Rename Track Titles from Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, ... to 1a, 1b, 1b

I have an audiobooks album let say 7 Disc.
I want to rename the track titles (ID3) track names from Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, to 1a, 1b, 1c,...., Disc 2->2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, ..., Disc 3->3a, 3b, 3c, 3d...
I am not interested in using Get Info to manually change the Track name. Is there some type of Itunes Add on for Itunes Windows or some alternative program to rename the Track names.
I found program call reNamer and Magic File Renamer 6.12. They rename the file name not the track name.

I forgot I had this tool -- it's something I wrote before I made the audiobook helper I already linked to you in my last message.
This program reads the track number and disc number from the ID3 tag and renames the track name exactly as you want (1a, 1b, 1c ... 2a, 2b, 2c... etc.).
So, select the tracks in iTunes you want to rename, then run the EXE. I've included the perl source code in the zip. If you have perl installed you can run it directly; otherwise view it in a text editor.
I'm hosting this on my "old" google site because I've run out of space on my normal homepage:

  • Tracking Shipments from China and Honk Kong

Hi all, There are several websites posted on older discussions related to how to track orders from China or Hong Kong. I have compiled a list for everyone's convenience and some instructions. Some websites are specific in checking only tracking numbers that have both letters and numbers (eg. beginning with R, C, L, E, etc., another letter, 9 digits, & ending with 2 letters like CN or HK) and other websites assist in tracking items that only have numerical tracking numbers (along with those that have letters & numbers). Before I start, a few things to mention in case someone is unaware.  In the Purchase History of the item bought, on the right side you will see a big blue box that states "Leave Feedback" (it might say return item OR View Order Details as well; it depends and I'm not sure why it is different for different items).Underneath it states "View Order Details" (it might also say leave feedback, return item, or contact seller; again it depends).Underneath that is "More Action" with a scroll down arrow and after clicking, other options appear. If "View Order Details" is not found in the above two places mentioned, this is where you will find it.Order Details will mention what you bought, item number, cost, quantity, shipping services, and a picture. On the top right, expand / click on "+ Show Shipping Details". Below is an example of what you might see.Note: Shipping info received is usually checked for most orders. The exact location is where the tracking number comes into play and the various websites I provided in this post.Delivery package 1 of 1Estimated delivery Varied                                                      - Hide shipping details √ Shipping Info ReceivedIn TransitDeliveredLast Scanned Date: NAShipping status: Shipping info received Package location:Shipping Carrier: China Post, EMS, FedEX, etc.Tracking #: 12345678900Delivery Message: NA I believe the above feature to check shipping info is no longer available after 60 days.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  1) https://www.17track.net/en/  This site is used for tracking numbers with:a) alphanumerical tracking numbers ANDb) only numberical tracking numbers. On the top in the middle you will see a big blue box that says "Click here to track worldwide postal carrier shipment" --> click on this.A pop-up window opens that states, "Enter up to 40 numbers, one per line".  Above this statement you will see Type / Origin / Destination set as Auto for all three.Click any of the three to change the parameters. For Origin: Write China or Hong Kong as applicable. For Destination: Your country where it is being shipped. For Type: There are three options - Registered, EMS, and Parcel. Choose Parcel unless you know it was sent by EMS or if your seller stated item was sent by registered mail or you paid for registered mail. If in doubt choose Parcel first and if that doesn't work try the other two options.I have used various kinds of tracking numbers and "Parcel" is applicable for all of them even if it is registered mail. This way you only have to input the same parameter for all tracking numbers instead of doing each one individually.  Remember: Look at "View Order Details" to determine tracking number and service used.Once parameters are changed as needed click "Track" - RED BOX bottom right corner with a magnifying glass. What I find useful about this site is after clicking "track" it will give you a quick snapshot of its progress, when it left China (or other origin country - this site is used to track parcels from any country that provides tracking services), and near the end it provides two links: a link to the website for the origin postal service (the link from China's end doesn't work )AND destination country postal service to track the parcel at your local postal service to see more details of where it is in your residential country. What is even better is you can enter up to 40 tracking #s and a table appears that will summarize  