Removing the I POD as a Drive Letter once Done updating The I Pod?

Does anyone know how to rid a XP PRO OS of the "Drive Letter" that setting up the I Pod Leaves? I restored an I POD for my Daughter on my computer. And I will probably never need the software again on this system. But I am stuck with "I POD I:\"
in my drive letter tree. I uninstalled all of the I Pod Software but XP PRO still sees the drive even though its not present! Whats that About? Anybody have any Ideas on how to get rid of the I Pod Drive letter after you uninstalled all of the software that is used to "Restore a Pod"? Its driving me nuts seeing a Drive that dosen't exist in Explorer and My Computer. And Knowing Microsoft sooner or later it will cause me a headache.

- I would try resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
and then try restoring it.  This probably will not work but is worth a try.
- Next I would disconnect the iPod from the computer and let the battery fully drain.  When drained, charge it for at least an hour then:
-- Try resetting it as above and see if iTunes will see the iPod.  If it does, then restore the iPod.
-- If not in iTunes try placing the iPod in recovery mode to see if that make the iPod visible in iTunes.  If it does then restore via iTunes
-- Last, place in DFU mode to see if that makes the iPod visible.  If it does then restore via iTunes.

  • How do I assign a drive letter to the Ipad in Windows 8

    Hi,
I deleted an important video file and some photos from my ipad.
Last few days I have spent ages trying to find a utility that will recover the files, but most of the 'ipad specific' software is a crock.
I thought if I could assign a drive letter to the Ipad when I connect it to me Windows 8 PC I could run any number of much more trsutworty and stable applications to try and recover the info. However, I have googled and googled and can't find a way to assign a drive letter to the Ipad.
Can anyone advise if this is possible?
    thanks

You cannot. The iPad is not considered a removable storage device and will not operate as such normally.
There are software programs out there that will allow you to directly access the unit's internal memory. Google iFunBox. I don't know if it will give you low enough level file access to do what you want though and it certainly won't give you the ability to undelete files either. Whatever file access that's done is through iFunBox...you can't access the device (indirectly) through Windows Explorer (or Mac) even while running iFunBox.

  • HT5628 After running bootcamp, DVD drive is detected by Windows 8. But after installing drivers, no longer can detect. Device Manager shows that DVD drive is unplugged! Drivers in Bootcamp "removed" the DVD drive!

After running bootcamp, DVD drive is detected by Windows 8. But after installing drivers, no longer can detect. Device Manager shows that DVD drive is unplugged! Drivers in Bootcamp “removed” the DVD drive. I think there is an issue because I reinstalled Windows 8. If I don't install driver, then I have reduced functionality (no Apple keyboard, no sound etc), but once I install driver, I lose my DVD drive.

Hi, guys, I have had the exact same problem since the summer of 2010. Here's what I was able to find out.
Deleting upper/lower filters, running all those Fix Ya programs and other Microsoft crap is useless. This problem is most certainly has nothing to do with registry of any software on your computer. I took my HP 9620us to a couple of repair places and, they tried a lot of things and it appears that the root of this problem is a faulty motherboard connection. Of course, it costs about 400 bucks to fix it so I'm not sure I want to pay this kind of money.
Anyway, if somebody was able to fix it PLEASE post here to let us know. Again I am 99 per cent sure it's some piece of hardware in the motherboard.

  • I changed the drive letter on my iPod and now iTunes won't recognize it!

Help please! I contacted an Apple associate and they told me to change the drive letter of my iPod in My Computer. I did that and now iTunes won't recognize my iPod at all and I can't change the drive letter back to the original one. What do I do?

Try Resetting Your iPod while it's connected to the computer.
Hold down the Menu and Select buttons until you see the Apple logo (or Menu & Play/Pause in older models).
This will often get it recognized. It may take several attempts.
Try closing and re-starting iTunes. There have been cases where iTunes refuses to see an iPod, but after re-starting, it works again.
Also try re-booting the entire computer. Especially if the PC has been operating for a long time &/or many programs have been opened and closed, repeatedly.
Other USB connected peripherals may be the cause as well. Try removing all connected USB items and attaching the iPod. If you have a USB keyboard, it may be worth a try using the adapter to convert it to non-USB. If the iPod connects, continue plugging things back in until you have the problem return. You may have then isolated the issue. Sometimes it could be a printer, camera, Flash Card reader, or other attached device causing a conflict.

