Rename cursor axis label for a XY Graph

Hello,
I am using Labview 8.2 and would like to relabel the axis of the cursor legend for a XY graph. Presently the cursor lengend contains X (for the X axis) and Y for the (Y axis). I would like to be able to rename the labels of the X and Y axis of the cursor lengend to give the user a more accurate description of the axis labels.
Regards,
Kaspar
Solved!
Go to Solution.

The changes that were made changed the names of the cursors, not the name of the X and Y axis. Think of it this way suppose that I have a X Y graph of Frequency (on the X axis) and Amplitude (on the Y axis). I create a cursor on the graph and move it around the waveform to examine the characterictics of the signal. When I move the cursor I would like the see the frequency and amplitude where the cursor is at on the signal. Right now the user has to remember (not to difficult) to figure out that the X axis is frequency and the Y axis is amplitude.
So I would like to be able to rename the header of the cursor location from X to Frequency and Y to Amplitude.
Regards,
Kaspar

  • X axis labels for custom group names

I have a report with one group.  That group has a customized group name field, and the group name is a formula.  When I display the group name in the data section of the report, it displays according to the formula.
I now need to chart two pieces of data - Primary # of Sales and Secondary # of Sales - for that group so I can compare the two # of sales.  If I make a chart for the Primary # of Sales, and go to the group tab in the Chart Expert and specify "on change of Group By Value (my grouping), show the sum of the Primary # of Sales", the chart displays as desired, and I see the custom group name (formula) as the X axis label.
But if I go to the Advanced Layout on the Data tab of the Chart expert and specify the Sum of Primary # of Sales AND Sum of Secondary # of Sales in the Show Values section, the X axis label no longer shows the custom group name; it shows the group value.
Any ideas for how to get it to show the custom group name when I chart two fields of data?
    Thanks in advance!

  • CR Enterprise - Custom y-axis labels for line chart

    Hi
I have data with a discrete status (STATUS-1...STATUS-5) per day, like
    Feb 1: STATUS-1
    Feb 2: STATUS-2
    Feb 3: STATUS-2
    Feb 4: STATUS-1
    Feb 30: STATUS-4
    Feb 31: STATUS-1
This series I'd like to render in a date axis line chart with the daily status ordinals (1-5) on the y-axis.
Now I wonder how I can label the y-axis ticks with the respective STATUS text instead of the ordinal.
Unfortunately, the option "Total (Y) Axis/Axis/AxisLabels/Display Label" is disabled due to the value's numeric nature.
How can I manually overwrite y-axis labels or map them to custom text?
    Thanks. Jens

    HI Jens,
Have you tried creating a formula and using that in 'Show Values' section of the chart?
    Formula:
    "STATUS-" & {Numeric_field}

  • How to set the 4th Y axis color for a line graph

    Hello experts,
I have developed a multiple y axis line graph using oracle reports 10g.
It has got 1 x axis and 4 axes. I am able to set the color of the the first three y axes
but the reports designer automatically assigns yellow color to the 4th axis.
I mean there is no option in the graph wizard for changing the 4th color)
How to change the color of this 4th y axis to a desired color?
    Cheers
    Sri

Assuming you mean that your graph has 4 series, not 4 Y axes, you might try something like this:
    1. Save a backup copy of your current report in case the changes you are about to make don't work out and you want to revert to the backup copy.
    2. Using the Property Inspector, display the current value of the Graph Settings property for your graph. The value of the property should be something like:
    <rw:graph id...
</rw:graph>3. Look for a <SeriesItems> tag and a matching </SeriesItems> tag in the property value. If you don't find them, add the following two lines immediately before the </Graph> tag.
    <SeriesItems>
</SeriesItems>4. Between the <SeriesItems> tag and the matching </SeriesItems> tag, add (or update) a <Series> tag for each series that you want to specify the color for. For example, to specify the color of the fourth series as red, you would use a <Series> tag like this:
<Series id="3" color="#ff0000"/>Note that the id numbers start at 0 for the first series, 1 for the second, and so on. The color value is a hexadecimal number specifying the RGB value of the color.
You can also use the <Series> tag to specify other features like the marker shape.
For more information on what you can do using the Graph Settings property, see this FAQ and Technical Note.
    Hope this helps.

  • X-axis labels for months when listing daily data

    Hi all,
Have a problem with the presentation of a chart that I need some assistance with, can anyone advise.
    OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1
I have a chart that is display data along the x-axis for a rolling year, however the selection is excluding weekends. On the date column I have a custom format of MMM-yyyy to produce the months and get 12 labels, however it will often skip one month and duplicate another. So for example I'm currently getting:
    Mar-2010, Mar-2010, May-2010, Jun-2010, etc.....
Mar-2010 is shown twice and Apr-2010 is missing.
I appreciatre this is because I'm missing off the weekends, it sometime coincides that a given month has far less days shown.
Can anyone suggest a soilution to get the 12 months listed as the actual 12months rather then some duplicates/missing?
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • Changing axis labels on Excel XY Graph

    Hello,
I'm trying to generate a report using the Report Generation Tollkit, i was following the steps indicated in the NI report tutorial that helped me a lot.
The problem is that i could not change the scaling of the X axis which is giving me always numbers from 1 to 11 then zeros after while these numbers need to be under date format (ex 10/04/2013), i'll appreciate the help if someone knows how to fix this.
    Thank you,

    Hi MGarry,
It seems that excel has a special way of representing the date/time format. See this: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/7AAFFD177BBB33CC86256E91000B1E32
So we know how it is represented in Excel, but the issue is telling excel that those numbers are meant to be interpreted as date/time format not regular decimal numbers. Have you managed to do this in excel manually? (without using the report generation toolkit). If so you might be able to make a skeleton of the graph and then update it using the following excel update graph VI (http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370274E-01/lvoffice/excel_update_graph/). You can also add row headers and column headers. I would check to see if its possible manually first and we can go from there.

