Rename custom list 2013 accessed by another custom list

When I am working with 2 custom lists in SharePoint 2013, listb refers to select columns in lista by using a lookup column in lista. I accidently changed the name of custom list #1. Due to that fact, I went into the list settings and selected the column
in listb that is used for the lookup column. I wanted to change the name of  lista to what I accidently changed it to.
Accessing the field this way, would not allow me to modify the name of lista.
Thus in the case listed above, can you tell me how to change the name of lista in the situation I described above.

I tested it my environment.
If I change master list (#1) after I setup look-up column following things happen.
Look-up functionality still working but hyperlink to main item is gone.
Form look-up column settings from transaction list (#2), we can't change look-up list anymore, previously it was a drop down
One I rename back to previous name, all get back to normal
This points that look-up column settings is coupled with external name (Even though list internal name & GUID remain same - it does impacted). In my suggestion, solution is simple.
Determine name  before look-up settings.

  • Error 503 after renaming SharePoint Foundation 2013 Server

    We renamed a SharePoint Foundation 2013 server using the procedure outlined here:

    Everything seemed to work fine until we tried to access the site afterwards. Now all we get when trying to access the site is the Error 503: Service is unavailable message. We can get into central administration without any problems.

    According to your description, my understanding is that you encountered 503 error after renaming SharePoint Foundation 2013 Server.
    For your issue, please refer to the actions as follow:
    1.Check the web site properties in IIS. Under home directory tab, check the application pool value and then open that application pool from the application pools (separate node in the IIS tree). Click the
    identity tab and see who is the pool assigned to. For the sake of testing, you can select "Predefined" and select local service from the drop down. Restart IIS and see if things work out for you. Http 503 error is generated by the IIS and it happens
    when web server sends data stream back to the web site.
    2.Verify that all SharePoint services are started, this error might occur because of changing the service account password. You may need to change the new password to application pool or SharePoint timer
    service. Click the stopped application pool -> click advanced settings ->Identity ->click the user to retype the user ->Application Pool Identity dialog ->click set -> manually type the user name and password. Then restart the server.
    If your issue persists, please provide detail error message of ULS log 
    to determine the exact cause of the error?
    For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at      
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS

  • Need to create a virtual server and give its access to another admin

    Dear Sir,
    I am a new admin and have 5 Blade server "HP ProLiant BL660c Gen8".
    I access these servers through HP enclosure.
    I have to install Hyper-V on server 1 which consisted of the OS windows server 2012 R2 Datacenter edition.
    I created a plan to create 5 Hyper-V VM's on the physical server and I requested the IT department network Admin that I want these 5 VM's to able to connect to each other.
    The network Admin created a Trunking configuration on the physical server and after this setup he provided me Hyper-v node IP address and 5 more IP addresses for the 5 Hyper-v VM's.
    Now it was left to me to Add the Hyper-v role and create 5 VM's.
    While Adding the Hyper-V role, I was asked in the middle of the setup to add the network adapter for
    connecting to external network.
    I went inside the network connection settings and I see one network adapter "Microsoft Multiplexer"
    which had the IP address of the Hyper-V node which was given  to be me by Network Admin.
    Besides this I found following Network Adapter: (Mgmt,Trunk):(Mgmt A, Trunk A);(Mgmt B, Trunk B) =Total
    6 Network Adapter out of which only "Mgmt" was configured with the IP address of the Hyper-v node given by my Network Admin. Remaining all other Network adapters IPV4 configuration
    was unchecked except "Mgmt" 
    So I selected the "Mgmt" connection while Installing the Hyper-v role
    SO I chose this Network connection for adding the Hyper-V role.
    My question: Did I chose the correct Network Adapter.
    After doing this I created a VM-1 and tried to assign the IP address given by the Network Admin. But the network Admin did not provide me the default gateway so I used the deafult gateway according to the IP address and used the last digit as "1"
    like a general installation.
    Now my question is: 1.How can I use this VM to be used as a Virtual server?
    2. I would like to open this VM through my browser by entering the IP address of this VM-1. How can I do this?
    Because I access my physical server through the IP address. SO in the similar way I want to access this VM-1 through the IP address
    OR is there any alternate way to access this VM-1 separately.
    My Requirement: I need to give VM-1 access to another admin to Install his application on it. SO how to give him to access this VM directly?
    This is my main query.

    Jawin, Jacob, etc.. are fine for creating COM clients but COM servers is a totally different story. I suspect you'll either have to write your own JNI or get out your C/C++ compiler.

    Your ITUNES account can be accessed from any device or computer that has itunes, as long as you have your username and password.  Using your itunes account from another device does not affect your ability to use the account from your device.

    You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
    Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future.   • I have a new printer which behaves OK except it will not print directly from a web site accessed via Firefox. We do not have this problem if accessed via another browser. Suggestions?

