Renaming Servers in CR Server XI R2

Hi,
Currently, the cms name and the machine name are different. We copied over the vmware that had CR Server XI.
First time I ran it, everything works fine. CMC and InfoView comes up fine. However, when I tried to run a report, I get an error saying that input server is down.
I have experienced this problem in BOE. I simply create another CMS that matches the machine name and I do the same for other server.
However, I can't do this on CR Server because of it's single server installation. Is there a way to rename the servers so that they match the machine?

Also I noticed when I go to check rights for this report object and select Administrator, this user comes up with
View objects that the user owns    - - Denied
Edit objects that the user owns    - - Denied
Modify the rights users have to objects that the user owns    - - Denied
Delete objects that the user owns    - - Denied
Delete instances that the user owns    - - Denied
View document instances that the user owns    - - Denied
Pause and Resume document instances that the user owns    - - Denied
Securely modify rights users have to objects that the user owns.    - - Denied
Reschedule instances that the user owns    - - Denied
This seems very unusual for a brand new installation, where I had not changed any of the default rights.
Anyway i went into the rights assigment for Administrators and changed
View objects that the user owns
         Edit objects that the user owns
         Modify the rights users have to objects that the user owns
         Delete objects that the user owns
         Change password for users that the user owns
         Copy objects that the user owns to another folder
         Subscribe to publications the users that the user owns
         Securely modify rights users have to objects that the user owns.
         Schedule on behalf of other users that the user owns
from not specified to Granted, but this still did not help

Error 503 after renaming SharePoint Foundation 2013 Server

We renamed a SharePoint Foundation 2013 server using the procedure outlined here:

Everything seemed to work fine until we tried to access the site afterwards. Now all we get when trying to access the site is the Error 503: Service is unavailable message. We can get into central administration without any problems.

According to your description, my understanding is that you encountered 503 error after renaming SharePoint Foundation 2013 Server.
For your issue, please refer to the actions as follow:
1.Check the web site properties in IIS. Under home directory tab, check the application pool value and then open that application pool from the application pools (separate node in the IIS tree). Click the
identity tab and see who is the pool assigned to. For the sake of testing, you can select "Predefined" and select local service from the drop down. Restart IIS and see if things work out for you. Http 503 error is generated by the IIS and it happens
when web server sends data stream back to the web site.
2.Verify that all SharePoint services are started, this error might occur because of changing the service account password. You may need to change the new password to application pool or SharePoint timer
service. Click the stopped application pool -> click advanced settings ->Identity ->click the user to retype the user ->Application Pool Identity dialog ->click set -> manually type the user name and password. Then restart the server.
If your issue persists, please provide detail error message of ULS log
to determine the exact cause of the error?
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS

Batch rename files on the server?

Can someone explain how to batch rename files on the server ?
I have 1000 rows each containing these fields
id (unique key)
productCode
filename1
filename2
For every row I need to rename the following fields:
Rename [filename1] to [productCode]_[id]_1
Rename [filename2] to [productCode]_[id]_2
also I need to rename the actual file on the server using the above scheme

So far I've got everything working apart from CFFILE which works only if it finds a corresponding jpeg file on the server. In other words it works perfectly until row 20 of the database because the filename contained in the field doesn't have a matching jpeg file on the server, so CFFILE fails like this...

Rename a Data Integrator server after initial installation

Is it possible to rename the Data Integrator server after initial installation?

The easiest thing to do is running the server manager before the migration and remove the repository assoziation or the entire jobserver. Same with the management console.
Then move the server.
And recreate the jobserver and webadmin entry.
In case it is too late for the first step, simply truncate AL_MACHINE_INFO table deleting all jobserver/webadmin links and then resync those.

PKI/DMVPN - Renaming an IOS CA Server

Hi,
Would anyone know what the impact might be on a DMVPN if I were to rename/recreate the internal IOS CA Server hostname and trustpoint?
I assume I would have to re-create the RSA certs and trustpoint from scratch. And then, I'd have to go to each of the routers (including spokes and headhends) and re-aquire the new root cert, then re-enroll for new router certs which seem like it will bring down the tunnels... and since the CA server is internal, once the tunnels are down, the spokes will not be able to renew unless I configure a temporary pre-shared key crypto tunnel.
Is there a better, simpler way?
If anyone's ever done this in a lab, I'd appreciate any comments...