all your shipping status and you can expand each for more details. If say all your products are from China except a few, then still input Origin as China to apply for all and then individually change locations (this way is faster than inputing Origin & destination for each item individually... takes long). Choose "Parcel" irrespective of if mail was registered or regular.2) http://track-chinapost.com/ It works for many different courier services: China Post, EMS, ebay ePacket, HongKong Post, SwissPosrt, TNT, DHL, UPS, FedEx.Details are all on website on how the tracking numbers would look like for each of the above service.Works for: alphanumerical tracking numbers.Note: If your tracking number is only 11 digits all numerical, it doesn't work on this site. I have tried several ones I have and none have worked, but they worked on sites 1) and 4).3) http://www.chinapostaltracking.com/This is another site that works for tracking #s beginning with R, C, E, or L, and ends with two letters such as CN or HK.I tried it and worked for me with information on whether item was received at post office, shipped, dates, and location.4) http://www.shpostwish.com/On the top right corner choose English so you can now read it. Otherwise it is in Chinese. This is used for tracking numbers that are only numerical & those that meet conditions below.I find this site has been malfunctioning recently. After entering your tracking # and hitting "Search" no results show. There is this forever moving circle to indicate it is processing but nothing happens. This is what the website states in terms of entering tracking #:Please enter a Wish Post exclusive waybill number:Registered mail please start with RQ99, a total of 13 bit WISH mail order.Non registered mail please start with 019, a total of 11 bit WISH mail order. This system can inquire up to 20 WISH Package tracking number at the same time, please put one tracking number per line.I got this site from the Ebay email that states that the seller has marked item as shipped, but this site hasn't been working so site #1 can be used for numerical tracking numbers.5) https://www.trackingexpress.com/I'm just mentioning this site in case it works for someone. It tracks EMS and China Post Methods of Shipping Only.EMS (China Post EMS) - Starts with E, another letter, 9 digits, and ends with CN (eg. EA123456789CN). China Post (China Post Registered Mail) - Starts with R, another letter, 9 digits, and ends with CN (eg. RR123456789CN).I  find that the China Post Tracking section isn't working for me - the verification code does NOT show so I can't finish the process of tracking. It can't track numerical tracking numbers.Someone let me know if this website has worked for you in tracking your parcels that do have a tracking number with an "E" or "R" and ending in "CN" or maybe even "HK".6) http://www.ems.com.cn/english.htmlI find this website probably works for tracking numbers starting with E as it is dedicated for EMS shipping method.I have tried using #s starting with "R", but nothing is found. Just an empty table.Numerical tracking numbers don't work either.Anyone with a difference experience, don't hesitate to share. I have checked other sites using my numerical and alphanumerical tracking numbers. Some don't respond, are frozen, or just plan don't work - gives me an error message or info not found. The above I feel are good sites, but I think the first 3 are the best. Anyone with more websites and/or different experiences using the sites mentioned above, please do share. I personally checked all websites above to see how well they work and any issues I was having if any. Another thing to note is that all my packages have come from China, so for Hong Kong tracking I think the same sites can be used that follow the formula of starting with the letter R, another letter, 9 digits, and ending with two letters (HK in the case of Hong Kong), so that would be the first 3 sites for sure. Other sites are malfunctioning for me so I can't say and in any case the first 3 sites should serve sufficient that you won't have to go to any other sites to track.  Sorry for the long essay, but I hope people find it beneficial. Have a great day and thanks for reading.

  • When I rip a CD to iTunes. All goes well until I click on All Albums. If there are other artists named with the Title Artist they are shown as different albums so I end up with 16 albums containing 1 track instead of 1 Album with 16 tracks. Can I fix this

When I rip a CD to iTunes all goes well until I click on All Albums. If there are other artists named as well as the Title Artist, I end up with what appears as 16
Albums with 1 track instead of 1 Album with 16 tracks. Can I fix this ?

Had a similar problem with two tracks from a cd being segregated in a separate list, but with the same album title and artwork as the other 19 tracks. I found that by double clicking the artist field next to the album icon you can then edit that info.  In your case it sounds as if you might want to erase the artist info altogether. Once you have done that, all the tracks magically group together, as they should have done in the first place. Oh there might be a dialog box first, asking if you really want to do this.
    Hope this helps.

