Rename quantity of photos at once

I know I can rename a group of photos once in iPhoto, but it really doesn't recognize my names if already imported to the library. It always uses the original name even if the name looks to be changed.
I want to rename them before I import to iPhoto.
Ex: I bring a group of jpeg's to a folder on the desktop and would like to change them all to:
ex: Disney001 .. 002 .. 003 etc.
Once done then input to the iPhoto library.
Is there a way (software) to do such?

Hello, Jennifer,
Sorry, but my post got into trouble and I lost all but the first part of the reply!
Also, per my answer to your first question, iPhotoDiet is not yet upgraded for iPhoto6, but will be soon.
Here is the rest of my post, for your other questions:
#2rename photos to a new batch name--Start with this thread and be sure to follow lori's links regarding tampering with iPhoto library: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=951549&#951549
Then see this: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1383606&#1383606
And this: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=952122&#952122
#3make sure the photos i'm missing from before could be found --What do you mean by 'missing?' There could be many types of 'missing.' Are you missing entire rolls, parts of a roll, or just a few photos? Do you have only thumbnails? Did you rename or move any of your photos in your iPhoto Library folder? If so, iPhoto will not be able to find the photos. iPhoto looks for them to be in your 'Pictures' folder. And, what do you mean by 'before?' Before what?
Do a search for 'missing photos' and see if any of the threads/responses/suggestions apply to your situation.
If not, post back with specific information about what is missing and what you had done before the photos were missed and what you have tried to correct that. The more specific you can be, the easier it will be for us to assist you.
Hope this is helpful!

  • Is it possible to undo the Ken Burns effect on all photos at once in iMovie, rather than clicking "crop" and "fit" on each individual photo?

Is it possible to undo the Ken Burns effect on all photos at once in iMovie, rather than clicking "crop" and "fit" on each individual photo?

Hey Villiam,  Kevin is referring to setting a movement on a photo setting keyframes (like zoom out to in), right-clicking on Motion, and choose save as preset.  This will put that movement into your presets folder under Effects.  I am going to try this on my next montage and see if I can find some efficiencies.  Thanks Kevin, that was a great tip!!!
Also thanks to Jim.  I spent like 30 min looking at all the keyboard shortcuts.  It's a little overwhelming to establish a solid shortcut format that a team of editors can learn and use.  I'm going to be trying the FCP short cuts, then go back to the default.  It looks like the PR default has a lot of existing and helpful shortcuts assigned already.  It's just going to take getting used to a new platform.
I'm still looking for tools and/or methods to allow an editor to assemble a 60 second montage with 10 photos, VO and music in 30 minutes.  It's going to be a challenge but I think it's possible with the right innovative process.  I'll still challenge anyone to find a way to quickly assemble a montage in an assembly line or template-based fashion using Adobe Premiere CC where there's on-screen text, advanced transitions, timed to VO, etc.
I think I'm dreaming for a tool to automatically do this within Premiere, while I think the answer for now might just be customizing motion presets and creating a favorites folder of transitions that can be dragged onto each clip.  I'll see if there’s a way to apply a set of transitions or motion presets to a series of photos on the timeline opposed to doing it one by one.  I can see this solution being important as video montages are becoming more popular in our industry, and the faster we can make them using a professional software package like Premiere the more prosperous we will be.

  • How to delete ALL PHOTOS AT ONCE ?

So, how to delete all photos from iphone 5 with one touch ? Its frustrating to delete pic by pic when you got over 2000 pictures ! And its not enough to go to "moments" and day by day deleting those pics...
My old Nokia 2110 has that luxury feature "select all" and then "delete selected". This is ridiculous from 1000€ device... Not to mention I have new iMac also and I still not can delete all photos at once.
    Help please !

If iCloud Photo Library is enabled:
There is currently no way to delete all photos at once.
If iCloud Photo Library is disabled:
Plug your device into a computer and open your photo import application and it'll allow you to remove all photos.

  • Mass rename of every photo and sequential numbering of every future download

Is it possible to have iphoto 9.6 mass rename every single photo I have sequentially so there are no duplicate file names and then pull in every new photo no matter the source with sequential file names so there is never a duplicate?

    no
iPhoto makes no changes of any sort when it imports - you can rename the files when you export but not when miporting or while photos are in iPhoto
for export options see Exporting From iPhoto

  • How do I delete all my photos at once?

I transferred all my photos to my computer so I need them off my phone. How do I delete all my photos at once? Help!

One of two ways, install Files; http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/files/762e837f-461d-4847-8399-3526f54fc25e navigate to Pictures and delete the photos as needed or reconnect your phone to your computer and delete the photos from there.
If you're synching to One Drive you might get them back.

  • Quantity of photos per left panel and actual quantity don't agree

In the Library left panel under Folders, the number to the right of my folders does not agree with the actual quantity of photos in that folder. The left panel number is always more than the actual quantity. This is not true of all my folders and sub-folders but is for many. Does anyone have an idea what is going on? Thanks.
    Mark

    Hal,
I may not have explained my problem clearly enough so just to make sure we're on the same page, let me try again. In one folder, the number is the left panel states that there are 331 images. Yet in fact, there are only 329 images in that folder. I know this two ways. First, the index number only goes to 329. Second, I actually counted the number of images.
So please tell me again, what exactly would you like to see a screen shot of? I can show the left panel and the last image with the index number of 329. Is that what you are referring to?
    Thanks.
    Mark

  • HT201317 Is there any way to get a photo back once it has been deleted?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
That depends on whether you have it backed up somewhere.

