Rename masters from offline account

Hi,
I have a bunch of masters that are located on my HDD.
Their name is something like
/mac/Users/UserName/Pictures/Aperture Pictures/IMGXXXX.CR2
Aperture thinks, however, that these pictures are located in
/Macintosh HD/Users/UserName/Pictures/Aperture Pictures/IMGXXXX.CR2
The volume "Macintosh HD", on the other hand, does not exist. During my last reinstall, I replaced the volume name "Macintosh HD" with "mac". Now Aperture constantly thinks that my images are located in an "offline" volume.
How do I tell aperture that all the pictures that have a path that begins with "/Macintosh HD" should have a path that begins with "/mac" ?

Easiest thing to do is rename the volume - this is a piece of cake.

System offline - coincided with removing TV package from my account

On 7/17 I removed the TV package from my account, as you may have guessed from the post title. It took a few days, but I noticed that the home monitoring and control was no longer sending notifications. When I tried to log into the app, it told me "you do not have home monitoring and control" - same with the web portal designed to manage this service.
My first call to tech support went something like this:
"Are you sure that no one accidentally turned this off on my 7/17 call?"
"There is absolutely no way that could have happened."
Voice mail from Verizon, later:
"Someone accidentally turned this off. It should work now."
My next call, after the system still did not work, resulted in the agent asking me to do a reset of the gateway device, and to wait 30 minutes - call back if it's not working. Guess what, that didn't work - nice that the agent got off the call so quickly.
After several additional calls, it is not working. I now have an open and "escalated" support ticket, essentially useless equipment, and no faith whether the service is actually enabled in all the right places on Verizon's side.

Well, good luck, you will need it. When something like that happens they normally have to rebuild your whole account. And since they don't sell HM&C anymore, they may not beable to setup a new account with that option. :-(
My suggestion is to ride the hard. Call several times a day if you have to and get a superviser's name, deal only with that person and demand a daily update. Here's the direct number in case you don't already have it: 866-785-8153

How to move items from one account to other account - posting program

I have FI documents that are posted on clearing account and on other side to costs. But now I need to move open items from clearing account to new clearing account(s) - something like "rename account". Is there any standard program or do you have any idea for programing a customer program?

How to remove old iPod from my account

I purchased a new iPod Touch and have it up and running.. I want to give my iPod classic to my grand daughter. I have restored it and renamed it, but I want to remove it from my account but it seems there is no option in editing my account to remove a machine from it. How can she register it to a new account when she gets it or use it when she goes to the iTunes store if it is registered in my account?

When the iPod is connected to her computer, change the computer it's associated with. Reregistering it with Apple can be done by clicking here and following the instructions, but isn't needed.

Relocating Masters from one ext. drive to another...

I am seeking some advice to Aperture (latest version):
So far the folder of my Master-files has been relocated to an external hard disk, Consequently, in the event of reediting my pictures, I shall have to connect the said hard disk, when/if I would like to get hold of the Masters. Lately I faced a problem with the said external harddisk, and thought that my pictures (MASTERS) were in a process of disappearing. Luckily it appeared that the failure was related to a defect power supply only. BUT, I don't dare going on with this hard drive any longer, being by the way rather old, and immediately I bought a new 1 TB Lacie disk to which I intend to "copy" my Masters. I have by now tried out various ways of moving those Masters from the defect external drive to the NEW external drive, thus pulling the respective folder with the Masters to it's new place - however, hopefully, WITHOUT losing the same folder/files on the partly defect external harddisk. I have already tried "migrations" and a lot of other" tricks" - also pointing with the cursor to the NEW drive - but in vain. To be even more precise: Aperture seems not to be able to find it's way (to "see") the Masters on the new external hard disk - but they ARE there.....I can see them on the new drive. Could a cloning from the defect ext. drive to the new ext. drive be a way of procedure? Or are there more "normal" ways to bring in practise.
Indeed I would be most grateful for any advice that may lead to a succesful detecting of the said masters in their new position, i.e. the new external harddrive. Thanks!

No problem at all
Normally I'd tell you to plug in the old hard drive that contains the masters (so they come back online) and then use the Relocate Masters command we talked about. This will work.
But: I'm a little worried about doing that with a flaky drive. The reason being that when you Relocate masters they are physically moved from one location to another - not copied. So if your source drive should fail midstream it could potentially lead to problems.
If you have a backup of those files elsewhere then go ahead, it's the simplest solution. Otherwise what I'd do is go to the Finder and copy the files to the new drive (just drag your folder from the old to the new). Then, once it's finished copying eject the old faulty drive: in Aperture all your files will now be offline. At that point use the Locate referenced masters command, point Aperture to a missing file in the new location and click Reconnect All.
Aperture will relink everything to the new drive and you should be on your way.

Offline Account Showing as Online

On the left is my laptop, signed in with one account. On my desktop I'm signed in with another. The highlighted area shows the third account I own (which is entirely offline on all devices).
The offline account has been "signing in" at random times and showing as online even though there is no possiblity that it is. Attempting to message myself causes the account to go offline again.
WTF.

Open a chat and type /showplaces to see were are you login.
After that in order to sign out from that devices (if you are) type /remotelogout

Kind of a bot sending ad messages from my account

Yeah, so there's a kind of bot on my computer sending random messages. It simply sends stuff from my account to other people. Try to reset all Skype settings. Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. If you are on the latest Skype 6.5/6.6/6.7/6.9/6.10/6.11/6.13 version, then do also this: Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %temp%\skype and then press Enter or click the OK button. Delete the DbTemp folder.

How to stop receiving from a mail account but still send from that account

I was wondering if anyone knew how set up a mail account that will send but not recieve. Basically, I would like it to stop going to the server and grabbing emails from this account, but I want to be able to send emails from this account. Is this possible??

Welcome to the Discussions.
Very possible and very easy to configure. First, in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced deselect to include when automatically checking for new messages. Second, click on Mailbox in the menubar, choose Online Status, and click to take this account Offline. An account that is Offline can still be used to Send.
These two steps, together, will accomplish what you need.

Can you recover mail from deleted account?

Using Mail 2.0.5, I kept getting a message that port 25 was blocked, and couldn't receive mail from that account. I didn't think to check .mac for solution, but created a new mail account under a different name, with the same settings. When it worked, I deleted the original account...but didn't realize I'd lose all the mail associated with it in my mail program. Thought it would be stored someplace, but I can't find it anywhere. Is there any way to recover mail from a deleted Mail account?

Never did find a solution to this. However because we are using IMAP accounts most of the mail was cached on the client Macs. So I offlined them, loaded Mail, copied all the mail into local mailboxes, recreated the users, went online and copied the mail back into the new hierarchy.
Still can't believe I did such a daft thing!

I thought it was the SMTP server first.. but when i config my WIFI, suddenly the emails that i tried to send, left my outbox and sent.

The SMTP server you are using with Wi-Fi would be the outgoing server of your internet service provider... this is likely why that's working.
SMTP servers specific to a ISP would not work on the 3G network. You would probably need another SMTP server. One from your cell provider?

How can i transfer my music from one account to another on a different computer?

So i have an itunes account on dell laptop and i share that account with other famliy members. I recently bought a mac pro and wanted to create a new account that way i can use icloud, is there any possible way to transfer everything from my old library to my new one or will i lose everything i had on my phone and ipods? Or is it possible to have one account but multiple icloud accounts?

Just get copies of the song files and add them to your iTunes library. With the exception of any DRM-protected files (purchased before mid-2009 and never upgraded) they will play fine, even though they are technically associated with the original account.