  • How to get the drive letter of a Volume using command prompt

Using windows command line tools i want to get the drive letter of a volume, by specifying its volume number.
    For example i have a HDD with 2 volumes: Volume-0 and Volume-1
I want to set a Variable say 'Letter'=<Drive Letter> such as
    SET Letter=<Command> <Volume Number>
Is there any command which can do this for me...
    Thanks...

    Hi,
You can use the diskpart tool to assign a drive letter to the drive by specifying the volume's number.
    1.Open Command Prompt.
    2.Type:diskpart
3.At the DISKPART prompt, type:list volume
Make note of the number of the simple volume whose drive letter you want to assign, change, or remove.
    4.At the DISKPART prompt, type:select volume n
Select the volume, where n is the volume's number, whose drive letter you want to assign, change, or remove.
5.At the DISKPART prompt, type one of the following:assign letter=L
Where L is the drive letter you want to assign or change.

Where can I buy a larger hard drive for my late 2008, 15" macbook pro?  From reviewing questions and answers on the support community it would appear that having Apple remove the old and install the new hard drive is recommended.  But how/where?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You can install the new hard disk yourself if you want to. You just need a 2'5" SATA II hard drive, which is compatible with your MacBook Pro. You can buy one at OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/ You can filter hard drives by computer, so press a "Click to view all...", choose your computer in the sidebar and it will give you the compatible hard drives.
There are different brands for the MacBook Pro. The most recommended are HGST and Seagate, which have good reputation. A 7200 rpm hard drive will give you extra performance

  • How do I get Lightroom to find photos on a USB Drive when the Drive letter changes?

THis is probably a simple question but I keep getting stuck.  I ha
ve my catalog and some images on my laptop hard drive, but the majority are on
an external USB drive.  Sometoimes the drive gets assigned
E:, F;, or G:, and when it cahnges, the catalog says the phots are missing.  How do I get
Lightroom to find the photos again?
    Tom Barnwell

The quick fix is to click on the folder containing the missing files and choose "update Folder Location" then find the folder on the USB drive. The longer term and fix you should apply is to set Windows to always give the USB the same drive letter. You can do this through the XP Disk Management application in Computer Management (Control Panel applet). The following screenshot is for XP, but Vista and Win 7 will something similar which can be accessed via Administrative Tools (see second screenshot).

  • How to remove the lower of 2 hard drives on 733 Digital Audio

I have an old 733 G4 that had a drive fail... I removed one to test it (the upper drive) which turned out to be the slave... So now I need to remove the master which is in the lower position.... However, there are no visible screws holding the lower drive in place. I used an alan wrench to access from the side panel, but there is some sort of tab holding the center in place (right under the apple logo on the side). It seems like if i force it it will break the side panel...
what it the trick to get the main drive out? its stuck in there, again, with no visible screws... am i missing something?

nevermind... found it.... darn small screw hidden under the jumpers.

  • How can I remove the hard drive from an iMac g4 before recycling it?

How can I remove the hard drive from an iMac g4 before recycling it?

There are take-apart guides online.  For example
    http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/systems/imac_g4/imacg4_takeapart.html
However, you can also consider securely erasing the hard drive instead.  You can do this using a Mac OS X installation disc with a version that your iMac G4 can boot from the optical drive.  If this is a viable option, please post back (include Mac OS X version on installation disc).

  • How to remove the old email address that was hacked from my iCloud account when iCloud won't let me?

