Removing specific podcasts from iPod

Hello,
I apologize if this is a simple question, but I'm not sure the best way to handle. I subscribe to many podcasts. I have it setup so that ALL podcasts are synced with my iPod. Once I have listened to a specific podcast, I will usually go into my Podcasts in iTunes and delete the ones that I no longer want. Then, when I sync, the podcasts are deleted off the iPod. However, sometimes I do not want the podcasts to be deleted from iTunes. Just the iPod. That way, I have the podcast incase I ever want to go back to it and listen to it again. It also doesn't clutter up my iPod.
Question: What's the best way to do this? I tried to un-check the checkbox on the episode I didn't want sync'ed, but it still showed up on my iPod. Do I need to go into the iPod as well and delete the episode?

To do this, I think you would need to go to edit, and then preferences at the bottom while your iPod is connected. Then, under the ipod tab, click podcasts. The selected button should be "Automatically update all Podacasts".
Then, at the bottom there is a dropdown box, which is probably selected at "Update: All episodes". You ca change this box to one of 4 options: "Update: All episodes; Only checked episodes, only most recent episodes, or Only unplayed episodes"
If you set it to update only checked episodes, then your problem should be solved.
Another solution could be to manage the podcasts manually, which is the most organized route I personally think.

How can I remove a podcast from iTunes if iTunes is locked up.

I added a password protected podcast and iTunes locks up on the authentication dialog. Spinning beachball... only thing I can do is force quit.
Earlier solution was to go in and manually disable podcasts with Xcode. but then i can't play any of my podcasts.
The recent itunes update fixed the problem, sort of. it allowed me to use itunes normally again. But, I tried to subscribe to the podcast agin and... yup, same thing.
How can I remove that podcast from iTunes without using iTunes to remove it?

Removing played podcasts from iTouch

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to remove played podcasts from my touch? I have my synch settings set to sych only all unplayed. If I just delete the podcasts, they get added back in because iTunes doesn't see them as having been played. However, iTunes is not automatically deleting the podcasts that have been played from my touch. So now I'm in a situation where I have no space left on my touch because it's filled with podcasts that iTunes refuses to remove.
I'd be very interested in hearing how I can address this problem.

And that didn't work, I guess because the first playlist won't update. After reading your post I thought that it ought to work the other way around if the playcount is being analysed first:

But that won't work either. While the first playlist updates fine, the second one never updates and continues to display content that no longer appears in the playlist it is built on. Frustrating. I'm sure there must be a shortcut that hasn't occurred to me yet.

How do I remove a podcast from my iTunes 11 library?

I have provided a screen capture of the problem that I am having. I would like to remove a podcast from my library (the one shown above) but despite unsubscribing and deleting all of the downloaded episodes the feed remaines there and I cannot figure out how to get rid of it.
(I am using the latest version of iTunes.)

I was having this problem as well. In the most recent update, you should see a third option next to "Unplayed" and "Podcasts" called "List." Click this option, right click the podcast you wish to delete, then click "Delete."

How do I remove a Podcast from the Itunes catelog/store?

Email Support at podcasts 'at' apple.com and ask them to remove the podcast, explaining that you cannot access the feed. In any case, as I assume the feed is no longer accessible by iTunes, the podcast will get removed eventually anyway.

Can't delete podcasts from iPod Touch!!! They still remain using space!!

Ok ok, look. I can make them not SHOW UP anymore, but they are STILL ON THE IPOD.
If I make a smart playlist where podcast=true and move it to the ipod, i can SEE they are still on the ipod!! But you cannot delete files from the smart playlist!!
I dont want to delete them from iTunes because I want to still have them archived on my computer.
If i deselect all podcasts from the sync menu, then sync, they are only removed from the podcasts display on the ipod... the actual files are still taking up space on the ipod
APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS. some of us WANT manual control of the files, not just sync this and that.
right now, my ONLY solution I can find is to restore the ipod, reload all my music i want to keep, reload my apps, etc etc.
ALL I WANT TO DO IS DELETE SOME PODCASTS!!!
Does ANYONE have a workaround?!?!

