Render Compression Issue

I'm editing footage from a Canon 60D, 1080p, and have been editing it at full quality, as it has been functioning quite well thus far. The issue is when I render footage and then export it. While rendering, a loss in quality occurs. Through render compression, the image loses color information and degrades in overall quality. I've checked by render compression settings, which point to my sequence settings. I've included an image of my sequence settings in this post. Any advice? I need to do some color work and can't have the image quality degraded as a result of rendering, or anything else for that matter.

You kind of have it backwards - H.264 is the very compressed format, Pro Res is the high quality codec.
The file size is growing because H.264 is highly, highly compressed video. H.264 is designed for image acquisition and delivery, but not editing or post production. When you transcode to ProRes, your are 'unpacking" the video that has been compressed (jammed) together as tightly as possible into blocks of frames -  into distinct frames with a much greater storage of data per frame. This is why many high end cameras, and many DSLR shooters record on devices that use the ProRes codec - it bypasses the tremendous compression of H.264.
ProRes is a much better codec than H.264, which is why once your material is in ProRes, it will maintain quality as you move through editing and color correction, delivering an excellent quality master file that you can then compress into any delivery codecs you need.

  • GZIP Compression Issue in Weblogic 8.1

Has anyone experienced issues with gzip compression filtering in 8.1?
After about 2 months of dev. and testing with the filter, a bug has been found
in our portal, and I have traced it back to the filter that I downloaded from
    dev2dev code and utilities.
It is strange. The only time I see an issue is when a user clicks the "back button"
in the browser itself to go back to a previous page, AND then clicks a link (for
example) in a portlet that is tied to an action in a jpf for that portlet. The
error only happens for actions in a portlet that are local to that portlet (no
forwarding to other portlets or anything fancy)...just pure "local internal forwards."
If you do this, USING THE BACK BUTTON to get back to this page with the portlet,
when you click the action, you are actually taken to the page where you were when
    you clicked the back button.
I have re-created this is simple portals that have no content, so I know it is
    not something else I introduced.
Any ideas? Maybe it is the filter-mapping pattern I am using??? I am currently
mapping on *.portal, but this is the only situation that seems to break.

For those interested, I have some updates on this subject and someone out there sent me a mail asking if I ever found anything out.
Basically, when I encountered this issue the first time, I was working on a SP2 Portal. We were having numerous small bugs like this one with SP2 that centered around the back button or refresh button. BEA gave us a "super patch" back in July or so that when applied to our SP2 project, fixed our issue. I have sense moved onto SP3, and I did not see the compression issue (so I think SP3 must have the patches correctly setup...like I would assume it would).

  • Gzip compression issues from using a proxy?

Hello I am unable to load some websites now from suspected gzip compression issues? I have been using a proxy and now my firefox browser is messed up Plz Help [email protected]
    Thanks

It is possible to autenticate to a proxy server, but the question is what tye of authentication your proxy is carrying out . "Basic" or "digest".If it is Basic then you can use Base64 authentication scheme. You have to first set the System property variable to find proxy server (like port and IP Address)

  • Yes, more render/compression settings issues

I just got FCE, and have had the same rendering issues as everyone else. I've scanned through the topics for awhile looking for solutions, but I'm having trouble finding something that works properly on every end.
I'm currently using video recorded through Photobooth using my built in isight camera, and I have MPEG Streamclip downloaded to export to whatever format I need. Now I just need to find the correct Easy Setup settings along with a matching format from Streamclip.
What do you need to know in order to help me?
Thanks in advance for the help, I know you've all dealt with this a lot.

Open the clip the iSight camera captures in the QuickTime player and report on exactly what it says in Movie Info about the material. With that information we can tell you what format is best to convert it to in Streamclip and what settings to use in FCE. Remember after you change the FCE the settings you have to make a new sequence. The existing sequence does not change format, only new sequences, subsequent to the change, will have the new settings.

