Removing spaces between clips in imovie 10!?

Hello everyone!
first of all sorry if this questions is in the wrong place!
Anyway, I was wondering if there is ANY way to remove the spaces between video clips in imovie 10? The Spaces look like little black vertical lines... I'm trying to sync my video with a song that im using, and this proves to be very hard when i cant see where my video clips ACTUALLY start in the timeline....
ANY help is apreciated! let me know if i need to be more specific!

The black lines are just placeholders for adding transitions. If there is no transition the skimmer will jump to the start of the next clip. Easy way to find start of clip is to turn on snapping in view mwnu or hit the N key. Basically you can ignore the black lines unless you want to drop in a transition.

How do I delete space between clips in the timeline.

I am adding several hundred photo's to the timeline. When I add them as a group, the the duration of each photo differs. I select a group of photo's, change the duration to 4.00 seconds and the clips change to 4 seconds but then there is a large space between each clip. Is there a way to select a group of clips in the timeline and have them connect to each other? How can I remove the space between clips?

What you are describing happens when you have the position tool selected.
Hit 'A' to make sure you are using the select tool (also known as the 'Arrow' tool, hence the 'A' shortcut).
Unfortunately, your screenshots do not show which tool is active, but I am pretty convinced that that is your problem. Like Russ said, their look pretty similar to each other. But they work very differently.

Removing spaces between characters using a loop

How can I remove spaces between characters using a loop? I made a program that tests the validity of a social insurance number. However, I'd like to be able to remove the spaces in the input if the users sepeates their SIN using spaces. example (123 456 789 becomes 123456789)

Deleting space between events in IMovie

How do you trim the space between events? I am trying to take a video that was emailed in 3 parts and put it together again and I need to just remove the spaces between the selections.

I am also puzzled by this loss of disk space when iMovie imports iPhoto for the first time. Would also like to reclaim that space back.

How to remove space between pages in Oracle Reports 6i?

I have customized one oracle report (rdf). Earlier, the standard report was showing the ouput in pages i.e. there exists space beteen the pages. But I want my custom report in such a way that it should show me the result in one page i.e. there should be no space between the pages as user wants to spool the output into excel sheet (xls format) after getting the result output obtained from my custom report. Presently, when i spool the data into excel sheet, there is still the space exists between the pages like...few records will come then white space...then records.
How can I remove this space, so that user can easily spool the data into excel without existence of white space.
Any sort of help on this will be highly appreciated.

Hi,
My report is running on Unix. When I checked the output file in unix where it is getting generated, i saw ^L characters wherever the space appears when i see the output in apps (notepad) , like after every page where I am able to see the space in my output, there ^L is appearing in output file in unix, so how can I avoid this.
I tried to adjust the frames and repeatinf frames also, even i tried changing the properties also of main region (body), but nothing is working for me and still the same issue occurs. I am not aware of this. Please suggest me.

How to remove space between the lines

In my repoprt output I am getting space between the lines. I have changed
the repeating frame and field -> vertical elasticity and horizontal elasticity to fallowing combinations.
fixed, fixed.
variable, fixed,
expand, variable,
variable, expand
Then also I am getting space between the lines of my output.
Could you help me in this?

Change the Vertical Elasticity of fields and frames to Variable. If for some fields or frames you don't want to change the vertical elasticity, then remove extra space by adjusting the height of fields/frames.
Also check repeating frames property 'Vert. Space Between Frames'. Default is 0.

How to delete several spaces between clips on timeline

I have hundreds of clip selects in my timeline pulled on a particular track. However, they have spaces between all of them. How do I delete all of the spaces, so that I can view the clips back to back. I don't want to have to click on each space & hit delete a hundred times. In FCP you could just pull a clip to a separate track at the end & higlight the space from the beginning of the sequence to that clip + hold down the delete.. It would delete, delete, delete quickly, closing the gaps on other tracks where possible.
How can I do that efficiently in PremPro?!

Removing space between components in a Repeater

Hi,
I have a component, based on a canvas, which is shown in a Repeater component. Unfortuantely the Repeater is add a space between each component, how can I remove the space created between each component so that they all sit next to each other.

Found a solution for this, in my containing VBox I set the verticalGap to 0, this removed the space between each component. Thanks to Tracy Spratt on the Flexcoders forum for this answer.

I've edited a movie and to stop it jumping so much I want to increase the time between clips so that it fades to black between clips. Is this possible?

There is a "fade to black" transition in iMovie 09. Does that work for you?

Removing spaces between footnotes in Pages

New to Pages, so this may just be a setting I've missed. I've got pages with several footnotes and the spaces between the footnotes, though nice, are not considered to be the "proper" format. How do I remove this space so they're more blocks of text? I'd prefer a solution that still allows the footnotes to be "separate" so that footnotes can move with repagination.

Pause when clicking space between clips?

Timeline. I've just done an action, like shorten a clip, or move a clip. Then I click the space between two clips ... with the idea of deleting the space and joining the clips. But there is a pause of a few seconds before the click will actually highlight the space. I click, nothing happens, click again, nothing happens, maybe the third or fouth click it takes, then I can delete the space.
I've noticed this on two separate edit suites loaded with FCP 7. I don't remember this ever being the case before in FCP. Actually, I've been putting up with it for the last six months or so.
I'm just wondering if anyone else is having the same experience? And if there is a logical explanation?

NVIDIA Ge Force GT 120 graphics card ... mmm ... actually running through a Kona card I see.
The project is in HDV.
The project is on a 2.5" drive, which I suspect is not a 7200 rpm.
Yes, your Mac Pro has much greater bandwidth, but the clockrate is about the same, so it depends on how many cores are getting used... but I seriously doubt it's the issue.
Although the video card is touted by the DaVinci Resolve crowd as "optimal", Apple claims that the ATI 5770 is 5X faster. Most '09 Mac Pros for video editing got one. Moreover, the problems you mention with playback are suspicious. I use a 5770 in my '08 Mac Pro (2X 3.2GHz Quad core Xeon) and easily run two 27" monitors and my 37" HDTV (when it is not is in grading mode via MXO2 Mini.)
Irrespective of its "native" status, HDV imposes a very significant load on the processors. You may want to try transcoding the HDV to ProRes 422. The cost in transcode time and filesize is usually outweighed by the faster rendering times, larger colorspace for grading, and lack of "conform" on output.
I'd revise my position and suggest that when you sort out the display issues and transcode to ProRes things will improve significantly
