Removing songs from your iPod?

I've heard of software that allows you to remove songs from your iPod. anybody know if this exists? i went to the macstore and they sold me on Tune Transfer which allows you to upload songs from an ipod to my mac but the songs remain on the iPod. thanks

Kristin,
sounds like the software transfers a copy of the song to your computer. Check your hard drive for the music (most likely in your iTunes Music folder) and if your music is in there, you can then delete the songs from your iPod using iTunes.

can anyone tell me how to get your songs from your ipod to your computer?

Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If it's a Mac, try Senuti or Music Rescue.

How do you choose songs from your ipod instead of from the car dashboard while your ipod is plugged into your car?

It depends on your car stereo. On the JVC we have you can select either "Head Mode" or "iPod Mode" when you're plugged into the USB port. Ipod Mode lets you select the songs from the iPod although the radio still controls the volume. I believe the Alpine I have does the same thing.

I want Steve Jobs Back!!! I'm seriously thinking of converting back to the older iTunes. We have a saying in my country,it goes,"If it's not broke, don't fix it!" Sometimes I think they do updates just to keep busy at their jobs or just to **** us off.I don't have time to learn new software everytime someone at apple gets a bright idea.At least they should think it through and test it well before giving it to us.Apple is not a small company, how come we got to work out all their bugs and problems? I may send them a bill! LOL

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:

    - For other music you will need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

  • Updated iTunes and now can't remove songs from my iPod - please help

I've updated iTunes to version 11.0.0.163 and have an iPod Nano 16gb 5th generation.
In iTunes, I'm no longer able to manually select songs to remove them from my iPod - I can't even see the list of music that's on my iPod. The only option it gives me is to sync, and I don't want to do that. Before I upgraded iTunes, it was easy to move music between my iPod and iTunes, now I can't - what's happened?
My iPod is full so I want to remove some music, not all of it. Any advice? Please help - I'm going round in circles!
    Thanks

  • How do I remove songs from my IPOD on my Iphone?

I am trying to remove specific songs from my Ipod on my iphone. I have synced the phone and opened the music tab, highlighted the song and hit delete and it is not working. Any suggestions??

If you sync your iphone, then you would have to remove via the sync process.
If you sync by playlist, then remove the song from the playlist and sync.

  • How do you delete songs from your ipod???

How do i delete songs on my ipod

How you delete content from your iPod depends how you have it set to update:
If you are updating automatically then delete the files from the iTunes library and next time you connect they will automatically be deleted from your iPod. Highlight the file and press the delete key on your keyboard, or right click and choose either Clear or Delete, depending on which version of iTunes you are using.
If you are updating manually, connect your iPod and click on the icon when it shows in the iTunes 7 source list click on the chevron ( the little triangle) to the left of the iPod icon This will display the various icons for the iPod itself, Music, Movies, TV Shows and Playlists. Click on Music and you'll see the traditional song view. Find the files on your iPod that you want to remove, highlight them and delete directly.
To select multiple items such as all the songs in an album, click on the first track in the list hold down the shift key and click on the last track to highlight the selection. Then press the delete key.
To summarise, you start by highlighting the song/video/selection in either the iTunes library or on the iPod song list as displayed in iTunes then press the delete key on your keyboard: Deleting songs or playlists from your iPod

  • Is it possible to import songs from your ipod to itunes?

Somehow, my itunes got screwed up on my pc. So, I am missing about 100 songs. The songs are all on my ipod because I haven't synced them in a while. Is it possible to import the songs from my ipod into itunes? If so, how do I do it?
To make matters more complicated, my itunes now says that the ipod is synced to a different itunes, so if I sync them up, the songs on the ipod will be replaced by the songs on itunes (causing me to lose those 100 songs). Can anyone please help me?

If you're using iTunes 7, you can copy music that you purchased from the iTunes Store back to iTunes directly. You will have to prevent automatic synchronization. While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Shift and Ctrl keys in Windows. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer.
If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums, in the User Tips Library and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.

I just got my ipod a few days ago and I am not sure how to take songs and pictures off of it. Thanks for the help!

How you delete depends how you have your iPod set to update. If you are updating automatically then delete the file from iTunes and next time you connect it will automatically be deleted from your iPod. If you are updating manually just find the file on your iPod, highlight it and press the delete key.
    For info: iPod 101
The iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes (Edit=>Preferences=>'iPod' tab):
    1) Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synced to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, you are prompted to select a different update method.
    2) Automatically update selected playlists only. With this option, iTunes automatically copies the playlists you have selected to the iPod when you connect it to the computer.
    3) Manually manage songs and playlists. You can also choose to transfer music to the iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to the iPod.

I have tried Apple Sauce, and have to say that
iCleaner does a better job, and it also cleans the
back of the iPod which the sauce does not.

Thanks for the tip. Can you buy the iCleaner at the store or do you have to buy it on the internet?
