Renaming a system impact(s)

Hi,
As part of our upgrade we need to rename our existing development system from DR1 to DR2.  What is the impact of renaming an existing system from an ongoing development/configuration standpoint? Any thoughts, documents etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi
You need to change the SID before upgrade or after Upgrade through System Copy etc.   There is not harm in changing the SID,  make sure all the POST System Copy activities are carried out before the upgrade, eg. Instance Profile Names, etc.
Cheers

  • Query on System Impact -STO

    Hi All,
In my project,For various business reasons, we are looking to sett up the stores as plants u2013 meaning that we would follow the STO flow.
There are some 500 stores. This would mean that we would either configure 500 plants OR 1 plant with some 500 storage locations.
The STO process has some undeniable drawbacks: e.g. standard transit stock reports are only on plant level u2013 no distinction on storage location level.
I would  ask your assistance in clarifying the following questions:
    1. What is the system impact of configuring some 500 plants?
    2.  What is the system impact of STO between storage locations for 1 plant with some 500 storage locations?

    hi Arun ,
thanks for ur reply, well i have done the user mapping in the same way as u told.but my doubt is like for suppose i have a user named p1 on my portal side & two users named r1 & r2 on the R/3 side .now i have created a system object named sys1 and assigned it to p1 specifying
    username:r1
    pwd:*******
    in the user mapping.
now i want want the same p1 to connect from the portal to R/3 using
    username:r2
    pwd:*******
now can i use the same system object or should i create another system object.

  • Rename Source System Container in DAC

    Hi Friends
I want to rename my source container name .....I came to know that we will be having directly that option in DAC under File-->Rename Source System Container along with other User Management options But I am currently unable to view them .Are their any configurations required..........thanks in advance...
    With Regards
    Ven

    Hi,
You cannot rename the vanilla Source System Containers, Only copies of the Source System Containers inside which you do your customizations are allowed for rename. Hence it is mandatory that you make a copy, then in the list you will get the copies of Source System Containers not the original vanilla containers.
Note: DAC uses vanilla Source System Containers to track the customizations you have done, so it is very important that you donot modify anything in vanilla containers.

  • System impact if new division created in CRM

    Hi,
We have SAP CRM 7.0 and ECC 6.0,currently we have divisions 19,20,22 and 23 .These are maintained in ECC and replicated to CRM.Now there is requirement of new division and i am working on CRM  system impact analysis for sales process. Please let me know the impact on CRM system if new division is created  and also let me know in what all the areas this new division has to be updated (like org structure ...ect)
Please also let me know is there any relationship between division and product hierarchy.

    Hi
    1. It is always advisable to use one PRIMARY system for Master Data maintenance.
    2. If you have created earlier division in ECC and downloaded to CRM, it is best practise to create a new division in ECC and download the same to CRM
    3. This division, once downloaded to CRM, can be used in the ORGANIZATION structure.
    OR
    1. You can create a division in CRM and maintain the same in ORGANIZATION structure.  (The way divisions 19,20,22 and 23 are maintained in CRM)
    >>There is no relationship between the division and product hierarchy. (comm_hierarchy)
    Hope this will be helpful

  • Renaming deployed systems while retaining the Client object in SCCM

After deploying a system, we re-name it from the default MININT-xxxxxxxx name, depending on which office the system will be going to.  Usually, this creates no issue in the SCCM 2012 R2 console, but sometimes we see systems which show as having "No"
Client, but with the Last Status as "Complete".  We can wait for the AD, Network, and Heartbeat Discovery to re-discover the system, but sometimes even after a week, there's no change.  The systems are on the network (sleep, hibernate,
& hybrid sleep are all disabled).  Manually right-clicking the client in the Devices view & selecting "Install Client" doesn't help.  Perhaps choose the option to "Uninstall existing Configuration Manager client before the
client is installed" ?  We also see some "Unknown" computer objects which we delete.  Are these related to the re-naming the computers ?
    Thanks

The object you are seeing is probably a stale one that doesn't match up to the actual one in the DB. You can always confirm this by matching client's GUID with the one in the console for the resource.
Also, whenever you rename a system, always run a data discovery cycle on the client. This will update the corresponding resource in ConfigMgr (or create a new one). WHat is your heartbeat interval set at? I always recommend no less than once every day.
How about naming the systems correctly in the first place though? All this takes is populating the OSDComputerName variable which can be done in many different ways.

  • Renaming source systems

    Hi BW consultants,
We are planning to rename our ECC source systems.
We are evaluating impacts on BW target systems.
Is there a simple way that existing datasources / infosources / update rules (in dev, test and prd) are not lost and that we don't have to recreate them from dev and to transport them again?
Thank you for sharing your experience on that subject.
    Regards,
    John

    Hi John Iron,
Make sure you apply all code corrections for BDLS before running it. There is a summary of the latest SAP Notes to correct bugs in this transaction.
[886102 - System Landscape Copy for SAP NetWeaver BW.|https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/sap/support/notes/886102]
Just keep in mind that SAP doesn't support BDLS in productive systems. If you face any error, you may not be able to count with SAP Support.

  • Renaming Business System in SLD?

    Hello All,
I'm wondering if there exists an Option to rename a Business System inside SLD. It should be renamed in Receiver Determination, etc. on the Integration Builder as well.
In SLD I could rename a BS with "Administration/Content Maintenance". But what happens to the Directory if I would do so?
Does anybody have any experiences with that?
    Regards,
      Marc

    Hi Sarvesh,
using the configurator in the Integration Directory will save some time. After reimporting the Business System you let the configurator reconfigure receiver determinates, interface determinations and so on.

