Removing unused data sources in Web Analysis

I created report with charts and spreadsheets and it created its associated data source object in Web Analysis.
But the cube associated with data sources is renamed by my admin. so old data sources are corrupted.
How do I remove those old data source objects in WA?
I am able to create new data sources to same report and use it, but when i open report every time, it asks me to log in to validate old data sources.
Any suggestion is appreciated. i have goggled for this information i am out of luck. i would have export and import report if i was aware of changes to my cube.

Hello Vic,
-> Open the Report, switch to designer mode
-> Double click on the report.
-> Select the desired datasource
-> Hit the Delete key on your keyboard
It would ask, if it is safe to remove
-> Click ok

Problem with the data source and web.xml

I have an issue where JSC is removing my resource reference:

The application has been working great in the IDE for months then wham, no more data source definition. I try and add the reference manually and the IDE takes it out. I am "NOT" adding it to the .xml's in the build area. Why is JSC removing the data source entry?

This continues to be a problem. The only way that I can get around the problem is to drag a table from the data source onto the design pallete and then the datasource is added back to the web.xml. I can run fine for 10 or 15 runs then the entry is once again removed from the web.xml.

Add external data sources to Webi 4.1 (xls, txt)

Hello,
What is the best way (if any) to allow my users to add in their external data sources to Web Intelligence 4.1? So that they can join this with Universes or just create stand alone Webi reports from their own External sources like Excel spreadsheets, .TXT or CSV files?

We are actually using 4.1.1 (service pack 1) and when I'm logged in as the Administrator with 'Full Control' to Webi I only can select the following data sources (see attached):
- No data source
- Universe
- BEx
- Analysis View
I can upload both Excel Files and Text Files to Webi no problem via --> Documents --> New Local Document but can't seem to access either of them by using any of the above data source selections.
With 4.1.1 is there another access level or privilege I need to enable to allow folks to get at external sources? If so, how?

Problem in removing ODBC data source

In order to implement connectivity between Advanced Analysis and SAP HANA, I intended to install the SAP HANA client tools, and accidentally installed the 64 bit version. When I discovered the mistake, I installed the 32 bit version without uninstalling the 64 bit driver. Then I created data sources using both the HANAODBC and HANAODBC32 drivers in the USER DSN and SYSTEM DSN tabs respectively of ODBC configuration.
Some days later, I wanted to uninstall both the drivers using the hdbuninst.exe command - and after running it for both, I was able to remove the 64 bit ODBC data source that I had created. But I cannot remove the 32 bit ODBC connection. The error it gives me is "The setup routines for HDBODBC32 ODBC driver could not be found. Please reinstall the driver" followed by "Errors Found: The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and the Application".
I assume this is because I installed the driver with one version and try to install with another version (another SP) of software. Unfortunately, I have lost the previous version software dump. Reinstalling the driver from another spoftware dump and trying to remove the data source from User DSN also does not work. Any suggestions how I can remove the 32 bit ODBC data source?

Problem with 'restrict data' option in Web Analysis' Analysis Tool

I feel like i'm in the twilight zone.
We have made a report in web analysis, withh essbase as a source, and works fine.
We want to restrict data for customers that generate more than 1,000,000 revenue, for example
So, we go to Analysis tools, restrict data. The dialog window opens
We hit 'Select Column...' and nothing happens. No Column is shown, thus being unable to complete the dialog.
Should we enable something in essbase to allow this? We are newbies, but we think this should be pretty straightforward.
We have also tried to do that with the Analysis tools administrator, with the same result.
We are using Web Analysis 9.3.1.
Any feedback will be appreciated.

It got fixed by removing a filter from a dimension, and placing that dimension as a page.

Refreshing the Data Source View in Analysis Services

I have added columns to the SQL Database table that is used as a dimension in an Analysis Services Cube. The new columns will be used as additional Property Fields for the dimension. When I attempted to refresh the Data Source view so that the additional columns are present, I am given the following error:
System.Data
Property not accessible because 'Parent Columns and Child Columns don't have type-matching columns'
I have done nothing to the columns used for the parent of child and the error message provides nothing to gon on. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Thanks for your response. I will try and answer your questions
1) I have not tried removing the columns yet. I will try that this afternoon but have limited hope. The two columns I added are simple text columns that will be used as attributes in the dimension. I have made no change to the parent or child columns.
2) The table I modified is the source table for a parent-child dimension.
3) The reference to the "check list" does not take me to any kind of check list.
4) The parent-child dimensions I am trying to modify have been in use for months and the parent and child columns do have the dame data types.
5) I have also check the data types between the dimension table and the fact table. they use the same data types (small int).
6) I have not made a collection for the parent key, it is a single column. The remainder of your last paragraph is not clear to me. Can you give me an example.
I am fairly inexperienced with Analysis Services, please talk slow and use small words :-)

Problem with a Data Source in Web Logic

Currently i am deploying a 11g ADF application, i am testing my application in a Web Logic 10.3.2.0, and in the beginning all works OK, but when the user test the application like a half of hour the data source throws this exception:

This error only occur in the development server of the company, never in the embed WL of my JDeveloper 11 g

I need to retrieve "YearToDate" data from Essbase into a Web Analysis report such as I select a specified month from a drop down list and it displays the data till the selected month. I couldn't find any topic related to "YTD" in Web Analysis user guide. Does WA support this feature?

