Renaming Multiple Discs on One Album

Hello iTunes people! I am having a bit of difficulty with iTunes 12 (well, take that for what you will). I recently purchased the Juggernaut album from Periphery which, if you know the album, has two parts: Alpha and Omega. I wanted to combine the two separate albums (which is how they are sold on the iTunes Store) into one two-disc album and rename the separate discs for Juggernaut: Alpha and Juggernaut: Omega; is this possible with iTunes 12? Could I download a program that helps me do this?

No, in iTunes an album is any collection of tracks with the same values for Album and Album Artist (or Artist, or set as a compilation). You cannot give the two discs different album names and keep them together at the same time.
If the disc numbers are not currently set then setting these would display the album in two groupings when using the Albums view. You could, for example, place the text [Alpha] at the end of the first track name and then [Omega] at then end of the first track name of the second disc, like this:
See One cover for multi-disc album for more on linking multi-disc albums together if needed.

  • How do you merge multiple songs into one album?

When I added a downloaded album to iTunes, it created one album for each track. How do I merge all of these albums/tracks into one album?

Some albums will fracture into a million pieces if you have different artist names. How the columns are sorted can effect this.
If it is a multiple artists on one album select 'Compilation' in the options section for all of the songs on the album.
NOTE: You need to have multiple items selected to set this flag!

  • How Do I Group Multiple Disks as One Album?

I've got the latest iTunes update, 11.0.4, and as with the update before it, I'm supposed to be able to group multiple disks as one album, but I can't figure out how, and can't find any directions at Apple.
I've lately begun ripping my large collection of symphonies and operas on CD into iTunes. Operas especially almost always come on two, three, or even four CD's, BUT IT'S ALL THE SAME OPERA, and the CD's come in the same boxed set. On top of that, there really aren't any "tracks" in an opera; the plot and the music unroll seamlessly from beginning to end (that sometimes takes 5 or 6 hours, which goes with the operatic territory).
On my CD player, I'm used to a pause between disks, but now that I've figured out how to get the "tracks" on each CD to play in order on iTunes (not so intuitive), I'd like to be able to go from the last "track" on Disk 1 to the first track on Disk 2 without interruption, since the technology should be able to support that option.
In the INFO box, I've tried keeping "1 of 3," "2 of 3," "3 of 3." No joy. So I've tried erasing the first element, 1, 2, 3, and just leaving the total number of disks. Again, no joy.
Since the album name is often filled in with something like "Carmen [Disk 1]" for example, and since Albums should have exactly the same name so that iTunes can figure out that in fact, they belong to the same work, I've tried deleting '[Disk 1]" etc. on all 3, leaving just "Carmen" in the appropriate space on the INFO panel for each of the 3 disks. Doesn't work.
Has anyone else been afflicted with the same problem?
    Has anyone got a solution?

Have you seen this helpful article:

    In the INFO box, I've tried keeping "1 of 3," "2 of 3," "3 of 3."
That is correct.  Don't   erase the first element, 1, 2, 3, that should not matter.
Also correct.  Also chec, if the  "Sort album name" is the same.
Do the artists differ on the tracks?
Then set the "Album Artist" on all CDs to the same name (Various Artists), also check, if the album sort artists names differ.

  • Move multiple events into one album

    Hi,
I am trying to tidy up our photos on iPhoto.
Is there a fast, easy way to move multiple 'Events' into one 'Folder'
    For example:
We have all of our photos from our honeymoon in Europe saved as seperate 'Events' According to the location. It was a 3 month trip so there are a lot of 'Events' or locations. Is there a way i can select all of them and put them into the Honeymoon 'folder' without them all merging into one big album?
I want to keep them as separate events within the folder so we can remember where they were taken.
I have been trying to drag the 'Event' over to the Honeymoon 'Folder' but instead of just going straight in there it creates a new unnamed folder on the left panel, and then i have to drag the event up to the honeymoon folder and delete the unnamed folder. It is proving rather time consuming and i have over 12000 photos to sort.
Any help would be great. Simple terms please!!
    Thanks

lf you drag an event onto a folder in the left hand pane the photos in that Event will be added to a new album in that folder with the same name as the Event. .

  • Multiple entries for one album and tracks are diveded between entries

After adding all my music into iTunes I have some albums listed multiple times with one or two tracks listed in each one. How can I get all the tracks for that album listed all together? Also is there any way to import album art from another program. Windows media player has all the album art and iTunes is missing about 40 percent of them?

