Renaming HTML links in email apps

I use Yahoo mail on my iPad as my mail client.  Although I can receive renamed links, I can't seem to create them using the
standard HTML format for doing so.  If I copy and paste them, they default to the HTML text.
There also doesn't appear to be any active edit link to select for renaming the link once highlighted.
What am I doing wrong?

This is how I've found a way of doing:
Go to home/library/mail/signatures select all the files in there
Go to preferences in Mail and create a new signature
In the home/library/mail/signatures you will see a new file *.webarchive
Open your html signature with Safari
Go to File/Save as ... Save as over the new *.webarchive choosing webarchive for the format
Restart Apple mail if you need to
(for the images you will need to have them posted on a server)

  • I clicked on an HTML link in email, could this cause my mac to be infected by a virus?

I received an email from a friend which had a HTML link in it. I sometimes get these to display on a screen so it was not unusal so I clicked on the link.
When the site loaded I realised that this had not been sent by my friend so I closed it.
I've since found out that the friend had her email hacked allowing bogus emails to be sent.
I'm new to Mac's but I've been told that they don't get virus.
What is the risk of me opening the link?
How do I check if I have a problem?
    Thanks.

There is Mac malware out there, but just visiting a web page isn't enough to infect you.  See:

(Note that my pages contain links to other pages that promote my services, and this should not be taken as an endorsement of my services by Apple.)

  • HTML Link in Email template

We are trying to pull the service ID into an existing link in an email template.
We want to include the service ID in an email to an existing link that takes the customer to another place.  We want to pull the service.serviceid and place it at the end of the existing link.  Has anyone worked with this at all?
    Thanks - Wendy

Thanks Craig.  I can pull the service id into the email template using #Service.ServiceID#, but I can't get it to be at the end of the link to the site I want to send the user to.  Example:  I want to send someone to http://test.com/test/default.asp?Service = "this is where I need to pull in the service ID, so that it will be part of the link the customer will select.

  • Question: Sending a HTML-Link (via email) for updating data

    Hello,
I have an simple application which is club member request form.
Anyone who will get a member in our club can type in some personal data and after pressing the create button he will get a confirmation e-mail.
    Till here everything works fine.
Now I will put an confirmation link (HTML) in the confirmation e-mail.
The new member should click on this link and the link should update (and commit) a the column "confirm" in my new_member table depending on an ID.
    Now my problem:
I have no idea how this link should look like.
    Thanks for help

Generally, this kind of implementation goes deeper than just what the link looks like. In fact, what the link looks like depends entirely on how you've implemented the confirmation process in your database.
Although I've never done this specifically, I have given considerable thought to how it would be implemented. I thought that I would have a specific table that would hold pending confirmations. This table would hold some kind identifying data as well as a unique ID that would identify the row, probably something that looked like a GUID.
Given this table structure there would probably be a trigger or PL/SQL process that took the pending member information and moved it into the members table when the member clicked on a confirmation button on the confirmation page. Therefore, the link that is sent to the user would need to look something like this:
http://[yourhost.domain:port]/pls/[your DAD]/f?p=&app_id.:[your confirmation page #]&session.::::[your page item name]:[the unique ID for the member]
The page item name is the item you define on the confirmation page that will hold the confirmation ID and the unique Id comes out of the table for the specific membership you're confirming.
Again, this is conceptual since I've not done this specifically, but it should give you a place to start.

    Hi
If your reader device is a PRS-T1/T2/T3 (for now) you have to update firmware. So:
“The "Reader™ Store" icon and link is replaced with the "Kobo Store" icon and link to enable direct access to the Kobo eBook Store via Wi-Fi® connection.”
If  you use ReaderforPC(Mac) software, you have to update it:
“The "Reader™ Store" icon and link is replaced with the "Kobo Store" icon and link to enable direct access to the Kobo eBook Store”
    Here’s US Sony’s Support link: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/index.pl
Insert model name and then on “Drivers & Software” drop-down menu, select your OS. There you’ll find last firmware and software versions!

