there must be something I'm doing wrong. Can anyone enlighten me?

to restore a file (or folder) with TM you launch TM and go back to the time you want, select the item (iPhoto library in this case) and click restore

I used automator to remove some text from the filenames of a group of pages files, and now they can't be opened. What went wrong?

Did you by any chance remove the file type extension?

Archive Blog Entries

After making several entries in my blog, the time has come to move most of them to archive (so that they don't appear in the blog front page, but they are still accessible on the websie). There must be a simple way to do this, but I can't figure it out. If I hit the 'delete' entry in the 'entries' page, it deletes the entry from archive as well. How do you do it?

You can set how many entries appear on the front blog page using the Inspector. First select your main blog page. Then open the Inspector and click over to the RSS tab. There, you can adjust the number of entries shown (all the other entries fall off into the Archive page) and you can also adjust how much of a text excerpt to show as well.

i have created one ADF application.
it works fine with integrated server.
now i want to create the Deployable EAR file for this application to deploy it on another server (Other Than IntegratedWeblogic Server)

if you see the lines highlighted by @
here it removes the trinidad-api.jar and trinidad-impl.jar from my EAR saying that "Removing the following prohibited entry from the EAR: lib/trinidad-api.jar "
so why this happen ?
this EAR file creates problem while deployment.
if i manually put both Jars in EAR, it works fine..
can anybody please help on this ?

but i don't think so it is present on weblogic because i not put that files in EAR it gives me some classDefNotFound or classNotFound exception.

Archiving Blog Entries OFF of iWeb

Hey all...
I want to move my blog off iWeb and onto Blogger -- so I can update it w/o being next to the computer. Is there a way to archive the text and images easily, other than cutting and pasting the entries into a word file?

I'm afraid not. iWeb is pretty much a closed system when it comes to interoperating with the other blogging systems out there.

Adobe Reader 9.x crashes when opening some pdf files that work fine with Adobe Reader 8.x

Adobe Reader 9 crashes when opening approximately 10% to 20% of the pdfs in my collection. The remaining 80% to 90% work without problems. The pdfs are launched by double-clicking the pdf file from Windows Explorer. The crashes occur with both v9.0 and v9.1. The pdfs that crash in v9.x work fine in older versions of Adobe Reader, such as v8.1.3. Furthermore, this behavior also occurs on all 3 virtual machine hosted on the same physical machine, with default Adobe Reader settings, for both v9.0 and v9.1. The virtual machines have little running in memory except standard Windows executables - i.e. they are fairly pristine. The operating systems for the virtual machines are XP SP3, XP SP2, and Windows Server 2003.

To sum up, this problem happens on both a real computer running XP SP3, and also on all 3 virtual machines hosted on the same physical computer. I tried changing the Reader setting to not use hardware rendering, to no avail. I also tried various Data Execution Prevention settings in Windows, to no avail. All operating systems, the real and virtual ones, do not have problems with other programs that I use. I also tried a second machine with Adobe Reader v9.1 and the same exact problem pdfs, and had no issues. Thus, the problem happens on only one of the computers, but on the real and 3 virtual operating systems on that machine. There were no errors reported during any of the Reader installations. The virtual machines had no prior versions of Reader prior to Reader installation.

I did further testing of 10 single page pdf files which I created from a single book. All 5 pdf files with images crashed in Reader v9.1. 0 of the 5 pdf files without images crashed in Reader v9.1. Reader v8.1.4 crashes on none of the 10 pdfs. Note that the crash always occurs in jp2klib.dll, which according to the file property description is 'JPEG2000 Core Library', which deals with images. So it seems the issue is in Adobe's jp2klib.dll, in combination with the hardware/software that I have. I used Microsoft's DirectX Diagnostic Tool to test DirectX, including visual tests of DirectDraw and Direct3D - everything worked as expected with no issues detected. Photo galery doesn´t work in blog entry with Intensedebate installed

I´ve installed Intensedebate with iWeb Buddy (because I want comments be relationated with the master page), and when i put a photo galery copied from other galery page it doesn´t work.

The issue has been solved thanks to the great guys on the Support Web Chat, they lead me through the resseting PRAM and NVRAM, and now everything works just fine.

Creating Wordpress blog entries with Safari 3 loses carriage returns

Hi all,
Ever since I started using Safari on Leopard, I've been losing all my carriage returns in my Wordpress entries. I don't know what's causing it, but Safari for Tiger, and Firefox 2.0.0.8 running on Tiger, Leopard, and Windows XP don't cause this to happen.
Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening? The carriage returns are apparently getting erased somehow because where there should be a , there's instead no space between the last period of a sentence and the first letter of the next.

I'm not sure this is fixable by the users.

Same safari/wordpress problem here.
And not the only one! (cookies, crashes)
With the safari troubles I am now using camino more and more often. If it did copy formated text properly it would now be my first choice.
However I do like safiris search/find a lot!!

IWeb blog entry with an earlier date than today?

Is there a way to create an entry in iWeb that has a date before today's date? Say I want to create an entry of something that happened five days ago... When I create an entry, it automatically sets the date to today. Is there any way to change the date backwards for the entry?

Possibly not. When you highlight and erase it, it doesn't help you make a new one, but the font size and color settings remain. I just re-wrote the dates I wanted in the same way they had already been written (day, month, date, year).
Example on my non-profit site, all the journal entries were entered on the same day (Jan 25), but I changed the dates on them to reflect when they were actually written by the author. See under "Journal" page in this site linked here: http://www.catalinafoundation.org