Well, I tried everything in that article and when all my albums are in cover flow view multiple albums covers show for that one album. When I type in the album name, it narrows down to 1 CD.
As far as not being able to retrieve album artwork, I just do a google image search. After I have saved the pictures I go to the info for any song in that album and add it to artwork.

  • Add multiple libraries to one album

Can you add multiple libraries that have been previously downloaded to one album?

In Revel, libraries are where images are truly stored.  Albums are just simple containers for organization and sharing.  For any given library, an image can belong to a number of albums.  And if you delete an album, images remain safe in the main library.
It sounds like you want to consolidate images from multiple libraries into one location.  Currently, Revel does not allow one to copy or move images between libraries.  The only thing I can recommend is to import your images again into the library you where you want to consolidate.  If the images exist only in other Revel libraries, you will need to export them first, and then re-import them to the desired library.
If I didn't quite speak to your needs, please let me know so I can try to offer better help.

  • Merging Multiple Artists Into One Album

Ok so I donwloaded a CD called Buzz Cuts with alot of great artisits. Now my problem is there are 30 songs and Itunes is showing 30 different albums even though they are all from the same CD. Its messing up because of all the different artists. How can I merge them all into one album called Buzz Cuts. Or is there a way to sort them. Its a pain having 30 extra cds at the top screen. Please help.

All of this can be adjusted by simply right clicking a song and selecting "Get info." Under the info tab, you can customize things like crazy. For instance, you can insert into the "album" field the title of the compilation.

  • Multiple Displays of one album

    Hi there,
I am using iTunes 7.7.1 on the Mac and have a 3rd gen iPod nano. I have an issue with one particular album on my iTunes music library. I had to manually cut and paste the cover art of the album into iTunes and, although it displays fine on the mac, when I transfer it to my iPod it shows up on the coverflow as three separate albums.
I am scratching my head, I am sure the details within the track info for each track on the album is consistent and I ensure I cut and pasted the same cover art for all the tracks but the problem still persists.
    Any ideas?

    Hey,
I am answering my own question here but upon digging in the info menu for each track some of the tracks were different in the sorting tab. The sort album listing was slightly different for a few of the tracks (omitting the word 'The') and this accounted for the album displaying as one record on iTunes but appearing as three separate entries on the iPod Nano coverflow.

  • I imported a multi-disc album to itunes. How can I combine the 7 discs under one album title?

Each disc was imported separately, showing Disc01, Track A-J. There are 7 seven discs for this item (CD audiobook).

I'm having the same trouble, but it looks like no one is responding.  Hope someone does soon.

  • Multiple artist for one album

I hope I can explain this properly.  How can I organize my iTunes library so that songs by an artist FEATURING another artist is not listed as a seperate artist. For example, I have a CD by David Sanborn.  There are three songs on that CD where the artist is David Sanborn "featuring" another artist. In the iTunes library, this looks like seperate CDs by David Sanborn, but in actuality it's the same CD. If I want to play that David Sanborn CD on my iPod, it will not play the songs "featuring" other artists because it is organized as a seperate artist (David Sanborn featuring ..."  I like to find and play music by searching for the artist, not by CD title. Is there a way to search by artist, and have the entire CD play without excluding those songs that "feature" other artisits? Thanks.

Quick answer:  Select all the tracks on the album, File > get info, and either give them all a single "album artist" or check the "compilation" flag.

  • MULTIPLE ARTISTS IN ONE AL

    hi,
i hope that somebody could help me on this. i've been looking for some solutions in the forum but can't find it. for zen users, it is always hard to copy multiple artists in one album in the zen without scattering this artists everywhere. hope that these multiple artists stay in one artists/album in the zen menu and the best thing to do this is to edit these tracks individually. it's ok if you only edit about 20 artists but if you have 200 or more, this is something else.
i hope somebody in this forum has a better idea or recommended software on how to edit these things easily.. most of the tag softwares only edited the filenames? and some, edited it one by one...
    thks