  • Can you edit multiple photos at once like in Lr

I have a prodject that i'm working on and i need to edit several images at once (preferabley) so that they are the same color. They are wooden cupboards and i need all the wood looking the same colour. In light room you can edit a group of images at the same time hence the colours are the same . Is this possible in Elements ? If so how do i do this ?

The Process Multiple Files command applies settings to a folder of files. If you have a digital camera or a scanner with a document feeder, you can also import and process multiple images. (Your scanner or digital camera may need an acquire plug‑in module that supports these actions.)
When processing files, you can leave all the files open, close and save the changes to the original files, or save modified versions of the files to a new location (leaving the originals unchanged). If you are saving the processed files to a new location, you may want to create a new folder for the processed files before starting the batch.
Note: The Process Multiple Files command does not work on multiple page files.
Choose File > Process Multiple Files.
Choose the files to process from the Process Files From pop‑up menu:
Folder Processes files in a folder you specify. Click Browse to locate and select the folder.
Import Processes images from a digital camera or scanner.
Opened Files Processes all open files.
Select Include All Subfolders if you want to process files in subdirectories of the specified folder.
For Destination, click Browse and select a folder location for the processed files.
If you chose Folder as the destination, specify a file-naming convention and select file compatibility options for the processed files:
For Rename Files, select elements from the pop‑up menus or enter text into the fields to be combined into the default names for all files. The fields let you change the order and formatting of the components of the filename. You must include at least one field that is unique for every file (for example, filename, serial number, or serial letter) to prevent files from overwriting each other. Starting Serial Number specifies the starting number for any serial number fields. If you select Serial Letter from the pop-up menu, serial letter fields always start with the letter “A” for the first file.
For Compatibility, choose Windows, Mac OS, and UNIX® to make filenames compatible with the Windows, Mac OS, and UNIX operating systems.
Under Image Size, select Resize Images if you want each processed file resized to a uniform size. Then type in a width and height for the photos, and choose an option from the Resolution menu. Select Constrain Proportions to keep the width and height proportional.
To apply an automatic adjustment to the images, select an option from the Quick Fix panel.
To attach a label to the images, choose an option from the Labels menu, then customize the text, text position, font, size, opacity, and color. (To change the text color, click the color swatch and choose a new color from the Color Picker.)Note: The Watermark option enables you to add a permanent visual watermark to images. For more information, see this article.
Select Log Errors That Result From Processing Files to record each error in a file without stopping the process. If errors are logged to a file, a message appears after processing. To review the error file, open with a text editor after the Batch command has run.
Click OK to process and save the files.

  • How do I rename events in Photos?

Once I upload photos to my device on the iPad 2 with the camera connection kit, it gives me events with names like 2012-01-06 . I would like to know a simple way to change the name of the event from the iPad, because I don't have a computer I could sync it to.
    Thanks!

You can't rename them on the iPad, you can only chose the names of events for photos prior to syncing them from a computer.

  • Can't rename already published photos

I alreayd published to HDD a series of five images. I then rename the images, and mark the images to republish. But when they're published again, the old names are there. So, I change the publishing service to a custom name, mark the images to republish again, and try once more. Still, the old names are there.

    This is what I do:
Have a collection of photos that are to be renamed.
Make sure your publish collections exclude any photo in said collection.
Before you rename your photos, drag them into said collection.
Publish (delete photos / remove from service)
    Rename photos
Remove them from the rename collection.
    Re-publish with the new names.
    Makes sense?

  • Is there a way I can delete lots of photos at once on iPhone 4?

I need to delete lots os photos from my iPhone 4 and I would like to know if I can select a big number of photos and delete them at once instead of having to delete one by one.  Is there a way to do that?

If you have a Mac you can delete them with Preview.  To do this, connect your phone, launch Preview, go to File>Import from iPhone..., then select the photos you want to delete and press the Delete key.

  • Photo management, once and for all...help!

This will be an eye-roller for some of you, but my thousands of photos have become a jungle and I don't understand how to manage them.
    -iPhoto
    -photo stream
    -camera uploads
Where is "ground zero" for all of my photos - is there one? -  and how can I wrangle them all into one place for easy management? I delete a photo from one place, only to find it again in some other place (or two).
Also, if I delete photos from iPhoto on my MacBook Air (I'm out of disk space...again....), does it automatically delete them from iPhoto on my iMac too?
I think I literally need someone to draw me a picture of how photo storage works on Mac products.
    Thank you.....
    C

iPhoto is a database program that keeps everything in a database - by default the iPhoto library in your pictures folder on your hard drive
Assuming you have a default managed library then it has no connection of any sort to anything outside of your Mac - not the cloud - not any other Mac - nothing
Once photos are imported into the iphoto database (viewed in an event or in Photos view) nothing else affects them
Nothing you do "automatically" deletes photos form iphoto events
MyPhotoStream is not a place to store photos but a stream to move photos between devices - they can be automatically imported into iPhoto (see the iPhoto preferences ==> iCloud) to become part of your library - if they are not then they are transient and only available for 30 days max
By default camera uploads go into the iphoto library that you upload them into
If you have specific questions please post them