  • Premiere Pro 2.0 Render Farm Issues

    Hi,
I have a desktop and a laptop connected to each other using cat5 cable and a Linksys router. Each has a copy of Premiere Pro 2.0 and  FrameServer. I have a test movie that I would like to render on the farm. I exported the movie from my desktop to FrameServer. I then connected to the desktop from the laptop and began to receive the movie. But I can't render it on my desktop. I tried to connect to 127.0.0.1 using the FrameServer client, and it says that it's connected to two clients, but no frames are served to the desktop -- only the laptop. On another note, whenever I switch windows the rendering stops completely. There aren't any error messages and the program continues to run. It just says that there are zero frames being served. Here are my specs:
    Desktop
    Windows XP Professional SP3
AMD Athlon 7750 dual core, 2.7 GHz
    4 GB RAM
    ASUS EAH4670
    Laptop
    Windows Vista Business SP2
Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.5 GHz
    4 GB RAM
    ATI Radeon 3400
If it's a FrameServer issue, I'd be happy to try another program. I have Autodesk Maya and Combustion. Would their copy of Mental Ray or Backburner work with Premiere?
    Thanks for any help,
    Richard

I share files with the Vista laptop. They start to transfer frames in this case, but the transfer stops if I try to do something else on the desktop. I'm trying to connect to my own desktop, as well, to use it to render. But it won't transfer frames to itself, even though it says that it's connected to the local host.

  • Render Dependencies Issue in JSF Remote Portlet

    Hi All,
Am facing one issue while Rendering Dependencies (JS and CSS)
from a Remote Page (in Consumer) which contains a JSF Portlet in Producer.
I created a JSF Portlet and added the "home.dependencies" in Render Dependencies Path
    in producer.
Then i created a page "Sample.page" in producer and added the created JSF portlet.
Then in consumer I created a remote page which access the "Sample.page" in producer
and added it to the portal.
Then, after opening the portal in IE, on checking the view source, the dependencies
rendered in the head section of the portal are like..
    <head>
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="home.css"><script src="homeJobs.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    </head>
But, when i am trying to render dependencies from a JSP portlet using a remote page..
on checking the view source, then dependencies rendered in the head section of the portal
    are like..
    <head>

No idea about jsptags.com's pager tag, but consider creating your own request based paging implementation.
It is in fact simple. Add a request parameter representing the index of the first row to be displayed. Add a second parameter or less or more hardcoded setting representing the amount of rows to be displayed at once. On next, just add the one with the other. On previous just substract the one from the other. Use those parameters to obtain a sublist from the collection, or to fire a query which returns a subset of results. As you're using JSF, you may get some useful ideas out of this: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2008/10/effective-datatable-paging-and-sorting.html].

  • Render time Issues with 5.0 project in CC 12.1

This is actually a copy of a post I had in a different discussion entitled "render time" but this now
I did some extensive testing to try and see why my render times in CC were so much slower that 5.5 and I found some very interesting results.
The original project was created in 5.0 and opened in 5.5 and rendered, it contained video footage and graphics. When it was render in 5.5 it rendered in 4:27. When I opened it in 12.1 and rendered it was 18:00. I then started turning off layers and my render times shot up. basically layer 12 had two animated masks on colored solid. With this off it took 8:30
I then imported the project into 12.1 and saved it, reopened it and with layer 12 off it took 5:11. So importing and saving the project made a difference. Now I recreated layer 12 in 12.1 from scratch and turned it on and my rendered time was 6:50.
So there is something going on with projects being converted from earlier versions - Now to really test this theory I would need to recreate the project from scratch and compare to the 5.5 times.
To further test this we did the same sort of testing with a different comp and found similar results - the render times were different if it was imported vs. just opened. But the big thing we found with this comp was a layer where we were moving large stills with some z space. It looks like the 3d from 5.0 was causing a major slow down in CC on layers that has AE 3d applied.
I think the major take away is if your comp was created in 5.0 and you need to modify it, then make changes in 5.5 or 5.0 or be prepared to recreate any layers with more than simple key frames.
Just to also answer some other questions - in rendering to prores vs. animation or dvcprohd the times were almost the same. The animation was slightly longer but that makes sense cause the file was much bigger.
I also found that with 32 gigs of ram my magic number was 11 reserved for other apps ...
Hope someone can jump in and add some light to this
This was all done on a 2010 mac pro 2.66 w 12 cores 36 megs ram running 10.8.4 - I have 5.5 and CC and the 12. 1 updates are installed and the video card is an NVidia 575. Mulit threading was on and in 5.5 - 9 Megs is reserved and in 12.1 - 10 is reserved

I've experienced similar problem with Java Web Start twice.
Also using JRE version 1.5.0_06 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM and Browser Internet Explorer 6.0.2800.1106 on Windows XP (Problem was the same with Java 1.4.2)
My application was signed and launched via JNLP. The security warning popup was shown in the windows taskbar, but it was hidden. Using maximize in the taskmanager, I was able to see the dialog but it was blank. The problem was persistent, although I did not try as many times as 20-30 :-)
On both occations the problem occured on multi (3) screen systems, which I suspected to be the problem (Java has historically had some issues regarding multi screen systems), but now I'm not so sure.
Did you find a solution / cause?