just to say, you can delete items from itunes, and still have them stored on your computer, just click 'keep file' and it will be removed from itunes yet still be stored in the podcast file (or songs etc.)
i'm not sure whether this will solve your problem, and i haven't had much experience with smart playlists, so i'm not sure how to get them to do what you want, but I have some podcasts that i want to sync automatically, and others that i don't. last night i worked out how to do it.
1. my ipod is set to sync manually
2. under the podcasts tab, it is set to sync '10 least recent unplayed' (there are several different options to choose to your requirements) episodes of selected podcasts.
3. in the podcasts boxes, the ones i want to sync are checked.
4. these now sync to my ipod.
5. but, because i am manually managing my songs etc. i can still drag and drop any others that i want to my ipod.
but i'm a bit confused. you are using smart playlists to transfer your podcasts to your ipod. as i say, i'm not too familiar with smart playlists, but is there a reason why you don't just drag and drop them to the ipod/sync them using just the podcast syncing feature?

Auto-removing played podcasts from a smart playlist

I'm wondering if anyone can help me figure out a way to do this. I have two smart playlists for podcasts. The first contains my favourite podcasts and they are removed from the playlist once they've finished playing. This works and I accomplished it like this (using two smart playlists):
Smart Playlist 1 - Favourite Podcasts Helper
- Album is "Podcast A"
OR
- Album is "Podcast B"
OR
- Album is "Podcast C"
etc
Smart Playlist 2 - Favourite Podcasts
- Playlist is "Favourite Podcasts Helper"
AND
- Playcount is 0
As I say, it works great. It's annoying to have to have an extra playlist in there (necessary because you can't mix AND with OR conditions in a single smart playlist) but I prefix it with a "z" and it drops out of sight to the bottom.
Now, here's the problem. I want a playlist for all the other podcasts that DON'T appear in my favourites list and which ALSO removes played podcasts. I don't want to name them all because I don't want to have to remember to add each new podcast to the list because there are a lot of them and I always forget to add them when I load a new podcast onto the iPod.
I tried to do this:
Playlist 3 - All Other Podcasts
- Podcast is true
AND
- Playlist is not "Favourite Podcasts"
AND
- Playcount is 0
It works in so far as it collects all the right podcasts but it won't update, leaving played podcasts in the list. It WILL update if I remove the "Podcast is true" condition but that makes it useless. I tried splitting it up as in my Favourites playlist, moving the "Podcast is true" condition out into it's own playlist but that doesn't help. It seems that as long as a "Podcast" condition is in the chain somewhere, it stops it from updating.
Maybe this is a bug that will get squashed in the next firmware update. Until then does anyone have an idea of how to make it work without listing every single podcast album?

Can't remove old episodes from iPod sine Update!

I have a Shuffle & usually carry 3-5 episodes each of 8-10 different podcasts. Sine installing the new iTunes for Windows, I can't remove old eps from the device, & it's a total crapshoot as to which NEW episodes the system will allow me to click on!!

There are several ways to add podcast episodes to the shuffle, so please correct my assumptions in a reply. How you add podcasts determines how you remove them. I can't tell how you do it from the info you provide.
It sound like you may add podcast episodes manually (drag and drop to iPod). If you do, and your shuffle is 3rd or 4th (current) gen, you should consider doing it using automatic syncing, by putting podcast episodes on a playlist (in your iTunes library and syncing it to the shuffle). Update the playlist at any time, by adding new podcast episodes and removing old ones (the shuffle does not need to be connected). Put the podcast episodes in desired order. iTunes automatically updates the shuffle the next time it is connected (or by clicking Sync if already connected). On the shuffle, you can listen to podcasts from that playlist, and hear episodes from different podcasts consecutively, in the desired order.
When you remove podcast episodes manually, is this the way you do it? Again, this is for 3rd or 4th gen shuffle. Select the shuffle in iTunes, so that you see its "management" screen. In the sidebar, under On My Device, click Podcasts. To the right, the podcast episodes currently on the shuffle are shown. Select the one(s) you want to remove an press Delete on the keyboard.

Problems with deleted Podcasts from iPod Touch (Проблема с удалением)

Некоторое время назад я скачал через сам Ipod некоторые подкасты, в другое время с компа, после все синхронизировал и все уровнялось (переписалось недостающее туда и обратно). Сегодня я хотел все удалить и в настройках синхронизации моего iPod я просто снял галочку синхронизации и применил. После все плейлисты касательно подкастов были очищены, а вот сами файлы остались, т.к. в первую очередь суммируя то что у меня должно было быть и что было разница была в 3 гига.
С помощью SharePod решил проверить действительно ли так то что я думаю и оказалось что он увидел эти файлы, которые должны были быть удалены, но т.к. версия базы данных иная чем то что он может понимать программа, удалить я их не могу. Прошу помочь.

