Removing unwanted user templates

I have an old template that I don't use anymore and I am wondering how to remove it?

I think, conventionally, user templates are stored at:
~/Library/Application Support/iWork/Numbers/Templates/My Templates/
(where ~ means your home directory). You should be able to navigate there down through the folders in the Finder, find your template file and drag it to the trash.

  • Remove unwanted user, group and ID.

Can this be posted as a user tip in my name? I am unable to post to user tips.
After a recent aborted MacPorts install on OS X 10.5.8 I followed MacPorts uninstall instructions at:
    http://guide.macports.org/chunked/installing.macports.uninstalling.html
The uninstall worked well except that I was left with a user called 'macports' with ID 503 which showed up when adding a user in Get Info or using AppleJack. I was not able to remove this user in System Preferences/Accounts nor add another user with the same name.
I eventually discovered that this could be resolved by removing the following as root:
    /private/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/macports.plist
    /private/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/groups/macports.plist
This has removed MacPorts and ID 503 from Get Info and AppleJack and I can now create a new user called MacPorts in System Preferences/Accounts despite the remaining historic entries in /private/var/db/dslocal/indices/Default/index.
I assume this will work in non-MacPorts situations where the user cannot be removed in System Preferences/Accounts.
This will probably work in all versions of Leopard and some later OSs.

    Mac OS X 10.7.5 Lion
    1. enable root user
              click apple(menu)
              ->System Preferences...-> System - Users & Groups
              unlock-> click
                      ->Network Account Server: Join...
              ->Open Directory Utility...
              unlock
From Directory Utility menu Edit->Enable Root User
    2. switch to root
             su root
    3. delete files Neville Hillyermentioned
              rm /private/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/macports.plist
              rm /private/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/groups/macports.plist

  • Remove Unwanted Users

Recently I sent out my iBook for repair. Following much confusion and back and forths, my computer finally arrived home with a new memory, a new logic board and a new hard drive. Of course, it wasn't working right, so I restored the OS 10.4.11 and software.
The problem is that when I log in, I see another account (besides mine) for Other (blue with the starry background). I have no idea how to remove this. Also, when I first started the restore process, I need to start-up from the CD and change my password back (it wasn't working either). When I went to do this, there were about 6 other names there. My guess is that this is from all of the technicians who worked on my computer. Can I remove these names? Thanks for any help.

Yes. Other does not exist there. Now, I went to my start-up CD... and found more information that might help you help me though.
Okay. At the login-in, I have 2 choices: my account and other. Other is actually the System Administrator (root) with a password. Again, I think the folks that worked on my computer set it up this way. So, is there someway to remove that user? I can't see it when I log-in to my account; I can only see my account when I log-in as Other. Does that help?

  • How to disable/remove unwanted language templates in ISE 1.1.1

    We're using ISE's Sponsor/Guest Portal function.
We customized the english default lanuage template.
But we do not want to translate/customize all default language templates.
How can I disable/remove the unwanted templates? (The delete button is disabled for them)
Otherwise our users would be able to select templates that are not customized.

Lots of other ISE users also looking for the same.
An enhancement request has been filed on this:
CSCuc02562   ISE could allow sponsors to specify language templates in sponsor portal
    Symptom:
ISE does not provide a mechanism for a sponsor and/or admin to specify which language templates appear under the "Language Template for Email/SMS Notifications" drop-down when creating a guest. This means that all language templates appear in that drop-down, even unnecessary ones. Eg: Chinese templates might not be needed in Germany, and other way round. This makes the drop-down unnecessarily loaded and unpractical to use.
If the list of language templates grows further with custom templates, the drop-down becomes unpractical.
    Conditions:
Try to specify useful templates for guests in the sponsor portal
    Workaround:
    None
As of now, you can statically assign a language template to a portal instead of relying on browser locale. Under the configuration of the portal, in the Customisation tab, you can force the language template to whatever language you need, by unticking "Use browser locale".
    Customizing the Sponsor Portal

    hope it helps.

  • User template stoarage location

Create new, from template, user, browse to location select VI. VIi is now added to the list, however, the wrong VI has been selected. There is no delete or remove function available. This implies that the lis tof user template is stored at some location where the contents of this file are pointers to the location of the user template. I have been unable to locate this file so that I can modify it to remove the incorrect VI from the list. What is the location of this file so that it can be modified? We have looked all over the drive for it to no avail, nor has the documentation revealed antthing other than how to add to the list which has obviously been done and works well, except when you piuk the wrong one. The attached PDF shows the file we want removed from the list.
    Attachments:
    user template.pdf ‏89 KB

The quick and dirty way to get rid of it is to go into the labview.ini file (next door to the LV executable) and get rid of it from there.  The two entries are NewDlgRecentTemplates.pathList and perhaps NewDlgLastSelected (if you selected the unwanted one last time).

  • How do I remove unwanted updates from the App Store?

How do I remove unwanted updates from the App Store? So you understand better what I'm referring to:
I have the App Store icon in the Dock. When there's an update a red number appears on said icon. Well, I went to check on the updates and it's for 4 different applications I either no longer have or use. One of them is an update for Lion OS users. I'm still on Snow Leopard, so it doesn't even apply to me.
So there they sit... I'm not going to download the updates... so how do I get rid of them?

