Rename a group of photos.
Does anybody know a simple way to rename a batch of photos in 'Photos'? I want to rename 50+ photos with one name + sequential of numbers e.g. Garden 001.....Garden 053, but there doesn't seem to be a simple way. I used to do the change in Aperture, but the name change doesn't transfer now. It has to be simple.
I know this is more of a workaround than a solution but it works for me and is very simple. You can just export the photos (renaming them sequentially in the process) and then reimport them into Photos. In Photos select the photos you want renamed, go to File -> Export -> Export Photos. Under "File Name:" towards the bottom, choose sequential, then for "Sequential Prefix" put your "Garden " and when the photos are exported (to the folder you select after clicking Export) they will show up as Garden-001, Garden-002, etc.
Then you can import these photos back into the Photos App if you wish, and either save or delete the original files that you exported & renamed. Like I said it's a workaround but works fine for me. It sounds like a lengthy process but it's actually very simple and fast.
If someone has a better way to just rename the photos in the app without exporting them I'd love to hear it!

Select those you want to rename and use the Photos->Batch Change menu option. There you can select Title to text and put in what you want and have them sequentially numbered after the text.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. How do I rename one wrongly identified photo in Faces? I seem to only be able to merge two stacks of photos to the correct name, but that is not accurate. I only have one photo in a batch under a certain name, that is wrongly identified.
In iPhoto '11: Select the photo in the "Faces" stack, open the "Info" panel, click on the face name in the "faces" brick and then on the name below the face to edit the name.

Is the best (only) way to display a group of photos by creating a photo album? If so, I read that it's best to create a one w/Adobe Bridge rather than the web photo gallery feature under Commands in Dreamweaver.
Thoughts?Displaying photos is highly subjective. You can put all your images in a CSS styled proof sheet like this:

Or you can use jQuery or Lightbox plug-ins to create really slick slideshows & Galleries with all manner of bells & whistles. What it comes down to is a) which features you need and b) how much effort you want to put into it.

Obviously if you're a professional photographer you may need a sophisticated gallery with e-com solutions to sell prints on-line. If this is a hobby/personal site, you may need far less. So to say "this" or "that" product is best for everyone isn't realistic.

I'm new to Photoshop Elements and just getting started. While in the organizer I have one group of photos up to learn with and now it says Edit in Progress with a padlock icon. How can I remove this so that the photos will be restored to normal?
Go back to the editor and close the photo there.

How to remove a keyword from a group of photos
I want to remove a keyword from a group of photos. They all have the same keyword attached, of course. When I right-click keyword and choose 'Remove keyword from selected photos' it removes the keyword from the most-selected photo ONLY, not from all photos that are selected. I have to remove the keyword from each photo one at a time.
I'm running LR 5.6 on a Mac.

Have searched a few forums for answer to this as well as experimenting with various apps but cannot fulfill what i thought would be a simple requirement...
All i want to acheive is to see the combined file size (aka 'space taken up in MB or GB') of a group of photos / videos stored locally to my iPad. I have no acces to my home desktop or laptop with itunes on it as i am travelling the globe, so i'm looking for a solution that is done entirely on the iPad with either an app i have yet to discover or a work around using the iPads functions.
Would be great if when you created a photo album in the photo app it could display the size in mb of your collected images and videos, but alas this is not possible. My photos and vids have pretty much all been imported via the camera connection kit (so not taken usign the ipads camera).
Also i am not currently running iOS 6 so apologies if this functionality has been added in the update... I am lookign for an iOS 5 solution.
Prepared to face the fact that its simply not possible but since photoshack pro (which i tend to use in place of the slghtly cumbursome 'photos' file system) can show at least the size of individual files, seemingly not folders/albums though, that it must possible?

First, the good thing is everything is backed up since you can access it all via your PC or iPad. Please try removing the app from your device, restart phone, then re-download and try again. Let's see if this makes your current media available.

in Iphoto i dragged a group of photos into a folder on the desktop, they went in as thumbnails and i don't know how i did that. can anyone help me do that again
Don't you mean Photos or are you still using iPhoto with 10.10.3?
Normally one gets the preview version of a photo or the edited version if it's been edited when dragging from a thumbnail to the Desktop. Don't know how you would have gotten small thumbnail versions. -
Lightroom 3- How do I batch process a group of photos with the same preset?
Using Lightroom 3/Mac. Attempting to apply a preset to a group of photos. I read the forum already but what I read didn't make sense to me. Sorry. Also wondering if anyone else is plagued by Lightroom's tendency to take over the monitor. Whenever I want to switch to another application, I end up having to "Hide Lightroom" to get it to move. Any thoughts?

I made and iMovie out of a group of photos and added music. When I burned to I DVD the pictures came out to wide to fit into the frame. I tried again by changing the size from 16 9 to 4 3 and it didn't make any difference. Would going to share to browser rather than directly to share to IDVD make a difference?
What do the photos look like if you play the movie within iMovie? Sounds like adjusting Ken Burns would help.

How do you auto tone a group of photos. I tried command a to select all and then auto tone but it only did one Photo. I troes several times and yes all photos were selected
In Develop you can highlight a group of thumbnails in the filmstrip, then right-click and choose Develop Settings -> Auto Tone
In Library you can highlight a group of thumbnails in the Grid and click the Auto Tone button in the Quick Develop area.
What you can’t do is click the Auto button in Develop and have it do more than one photo—this is by design, except, maybe if you have Auto Sync enabled. -

Iif the photos were synced to the iPad they can only be removed by connecting to iTunes on your computer, unselecting the photos folder that you synced to the iPad and then follow that with a sync.
IF the photos are in the camera roll, open the camera roll album, tap the as select button in the upper right corner, tap on each photo that you want to delete in order to select them and then tap the trash can icon. -

Create an album, then search using a keyword. Select all the photos produced by the search and drag them into the album.
You can drag photos into any order in Albums and they remain in your chosen order.
