Renaming the song title by right click -- Get Info. But no longer able to do so.

I used to rename the songs in my iTunes from my PC while it was connecting to my iPhone by right click and Get Info. But I am no longer able to do that. When I right click, the Get Info part seems to be disabled for editing? Why is it so?

To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.

#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox"; Linux: "Firefox/File > Quit")

Sounds like the songs are Read Only or you do not have Write permsisions to the songs or the folder they are in.

Right click get info menu missing in new itunes store

Before the update if i couldn't get the album artwork for an album i had imported from a CD i would find album and one of its tracks on the store, right click it and select "get info". I would then see a dialogue box containing the pertinent information about the song such as title, artist name, composer, album artist, year, track number. If i then copied this information into the "get info" box of the song in my itunes library and tried to get the album artwork again, more often than not it worked.
now when i load up the itunes store and find the song i want to check the tags for i can no longer right click on it to get the information, i can only left click it to play a sample.
is it possible to access the "get info" information in the store anymore, if not does anyone have any good suggestions for fixing the tags on songs so that itunes recognises them and will download artwork for them and recognise them for genius.

After reinstalling, some of the songs in my library have 'get info' greyed out

This is really bizarre and getting me really frustrated. Like so many other people apparently tonight I got a notice to update and it screwed up iTunes. So I uninstalled everything and reinstalled iTunes. I made sure that I saved my library beforehand and reinstalled iTunes exactly where it used to be, which is D:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes. Media folder has not changed, it is under my iTunes program folder in D:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes Media.
After I reinstalled, I copied back my library file iTunes Library.itl, the Album Artwork and CD configuration folders in D:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes. Then I held the Shift key, restarted iTunes, selected my library file, and I was happy to see my library open again (and iTunes was working). All my settings have apparently been kept, including my Apple ID, CD import settings, etc...
But what has changed however is that some tracks (but not all, which is weird) are now apparently 'locked', meaning if I select a song and do "get info" all the information is greyed out and cannot be edited. But it's not all tracks. A lot of tracks are fine and normal. Even weirder, sometimes it's tracks from the same album that are mixed: so within an album, I can edit some tracks, and not others, info is greyed out.
This is really puzzling me and really ticking me off at the same time. It was working just fine last night. And now... my account has admin rights. I run Windows 7 64 bits, iTunes is 64 bits 11.1.4.62.
Even weirder: some tracks that 5 minutes ago were greyed out are now OK. ??? Could it be that it takes a while for iTunes to scan everything again and make everything available for editing? My library is rather big (150 gigs)... Can anybody help? Thanks very much in advance.

You need to find the file you want associated with that track. It should be in a logical structure in your Media folder. If you don't know how to find files or navigate the directories on your computer ask the IT person. Once you have found the file iTunes may ask if you want it to find others, and if you're lucky it can.

Right Click "Get Info"-style function for OPEN Documents

Often I'll open an item (most commonly a Pages doc.) through Spotlight, and not knowing where the item is necessarily filed, not even sure if it's Mac vs. iCloud, I would love a way to bring up the pertinent information on this already open item, the kind of info you could get by Right Clicking the item in Finder (see the problem - I don't know where the file is - also Finder searches seem increasingly useless for some reason.) I've searched through toolbar, right clicking, etc., no joy.
Is there perhaps a "show current document in Finder" function, the way there is for files in iTunes? That would would be great - instant file path view in the window, Right Click Info. one step away.
Hopefully there's a simple answer I've overlooked, or a relatively simple workaround. Or maybe even if if someone has any suggestions for making Finder searches work again - I'm completely stymied by the fact that it seems unable to find just about anything any more. It was never great, but at least until recently I found it reasonably functional. What happened? Links to other threads welcome.

Option Click Get Info for Old GUI?

The new GUI for Get Info in iTunes 12 is not only incredibly lacking but also an insult to long time iTunes users.
It makes the most simple of tasks become incredibly laborious.
For starters I am trying to add the "track x of x" field and cannot for the life of me find where to add that field to the new GUI.
Secondly, adding album artwork is ridiculous. I either have to scan the cover of my CD I just ripped or search the internet for the image, download it to my computer then upload it into iTunes? For real? lol.
So I googled and found many others like me questioning how iTunes 12 even came to be.... and they had a simple trick to bring back the old Get Info GUI. Simply hold down the option key as you click "Get Info."
That worked for a day or so. Now it doesn't work any more. I didn't update any software since it worked the first time.
Can someone please let me know what I am doing wrong. I simply want to use the old Get Info GUI rather than being forced to succumb to the major disaster iTunes 12 has turned out to be.

I rename a song title, click it & doesnt save the title PLEASE HELP!!!

So I rename a song title since it is not labeled correctly, and then it changed the title, and moves to the alphabetically correct spot, but then if i double click it after it is changed, it automatically changes the song title back to the original one, and then moves the file automatically to the old spot that it was before i changed the title. Does that make sense? Please help! I am finding it very hard when i rename a song, and it doesnt work!

View my earlier thread on id3 tag changes not sticking. I think I found the solution:
...These files would not allow the tag version to be changed from v2.4. However, if you ctrl-click->convert id3 tags and select id3 tags version as "none", it will default to v1.1. From there the tag info can be edited and the changes will stick. If you need to you can re-convert the tag version (eg.v2.3) and the edits will still be maintained.

Select the "songs" that are books in the iTunes music library listing. You can do this one at a time, or by selecting them all at once.
Right (or Control) click on the selection and select Get Info. In the Info window, go to the Options tab. Change Media Kind to Audiobook. Click OK.

This has never happened to me before and I have had my iPhone for a couple years now. Just today I bought a couple albums on my mac through iTunes and they downloaded just fine. I have iCloud so they were automatically transferred to my phone. When I go to listen to the songs I found that they won't play. There is a gray box on the far right next to the song title. It won't play and after a little while it just skips to the next song. The weird thing is some songs did download all the way and work just fine. Please help!!!!

I have heard of some people having a similar problem, which was resolved by a simple restart of their iPhone. If that doesn't help you, you may want to consider de-authorizingyour computer in iTunes, then re-authorizing it and performing a sync to your iPhone again.

Since upgrading to 3.6.13, i can no longer open tabs using the extension, only by right clicking on the open page, and then not always. I've had to go to Chrome as i can't get firefox to work.

Firefox worked great. I have been using it for years. When i completed the recent update to 3.6.13, the new tab button/extension little + box quit working. I can click and nothing happens. I right click, get the drop down menu but nothing works. I cannot open a blank tab or windwo as when i want to go somewhere new without closing windows i have open. The only way i can access a new tab is if i go to my bookmarks and open one then use that screen to go where i wanted to go. I've had to switch to Google Chrome to complete tasks i need done online, but it doesn't let me do a lot of what i want to.

I'll try to make this clear. I USED to be able to left click on a hyper link and the hyper link would open in a NEW tab. Now for some unknown reason the hyper link by default opens in the same tab (window). I have to right click the hyper link in order for it to open in a NEW tab. I burned a playlist from iTunes, and the song titles on the burned CD changed to Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, etc. How can I get the song titles to appear as they do in iTunes? Is this really too much to ask from the world's leading music player software?

If you are burning an audio CD, you cannot as audio CDs do not have track names. Nothing to do with Apple.

They will only be where you put them If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country. You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located.