My database not listed at SQL data source in Web Expression 4

Can anyone help me out?
Am not sure whether this is the correct place for my problem.
I set up SQL Server 2005. Created a database named "employee" and a table under it "emp_info"
I tried to connect it from Microsoft Web Expression 4 through SQL Data Source control. Well, the connection test is successful but the database i created is not shown in the drop down. However, it shows the system databases.
Again i create the table under one of the system databases, and tried to connect it. Those system tables which are there from before are only available to connect but not the table i newly created.
I have checked the properties, permission of the table as well as the database. Nothing is wrong there.
Will attach screenshot after the forum admin verify me.

Displaying Data Source'd Web Apps

I have 2 web apps
A. Which is a list of people
and
B. Which is a list of articles that has a data source of A.
Is there any way for me to now display the Articles (B) under each individual web app inside web app A.
So, I want the web apps from A, to display the articles from B, but only if that person was selected as a source

BC lacks this by default. You would have to do something like create classification categories for every A item the same name then the module for B in the layout for A of items on that classification.

Using COGNOS as an infoprovider/data source for WebI...?

I saw a job posting today that listed a requirement that I am pretty sure is IMPOSSIBLE...
WebIntelligence report experience with using COGNOS as an infoprovider/data source for BOBJ is an important skill.
Data sources for client will be both COGNOS and SAP.
Now, it wouldn't be the first time that a client spec asked for the IMPOSSIBLE- but it got me to wondering if maybe I am wrong in my understanding that COGNOS 8 still uses PowerPlay cubes that are 100% proprietary and can only be read with the CONGOS report-design tools.
Is there actually a "supported" way to use COGNOS as an infoprovider/data source for BOBJ...?
Maybe using some COGNOS equivalent of QAAS...?
I have no intention of applying for this job - but would like to know if it is technically possible.

It's been more than a week since I posted this question and nobody came up with a "YES" here or on the BOB Forums...so I am going to close this question as an IMPOSSIBLE request.
Based on the current technology - COGNOS cubes can not be used as an infoprovider/data source for WebIntelligence.

I dont think this is possible since you can only connect to an Essbase data source in Web Analysis.

SAP HANA as a data source for Analysis Services

I tried to use SAP's .net provider for HANA as a data source for an Analysis Services cube but to no avail.   I can connect, create a named query and preview data from the data source view designer but when SSAS actually tries to run the query,
it wraps the named query in another query and produces a syntax error.
For example, if the named query is "select * from ENTHANA.MARA",
SSAS sends a query like this "SELECT [test].* FROM (select * from ENTHANA.MARA) AS [test]" (Test is the name of the named query).
I know SSAS wraps queries and that's fine - except that brackets are not a valid way to quote an identifier in HANA. HANA uses double quotes like Oracle.
Is there any setting in SSAS that can affect this behavior?   Will HANA ever be a fully supported data source for SSAS? If so, when?

According to your description, you are creating a SQL Server Analysis Services project, now what you want is using SAP HANA as the data source, right?
SSAS support many type of data source. However, as you can see on the link below, SAP HANA data source was not listed on that link. So this type of data source is not supported in current version of SSAS. Microsoft will update that document when it is supported.

How to restrict "insert new data source" in Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office report

Hi Experts,
There is a requirement in my current project: when an end user access a Analysis, edition for Office Report from BI platform, they can view and refresh the report. But users should not be able to add new data source in that Analysis Report. As per my understanding, that means "insert data source" button should remain disable for the user.
I have check all available access levels from CMC, but cannot find any. It will be great if you let know correct access level in CMC for the same.
Any comments/recommendation will be appreciated.
I am using BOXI4.1 SP3 version with Microsoft Office 2013.

The answer from our account manager is that there is only one license model for AO - which means every user is able to refresh, navigate, use planning functions and add source data (whith the standard license). Adding a DS is not really more then navigation because you can build a Query with all key figures and characteristics of a cube which gives you flexibility. That makes sense because there are no authority checks installed from SAP to avoid this (maybe this is different in combination with HANA and workspaces) .
Futhermore SAP has no possibility to measure how many users are doing which functions instead of recording every action of every user. But where should they do it? You could use it with BO or with Netweaver or in mixed Environments. The BO license check is done on BO platform and there you have no possibility to create new users which you need for connection (I'm not sure how this is monitored in a pure BW Environment without BO).
Furterhmore another possibility to add new data is using vba. You don't really need the buttons from the menu.