  • Music album cover images and track titles show on iPhone 4s but music doesn't play - any ideas?

I am a Young at Heart Senior, new to iPhone 4s, have an old creaking pc with Windows XP Home.....but plan to enter the real world any day soon by buying a new Mac!
Here is my problem, I purchased an album on iTunes and mistakenly started to sync it to my phone, (although I don't have iCloud loaded on my pc). I stopped it mid download and later noticed that the total track numbers were showing as a red number above the "more" button as if they were waiting to complete the download. It stayed there while I thought about it for a few days, but when I click the Album button all the tracks are listed.
Now to the funny part.....when I click on a track or indeed any of them, it doesn't play a sound...but the progress bar above moves as if "now playing".
So, I thought.... no problem, I would connect the phone up to iTunes and delete the tracks....but when I do so, this album and none of it's track titles show in my music list for the phone......weird.
So, I have a large album with titles only on my phone, no music behind the titles (which, incidentally, is rubbish anyway) and I can't get rid of it off my phone, any of you young whizzy iPhoners have any ideas how to clear it off???
I did think I might just Restore my phone, but wondered whether downloading all my stuff from iCloud would still include the dreaded  "Now That's What I Call Christmas" album, which I only purchased in late 2011 to play at a seniors Xmas party...........you live and learn!
You will guess from my ramblings that I am not at all techy, but consider myself willing to learn and apart from this hiccup........I luuuurve my iPhone!

If you have all your music on the cmputer then i would connect up my phone uncheck the Sync Music option and apply.
This should take all the music off your phone .Then you can resync the music back on to it.
If this doesn't work maybe a restore to factory settings and start from scratch is the way to go

  • Can I change track titles?

A friend gave me an iPod as a gift and it was loaded with a bunch of songs from our high school grad year. Some of the songs he purchased from iTunes and when I tried to sync it on my computer it would never let me without erasing the iPod because of those purchased songs. I tried, several times, to add my computer (or whatever it was) like I was prompted but that never worked. So my friend burned the playlist onto an audio CD for me (actually it took 4 cd's) so I could just import them into iTunes. Well, that worked, but the title of all the songs turned into track 1, track 2, etc. for each disk. So now, when I sync them over to the iPod I won't have any idea which song is about to play. Is there a way to edit the track titles?

Because iTunes songs cannot be transferred to another person. The song has the account info of whoever purchased it, embedded into the song file.

  • I have a printing cd cover problem the track titles overprint and I can't read the track titles, what can I do please

I have a problem when printing cd covers, which has only just started happening, the track titles overprint so I can't resd them correctly, what can I do to fix this please.

When I try and open my original catalog, I get the following error:
Lightroom encountered an error when reading from the preview cache and needs to quit.
Lightroom will attempt to fix this error the next time it launches.
But, when Lightroom opens, the error shows again and the program crashes. I created another catalog that does open, but occasionally the same error occurs and the program crashes.  This is happening many times per day.

  • Modified Track Titles Revert back to Original Titles

    Purchase Track in iTunes
Modify the title to something else
    Observed Bug:
Modified Track Titles revert back to the original Title after time. Playing the track or requesting track info will reset back to the modified title. but eventually the title will revert again to the original title that it was in the iTunes Store.
I do not have iTunes Match on, this only happens to Tracks purchased in iTunes.
Anybody have any suggestions to avoid this Apple BUG?

People in other threads have speculated that any kind of communications with Apple's servers can be at fault, including the Cloud, Genius, automatic downloads, sharing info with Apple, and even making store purchases.
It might very well be a combination of any of these (like maybe it could happen if you make a purchase but only if you have automatic downloads on). I don't know.
I have not experienced the problem since I turned the Cloud option off. Here are my current settings:
Show Cloud purchases: off (turned off when I started having play count and metadata issues)
Genius: off (never liked it, and it caused long sync times)
Automatic downloads: off (just annoyed me; I want control of what to sync where and when)
Share info with Apple: on (never thought about this option, so I left it alone)
And I have made quite a few purchases from the store with these settings and no ill effects.

  • Track Titles on Burnt CD's??