You can't delete "artists" - just songs (or songs grouped into albums).  When iTunes displays the library or a playlist in Artists view it is doing so using the metadata values set in the relevant songs.  If you're looking at this view:
then your selections in the left pane - the artists list - is filtering what you see on the right.  When you select Delete via the keyboard or via a right-click operation, you are initiating an operation to delete the songs by that artist.  To delete songs by more than one artist in a single operation you'll need to select and delete in Albums view:
    or in Songs view:
where you can also use the Column Browser to filter songs by multiple artists:

  • Two disc album gets turned into one album on iPhone

I downloaded a two-disc album to my computer and in iTunes it showed up as two different albums, one for each disc. I corrected this issue by renaming the album name to be the same for all the songs on both discs ("The Mozart Album" as opposed to "The Mozart Album [Disc 1]" and "The Mozart Album [Disc 2]"). I also re-numbered the tracks to make sense in this new one-album solution (the tracks from the first disc came first, and then the tracks from the second disc followed, as opposed to having duplicate track numbers).
This seemed to work fine on iTunes. However, when I then synced my iPhone to my computer, to upload the new album to my iPhone, two albums appeared in the music app. Both of them had the same name ("The Mozart Album") and also all of the tracks retained their modified track numbers. So one album was called "The Mozart Album" and had tracks 7-19, and the other album was called "The Mozart Album" and had tracks 1-6. There seemed to be no reason why the two albums shouldn't just be one album with all the tracks from both discs, as I had created in iTunes. I figured it must be something to do with the properties of the actual m4a files, but I couldn't find anything in the properties that would've caused this (I was looked for something like a "Disc Number" property). There is the fact that the original titles of the files had 01 and 02 at the beginning of each track to indicate whether the track belonged to the first disc or the second disc, respectively, but I don't think that the name of the file would affect how they are sorted in the music app on the iPhone.
I am at a loss for how to force these tracks to be consolidated in one album as they should be on my iPhone and I would appreciate any help that can be offered.

I checked for differences in the fields across all of the tracks and found none that shouldn't be there. The track numbering is 1 through 6 on Disk 1 and 1 through 13 on Disk 2. They are all tagged "of 2" in the Disk number entries. See below:
I also tried un-syncing and re-syncing the album to my phone and nothing changed. See below:

  • Sorting multiple disc albums

When it's come to multiple disc albums, I arrange it on iTunes so that it's all one album, and have the disc numbers apparent, but on my iPod there is no where where it tells me where one disc ends and the other begins. What's the best/most compatible way to organize multidisc albums for iTunes and an iPod?

I have submitted a bug to http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html. Please feel free to use the template below if you wish to make your opinion heard:
    Dear Sir or Madam,
Updating to iTunes 9 has introduced a bug whereby the software doesn't recognize and separate multi CD albums.
Before the update, two disks would be correctly split 1-9, 1-9 but iTunes 9 instead lists the albums: Track 1, Track 1, Track 2, Track 2, Track 3, Track 3 and so on. This is present in all albums with more than one CD.
Furthermore the white background in grid view is hideous and should be reverted as soon as possible or a setting implemented so that the user can make a choice about the background colour.
    Yours faithfully,
    <Your-Name>

  • Organizing Albums with Multiple Discs

I have a lot of albums that have many discs. There seems to be two options for organizing them on my iPod. I can either 1) Label the individual disks as "Album: [Disc X]" and have many "albums" appear on my iPod, or 2) Label the discs as "Album," and have all of the discs appear under a single album on my iPod. Unfortunately, I have some very large albums (e.g., a collection of music by Beethoven that has 85 cd's). Neither of the above two options are optimal for these large collections. What I would like is if my iPod would allow albums with multiple discs to have a submenu listing those disks (i.e., one would have Music > Albums > Beethoven > Disc X). Is something like this possible? If not, are there any other ways of organizing these albums that I've failed to consider? Thanks!

There's no way of sub-dividing the album into separate discs while still keeping a single cover. For a box set scenario you might with to consider breaking things down differently. For example I have a 3 disc Tom Lehrer album which comprises 5 original albums and some odd individual releases. Rather than a single album of 70 tracks I've turned this into 6 albums, each with different artwork. For your complete works of Beethoven you could choose a different way of dividing the works into related groups other than by the original disc no. but you'll probably still have to live with multiple covers. Alternatively put it all under one cover but build a selection of playlists which you actually use to get access to the specific items of interest instead of trying to scroll through say 500 tracks.
See http://samsoft.org.uk/iTunes/grouping.asp for more organisational tips.
