IOS 7 'Check Spelling' red underlining disappears even if the word isn't corrected

In previous versions of iOS if a user misspelled a word and 'check spelling' was enabled in the settings menu, the misspelled word would be underlined in red and remain underlined in red until it was corrected or the message was sent. It appears that in iOS 7 the message editor will underline it in red initially and then it disappears once you start typing the next word. Is this a known issue?

Stollerd, I am experiencing same issue and I just spoke to Apple. They did not seem to have known about it, but now they do. They did read this thread and other threads while I had them on the phone. They did not have any solution at this time, but I asked them to make sure that the problem is recorded and escalated.
Just for the info: if they ask you to do some troubleshooting steps on your phone when you call in to report this issue - there is no reason to do that, because there is nothing that is wrong with your phone; the problem lies within the iOS7 and not your phone. I have access to many brand new phone units and I did some testing; no reason for you to repeat the same. If they want to try something out, they can do it with their own phones and find out the results.

You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.<br />

Red underlined words in Apple Mail

Somehow I must have changed something because now when I type almost EVERY word (including properly spelled ones) are highlighted with a red underline.
How can I shut this off or fix it?

perhaps you changed the spellcheck language? go to edit menu->spelling & grammar->show spelling & grammar and check what language is selected for spell checking.

InitialDirContext red underline problem... Urgent

Hello everybody, i'm facing a strange error when i try to set the enviroument created to access the LDAP to the InitialDirContext. I'm running the following code under window xp and i'm getting a red underline with "ctx = new InitialDirContext(env);". It specify that i either remove the "env" or to set it as boolean to satisfy the constructors.
The code is:

I tried to resolve it by downloading the jdni.jar file and include it in the path variable. Nothing is changed and i still get that red underline ..

95% of the code you posted has absolutely nothing to do with selecting the text in a combobox when it gains focus. If you want to create a simple executable example that contains two components so we can tab from one component to the other, then maybe I'll take some time to look at your problem, but frankly its not urgent to me and I'm not going to read throught unnecessary code in an attempt to find the problem.

In Numbers 3.2, you can do lots of things with Page Headers and Footers in Print Preview. Move them to the (paper) edge - if your printer will handle that .
Then bring up the Fonts window (in Print Preview, Menu > Format > Fonts > Show Fonts) and have a play:
Or leave them blank. With zero position on the (paper) page, they will probably be in the non-printing margins anyway .

There is no red underline for misspelled words in Safari on Ipad Air since update

Since updating to the new IOS I don't see that red scribbly underline under misspelled words in Safari (or Google Chrome) anymore on my Ipad Air. I like that underline, cause it's an easy and fast way to see when I mispelled something or made a typo.
The spellcheck function on my Ipad is turned on (the autocorrect and suggestion function are turned off). I do see that red underline in other text programs, like Quickedit, Facebook Messenger and Notes. But not in Safari or in Google Chrome and Google Drive/Documents
I already tried to no avail:
turning the spellcheck, suggestions and autocorrect on and off
Resetting the Ipad (with the home and sleep/wake button)
Deleting my Safari and Google history data
Deleting my dictionary data
Deleting the emoji keyboard
How do I get it to work again?

I suspect that's an actual change to iOS 8, but if it isn't and you think it's a glitch or bug, then open a ticket with Apple Support, so they can get it registered as a problem, so the Apple software people can fix it ...

Adding wavy red underlines to certain points in an af: inputText.

I have a simple page containing an inputText component that uses a validator in a backing bean, which checks the syntax of the string. I have the positions of the invalid text and I would like to add wavy red underlines to these points. How would I go about doing this?

I get Black Eye instead of removing the RED EYE.

The old "red eye" system was sooo simple & easy to use. I am probably doing something stupid. On auto it seems to do nothing. Manual makes the eyes black, bad enough BUT if the spot is to big I get a big black eye. It seems the system is designed to cover up the red with black instead of removing the RED. Can this be true. I hope not. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, you're not doing anything wrong. There are types of redeye that iPhoto just doesn't handle well at all. When there's a lot of yellow or orange in the color it just doesn't work as intended. The manual way also just puts a black disk over the eye.
Try using the redeye tool in manual and then apply the Retouch tool, sized to the black circle, to the the black area with one click. That can soften the effect a bit.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Red underline inline spellcheck in Forms 6i c/s and 10gr2 web and 11gr1 web

I've looked through all the spell check threads and I think I'm asking an original question.
I'm looking for a spellcheck solution that mimics MS Word's red underline spellchecking as you type.
My company has a electronic healthcare record software package that commonly contains lots of narrative typed by users. Spell check is a very important feature. We have many customers, so I cannot control what other software exists on each client machine.
Except:
1) I don't want to use MS Word as an editor and I don't want to use OLE integration
2) I don't want to use Jspell, as this must work in both c/s and web (JSpell doesn't red underline as you type as I understand either)
3) I don't want a spellchecker that must be installed on the client machine (Accuspell, Spellcheck Anywhere, etc), although these typically do the job, some have problems with different MS Windows versions (ie Accuspell works on 2kPro and XP, but not on Vista & 7).
4) I want the dictionary to be stored in the database, so it is centralized
5) I need to stick with Oracle Forms
The best solution that I have found that fits all the bills above is "woodys web site" spellchecker where the spellchecker is actually built into forms (using an olb) and uses a dictionary that is stored in the database, although it only spellchecks one field when you press a button, and does not provide inline spellcheck (the red underline as you type).
Does anyone have any ideas?? There has been spell check discussion within this forum from back in 2000, with no one finding the "right" solution. Just wondering whether anything new has come up??

It is not possible to do achieve what you want, in C/S and Web more using same methodology. For 6i, you may need to use OLE, and for web, you can use a PJC (you can build it on top of JSpell? ). Of course, I am aware that both options are falling on your exception list ;) , but, i feel this is what you left out.

How to disable syntax checker that generates red underlines

I've searched and couldn't find anything. Is there any way to turn off or delay the red underlines that come up while typing in the sql worksheet in SQL developer? Just something that's been bothering me.

Try checking under Tools -> Prefs -> Code Editor -> PL/SQL Syntax Colors -> Available Styles: PLSQL Errors
I don't know if unchecking "Enable Highlight" will turn off the line or not...but changing the line color to Transparent or whatever you background color is should make it go away.

IPad Pages: red underline corrector correcting wrong language

I type in French.
My IPAD keyboard is set to: French
When I type, every single word is wrong according to Pages, it suggests English names. On double click, define: I have the good definition with French dictionnary.
It's is just that the autocorrector red underline corrects the wrong language as if my text was set to English when it is set to French in keyboard..
How can I fix this?

Perhaps it is not really set to the French keyboard. If you have "globe" key, tap that and make sure to select Français.

I can't seem to remove a red pin from the Google map?

I don't have the option to remove the red pins. I tried click on them and then the right arrow to bring up their info. I have the option to replace it, but not to remove it. My map is getting rather full of these. What am I missing?

lol...I see what you mean. I didn't realize my old search stays there indefinitely. I searched for a chain store that had multiple locations, so it left pins all over the map.

Annoying Dictionary *red underlining* beneath typed words in Safari

Dear Mac Comrades,
How does one effectively get rid of the red underlining beneath words that I type online when using Safari (e.g., when typing Google search terms or filling out forms online)? I've looked through the Help menus for the Dictionary application that's part of Mac OS Tiger, but I cannot seem to turn it off!
I do NOT want to use the Dictionary within other applications, especially not Safari. It's annoying, distracting and interfering with my being able to read small typeface as a type. I hate the red underlining when it recognizes "misspelled" words.
Can the Dictionary application be deleted? I've tried putting it in the trash but the red underlining continues whenever I type online with the Safari browser. There must be some Apple Script that's preventing me from being able to purge the Dictionary altogether. How does one get rid of the darned thing? It's a terrible nuisance.
Any help would be appreciated!

Whenever I use technical terms while writing emails the document ends up looking stupid (red wavy lines underlining half the words) and it bugs me when trying to read what I've written.
There must be a way to kill this "helpful" feature.

Thanks! That did it. It'd be ideal if I could just turn off the spell checker red line though. I actually like the auto correct feature.
Until theres an option to kill the red line thing ill have to do without the handy auto correct.
