Removing widgets from widget bar

I want to remove a widget from the widget bar but there is no Widgets icon in the widget bar. When I open Dashboard and click the open buton to reveal the widget bar the widget bar rises up at the bottom and the menus go up and away at the top of the screen. There is no Manage Widgets to click on. Help!

Welcome to Apple's user-to-user discussion forums.
You could try moving "com.apple.dashboard.plist" to the desktop and then opening Dashboard to see what happens. The fastest way to find this file is to paste the name (without quotes) into Spotlight. You will get one entry. Click on Show All and you will then be able to drag it to the Desktop.
There are also some (mostly free) 3rd-party widget managers listed on VersionTracker which might help.

  • Remove name from menu bar + possible bugs?

Hello, I was wondering if it were possible to remove my name from the Menu bar. It currently says my full name and is clickable, dropping down to my icon and a link to the Login Window and Users & Groups Preferences (but there's no option to remove it in these preferences!) Thanks!
Also, Is there a thread where we can post bugs we come across? Becuase I've found a couple.
I'll post them here for now:
    1) When I go into Finder > Preferences, the menu box flickers strangely when I switch between the option tabs (General, Labels, Sidebar, Advanced).
    2) Scrolling left and right through folders in the Column view is hesitant. It doesn't flow smoothly like it does when I scroll up and down.
If there's anywhere I can report these bugs, please let me know!

    name from menu bar:
the easy way: hold command and then drag the name icon out of the menu bar (just like how you remove stuff from the dock with the difference of pressing command while you do it).
the less easy way: open system prfs -> Users and groups [press locket if locked] then click login options and uncheck fast user switching menu

    Hi Simran
    1. You can get proper variable without decimal point.
    2. Use function "FLOOR" and get the output value assigned to variable defined in step 1.
    data : wv_wh_no type p decimals 0 .   -
you take as per your requirement
    Let say,
    wv_dec_no = 1.0001.
    w_no = FLOOR(wv_dec_no).
    Hope it will help you.

  • How do I remove things from my bar at the bottom??

I have just bought my first mac and im struggling I have clicked 0n console, terminal, keychain access and grapher and theyve all stayed on the task bar at the bottom. How do I remove them??

    Removing items from the Dock
To remove an item from the Dock, drag its icon off the Dock onto the desktop; the icon will disappear in a poof of smoke. Don't worry, you didn't permanently remove the item from your computer; you simply got rid of its Dock icon. If you want that item back on the Dock, you can easily locate the application, file, or folder in the Finder, and drag it back into the Dock. Keep in mind that there are some icons that you can't remove, such as the Trash and the Finder.

  • Remove item from menu bar.

    To keep this short...
Installed Norton Personal Firewall. Turns out it is not compatable with Intel Macs. I uninstalled Norton, removed it from the start-up items, but I cannot find a way to remove the Norton icon from the menu bar. Apple + drag does not work.
    Any suggestions?

Nothing in login and I went to the link and downloaded what I thought would be the appropriate un-installer. When I opened the un-installer it opened in Text Edit and looked something like a bunch of crazy symbols.
I used the un-installer that came with disk and after I hit un-install, I got a message that just read "error" over and over, but the icon in the menu bar was gone. However, the next time that I started the MacBook I was greeted with a prompt that I installed software that could pose a security risk and that I should re-start the computer. I did eventually re-start and the icon is now back in the menu bar which I believe would indicate the Norton is still on my MacBook...somewhere.....what the heck!?

  • Can't remove Hamachi from Menu Bar (icon)

I own a second hand 17" 2006 MacBook Pro, today and yesterday I have had to reboot the system because it just quits on me. After getting back onto it by resetting the PRAM, I went on a deleting mission getting rid of photos and games and their relevant files to make sure this wasn't blocking it up with unessential items.
However, I've tried to delete Hamachi, used for game servers, and I can't delete it because it lives in the Menu Bar, so logically I went to see how to remove it but Command+click/drag just doesn't work, it just opens the drop down menu. I searched further and found that if this didn't work I could simply just click 'Quit' on the drop down menu, but that does nothing either!
I haven't got a clue how to get it out of my menu bar and until I do, I can't delete the supporting files also, help anyone?