    Hi Andy ..
    no longer have or use
If there are updates available for apps you have deleted, try this.
    Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore
Move the Cache.db and Updates files from the com.apple.appstore folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, restart your Mac.
For any apps you still have installed but do not use, the updates will still be available from the Updates top of the App Store window and show on the red badge on the App Store icon in the Dock.

  • REmoving Flash  Web templates in LR4.4

    Hi,
As Flash is on the way out (and can't be viewed on iPads anyway)  I wanted to remove the Flash templates from my LR web modiule but I can't find a way to do it. Newither can I find the files onthe HDD.
How do I remove the Flash templates fromthe template browser (in Lightroom Templates not user templates, Ican find those)
    Regards

"How" you remove them depends which operating system you use.
However, they'll just come back at the next update. It's easier to ignore them.

  • User template in Lion?

    Hello everybody..
Why can't i make user templates in Lion like i could with snow leopard and leopard etc.
I follow the same guide as Snow Leopard but, it won't work?
    /System/Library/User Templates
Do anybody know, what i am doing wrong?
    Greetings Alex...

What up fellow MacHeads. Try this:
    Found it on MacWorld
1: Still valid for 10.7 Lion.
2: Remeber to NOT copy(or remove) the Login.keychain on the account you use to set it up.
Otherwise the login will complain that it could not unlock the keychain, and promt for your setup-password.. ;-)
The first login will auto-create the login.keychain anyway, so simply delete it in the Template.
3: Don't leave Finder windows open. They will point to your setup account, and not have access.. ;-)
4: On Lion, clear out ~/Library/Saved Application State
Otherwise the apps you had open under the setup user will open in states not so good (like web sessions etc..)
5: Remember to copy the files into the language of the Login Window language!!!
Pr. default, that is English, but if you selected something else during the OS install, like Danish, you need to copy the files into "User Template/da.lproj" and not "User Template/English.lproj" !!

  • How do I remove unwanted apps in the general settings of a iphone ?

How do I remove unwanted apps in the general settings of a iphone ?
I am not talking about apps that you touch and hold and can delete, but in the general setting area.
I never will use Nike, Twitter or any of the other apps that apple put in this phone.
I want them out of the general settings, so why cant I get them out. I own the phone not apple.

Many devices have extra information that you cannot remove. On other phones carriers can install a great deal of other information that is called bloatware. At least that cannot be done on the iPhone, but it does have its share of things that people want to remove. Again, the feedback link is where you need to address your thoughts. • Migration Assistant doesn't respect User Templates

    Hi everyone,
I work doing Information Technology support for a small (of about 30-40 people) communications department. We just ordered about 9 computers, and they all came with Lion.
Some people that I work with are very change-phobic, and I've created a default user template that respects what they've been doing for a long time and includes what I need to do my job. The main things I've changed include reversing the natural scroll direction (I know, I know, I like it myself, but like I said, some people I work with are incredibly change-phobic) remote login settings, showing the Library folder, and including default login software (such as new backup software we've decided to deploy at the same time as new computer deployments).
I've found that creating new users on the system respects the user template:
    (found at /System/Library/User\ Template/English.lproj/Library/Preferences/).
But when I migrate users (either choosing to migrate settings, or not migrate settings), it doesn't matter, as the OS defaults back to not including the new login software and reverting scroll direction.
I can't hold off much longer in deploying these computers, but I know that I'll immediatly get a lot of requests about how to put settings back to the way they were.
Is there a way to have Migration Assistant respect the default user template (when not migrating settings)?
    Best,
    Allen

    Hi John,
While your link was certainly informative, it isn't really addressing my problem, though I appreciate your response.
I don't know if this may interest you, but you can force the Setup Assistant to run without reinstalling Lion. Just boot into single user mode (command+s), then remove this file:
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
You see, your mac, upon every boot, checks to see if that file is present. Its not really even a file that holds any information (its just a file named .AppleSetupDone). If the file is not present, your computer will run the "first-run wizard," or Setup Assistant.
It's also a trick you can use if you don't have an administrative account on a computer.
Anyway, I'm still hoping I can get answers about why migration assistant refuses to respect the defaults I've set at:
    /System/Library/User\ Template/English.lproj/Library/Preferences/
    Best, and thanks again,
    Allen

  • Removing the user from standard task group

    Experts,
I need to remove the one user from the standard task "Display MC Document (outbound w/o IDoc)". Since it is a standard task I'm not able to make any changes.
I hope I need to change in the agent which is assigned to this task. But donno how to find the agents assigned to this task.
Please help me in resolving this.
    Thanks,
    Naveen

    Hi Naveen,
If that user assigned as the 'Possible agent' of the task then you can remove the user easily.
In the workflow template, go that activity. Under the Task ID there is a option called 'Agents' and click that icon to open. In the new screen, the possible agents of this task will be displayed.
Select the desired user and delete it.
    Thanks,
    Viji.