  • OSX Mountain Lion Email APP

I have a problem with ny retina macbook pro I updated to OSX mountain Lion after update the EMAIL APP in the area when you see the new emails if you scroll up or down begins to see deteriorate like garbage then I made a click in that area and the garbage dissapear and I can see the list of emails but is so bad because if I scroll down to see old emails I can´t see nothing because I see garbage and that garbage disappear when I make a click making useless this problem the email app. Any suggestion on how to fix that issue?
Note: Is just the problem with email app other apps and whole system are running perfect.
      Than you

I solved doing from that link https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4145777?start=0&tstart=0
    this:
    1. Bring up System Preferences, go to iCloud and uncheck "Contacts"
    2. You need to remove the folder /Users/<your_name>/Library/Application Support/AddressBook
If you have issues removing, quit Mail and Contacts
If you don't have contacts in iCloud, try renaming the folder
    3. Reboot the machine
    4. Bring up System Preferences, go to iCloud and now check "Contacts"
Now when you bring up Contacts, it should sync with iCloud, Mail and Messages will work fine.
    Then:
After trying everything listed in this thread without succes, deleting the following finally solved my problem:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
    ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
    This solved the issue.
    Thank you anyway

  • Get the address behind a link in email

    Hey all
I have a problem I can't seem to work out.
One of the email systems that I have to use automatically adds the word "blocked" to any html link in an email. So for example, if you get an email from Expedia with a link to your itinerary that says "Click here for your trip details", it will change the underlying link address from "http://expedia.com/" to "blockedhttp://expedia.com".
To get around this, you have to manually copy the link, and paste it into the browser, then remove the "blocked". Kind of a hassle.
I want to script this process as a Service. I've written Services before, and have experience in AS, but I can't figure out how to do it. Parsing the link and sending to my browser isn't a problem. The problem is that I haven't found a way to get Mail to pass me the value of the LINK instead of the TEXT.
I've even tried using Automator and telling it (as a Service) "Service receives selected URLs in Any Application" - but of course it doesn't recognize "blockedhttp" as a valid URL so it gets ignored.
Mail has the right-click "copy link" function - if I could figure out how to script that, I could grab the link of the clipboard and parse it. Alas, no dice there either.
Anyone have any clever thoughts about how I can extract the link from that href in Mail, or execute the "Copy Link" function?

Well, for anyone in the future who might have a situation like this to solve, here's the solution. At least, the only solution I could come up with, I'm sure a more brilliant programmer would do something different.
There seemed to be no way of grabbing the embedded link from the email text and getting it into a custom Service with a simple right-click. The suggestion to parse the file as raw source was interesting, but it would have meant parsing all of the sometimes several dozen emails I get everyday, looking for the few with links.
So, I went a different way. I wrote a script to handle the "on open location" event, and had it parse out the 'blocked' portion of the link, then fed that cleaned link back to the Finder to open in my default browser.
Save the Applescript as an application so it produced a bundle, then went into the bundle's info.plist file and set it up as the default handler for protocol 'blockedhttp' and 'blockedhttps'. It was added to LaunchServices (which OS X took care of for me). Now clicking a link formatted that way causes my AS app to be called as the handler, it does its simple little dance and passes it on.
Truth is the solution was simple, once I looked at it differently.
Hope that helps someone in the future!
    on run
    display dialog ¬
"This script applet will respond to webpage links beginning with:"¬
    & return & return & ¬
    "blockedhttp(s)://" buttons {"OK"} ¬
default button 1 with title "AKO Blockage Handler" with icon 1
tell application "Finder" to update (path to me)
    end run
    on open location this_url
set theLength to length of this_url
set newURL to (characters 8 through theLength) of this_url as string
    tell application "Finder"
    open location newURL
    end tell
    end open location
To make the info.plist file handle my new "protocol" I just added a couple of keys:
    <key>CFBundleURLTypes</key>
    <array>
    <dict>
    <key>CFBundleURLName</key>
    <string>BlockedURL Helper</string>
    <key>CFBundleURLSchemes</key>
    <array>
    <string>blockedhttp</string>
    <string>blockedhttps</string>
    </array>
    </dict>
    </array>
The CFBunderURLName is just a friendly name for the protocol, and the URLSchemes defines the protocol identifier.