  • Help, I accidentally renamed the system library

I really screwed up.  Hope someone can help.  I was attempting to copy my entire hard drive to an external drive.  During the copy process I thought, "I should rename the library folder so I don't confuse the copied one with the original."  Somehow doing so renamed the library on my mac too.
So, now I can't correct the name back to library, can't get any programs to start, and can't shut down or restart.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?  Option+click won't allow me to rename it.  I can't open terminal to rename it that way.  I really messed up.
    Thanks,
    Mike

Restart from an alternate system and rename it back. If you need to use the recovery partition, open the Terminal from the Utilities menu and run:
    mv '/Volumes/volumename/foldername/' '/Volumes/volumename/Library/'
    changing the path as needed.

  • Can we rename the system generated constraint_name as per our convenience ?

    I created a table by
    CREATE TABLE table_name AS (SELECT * FROM existing_table_name WHERE 1=2);
and got the all constraints of the existing table with default names. I want to rename those constraints as per current table data.
    thank you in advance

WHY? What difference does the CONSTRAINT_NAME make?A lot. Because with a consistent naming convention it's a lot easier to understand the error message when the constraint is violated.
When you see this error message:
    SQL> insert into foo (id, some_value) values (1, -1);
insert into foo (id, some_value) values (1, -1)
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02290: check constraint (FOOBAR.SYS_C0016210) violatedDo you really know which column violates the constraint?
Now give the constraint a meaningful name, like this:
    SQL> insert into foo (id, some_value) values (1,-1);
insert into foo (id, some_value) values (1,-1)
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02290: check constraint (FOOBAR.CHK_SOME_VALUE_POSITIVE) violatedthen it becomes obvious which of the colums is meant.
    Or think about foreign keys:
    SQL> insert into bar (id, foo_id, product_id) values (1, 0, 0);
    insert into bar (id, foo_id, product_id) values (1, 0, 0)
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02291: integrity constraint (FOOBAR.SYS_C0016214) violated - parent key not foundAgain, with the right name, it becomes obvious which column violated the constraint:
    SQL> insert into bar (id, foo_id, product_id) values (1, 0, 0);
    insert into bar (id, foo_id, product_id) values (1, 0, 0)
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02291: integrity constraint (FOOBAR.FK_BAR_REFERENCES_FOO) violated - parent key not foundMost probably one would use a slighlty less verbose name for the foreign key in real life due to Oracles limit on identifiers, but it shows how much more readable an error message is, with a proper name.

  • Copy of source system - Impact for BI?

    Hello,
Basis wants to copy our R/3 source system from Prod. to Quality.
The R/3 quality system is connected to our BW Dev. system.
Is there anything which I have to keep in mind (from BW point of view)?
    Jobs are not scheduled.
    Any hint from the experts?

    Hi,
Start with delta queues. Its better to clear them before the system copy. After the process check if they are workin fine and if sll the DS are there as before and are getting populated properly. You can take a note of that before and after copy.
Also before the copy you may be rescheduling the V3 jobs, which you have to ensure are schecduled back after copy.
The third point will be connectivity to BW.
Fourth will to make sure that all the DS are in active state.
If DS time stamps may get corrected you may need to replcate them and activate them in BW.
See if you get some additonal points from these docs.

  • Folder Renaming - does it impact SUP Deploymnets

Hey -- quick question -- If I want to rename a folder in SCCM 2012 R2 console to something new, but not change the names of the collections w/in that folder, does that break any of my existing deployments targeted at these collections w/in the renamed folder?
I've got a top level folder called SUP - All Server Deployments
w/in that folder I have two collections called
    Servers Manual Patching
    Servers MW Patching
I want to rename the top level folder to SUP - NA - All Server Deployments (for North America).
Are folders just something for human organization in SP? I just want to make sure before I do it.
    Thanks.

Folder names are just folder names. No technical side effects.

    Hi Gurus,
I have a column called Emp Name and that column is used for 100 reports, now the client is asking like he wants Employee Name instead of Emp Name and in future also Employee Name is fixed.
So what we need to do I should I rename all the 100 Reports column name or any other alternative for this?
    Thanks

Open the RPD in online mode and change in the Presentation Layer,Check Global Consistency and Reload the server metadata the new name will reflect in all the reports.

  • Could a change in the Windows operating system impact DAQ response?

I use a PCI-6013 analog DAQ card (vintage 2002) to control and acquire data with a fairly old computer running Windows 2000. I installed the card in a newer computer running Windows XP. There were no other changes to software or hardware.
The data now frequently shows a strange response in the first 0.3 seconds after starting to collect data. It reads very low (sometimes bottoming out) and comes up to the calibrated value within that first 0.3 seconds.
Could the change in operating system be the cause of this? Is there something else I can do to diagnose what is happening?
    -Kelan

This sounds a bit questionable.  you are jumping from NT to XP withough changing software?
Well vintage 2002 would put you in LabVIEW 5.1 and most likely traditional DAQ.
LabVIEW 5.1 has no official support for Windows XP nor has 6.02 although it Should "Run without errors" according to prophisy-  that does not mean that there won't be issues just no errors.
What drivers and software are you trying to port from NT to XP?

  • Desktop folders being renamed by system????

My desktop folders sometimes randomly change names...e.g., my hard drive icon is named 'MacIntel'.... but sometimes, it will change itself to '0' or sometimes '30'... I can change it back by going to 'GetInfo'...unlock it... put in original name under 'Name and Extension' (erasing erroneous one) and then lock it again and the desktop folder will rename itself 'MacIntel'..... but usually a couple of days later the folder is renamed with some numbers.
I had a .pdf file on the desktop named 'Hawaii' and this morning it was named '=394+%'...
WHAT is going on here???  I am REALLY confused... it's only happening to my desktop folders