How to remove the old email address that was hacked from my iCloud account when iCloud won't let me?
Pretty much the the email that I used (but didn't verify) to create my iCloud account was hacked and now I can't remove it from my iCloud account due to the iCloud password also being changed by the same person and the fact I had "Find my iPhone" app on my phone also??? I had to change my iTunes email as well but that was far easier so yeah :S.
Please help. I live in NZ, out in the country, so reception is rare and so is getting into the nearest town that has an Apple Store.
    Thanks

If you truly change your existing Apple ID's email address to a new email address, follow these instructions: iOS 7: If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
If you created a whole new Apple Account because you couldn't access the old one after being hacked, you will need to contact the Apple Account Security Team. Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security

  • Can I use my time capsule with a bad hard drive as a wireless router if I remove the hard drive?

I have a 500 GB time capsule with a failed HD (i've repalced the whole machine with a new time capsule).  I cannot get past the start up when I plug it in and the light glows a solid amber.  If I remove the hard drive can I use it as just a wireless router to exted my network?

Yes, although the existing power supply might go bad before long.. you can run the TC as just an AEBS..
It is a fairly easy job to get the hd out.
    http://www.ifixit.com/Device/Apple_Time_Capsule
Key to it is using hot air gun or even a hair dryer on really high temp lowest fan and spend enough time getting to glue to soften.

    Hi all,
I am wondering if it is possible by script to find out what the drive letter of a usb drive might be.
I have just inserted my USB stick into a socked and the operating system displays that the drive was recognized and that the drive letter is F:.

  • I have an ipad and an iphone.  For the purposes of facetime, I would like to associated my email address with just the ipad and my cell number with just the iphone.  I went to settings facetime on the iphone but it won't let me remove the email address.

Please see above.  I have both an ipad and and iphoen.  For the purposes of facetime, I would like to associate only my email address with the ipad and only the phone number iwht the iphobne.  However, I cannot remove the email address from the iphone.  So, when I get a facetime via email, it rings on both the iphone and ipad.  Settings>>facetime will not let me remove the email.

I wouldn't want to say exactly, however I would imagine that it has to do with the fact you use the same Apple ID on both devices. Since Facetime was activated on the phone, with the number, and then activated on the iPad with the email and same Apple ID, they are somehow linked. I'm not sure that you can separate it without having a different Apple ID on the two devices. Otherwise you can look at this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3367 and see if that helps you any.

  • Hi, my Ipod Schuffle (4 gen) dissapears from windows vista right after I execute Itunes, I've change the drive letter, erase temps in App data file, verified USB drivers, etc... Can someone guide on how to solve this?

Hi, my Ipod Schuffle (4 gen) dissapears from windows vista right after I execute Itunes, I've change the drive letter, erase temps in App data file, verified USB drivers, etc... Can someone guide on how to solve this?

If you want the shuffle to be always visible in Windows (outside of iTunes), you need to Enable disk use.
Select the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, select the Summary tab.  You should see a checkbox that says Enable disk use.  Check it and click Apply.
NOTE:  If disk use is enabled, you have to Eject the shuffle in iTunes, BEFORE you physically disconnect it.  If disk use is NOT enabled, you can disconnect the shuffle at any time, as long as iTunes is not doing something with it at that moment (such as syncing); the shuffle's light will then be blinking (to indicate DO NOT DISCONNECT).
So, unless you want to use the shuffle like a USB flash drive (carry random files on it), you may want to NOT Enable disk use.

  • TS1493 When I go to change the drive letter, I go through the entire process and when I click on disk management, my ipod is not listed. On my computer it is still listed as a digital camera

I have searched online and tried all the possibilities to fix the issues I am having but have sadly been unsuccessful. My ipod is being read as a digital camera, it is not reading on my itunes therefore I cannot sync any music or apps I have purchased. The only solution I couldn't try was to change my drive letter. Main reason being, my device did not show up under the disk management page.

If you have pictures (on your iPod) in the Camera Roll, that may be why the iPod is showing up as a camera. The Camera Roll is where pictures taken on the iPod, screenshots taken on the iPod and pictures saved from Safari are stored.
Copy the pictures from the Camera Roll and put them onto yuor computer. Once you have done that, you can delete the pictures from the Camera Roll and perhaps the iPod will stop showing up as a camera.
The iPod Touch does not have an accessible hard drive, so it will not show up under disk management.