    New printer is Brother MFCJ615W. OS is XP. Computer is quite old Dell. Printer also refuses to print pictures from .jpg files - but the fact that I can print direct from web sites accessed via another browser suggests some of the problem is with Firefox. I asked this a few days ago and got an email reply giving me a link to click on - but this only produced an error message.

    I think I solved the wifi connection problem, just by switching off completely the router! sounds trivial, but in this case it worked!!!
    the funny behaviour of the trackpad/cursor still persists. any suggestion???

    we have currently, forefront TMG 2010, exchange server 2010 and lync 2010, running on our network and every working fine but recently i upgraded client MS Office 2010 to MS Office 2013 and suddenly forefront TMG 2010 started denying lync 2013 and outlook
    2013 access to the server.
    Please can somebody tell me how to resolve this problem.

    Do you mean that you have published exchange server 2010 and lync 2010 via TMG?
    How dou you judge that TMG  blocks your traffic?
    Please check if there is any error information via TMG live logging.
    You can try to delete publish rule and reconfigure it.

  • SharePoint 2013 access to custom lists a user creates

    In an InfoPath custom list form 2013, I have setup a group of test users with 'view' access to my test SharePoint website. These users are able to enter data in a custom list.
    When the user looks at the data that they originally entered by accessing the data from the sharepoint website, the InfoPath Form looks like the form is read only. However if the user clicks the auto generated edit buttons on the top of the form, they are
    able to change the data in the list.
    Basically I would like a way for the user to not be able to change the original data in the custom list.
    Is there a way that I can accomplish this goal like:
    1. disable the autogenerated buttons,
    2. have all the textboxes set as read only,
    3. change some kind of an access level?
     Would you let me know what method works and how to accomplish my goal?

    In InfoPath Designer go to File, Info, Form Options.
    In the Web Browser category uncheck Show InfoPath Commands in Ribbon or Toolbar.

    Hi, I can suppose that the main problem for Joao is not if it works in general or not.
    The real problem is that he is not sure if this configuration is officially supported by Microsoft.
    If you are developing an integration project for a client you need to have this guarantee. If not, you can have an unsupported scenario, and if something fails you could have a big problem with your client.
    If I were you, I would talk with the client account manager about this.

    I have some pics with custom metadata field "gadget brand", i with to rename the field name to "brand", how can i do that? I tried to rename in the custom metadata manager, but it doesn't apply the change.

    Don't believe you it will allow you to rename it.
    You're going to have to create a new field with the name you want and copy the data over. Unfortunately Aperture doesn't have any built in means of copying metadata from one field to another. Applescript however could do it fairly easily.

    Our problem is that we don't find a way to rename our custom objects that we show in our JTree. We have defined a complete Tree data structure which works fine already ... now we want to be able to rename the nodes in the Tree.
    Our JTree displays concrete instances of our self defined interface INode which has a toString method to display in the Tree. Adding and removing INodes dynamically to the tree works fine already, now we are looking for a way to rename those nodes. Those changes should be noticed finally in the 'name' field of each INode. (INode.setName, INode.getName are present).
    We read from javadoc that a DefaultTreeCellEditor along with an according DefaultTreeCellRenderer are the starting point, but we can't get these 2 integrated to perform correctly. Now the question. Does anyone have an example or an idea of how to write such a CustomTreeCellEditor ??? It is especially important that a possibly provided solution DOES NOT depend on the use of DefaultTreeModel or DefaultMutableTreeNode. Since we use our own Tree Data Structure to be presented in the JTree, we don't have access to possible gimmicks one can expect from the DefaultXXX implementations ...

    Have you tried editing the screen directly?  The enhancement uses screen 1180 of program SAPLCOIH.  This includes an element CUSTSCR1 for your custom screen area, which appears to be screen 0900 in SAPLXWOC.  Somewhere in one of these two screens you should be able to edit the tab name through screen painter (transaction SE51).  I hope this helps.

    To rename a custom data you must have all files with instances of that type open when you make the change, otherwise they will be considered to have a different type with the old name when they are next opened. Do you mean the UUT process model data type? I would recommend against changing that since you will make your custom version of the process model less compatible with the default version, especially since the end user/operator does not necessarily ever have to see the type name, so it's probably not worth the hassle in that case.

    I add container (JSPTableContainer) to JSPTabContainer and now cannot change the title of this tab; in the "Tabs" link inside the portal there are no actions "Rename" or "Delete" for my tab. Changing the property "Title" of my container also has no effect...

    I remember first time it took me a while
    to get this "intuitive" logic strait:
    GoTo:
    Desktop Service->Channel and Container Management->
    JSPTabContainer->(Edit)->TabProperties
    Now add a new collection with the name of your tab,
    and in your new collection add:
    title/desc/removable/renamable/predefined
    save and refresh - Your tab is renamed!
