Removing video backdrop flicker

Hi Gang,
I am using FCS3 and have all the software installed- motion, color, FCP, etc,.
This is less a problem with the software than a question about technique.
I have a video of a "talking head" interivew with an image from an LCD projector projected on a screen behind the interviewee.  The interviewee is blocking some of the screen.   Pulling the HD 30p video from the camera and reveiwing it, I realize that there is an annoying, periodic, flicker in the image behind my subject as he talks.  The image goes from slightly blue, to slighly yellow and back every few seconds.   This is really annoying and distracting, and I'd like to remove it somehow using some sort of matte, and replace it with a stationary image.
Since I would like to use many minutes of this video, I need a way of dynamically, instead of one frame at a time, subtracting the still (but constantly changing in color) background image, leaving the subject in the foreground.  Unfortunately, I cannot shoot this video again, or I'd simply double check that I'm not getting mismatch between the frame rate of the video and the frame rate of the camera.   (Normally when I do this, everything comes out fine.)
Can anyone think of a way to do this?

  • Photobooth's new video backdrops fragmented

    Hi
I just started using Leopard on my Macbook, and when I use photobooth I am having troubles with the new video backdrops. I move out of the frame as it requests, and it says background detected, but when i move back into the frame my head and the area around it are all fragmented. Its kind of interesting to see what fish moving through my head looks like, but not really what I'm going for... Id love to know what I'm doing wrong here??

Try the previous suggestion of a more plain background, but on some of the screen types like the fish. Try holding your hand over the camera instead of moving. I saw that tip somewhere before and it works on certain effects where only the background is altered. (ie won't work where your face is made upside or inverted or any other effect.) The effects are basically looking to replace what appear in the background. In professional versions this type effect, they use a certain color to depict what to remove. Called Green Screen or Blue Screen. You can improve your effect by having a simpler background behind you when you start.

  • No Video Backdrop Option with 24" iMac

I cannot get the video backdrop as an option in iChat. I know that there are system hardware requirements before this option will trigger, but theoretically I meet/exceed these conditions:
I have a iMac 24" with 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SD RAM. Theoretically then I have a top-of-the line iMac (which I love).
I also just got Leopard and all software is up-to-date.
Nonetheless, for the life of me, I do not know how to get iChat to trigger video backdrop as an option. Any Ideas?

We are talking about open and Video chat or Preview of yourself and going to the Video Menu and the Video Effects item ?
And then selecting the arrow bottom left and right to scroll through the Options ?

  • Video backdrop effects don't show up as option

Hi there. Just got my leopard. Trying to use the video backdrop effects, but I only have the first 2 options of effects. (I've tried it in the preferences section as well as during a video chat - the backdrop option panels don't appear as choices)
    Any reason for that?

    Hi
    Quoting iChat Help:
Requirements for video effects and backdrops
If your computer meets certain requirements, you can change the video effect or backdrop of a video chat.
■Requirements for video effects (also called Photo Booth Effects):
■Macintosh computer with an Intel processor, or a multiprocessor PowerPC computer with a graphics card that supports Core Image hardware acceleration
■High-speed broadband Internet connection that supports at least 128K bits per second for both downloading and uploading
    ■Requirements for backdrops:
■Macintosh computer with an Intel processor
■iSight camera, or a camera with fixed focus and exposure and white balance
■High-speed broadband Internet connection that supports at least 128K bits per second for both downloading and uploading
To see what type of processors are in your computer, choose Apple menu > About This Mac.
To find out if your graphics card supports Core Image hardware acceleration, choose Apple menu > System Profiler, and then click Graphics/Displays in the Hardware section. The list should include the line, “Core Image: Hardware Accelerated.”
To find out the speed of your Internet connection, contact your Internet service provider (ISP), or refer to the literature your service provided. Note that the speed listed in the service provider’s literature is a maximum speed; the actual speed may be lower.

  • Remove Videos Easily?

I bought my first iPod (iPod Nano, 8 GB, 3rd gen) and I have subscribed to over 100 podcasts and all those videos and sound files take approximately 9 GB from my 60 GB hard drive, but my laptop has Linux installed also, so in practise I have only 30 GB dedicated to Windows and I'm running out of disk space. In iTunes is there an easy way to remove videos I have seen instead of clicking a podcast and removing the video(s) one by one?

I have the same problem, here, anyone could help?!!!

  • Removing Video When Editing Sound

    Hi!
    I'm having an issue where I mis-speak, or mis-pronounce
something. I have to say it again, but if I remove the sound, the
rest of the audio doesn't sync up with the video. If I replace with
silence there are long silences that I don't want. Is there any way
I can remove video when I remove sound so it all syncs up?
    Thanks!