You will have to recreate the RSA certificates and trustpoints if you rename the IOS CA server. You can configure graceful rollover for certificates. Graceful rollover of certificates avoids sudden loss of services in which new connections use the new certificate; existing connections continue to use the old certificate until the connections are closed.

SC 2012 R2 - Operations Manager - All servers except Management server show Not Monitored

Hi all,
I have installed System Centre 2012 R2 - Operations Manager and configured on our Domain and running without a problem. I used the VHD available here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=40844
I have created a single VM called VM1 and installed Windows Server 2012 R2. VM1 has also been joined to our domain.
The management packs for Server 2012 R2 have been downloaded to the SC2012 OM.
I have discovered and added in VM1 server to the OM Server. I can see the agent running in VM1 (Microsoft Monitoring Agent) but it always shows as "Not monitored".
I have restarted both servers, found the guide regarding "Greyed out or Not monitored" but the steps outlined have not resolved the issue.
The account used in the test domain to install and run the service is a Domain Admin account. The test domain network also disabled the firewall on all member servers.
I have stopped all services on the OM server, renamed the "Health Service State" folder as suggested but nothing has resolved the issue.
Could anyone please help me? If more information is needed I would be happy to provide it.

Thank you all. After coming into the office today I checked the event logs on VM1. All afternoon I had been getting 4 events every 15 minutes;
Three x 21023 - OpsMgr has no configuration for management group SCOM12 and is requesting new configuration from the Configuration Service
And one error, 20070 The OpsMgr Connector connected to SCOM12.test.local, but the connection was closed immediately after authentication occurred. The most likely cause of this error is that the agent is not authorized to communicate with the
server, or the server has not received configuration. Check the event log on the server for the presence of 20000 events, indicating that agents which are not approved are attempting to connect.
However at 00:04, I can see an event log 21019 - OpsMgr has returned to communicating with it's primary hostSCOM12.test.local and since then regular Health Service logs.
I checked in OM and now it is showing as Healthy and monitored - I guess this just needed a lot of time to configure itself? Is this normal behaviour?
I also checked VM1 TCP 5723 which it says was not open (the firewall is off on the server however it is working in OM.

Best practices for setting up virtual servers on Windows Server 2012 R2

I am creating a Web server from scratch with Windows Server 2012 R2. I expect to have a host server, and then 3 virtual servers...one that runs all of the web apps as a web server, another as a Database Server, and then on for session state. I
expect to use Windows Server 2012 R2 for the Web Server and Database Server, but Windows 7 for the session state.
I have an SATA2 Intel SROMBSASMR RAID card with battery back up that I am attaching a small SSD drive that I expect to use for the session state, and an IBM Server RAID M1015 SATA3 card that I am running Intel 520 Series SSD's that I expect to
use for Web server and Database server.
I have some questions. I am considering using the internal USB with a flash drive to boot the Host off of, and then using two small SSD's in a Raid 0 for the Web server (theory being that if something goes wrong, session state is on a different drive), and
then 2 more for the Database server in a RAID 1 configuration.
please feel free to poke holes in this and tell me of a better way to do it.
I am assuming that having the host running on a slow USB drive that is internal has no effect on the virtual servers after it is booted up, and the virtual servers are booted up?

There are two issues about RAID0:
1) It's not as fast as people think. So with a general purpose file system like NTFS or ReFS (choice for Windows is limited) you're not going to have any great benefits as there are very low chances whole RAID stripe would be updated @ the same time (I/Os
need to touch all SSDs in a set so 256KB+ in a real life). Web server workload is quite far away from sequential reads or writes so RAID0 is not going to shine here. Log-structures file system (or at least some FS with logging capabilities, think about ZFS
and ZIL enabled) *will* benefit from SSDs in RAID0 properly assigned.
2) RAID0 is dangerous. One lost SSD would render whole RAID set useless. So unless you build a network RAID1-over-RAID0 (mirror RAID sets between multiple hosts with a virtual SAN like or synchronous replication solutions) - you'll be sitting on a time bomb.