I have been burning CD's for a period of time. Many of them play on other machines.. Windows based machines and pull the information on the track titles and many of them do not. Any assistance on how to avoid this problem. I would like to import these "mix" cd's but without information like track title, artist, etc... it is difficult to think I am going to rekey each and every mix CD.
    Any Assistance??

Apart from burning as an MP3 CD (with which the track
names etc. are stored as meta-data inside the MP3
files), the other option would be to burn using the
CD-TEXT standard. Unfortunately iTunes does not
support burning with this information (and for that
matter, many players including WMP for Windows do not
    support reading it).
I use Toast (in Mac OS X) to burn audio CDs using
CD-TEXT, I am sure there are plenty of equivalent
    packages for Windows.
However, I would agree MP3 format CDs is going to be
the simplest and most compatible option (although not
    of as good audio quality).
As of September 12th and the release of iTunes 7, iTunes
will now burn Audio CDs with CD-Text included (check in preferences). This applies to iTunes on both Mac and Windows.

  • Remove Track Numbers From Songtitle??

Is there any way to do this in windows? I done a search on google and found something but it was only for Mac OS X I think. I have a lot of songs and it is very annoying having to do this manually. Are there any programs which allows you to remove all of the track numbers from the title automatically?
    Thanks

This software will do it, once you figure out how...

  • Can't get track titles to appear when CD inserted for library

How do I get the ITunes library to recognize CD titles and track names from the internet?

Thanks for your response. I found the "menu" you mentioned when I clicked on one of the "tracks". When the menu opened I clicked, "Get track names" and a box opened saying that "The user is not authorized to access the internet." Very confusing.

  • Missing CD Track Titles

I composed some music with Garageband and I want to burn them to a music CD but when I do this the track titles are missing once the CD gets burned... is there something that I'm doing wrong? I burned it as a music CD should I change it to an MP3?
    Thanks!

Tracknames are not part of CDDA definitions
But what you can do to make your disk recognized by CDDB: After having burned your disk from iTunes Menu Advanced select "Submit CD Track Names".
After that it will take some hour or a few days but after that CDDB will identify your disk.
As iTunes under normal conditions keeps track of burned CDs, you can do that at any time on the machine where the CD has been created.

  • My CD track titles no longer show up on Windows Media Player; just Track 1, Track 2, etc. Is there a setting to correct this?

No matter which CD I play on my computer (using Windows Media Player), the title shows "Unknown Album", and each track is listed a s Track 1, 2, etc. instead of showing the song title. When I click on "Find album info", a message pops up saying "You must change your privacy settings in Tools, Options, to update information about the audio media you have selected". I don't see anything in the Privacy tab that has to do with audio media. All of this began when I changed to Firefox. I'm using Version 3.6.12

The Tools|Options it is talking about are those listed in WMP not FF.

  • HT203200 I HAVE JUST PURCHASED LES MISERABLES FROM THE STORE AND TWO TRACKS DID NOT DOWN LOAD. WHAT CAN I DO AND CAN I GET A REFUND FROM THE STORE OR DELETE ALBUM AND GET THE STORE TO DOWNLOAD AGAIN

I HAVE JUST PURCHASED LES MISERABLES FROM THE STORE BUT TWO TRACKS DID NOT DOWNLOAD. CAN I GET ANOTHER DOWNLOAD FROM THE STORE OR A REFUND? ALTERNATIVELY CAN I DOWNLOAD THE WHOLE ALBUM AGAIN FREE?

Try the Store tab in iTunes and Check for Downloads.
If that doesn't work go to the main itunes store screen in itunes and on teh right side under quick links see if you have a purchased secrion - do the tracks appear there for download?
    Failing that contact support:

Try posting in a more appropriate forum, as this has noting to do with itunes U - the place where University/college/museums post education material.

  • Is there a way to import in iTunes--from a CD--a partial track of a song?

is there a way to import in iTunes--from a CD--a partial track of a song? (i.E., there are a few seconds of junk-talk before the music begins; I'd like to omit the talk).

If you have the song in iTunes already you can select it and "Get Info" then under the options tab...I think it's options, I'm away from my computer....change the start time to a time that is after the talking intro.  From then on the song will start at the desired time.