Does anyone know how the labeling of AIFs work in Garageband as I cant see a pattern.
The pattern I found seems to be like this:
filenames of aif-files start with a prefix, which is the name of the track, as to be seen in the track head at the time when the clip was recorded. If you later change the track name it will not change the filename,
the filenames are numbered with a chronological counter. The first clip recorded on that track is numbered "1", then "2" and so on. The number does not reflect the position on the track.
So, for example, an audio file named "sopran#01.aif" is the first recorded audio clip on a track, that was called "sopran" when the clip was recorded.
This is what I observed GB'11, I am not sure about previous versions of GB.
    Hope that helps

  • Phot booth video backdrop too slow

I'm trying to use the new video backdrop feature of photo booth with my new macbook, i have 2 GB Ram so i guess its not a hardware problem. The viedo is very slow and my face does not look right its like cutted.
    Any help?

Leopard doesn't handle PhotoBooth application well at all. Downgrading the quality of applications like this (akin to the new Preview app) is VERY annoying, I expect better from Apple.

    Hello MarcelTT,

  • How do I remove videos from my ipad?

How do I remove videos from my iPad mini?

What app are they in ? If the Videos app then you should be able to delete them via the Edit button at the top right of the Films or TV Programmes selection screens in the app, or via Settings > General > Usage > Videos (that also has an Edit button top right, and you can swipe/drag across from right-to-left on an individual film or episode and you should get a Delete button on it). Films and/or TV programmes in the Videos app that have the cloud symbol on them are not stored on your iPad, they are only in the cloud (Settings > iTunes & App Store > Videos 'off' to stop them showing).

  • How can i remove videos and music that are not on my ipad mini but are still taking up space and are showing that they are there even after i've deleted them?

how can i remove videos and music that have been deleted from the ipad but are still showing in settings as still being on the ipad?

I believe that I have the same issue with iPad Mini with Retina Display, iOS 8.1. No matter which way I delete videos from my iPad, they will still show as "deleted", yet the space is not cleared up. I tried restore and then a full restore (clean setup as a new iPad) and it still does this to me. I can solve it by doing a restore each and every time I download a video and delete it. Rather frustrating. Has been a problem since day 1 of iOS 8. I'm yet to try the power+home button reset. It may very well work, but I am surprised that a "fresh setup" of an iPad didn't resolve it from ever occurring.

  • Video Backdrops

I have a 2.2 GHz intel Macbook Pro, and iChat 4.0.2 and when i access the video backdrops such as the roller coaster or clouds, there appears to be blotches with no backdrop, just the original image before the backdrop was selected. is an update required that i missed or something?
    any help is appreciated

    Ok,
    Things to look out for.
Low level of light in the foreground or High level in the Background will not help the Camera and software involved identify you from the background.
Also such things as forgetting to make sure the colour of the Background when you are out of shot is not the same or very similar in the lighting conditions to the clothes you are wearing.
An Example is the colour of the chair if it appears in shot.
Many a chair is black, as so can clothes which may well be different from the colour of the walls you have.
This can also apply to the changing oolours with Backdrops like the fish one.
On the whole Front lighting is the key.

  • Removed Video app - restoring didn't

My daughter removed Video and Maps apps. I tried to restore my iPod Touch but I got error "iPod could not be restored. the device isn't eligible for the requested build.". I have iPod Touch gen 2 with 3.1.3.
I have always used my iPod touch by proper way. So what now?

I only saw that she removed Video app. She removed it by normal way like other apps.
I think issue can be related to my MacBook. My MB display get broken (my daughter dropped it) and I bought similar second hand model. Then I just changed hard disk. Maybe I will try to restore it in other mac.

  • Suggestions for removing video noise from converted Hi8 footage

I am about to start capturing Hi8 material into FCP 6 through a Sony D8 camcorder that does the analog to digital conversion. Even after cleaning the tape heads, I notice a very few lines of noise at the very bottom of the frames - like a dirty head. From the camcorder side everything looks normal - no noise. From the FCP side in VTR mode you can see the noise. I am not sure if this is an artifact from the analog to digital transfer or if the tape head is still dirty.
Question: assuming I cannot eliminate the noise on transfer/input, is there an easy way to apply a universal filter or horizontal "clip" function to imported video to remove the bottom few lines of video? I guess I could always overlay a black canvas covering only a few lines on the bottom, but maybe there is a more elegant solution?
Thanks in advance for any counsel!

What you are seeing are timing errors that are an artifact of analog recording and generally are outside the viewable area of a CRT TV (i.e. in the overscan zone). If you are setting these up for digital presentation - web or computer play only, these items may be seen.
You have a couple of options to deal with the tearing ..
    • Recapture the material using a Hi8 deck and a separate analog/DV converter with a full frame Time Base Corrector between the tape machine and the analog/DV converter. This will clean up the timing errors but is an expensive proposition.
    • Crop the image. This will leave a very slight letterbox effect and may not be noticeable unless you mix the material with non-cropped material.
    • Slightly enlarge the material so that the tearing falls outside of the 720x480 area. Expanding images much beyond 110% softens/pixelates the images noticeably and my not be acceptable.
    • Live with it.
    Good luck.
