Removing song from ipod and putting them on laptop

Matt

Hi and welcome to  Discussions!
First you'll need to transfer your music from the iPod Nano to the computer and then sync the music with the new iPod Touch.
Read this article, to learn how to transfer from an iPod to a computer:
If you have purchased songs from the iTunes Music Store, then those are pretty easy to transfer to your computer. You'll just need to follow [this instructions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305465].
All your other songs (for example, those ripped from your CD's), you'll need to use any 3rd party program to transfer them to your iTunes library!
Some can also transfer your playlists, videos, ratings, podcast...

    Thanks

There is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
There are also a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.

  • Can I pull songs off my iPod and put them on my computer?

My husband's iPod classic needs a new battery. The problem is that he didn't back up his songs on the computer, so the only place they exist is on his iPod. As you know, when I send his iPod in for a new battery, his songs will all be gone.
So I was told recently that there is a way to pull songs off an iPod and put them into iTunes on a computer. Is this really possible? If so, does it involve new software or hardware? Can you give me specifics? Where is this software/hardware available? Our computer is a PC running Windows XP. I want to do this for him for his birthday. Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you!

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Why does sync remove songs from iPod?

why does sync remove songs from iPod? My itune library lost songs with an ! symbol.

It means iTunes can no longer locate those particular files at the specified location on your PC's hard drive.  So you'll need to search for these track's on your PC and re-import these tracks from their new location.

  • Good morning, i would like to know how to take pictures from iphoto and put them in a folder on desktop

Good morning: would like to know how to take pictures from my iphoto and put them in a folder on my desktop

To take photos from iPhoto and put them onto a folder on Desktop, first create a folder on Desktop. Right-click on Desktop and create a new folder.
Then, open iPhoto, and you have two ways to export photos:
    1. Select the photos you want to copy to Desktop with Command key (or go to Edit menu > Select All, if you want to copy all photos), and then, drag them to the folder on Desktop.
    2. Select the photos you want to copy to Desktop with Command key, go to File menu > Export, and follow the steps.
You can choose the one you prefer

  • IOS8.0.2 removed every song from iPod and won't sync to put them back

Okay, I'm working with two iPod Touchs right now on a fully updated iTunes on a PC. My iPod is not fully updated (8.0), yet I just now synced it and it gave me the songs I had recently downloaded and organized my playlists just fine.
However, I'm trying to sync my sister's iPod. It's been updated to 8.0.2 and when I first tried to sync it, it removed every song from her library. I still have my library on my computer/iTunes, but her iPod is blank. All music has been removed save from some of the recently added and few obscure songs (18 songs in total, when we have >5000).
When I try to sync it again, it recognizes that I want to add every single song. The memory bar at the bottom shows the memory that I intend to use up with all of the music. However, when it syncs, it tells me that it's 'Waiting for changes to be applied'. After about 5 minutes of that, the entire blue bar of music that is supposed to take up the iPod's memory vanishes and the iPod remains unsynced.
To be fair, I did recently update this iPod that is not working. It was working on iOS 6 before but I updated it now. Maybe that's the reason it's not working now, but I have no idea how to find a solution to this.
-I've restarted my computer, iTunes, and the iPod.
-I do not have any missing/exclamation marked songs.
-The iPod is set to automatically back up.
-I've tried both 'syncing the entire music library' and 'filing extra memory with songs'.
Does anyone have any idea how this can be solved? Thank you.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Taking the full resolution photos from my iPod and putting them on an eMac

I'd like to put all the 5000+ photos that are on my iPod (and my new iMac) onto my wife's eMac. HOWEVER, I really don't want to mess with anything else on her computer. (Truth be told, I'm under a "never touch my computer again" order from doing on too many "improvements".)
But I would like her computer as a back up on the family photos. So, how do I do it?
Also, there are several album's worth of somewhat good music that she's purchased using her computer. How do I get it onto my computer? (Again, without endangering her stuff in any way?
    Thanks.

If you copied photos to your iPod using the full resolution option, enable disk use, open your iPod in Finder, open the photos folder then open the "full resolution" folder and drag the photos out of that folder to the desktop. For enabling disk use look here.
    Disk Use.

  • Removing Songs from IPOD video

I loaded a bunch of holiday music on my iPod, but now I don't know how to remove the songs from the iPod without removing them from iTunes.

Im assuming you have your iPod to automatically update songs because if you delete the song off of iTunes it will delete off of your iPod right? Well if you do just uncheck the songs that you dont want and then just update your iPod. The songs that you uncheck wont go on your iPod
