Removing the search bar whilst keeping the address bar?

I've been using Firefox but since updating to SL I'm wanting to go back to Safari. In previous versions I would remove the search bar and keep the address bar, (as I do in all browsers because I don't use the search bar, instead I search via keywords in the address bar), but that doesn't seem to be possible any more.
Why has Apple decided to join the two bars together!? It's random and really annoying.
Is there any way I can get rid of the search bar but keep the address bar?

It's hard to please everyone. Apple are obviously more than happy with the interface of Safari 4 at the moment and that is reflected in the millions upon millions of downloads of it, both for OSX and for Windows. These forums only represent issues from a very miniscule percentage of users who are having some issue or dislike some aspect of the software. You will find very few positive comments here as it is a troubleshooting and support forum. This is the first time I have heard anybody complain about this feature (or lack of) so it may well pay to send it through to Apple via the Bug reporter up in your right top corner of the browser.

I foolishly removed the firefox toolbar ( meaning I have no file,view, edit, bookmark, or any other kind of tab including the search box or even a address bar). How can I get them back without reinstalling firefox please?

Hi, I wanted more room to view on the web, so I thought I'd get rid of some of the toolbars that were taking up space. I went to the edit tab (i think) and then selected toolbars and then just unticked the ones I wanted to lose.Worked like a charm...
Only problem was that I unticked the wrong one. Now I can't search on the web or enter a url as there is nothing there anymore. Any I do mean NOTHING expect my roboform toolbar and the "Getting Started" Firefox tab just above that.
Reason I stressed the "nothing" is because I went on yahoo answers and someone just said...go to edit and...He obviously didn't get that I don't have any kind of firefox tabs left on my browser ( except for the "getting started" tab)
I don't want to uninstall and reinstall as I'm worried I'll lose my bookmarked pages.
Would be really grateful if you could advise me of an alternative solution to getting my tabs, search bar and address bar back please?

ps as I don't have any tabs I can't tell you which version I have installed, but your clever software looks like it's got it right.

Try this: press F10 or tap the Alt key to display the menu bar temporarily, then
View > Toolbars > Menu Bar
If that doesn't work, you could reset your toolbars to factory default using Firefox's Safe Mode. First, make a backup of your computer for safekeeping. To back up Firefox, see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information].
Next, start Firefox in Firefox
[http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode], and check only the box to reset toolbars. Be careful not to "reset" anything else if you didn't back up.

Yesterday I turned on my phone to download an app and the search/menu buttons at the top of the screen in the play store wouldn't work. I tried using the buttons that appear at the top in Walkman, Album, and Messaging, and they didn't work either. I then received a text and swiped down on my notification bar a few times but that wouldn't work either. Weirdly, the notification bar will only pull down in landscape mode. Help please?

It's quite easy for me to answer this question, your phone is water damaged. I used to have Sony Xperia Z and which was water damaged too, I couldn't pull down the notification/illumination bar. The water entered through your speaker at the top which happened to me. It's quite notable that you'll have to spend like half of the price of your phone to fix this issue...but I have something easy round for you. You should place that phone in a polythene bag for 3 days minimum with full of dried rice and every path ways that water can enter should be opened up. 'Cause mostly water damaged phones are fixed by rice because rice s-u-cks every water out of your phone. Note: Now I'm SP user. Had to sell that old phone after fixing the issue. I think what I did was right clicked on the toolbar when I went to the tab and properties to find out the name of it. I then opened the extensions and add-ons and found what it was there (I don't remember the extension)., You will find the mess involves the homepage tab you have. Click on your tool bar for customization and put the home page away. This doesn't remove it but it will stop bing from showing up. Instead, my tabs now go to a Google page but I can't put in a homepage. Instead I bookmarked Google to my menu bar and when I open a tab I just click that! Cheaper than a trip to a computer vet.
The only option you will have is to remove google, but if you do, you loose all your goodies. Though I did not try this myself, I fear saving your tabs,bookmarks , etc. will store with it, whatever this bing thing is. Hope this helps

The main error in this position is thinking ANY sized SSD can be "storage"
Any Macbook SSD should be idealized as a working platform computer system, containing all your applications, documents, and weekly-use necessary files; and all media files such as ‘big-data’ (music/PDF collections/video/pictures), unless directly needed in the near future, should be kept off the computer and on external storage USB or likewise bare hard drives.
You cant do what you want without removing the internal SSD

This has to do with the Time Zone Support selected in your phone. If you check in Settings>Mail, Contact, Calendars, there is a setting for Time Zone Support at the bottom of the page under Calendars. If that is turned to off, the calendar should support the local time. Because time is set to Automatic (since you say the time is correct on the iPhone), it is reflecting the local time. That information comes from the carrier, not the iPhone itself. You can check, however the iPhone says that if you turn off the Time Zone support, it should reflect in the local time. Do a test, if possible, and see if that will do what you are asking.

You should try taking the battery out and putting it back in, but then if that doesn't work, you should take it into your Apple Retail Store and have a genius at the Genius Bar take a look. That seems like a hardware problem to me.

I suspect unless he had some items in iCloud backup then they are gone. Connecting an iPhone to a different library from that to which it was previously connected will result in the device asking if you want to erase it.

How did you transfer the files to the iMac. If you exported the files out of the MB library using Kind = Current you should get the edited version. Any other option may not.
If you want to keep the two libraries "synced" any photos you want to move to the iMac should be added to an album, connect the two Mac with a LAN, Target Disk Mode, Transferring files between two computers using FireWire, with WiFi. and use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to copy that album from the MB library to iMac library. It will also copy the original and edited versions, keywords, titles, etc.

Weird. I have multuple monitors and the boot stuff always appears on my main monitor.
See if smc and pram reset clears the problem.
I have multiple screens on my Mac Pro. A normal screen, a projector and a USB-to-DVI converter.
What video card are you using? And USB-to-DVI is not the usual way for connecting monitors. I wonder if that is confusing things. So out of curiousity what happens if that monitor is not connected?

Search for shared library is impossible, as far as I know. Searches supported - are local and internet.

The difference between AutoVue Electro-Mechanical Professional and AutoVue 2D Professional is related to file formats supported and functionality which are related to those formats. For example when using Electro-Mechanical you can view all the formats supported by AutoVue (Office, 2D, 3D and EDA formats). When you are using AutoVue 2D you can only view Office and 2D formats. This is the main difference. Now if a functionality exist in Electro-Mechanical related to either Office or 2D formats the same functionality is exactly the same in AutoVue 2D. In your case if all you need to do is view Word documents and search for text you should definitely purchase AutoVue 2D Professional and you will be able to do it the same way you do it with Electro-Mechanical.