VM Server 3.0.2 -Unable to add servers to new server pool

Please forgive me if I'm missing something obvious. I am new to Oracle VM, and just setting up a test platform for the first time. (used virtualbox before).
I have a network environment that has 2 VM servers, 1 VM Manager (all 3 machines running on separate physical boxes). I have a 70Gb SAN share connecting with iSCSI from a freenas host. I have been able to see both VM servers as unmanaged, and can see the SAN share as Unmanaged iSCSI Storage Array. It let me create a test server pool, and allocate the SAN share as an available resource. When I attempt to add either of the VM Servers to the pool, I get the following job failure with error:

I have tried rebooting, rediscovering both servers, which complete successfuly. I just can't seem to get them to join any server pool that I create.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Also, double-check that DNS is working across all the machines: the Manager and the two Servers need to be able to resolve the hostnames of everything else on the network, so if you don't have DNS fully configured, you'll need to edit the /etc/hosts of all three machines first.

Problem while starting Managed Servers from Admin Server console

these guys are trying to run weblogic with JBuilder.
Looks like your classpath is incorrect, can you go to your admin console-->server-->remote start
copy the classpath and post it here.
Check for spaces in your classpath, missing jars or directories and miss spelt paths.
Has this problem been occuring as soon as you installed WLP or not?

Starting Managed Servers without admin Server

i have a Weblogic Server contains the following
Admin Server
LoadBalancer Server
Cluster Contains Server1 & Server2
and every thing is fine, but i have the following problem : while starting any Node from Cluster or LoadBalancer Server using startManagedWebLogic.cmd without starting up admin server, i am getting the following error in my log

Isn't this exactly what the admin service is used for?
I think you need to start the admin server before starting the other servers.

OraOledb, Linked Servers and SQL Server 2005 issues

Some issues I've come across when using SQL Server 2005 (and SQL Server Express 2005), the OraOLEDB provider (10.2.0.1) and a linked Oracle database (8.1.7.4.0 64-bit)
1) You must set the OraOledb.Oracle\AllowInProcess value to 1 to allow the OraOledb provider to run in SQL Server's process. Without doing this I receive an 'unspecified error' from the OLE DB provider when attempting to run a query
2) When running a ' select * ' query across a linked server using the provider, I receive the following error: Msg 9803, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Invalid data for type "numeric". I can, however, select all of the columns by name and the query completes (no error). Sometimes the 'select *' query returns a few rows before the error, sometimes it doesn't. The Microsoft Provider for Oracle does not have this problem

Okay... I've got a Win2K3 Std Ed server (x64) running 64-bit SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. I've installed the Oracle 10g 10.2.1 full client and admin tools, added two named services via the NetConfig assistant, and successfully set up (and tested) a connection via the ODBC Administrator to an Oracle database.
Now... when I try to create a new connection manager in SQL Server 2005 Integration Services, the OLEDB provider for Oracle can't be found, and when I try to manually add an underlying OLEDB connection to the database, SQL Server reports:
Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. The 'OraOLEDB.Oracle.1' provider is not registered on the local machine.
Does anyone know what I need to do to see my ODBC Server data connections in SQL Server 2005 (64 bit)? I don't have this issue on my 32-bit SQL Server 2005 servers.

I don't think you can install individual certs for all of them. which is not possible, but you can install server certs for particular classes.
In one instance,you can have multiple h/w virtual servers each binded to one ip.
This is possible in iws 6.0,you can install different certs for different virtual classes.

Moving multiple reporting servers to one server

Our current environment consists of several 2008 r2 native reporting servers that have there own reporting database.
Our new environment will be a load balanced 2012 native report server that will use one 1 SQL 2012 reporting database. How would I go about migrating all the 2008 R2 databases into 1 central database. I have read up about some migration tools
that are available but I'm not sure if the tool(s) will allow the option for specifying a specific database, which will allow all the content to moved.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Monitoring Managed servers if Admin server is unavailable in Weblogic

Is it possible to find managed servers state ( example: RUNNING, FAILED, UNKNOWN etc..) if Admin server is unavailable( may be down) in Weblogic.
We can search the state of managed server using keywords in managed server logs. But we don't want to do that.
Is there any other way to find the managed servers state.

WLST and connecting to managed servers is one option.
Another one is using a RESTful approach: the one that comes with WLS12c in centrally located on the admin server and therefore not really helpful in your case
You might try OpenSource Jolokia ( Overview ) which is a nifty little tool.

Error starting forms and reports manageed servers on windows server 2008

Everithing was ok during install and configuration steps, put forms and reports, run application, 2 days later, servers stoped and it has been impossible to start them:
