Removing the approval stage in the process of creation / maintenance roles (BRM)

Would help to change my process of creating and maintaining Roles via BRM.
I want to remove the last phase of my process is approval.

Thanks for the feedback.
I've realized that change as you said.
New roles for the process appears without the approval stage, but in the maintenance of existing roles the approval stage still appears.
I must change the configuration to another location?

Removing the responsbility of user maintenance from the DBA

Suppose you were working with a customer whose DBAs refuse to be involved with user maintenance, i.e. creation and deletion of users, password maintenance, role and privilege assignment etc. What technology and/or approach would you recommend?
Some random thoughts along this line:
1. Ask the DBA to create one user with CREATE USER and ALTER USER privileges, and give that user access to SQL*Plus so that he can run the queries to create and maintain users himself. Obvious downside: Someone else has to know SQL, at least a few SQL statements, or have a custom user interface built for them that wraps the SQL statements. Is this really such a bad solution?
2. LDAP or OID. I don't understand enough about either of these two technologies to truly be able to discuss the pros and cons. How exactly do they work in a Windows network envionment, perhaps one with or without Active Directory and/or Windows Groups? Can they really allow someone other than the DBA to create users, maintain passwords and maintain roles and privileges? If so, doesn't the person in charge of assigning roles and privileges to users have to have CREATE USER or ALTER USER privileges anyway? Really, why would this be such an improvement over solution #1?
3. Any other approaches and/or experiences along this lines anyone wouldn't mind sharing?

On #2, suppose the application is set up in such a way that by default all of the security is handled in the database, i.e. when the application is installed and the scripts run to create the database it creates roles like these:
cst_role_product_editor
cst_role_product_admin
cst_role_product_viewer
cst_role_order_viewer
cst_role_order_admin
cst_role_order_editor
cst_role_store_viewer
cst_role_store_editor
cst_role_store_admin
in other words, for each object type in the database (stores, products, orders, coupons, catalogs etc.) all of these roles are created at the database level, and by default, each individual user has to be created using a CREATE USER command with the proper roles assigned.
If I take an application like this to the client and they say they want to implement LDAP and/or OID, when the people who create these users outside the database as you mention,
1) Does it create any additional actual Oracle users, and
2) Can LDAP and OID handle actually assigning these users to specific Oracle roles?
And one more question - can you explain what exactly is a proxy account to a rookie like me who thinks proxy sounds like the name of a night club you'd find in Las Vegas?

Automate the process of creation of master shapes

Hi,
I would like to know whether it is possible to create stencils via scripting in Visio?
More clearly, I have an excel sheet with different columns for shape names, connection points etc ., pertaining to a shape.I would like to read this excel sheet and create a stencil which contains master elements for the shapes mentioned in the excel sheet.
The shapes may be of box-type by default.
I would like to give the created stencil to the user to draw his own stuff using it.

Is it possible, yes. It will require significant skills. Obviously it will require excel skills (need to read worksheets)

If I bring up fire fox and not connected to internet I get and error when I shut it down and connect to the internet and bring firefox up it will not open unless I remove the prosses in task manager is this normal

when shuting down Firefox after not being connected to the internet the processes remains and I have to go into task manager and remove the process manually or I get a message that Firefox is already started and it will not come up

Sofar I have found (off internet),
A)that if you go into sleep mode, the wifi shuts down or powers down.
B)sleep mode must be disabled in order for wifi to continue.
C)you can check this by going into wifi and seeing the iphone every 20 seconds or so looking.
D)as far as handoff ,I still not to sure but I think BOOTH units must overlap each other in order to handoff from 1 to the other.
Show much bs on the web that I have to filter the pages and there not enough time in the day to go thru it all.

Unable to start the process chain

I am trying to start a process chain manually , but it gives me a message saying process has no predecesssor ?
what should be done to start the chain?

Did you copy processes from another chain? Sometimes when this happens, you end up copying all the processes.
First, remove the process chain from scheduling. In RSPC, at the top, select Process Chain --> Remove from Schedule. This will delete all the batch jobs for the process chain.
Next, move all the processes in the process chain with your mouse. Sometimes the maintenance will put one process on top of another so you cannot see them all. By moving all the processes, you may find the "unattached" process so you can remove it from the process chain.

I am working with EBP application.
I want to know the process of creation of shopping cart to the creation of PO in the r/3 system.
How to debug the whole process. I can create a shopping cart in the EB web. I want to know what is hapening in the backend during the creation of shopping cart.
I know the web transaction for the creation of the shopping cart. I tried to debug the process by going SE80 and giving the web transaction , but it is very cumbersome process and i was confused. Is there any way i can know what is happening in the backend and how the SC data is transferred to the bacend and how PO is created in the R/3 system

we can debug the shopping cart from sap GUI via tran. /nBBPSC01
1 Click on internal Goods/services and select the product for which you want to create a SC and press enter.
2 In command window input /h and press enter
3 Click on the button Order it will go in debug mode.
4 Insert break points on Statement - Select
5 Insert break points on Statement - Insert
6 Insert break points on Statement - update
and press F5 key to move one step ahead and F8 key to halt directly at each break point.This way go upto the save mode and order your SC at run time in debug mode.