  • Customize Axis Label for Time

    Hello
I have a chart with times (9:00,10:09,11:13,12:21 etc..)on the horizontal axis.
Is it possible to customize these axislabels and show only whole hours, 30 or 15 minutes depending on the scale? Like 9:00, 9:15, 9:30, 10:00 or 9:00, 10:00, 11:00 etc..

I would imagine if you create a dataProvider with the desired time increments it should display fine. There was a forum post recently about how to generate a range of date strings, like 9:00, 9:15, 9:30, etc. I would search for that and then see the Flex Builder help sys on charts, and more specifically setting axislabels.
If this post answers your question or helps, please mark it as such.

  • CR4E Chart Axis Label

I have a report developed with Crystal Reports XI Standard that includes a chart. The axis labels for the chart have been set (via Edit Axis Label) and appear correctly in preview mode of the Crystal Reports XI designer (e.g. "District" instead of "Sum of StateReportsView.District").
When this report is exported to a PDF file via a Java program (using Crystal Reports for Eclipse), the axis labels revert to their original values (e.g. appear as "Sum of StateReportsView.District").
Can the axis labels be set before exporting the report via the JRC API?
Or is there some way to save the axis labels to the report using the Crystal Reports XI designer?
    Thank you...

Thanks so much for following up on this. To clarify, converting month numbers to names is nice, and I did that using the specified order suggestion, but it doesn't effect the order of say, May, when Jan thru Apr are missing, and in fact created other issues of data misintrepatation I didn't bother resolving at the time.
I suppose the best solution would be something that supplies a placeholder for blank months, so that the Jan-Dec order remains constast and the data graph bars appear in appropriate months, Jan-Apr no bars, May-Dec with data generated bars.
    Does this help?

  • Axis labels with clusters of stacked columns

I've created a ColumnChart that contains clusters of stacked columns.  Each of the 6 clusters contains 3 stacked columns.
The ColumnChart creates the chart nicely (thanks to the dataFunction property), but the xAxis only displays the cluster label (so, "Cluster 1", or "Cluster 2", etc.).  That means the only way to tell which data set you're looking at, you have to mouse over the data to get the datatip to show up.
Using the labelFunction of the Category axis lets me output each of the dataset names along with the cluster set name, but I'm unable to center the dataset names below their respective datasets because the labelFunction just returns a single string for the cluster (as oppose to a string for each of the stacked columns within the cluster).
Is there a way to get an xAxis label for each of the stacked bars?  I've included the sample code below.  The labelFunction has been removed from this sample code because it wasn't working as I had hoped.

  • How do I rotate chart axis labels?

Trying to rotaet chart axis labels for the x-axis, but would like to know the same for the y-axis too. Know the solution for a text box, but doesn't seem to work for the axis labels.

    Hi Martin,
The solution is the same for X and Y labels. Select the labels and then set the rotation angle, either in the Format Bar or in the Metrics Inspector.

  • Line chart x-axis label overloaded with labels

    Hi,
I have a Line chart filled by a large resultset (hundreds of rows). Each row contains a decimal value and a timestamp. The interval between timestamps is short so it is impossible to plot every single date/time in the x-axis label because there is no space.
I would like to hide the the x-axis label for most rows and plot this label for each x rows. Something like this:
      18/12/2009 09:00            18/12/2009 10:00           18/12/2009 11:00            18/12/2009 12:00
            |---------------------------|---------------------------|---------------------------|
In the previous x-axis example there are many timestamps between 18/12/2009 09:00 and 18/12/2009 10:00 but they are not plotted in the chart. It is possible to do something like this in MII charts?

    Hi,
I think Michael is right about the Ticks per label parameter. Looks like it is not working for me because the chart data binding is not behaving as expected.
The chart rowset is composed by two fields: decimal and date time. The date time field is already converted to string. The rowset comes from a BLS transaction.
I think this forum has no support for file upload so I will add links to the xMII workbench screenshots so you guys can see my chart/query configuration.

When I run the chart I get this result: http://www.vetta-group.com:8080/imgs/chart1.PNG
As you can see the chart has no X-Axis labels ans I need to add the date/time to the X-axis. If I add the field to "X-Axis label columns" the field values are ploted but the parameter "Ticks per label" is ignored and hundreds of labels are ploted together and is impossible to read them. I think the "Ticks per label" parameter only works for fields added to Labels columns (in data mapping). The problem I am facing is: when I add the date field (http://www.vetta-group.com:8080/imgs/data_mapping2.PNG) to Label columns I get an empty chart like this: http://www.vetta-group.com:8080/imgs/chart2.PNG
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you

  • Category Axis Label Alignment

I want to know if we can modify or adjust the alignment of the Category Axis labels (for the x-axis).
My situation is as follows: I have a column chart on which I want my Category axis labels (for each column). I have put them in an angle to help reading them. They are currently "centered" wrt their respective columns. It makes it hard to associate the label to the appropriate column because the end of the label aligns with the center for the next column.
Can I either move the Category Axis Label text box? or change the alignment per se? In Excel for example, the text would be aligned such that the end of the text matches the center of its column.
    Thanks

No. This appears to be a design error in Numbers, and worthy of a Feature Enhancement request.
Go to the Numbers menu, choose Provide numbers Feedback, and request that this behaviour be changes to have the ends of the rotated category labels centered on the column they label. Then cross your fingers and hope for a change in a futre version.