    Uninstalling Hamachi on Mac
Follow the instructions to remove LogMeIn Hamachi from your Mac:
In Finder, go to the Applications folder and double-click HamachiUninstaller.
Choose if you want to Remove all settings and Hamachi configurations.
If you select this option, all your networks and membership information will be lost.
If you leave the option unselected, you will have all your networks
on the Hamachi user interface when you reinstall LogMeIn Hamachi.
              Click Yes.
Enter your Mac user password and click OK.

LogMeIn installs a at boot kernel extension file into OS X itself to operate, it can only be uninstalled using their uninstaller.
If it has a problem uninstalling, install it again to return all files, then uninstall it.
If that doesn't work, you can hold Shift key upon booting and head to Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions  and find the LogMeIn kext file and move it to the Desktop. Then reboot to get out of Safe Mode.
If that doesn't work, then perform a #8 Reinstall Just OS X, Software Update fully and reinstall from original sources any other programs that fail to function correctly, however you might not be able to get 10.6 compatible copies of those programs again. Thus the manual method.

  • Remove Bookmarks from Location bar.Remains despite History only option

Need to clear '''present''' bookmarks (stars) from my location bar history , and not have them appear during browsing. If I suggest '''History'''. and then eliminate them by highlighting and '''DELETE,''' it solves the problem temporarily but then returns when I close, restart or turn off and start to browse again

If you want to remove all traces of a site, open up the history sidebar (use keyboards shortcut Control+H), locate the site in the history, right-click on it and select "Forget About This Site". That will delete all traces of that site from browsing history, cookies, bookmarks, passwords and site preferences.

    hi,
I am not sure whether we can completely hide these icons from the user.
But there is a workaround to disable these icons.
    CMC > Applications > Web Intelligence > Your Group > Assign Security > Advanced > Add/Remove Rights > Application > Web Intelligence
    Deny the following
    - Data Tracking: Enable for users
    - Data Tracking: Enable format display changes by users
    - Enable drill mode

  • Removing apps from multitask bar improves battery life!

I was loosing more than 5% per hor with the phone unused. I upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 and the battery life improved a bit, but no by much. Then I killed all the processes running in the background in the multitask bar and oila, my iPhone 4S has a much better battery life. It seems to drain ay 1-2% per hour now. Actually I just left my phone on all night, without charging, and in 10 hours it has only lost 3%. There can be a LOT of these backgrounded procs since they restart after a reboot of the phone and thus build up over time. I had about 30-40 when I 1rst checked. It doesn't seem stop the functioning if apps  like the timer. I tested the timer, i.e., I set it, killed the background proc on the multitask bar, and it still was counting down the original time set, thus I really don't know what deleteing the apps from the muultitask bar does, it doesn't seem to really kill the process, but deleting them really changes my battery ussage drasitaclly, for the better. If this is the problem it could account for the differences in users for each user will have a different set of background processes running. Anyway try it and see if it works. Mileage varies with ... blah blah.

Songs and apps stored in the iPhone have zero to insignificant effect on battery life.  The User Guide is here.

  • Remove Updater from menu bar

    Hi,
    Need help please.
    1. How do I remove the annoying Adobe Updater Icon in the menu bar on a Mac running Yosemite?
Nothing seems to get rid of it.
    2. Why do I have two of each application, eg. "Adobe Illustrator CC" and "Adobe illustrator CC 2014", "Adobe InDesign CC" and "Adobe InDesign CC 2014" - they all seem to appear in the updater too.
    - Can I delete one of them safely?
    Thanks

    Hi,
To remove any Adobe application, you can run the uninstaller for the same or you may use the CC cleaner tool:

  • How do I remove bookmarks from the bar?

I have too many bookmarks on the bar.  Some that Apple put and others that I added that I don't need now.

Easiest way is to Control Click (or 2 finger tap the track pad) and then select Delete from the pop up menu. You can also go to the Bookmarks menu and select Edit Bookmarks.