  • HTML links in Vibe Feed and digest e-mails do not work on GW 8.0.3client

I have GroupWise 8.0.3hp1 on NetWare 6.5.8 and a Vibe 3.3 install on
SUSE 11 (the downloadable Vibe demo virtual machine from Novell's site).
I have recently started upgrading GroupWise clients on Windows 7 PCs
(64bit), and have been testing Vibe. I have run into a problem with
HTML links in GW clients not working on PCs where the GW client has been
    upgraded.
This problem occurs using the GroupWise 8.0.3hp2 and 8.0.3hp3 clients,
but does not occur on a 8.0.2hp2 client, so it appears to be GroupWise
client related. I haven't tested any other client versions.
    1. When using the GW 8.0.3 client, if I select any of the "Novell Vibe
OnPrem", "Favorites", or "My Teams" folders, I can see the Vibe Feed
display showing entries for sites I'm following. But clicking on the
links in these entries does nothing, so I cannot use the Vibe Feed to go
directly to files, profiles, etc. The same Vibe Feed links from the
Vibe web browser interface or from a GW8.0.2hp2 client works fine.
    2. If I have e-mail digest notifications setup to let me know when
changes are made to a folder or file in Vibe, the e-mails are delivered
to me just fine. But once again, none of the links in the e-mails work
when using the GW8.0.3 client. Clicking on them does nothing. If I
look at the e-mail message source, I can copy-and-paste the URLs
directly into a browser and they work fine, so the URLs themselves are
correct. Again, these links work fine if I use the GroupWise WebAccess
    or a GW8.0.2hp2 client.
Is the GW 8.0.3 client is blocking these HTML links? I receive no
notification from the client asking whether to "unblock" any
links/scripts/images when viewing messages with these Vibe links.
Any suggestions for getting these to work on GW 8.0.3 client?
    Thanks,
    -Greg

  • Problem with links on email templates

Problem with links on email templates
    Hi,
We have been having issues with links on our email templates. Some of the links point to the following URL:
    http://server'sname/thirdparty/FCKeditor/editor/fckeditor.html?InstanceName=emailTemplatesDTO.htmlBody&Toolbar=NewscaleFCKEditorToolBar#URL
Sometimes we get “Unknown internal error” on the web page.
Can anyone help or advise on how to resolve this issue?
    Many thanks,
    Wesley.

    Hi Wesley,
This is rather late, but we've seen the same thing frequently (and I believe can replicate it).  It's caused when you a creating a new email by copying the content of an existing one with a name space in it.
Upon copying, the link gets scrambled.  The approach we use is to copy the email in to a new template, then strip out all of the URL links and add them back in.
    Thanks!

  • Preserving HTML links when converting Word docs

I created a document in MS Word for Mac 2011 (ver 14.5.2)
When I used Adobe Pro 11 to convert the document into pdf format, all the HTML links are lost.
I have tried converting from MS Word, opening the word version with Adobe Pro, printing from MS Word to pdf.  Nothing works. Even opened the MS Word document using Apple's Pages software, re-formatted and then converted to pdf.  Still no live links.
Best work around so far is to convert and then use the edit feature in Adobe Pro to re-insert the HTML links as invisible rectangles on top of the still-blue-and- underlined text.  So to the user it looks like the html links are still live, but what a pain for editor.
I have seen this issue raised in other posts, but none of the answers seem to work. And the work around described above is clearly less than ideal.
Very curious, as reading other posts, the issue apparently does not arise when the word doc converted from a Wintel computer.  But I can't imagine Adobe writes software one way for Intel and another for Mac.

Imagine it. this has been 15 year fued between Microsoft and Adobe.  Adobe Claims that Mac office doesn't hav ethe proper hooks for URLs. Microsoft says the fault is with adobe.
Since a Word Created file will work when opened in the windows version  and saved as a PDF, the links work just fine. Just opening and not saving, but converted to Pdf does nothing to the actual Word File.
They had it fixed last year  in Acrobat X if your dropped the file on to Acroabt directly. But broke it again with the upgrade to XI.
IF you have iWork and Open the word file in Pages then exported as a Word.docx file then create The PDF the links will become active.  Also if you Open in OpenOffice and export as docx file the resulting PDF when open in Word and PDF is Created the links will become active.
If you have neither you will have to open the PDF and add the links. Note the Links will be hot (active) but the links will not turn Blue and  be Underlined
Mac Office2011 is a Conversion of Office2010/2007 code.  So there should be no pproblem.
Also Don't use the Save As . . .  PDF Method. Instead go to Print Menu  click on PDF wait for context menu > the choos Adobe Quality PDF or Adobe PDF (uses Adobe's PDF engine).
wait for next screen that shows qualtity leave as sent unles you need specific job options. click okay then next screen File name. Rename as necessary the browser to desired to location then click save.  Or you can drop the saved Word document (with Word quit.) on to Acrobat and after a minute or so the PDF will be created. (Using this method in AcrobatX would actully show URL s or Mailtos as active - They broke this in Acrobat XI PDF still can be created but hot links no longer work).
Well it seems it does work on occasion  see: http://www.screencast.com/t/cib2kcYG
