Removing the Bell Wire...

I have read on the internet that removing the bell wire can improve your broadband speed. All the guides on this are on the old sockets. I have a new filtered socket, I have taken the faceplate off and I can see that a wire is connected to terminal 3 which is where the ring wire is connected. If I remove this wire, is it safe and will it make any difference?

  • How do I remove the inside wire maintenance plan?

After several searches, I've gotten a lot of hits about coverage, but none about removal.  When it's listed on the "Change Services" screen, there's a list on the right that has a spot for "removed services," but there doesn't seem to be any facility for actually removing any services.
Inside wire maintenance is a service that I do not require, and like many, I'm looking to trim unnecessary costs from the monthly budget.  How do I nix this service?

You must call their business office during normal hours. Many items can be added, but most you must call to have removed.

  • How to Remove ZD7000 Antenna Wires from the Hole?

UPDATE: The Maintenance and Service Guide mentions that the antenna wires are attached to a card; that's why I cannot simply pull them out through the hole. There may be enough slack so that, for my purposes, I won't have to disconnect the wires.
I'm finding some issues with the step-by-step instructions that I referenced below.
    BB
    Hi,
I'm disassembling my ZD7000 laptop to replace the DC power jack. I started following the steps at http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repairing+HP+Pavilion+ZD7000+Motherboard/2878/1.
Everything went well until I got to Step 14, where I'm instructed to "Disconnect the 2 wires connecting the monitor to the rest of the laptop." In the picture, the antenna wire is one of the two wires highlighted with a red box. (Although the picture is somewhat confusing, because it shows a hand touching a third wire that is not highlighted.)
The HP Service & Maintenance Manual says, "Remove the 2 antenna cables from the hole and routing channel in the top cover." Since they are antenna wires, I assumed I could simply pull them out through the hole. However, I gave up after exerting as much pull pressure as I dared, which was a lot.
Am I missing something? I suppose I could cut the antenna wires and resolder them during reassembly.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Bill

How can I remove the Social app version 1.5 from my N8 Belle. Is there a component catalogue with descriptions what to delete in program manager?
I don't need Social/Twitter/Facebook on my business phone especially when these apps are modifying my addressbook.

You can go into Settings -> Installations -> Already installed and remove everything Social as I did
But if you do this then you will always be "warned" that you have an update waiting for you!

i guys i just bought my nokia c7 and i installed an antivirus called netqin it is annoying me alot and i want to remove it and when i do he tell me netqin is protected you should remove the protection before you uninstall it can any body help me

Generally it should ask you for a code for uninstallation, which itself is shown on the screen. Or try putting in any code that you've used when you configured your antivirus.

  • How do I keep the paint and clone tools from removing the background on the composition?

I am trying to remove handling  wires from a Muppet video.  I double click on the composition (mov file) and  open the layer panel.  I can get the brush, clone and eraser to work  just fine and everything looks great until I play the preview.  I can  see all my strokes on the original movie composition. For example, the white showing in the frame below.
Since I  am very new to AE, I would imagine that I am missing a setting, but it  seems like I have tried all of them and nothing is working.
I am  using CS5, version 10.  Using the normal mode and the RGBA channel on  single frame. I appreciate any help you can provide.  Thanks!

    Hi Rick,
I am trying to remove handler wires that can be seen on Elmo.  This is an
assignment for an online class.  Unfortunately, I asked this question early
last week of the instructor and he has not responded.  We are required to use
the clone, paint or eraser for the exercise.  Thanks for the tip regarding the
CC Simple Wire Removal tool.  That will come in handy in the future.  The
original clip of the Muppets does have a black transparent background. I
changed the composition settings so that I could better see the wires.  Some
of the wires are just over the background and some are over a part of his
clothes.  I can see my strokes when I toggle the transparency grid.  I will
try the clone tool on the alpha channel and see if that works.  If that is not
what I should be doing, please let me know.  Thanks for your help.
I'm not really clear on what you are trying to do. If you're painting on RGBA
and you paint with a white brush you will end up with a white stroke on the
layer. All channels will be white.

If you're painting with a white stroke using Alpha then you will paint white
on the alpha channel so there will be nothing changed on the layer.

If you are painting with a black stroke using Alpha then you will paint a hole
in the layer which will allow the layer below to show through, but if you're
painting on RGB or RGBA then you'll end up with a black stroke on the image.

If you want to paint out the wires then you must either use the clone tool or
make the brush the same color as your background. It looks like you have a
cream colored background so your paint tool must be the same color. If you
have wires over any other color, say over the body of one of the Muppets, then
you must carefully use the clone tool. Your screenshot looks like you're just
painting with a white brush. I'm assuming that your Comp BC color is white
(not usually a good idea) and that there is really no hole in your footage.
You can check that out by clicking on the Toggle Transparency Grid or by
dropping another layer below your footage.

Another option to remove the wires would be to use the CC Simple Wire Removal
tool. It works amazingly well on some shots.