Some time ago, through the iPod Touch I downloaded some podcasts, at other times from the computer, after all synchronized (rewritten podcasts from my computer and ipod). After all the playlists from podcast has been cleared, but the files themselves remain as the free space was at 3 Gb fewer regulations.
Using SharePod checked their version and proved that SharePod saw no deleted files to be erased, but because version of the database other than the fact that he could understand the program, I can not remove them. Please help.

You can only sync with one computer. I would backup to one computer and then restore from backup.

How do you delete podcasts from ipod touch?

I tried to delete a couple of podcasts from my ipod touch but it only deleted the ones that were on my itunes not the ones on my ipod

Ipod 5 wasn't updating new playlists. Removed all music from iPod and ended up with 34 GB of OTHER. How do I remove this without doing a full restore?

iPod 5 was not adding new playlists when synching (plenty of space remained in memory for it). This happened around the time of the new update. I removed all music from the iPod and when I went to resync the selected playlists, my OTHER portion of memory jumped up to 34GB and now there is not enough space on the iPod to put all my music back on.
I've checked the usage of all the apps and photos, etc, it is pretty clear this is because of the music portion only.
Is there anyway of removing this information? Without doing a restore? It is not jailbroken either.

An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

Can not update -'Error -36' I REMOVED Music folder FROM IPod!!!!!!

I accidentely removed whole folder (directory for music) from iPod several days ago.
As a result my ipod is just empty- no music inside and I can not update that- because iTunes can't find the way.
It says : ' unknown error -36 '
Please tell me how I can resolve the issue?

IOS8.0.2 removed every song from iPod and won't sync to put them back

Okay, I'm working with two iPod Touchs right now on a fully updated iTunes on a PC. My iPod is not fully updated (8.0), yet I just now synced it and it gave me the songs I had recently downloaded and organized my playlists just fine.
However, I'm trying to sync my sister's iPod. It's been updated to 8.0.2 and when I first tried to sync it, it removed every song from her library. I still have my library on my computer/iTunes, but her iPod is blank. All music has been removed save from some of the recently added and few obscure songs (18 songs in total, when we have >5000).
When I try to sync it again, it recognizes that I want to add every single song. The memory bar at the bottom shows the memory that I intend to use up with all of the music. However, when it syncs, it tells me that it's 'Waiting for changes to be applied'. After about 5 minutes of that, the entire blue bar of music that is supposed to take up the iPod's memory vanishes and the iPod remains unsynced.
To be fair, I did recently update this iPod that is not working. It was working on iOS 6 before but I updated it now. Maybe that's the reason it's not working now, but I have no idea how to find a solution to this.
-I've restarted my computer, iTunes, and the iPod.
-I do not have any missing/exclamation marked songs.
-The iPod is set to automatically back up.
-I've tried both 'syncing the entire music library' and 'filing extra memory with songs'.
Does anyone have any idea how this can be solved? Thank you.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

ITunes not removing watched podcasts from iPhone

iTunes (7.7.0.43) is no longer removing podcasts from an attached iPhone (2.0) during synchronization, even if they have a play count >= 1, and iTunes is set to synchronize only "unplayed" podcasts. Even setting iTunes to not sync any podcasts doesn't result in any of them being deleted from the iPhone when synchronizing. Synchronizing TV shows ("all unwatched" -- why the inconsistent terminology?) on the other hand work as expected. The only way to get podcasts off the iPhone at the moment appears to be to remove them from iTunes. Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I'm experiencing the same thing...thought I had changed a setting somewhere. Let me know if you find a fix.

How can I remove audio files from ipod totally not just playlist

I understand how to remove from playlists, how can a file be totally and permanently removed to free up memory?

If you sync by playlists, then remove the song from the playlist in itunes, then sync. The song will be removed from the ipod.
However, if you have genres, artists, etc checked, then you would have to remove that genre, artist,etc from the song info.
If you sync by checked song, then uncheck the song and sync.