How to hide/remove the 'Delete' button for a particular role

We have a role that can only Create and Edit the Accounts, Contacts, Opportunities, & Leads. So I modified the Default and Owner Access Profiles for that role and changed the Access Level to 'Read/Edit' for each of the above mentioned Record Types.
When the user is logged with this role they can see the 'Delete' button on all the Record Types. When they click on the 'Delete' button they get the 'Access Denied' message. Thats fine, but how do you hide/remove the 'Delete' button for this role so they don't try to click it.

At this time it is not possible to hide/remove the "Delete" button. This functionality is on the roadmap.

Approval stage issue

One of my users is going away so I need to add another user to an existing approval stage. However I cant. as i get the error
"Cannot update approval stage:existing authorization processes are based on current stage"
How can I add moe people onto an existing approval stage?

Hi,
Please make a copy of the database and test the following :
1) Clearing the already added draft document for approval with the same approval process and then changing/updating the approval stage?
2) If any draft rejected with the approval process then restoring the same.
3) By creating a new approval process with the updating approval stage and de-activate the current approval stage.
Check the complete procedure in the Demo as I am unsure what is the working and its effect in documents and reports.
Best recommendation would be to test the complete thing in Demo and then checking the above.

How to notify the selected user of a role.

Hi,
Currently I have GP Role Approving Officer link to the EP Group : ApprovingOfficer and GP Role Applicant link to EP Group: Applicant. I have also tag a list of EP user to the EP Group accordingly.
Whenever the Applicant submit a request via Web Dynpro, the Applicant can select a list of person who of the ApprovingOfficer Group from a dropdown list in WD UI. Once the Applicant submits the request, there will be a task pending in the ApprovingOfficer GP Runtime.
I want only the task to be pending only for that selected person of the ApprovingOfficer instead of all the person which is the current case.
For example,
Role - ApprovingOfficer consisting user A, user B and user C
If I am from dept A, the WD UI will displayed user A and user C for selection. Whenever, I select user A, I would like the pending request entry to be reflected in user A GP Runtime only.
how to I do that? can advise?

                   This is possible. In GP design time, now I think you are assigning the EP Groups at the block level (for each action). That is the reason the request is send to all the users (approvers) in that group and they all will see it as pending task in their inbox.
                    You have to pick the users dynamically at runtime. For this you can follow these steps.
1. When the Initiator selects his approver from the dropdown list of webdynpro UI (It should be a portal ID), capture it from the current context element and expose it into GP Context as an attribute say DynApprover (in complete method.... before this you have to define an attribute DynApprover in getDescription also).
2. In GP Design time at the block level, instead of assigning the roles directly, make it dynamic -
>
      -- Select the Process and click on Roles Tab.
      -- Select the Administrator, Overseer, Owner roles manually and leve it as "Initiation Defined" as Role Type
      --Change the Approver's Role Type to "Runtime Defined" (Select this option from the drop down in RoleType column).
      -- Select the Approver's Block and click on Roles Tab.
      -- In the Processor of Approver's Action Choose the GP Attribute (that you have filled with dropdown value and exposed already) from the dropdown list of the "Filled from context Parameter" Column.
Let me know if you need any clarifications and I am sure it can be made to work....

Boot hangs at the "Removing Leftover Files" stage

I just set up my /var on reiser4 again but i have a weird issue.
When i boot my 2.6.11-cko2 kernel it hangs at the "Removing Leftover Files" stage but it boots fine with 2.6.11-cko4 and boots fine with an old 2.6.9-nitro4.
So it can't be permissions can it? I used the same config for the -cko4 kernel as I used for -cko2 so they are configured the same.
And I can't just switch to -cko4 because that annoying cdrecord crash is back AGAIN!

I've got a new install (first time I've installed Arch, BTW -- and I'm fairly impressed) that is doing the same thing. My filesystems are ext3, for what that's worth. Usually when it hangs I can hard reboot the system and it will go past it on the restart, but I've had a couple of times where it has hung on consecutive boots. Would it be worth hacking that part of rc.sysinit to see if it is a specific step in the process that is causing the hang?
EDIT: I've gone ahead and added stat_busy/stat_done calls around each of the steps in that part of the boot process in rc.sysinit, as of late yesterday to see if there is any consistency on where the hang occurs. Interestingly -- or not, perhaps, I haven't had it hang yet... I'll keep an eye on it, and post more if I see a pattern.

Also, I had gone throught he process of syncing all 3 of my devices Ipad2, mini and my iphone5 to have the same passwords, etc. for ease of use. Now that seems to be all wrong as well. HELP! If the setting is greyed out perhaps you have restrictions enabled that would prevent someone from changing accounts. Settings>General>Restrictions>Allow Changes>Accounts.

My tv show and movies are getting stuck in the processing file stage

I purchased some TV show episodes and movies on itunes. They are stuck in the processing file stage, and wont let me pause them and restart. When I close itunes it wont open again. I have to restart my computer. Please help, they have been stuck for over a week now.

Might be better to run services.msc from the run dialog and shut down the service polietly.