  • REMOVING THE DISPLAY FROM A TITANIUM POWERBOOK

The display on my 15" Titanium Powerbook no longer works. The laptop works fine if I connect it to an external monitor. Does anyone if you can remove the display from the unit totally and still use the powerbook like a desktop computer connected to a monitor?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
I have a friend who did the same with an iBook, and managed to get it to work. Given the trickery of how the cables are hooked up, if you are at all queezy, have an authorized service technician help you out. You wouldn't want to expose the wires to moisture and dust that normally don't get exposed.

  • Removing the Screen

Is it possible to remove the 12"s screen and still have it run on an external monitor. See I bought this unit broken and I have been using it as a desktop ever since but I hate having to open it up to turn it on everytime I want to use it, so brings me back to my question.
however does anyone know a way to turn on a powerbook with out the need of opening it up would be great also, I have tried the old style keyboard with the powerbutton but it only works with actual desktops not laptops.

You'd have to attach the external display via the mini-DVI or mini-VGA port that is on the side. Find out which one your Powerbook G4 has by first identifying it on:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88248
Then read the specs to find out which mini port is included:
    http://www.info.apple.com/support/applespec.html
A mini adapter to VGA or DVI exists for the respective port from the Apple Store for around $20.
The trick becomes is seeing the Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Displays to select only the external display for output. Once you have that set, then you can remove the notebook's display. Note though, reconnecting it is not as easy as removing it. So I would be very cautious before venturing into such a mod. Some places like http://www.ifixit.com/ and http://www.modyourmac.com/ offer ways of doing this type of thing. And only if you are technically adept at notebook repairs and such would I even venture to go that far.
If your internal display is damaged, you can usually get it repaired for less than an authorized service technician at one of these places:
    http://www.dttservice.com/
    http://www.powerbookresq.com/
    http://www.microdocusa.com/
    http://www.macspecialist.com/
    http://www.techrestore.com/
They may also be able to help you with the mod, and make sure there aren't any dangling wires.

  • I need to remove a rig/wires from my final cut pro 7 project.  Can Apple Motion 4 remove wires/rig?  Are there any rig removal plugins for final cut pro?   Thanks!

I need to remove a rig/wires from my final cut pro 7 project.  Can Apple Motion 4 remove them?  If not can anyone recomment any plugins for Final Cut Pro or Motion that can remove them.  Thanks!!

In Motion 5 there is a plugin from CoreMelt called "SliceX" that does this.  But I don't know anything in Motion 4 that will do it.  You may get more help posting in the appropriate "Final Cut Studio" section of this forum.

  • Why is it impossible to remove the iPod touch screen without damaging it so that it cant be re attached?

My iPod touch heaphone jack broke for what must have been the 12th time for no reason, so I decided I was going to try and permanetly fix it. I saw a post on here saying that if you remove the screen and then make sure some wires are connexted properly, that you can fix it long term instead of having to hold the headphone cable in a strange position. So I remove the screen (which I have done before to replace the touch screen) and it pretty much all falls apart in my hands, the home button, the rubber sealing the outside of the screen and the actual screen all come apart, along with many small pieces of plastic. Now my iPod is no more that a paperweight with a useless LCD screen on it. Even if I did get a new screen, the headphone jack would still be unusuable and there would be no point.

I guess 4g is more complicated than 2g/3g. In 2g/3g it was way easier cause there are videos on youtube that anyone can do. Was your headjack stuck in the porthole? That is what happened to my sister's iPod. but my dad somehow got it out.

  • Does verizon care if I cut the copper wire?

I had FIOS installed a few months ago. When the tech came out I confirmed at the beginning of the install that he would disconnect the old copper wire, I didn't want it after the FIOS install. At the end of the install the copper wire was still up and when I asked the tech about it he said he doesn't disconnect it, he said that in case FIOS isn't the next big thing that he leaves the copper in case we have to go back. I know that after he installed the FIOS line that the copper wire still worked. I had interent and when he was trying to get the phone hooked up via FIOS he was using the copper wire to talk to some people. I don't really think I need the copper, so I want to get rid of it. I don't mind cutting the wire off the house but what do I do with the wire hanging from the pole? just wrap it around?

Now, I am wondering why you would want the copper removed?
In the meantime, as I wait for that reply.
    You are aware that:
Once copper is removed to get back on slower DSL speed to save money, it might cost you money?
    For example at http://www.broadbandreports.com/shownews/88075

When he tried to reconnect POTS service via a competing provider, he was told by Verizon that a new NID would run him $3,000.
Hint, hint. Are you sure you would to do that?

  • Is the BELL a safe built-in?

    Hi:
We recently migrated to Oracle Forms 10g. Our middle tier runs in Solaris 10 UNIX boxes. A couple of days I had a conversation with a friend of mine that dealt with issues after migrating to Forms and he categorically stated remove all BELL calls from you app - Remmember the application server does not have a bell. This is my friend so the following question does not even feel right: Should I give any value to his statement?
Boy, that felt dirty and just wrong.
    Thanks,
    Thomas

The BELL built-in can still be used in a web deployed forms, however it isn't really a useful function in a web form. It causes network traffic just to hear one simple ding. If you need audio alerts in a web form, you would be better served adding a Java bean to your form. At least you can be more creative than "ding".
That said, I recall there being some issues with it (BELL) in the base release, so be sure you are using latest releases. Version 10.1.2.2 is the latest Forms version.