  • Photoshop CC - EXPORT - RENDER VIDEO issue, screenshots included

    Hi there,
I´ve created a 25seconds long video in Photoshop CC. When I tried to export it, after I hit Export-Render Video, no dialog box open, it only shows progress bar sayin: Initializing Video Export" and there it stops. My Photoshop and Pc are working fine, nothing is frozen. Im using Windows 8. How can I fix this issue?
Thank you for your help in advance.
    Zdenka

I sometimes get this problem then if I kill Photoshop and try again everything goes smoothly and it renders.  There is something wrong in Photoshop video rendering module - when it fails it seems to get in an endless goto loop or so I guess as it is only using one of the eight cores and hyperthreads available to it, when working properly it uses all eight.  Exactly the same file with exactly the same edits hang without even getting to the stage you illustrate, hang as you illustrate, open the render box and then hang rendering or renders the video perfectly.  Something needs investigating by Adobe.

  • Cube compression issue

    Hello Gurus,
we have some strange behaviours with cube compression.
All requests are compressed, but in F table we still have some records.
The same records are stored in E table too, but with BEx query execution we can see correct result.
If we execute query in debug on RSRT, with SQL code display, the query reads only from F table or aggregates.
    How it is possible?
We just provide to insert the COMPNOMERGE object in RSADMIN table, but only after the first compression. Do you think thath with a initialization of cube and a new compression with COMPNOMERGE object could solve our problem?
    Could you help us?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards.

Well, but that's the whole point - the request ID!
That's why we do compression for at all - to merge together the data for the same key figures if they exist in both tables.
It's completely normal to have this situation.
    > I - If we execute query in debug on RSRT, with SQL code display, the query reads only from F table or aggregates. How it is possible?
    > You - Easy - you're statement about all requests being compressed is not true and/or it reads the necessary data from the aggregates.
    >

Well, obviously there was some other implicit restriction that lead to the selections made by OLAP.
Maybe the request read from the F-Facttable was neither rolled up nor compressed.
    > Very helpful, thanks.
    > Any others suggestions?
I'd check exactly the status of the requests and where they can be read from.
You may also try out to disable the aggregate usage in RSRT to see whether or not the data is also read from the E-facttable and check the result of the query.

  • Aspect ratio and render line issue

When I overwrite the video from the source (top left) window to the timeline, it is changing the aspect ratio and a red 'render' line is appearing on the time line.

  • MPEG-2 Compression issue!!

I’m getting a very a annoying issue when using compressor.
I have a 04:80 second apple pro res export form final cut, which I am then importing into compressor and applying the SD DVD: best quality 90 mins template so I can burn to a DVD.
The compression goes through successfully, however when I play the mpeg file through quicktime it takes about 10 seconds to play and says the duration is 2 hours long. The video IS there in the first 5 minutes but it keeps going with a black screen for 2 hours. If I try to burn this to disc any other video before it plays fine but when the track with this file comes it does nothing and restarts.
I’m using the default DVD settings in compressor and have tried high bit rate and lower but still does the same issue. The apple pro res file seems to have nothing wrong with it. Also, if I cut a fragment of the video and export using FCP and compress that it seems to work fine with the correct duration.
Not sure what the problem is, any help asap would be great?

There may be a clip or two somewhere down the Timeline that you're not aware of.  In FCP, with the Timeline window active, set an IN and OUT point for the part you want to export ... then export.   If that doesn't work, try exporting a self-contained movie (File->Export->QuickTime Movie) and see if that plays OK in QuickTime Player 7.  If it does, use that file in Compressor.

  • Bizarre Sound Distortion on Export - Not Newbie Compression issue

I'm trying out the Flash CS3 demo - OSX. (Using OSX 10.4.10.)
I've got a slightly complicated timeline with about 8 layers
and some things alpha fading in and out, and a bunch of sound
samples being used as timeline sound effects (forget the term, but
attached to frames not streaming). No scripting.
The sounds are mostly too long for the amount of time
allotted to them in the timeline, and cut previous sounds off. I'm
speculating this might be a possible issue. That is, I have say a 5
second sound, which has only 3 seconds of time to play, before
another sound interrupts it in the same timeline layer.
There are two separate layers of sound playing at the same
    time.
All the original sounds are imported into the movie as
44.1/16bit AIFFs. They are mono files (might be another possible
    issue).
I'm trying to export with quality of 128k MP3. I've been
    trying different variations:
    - setting the compression for the audio files in the
Library/setting movie export settings to use Library settings
    - setting audio files in the Library to use "default
compression", and specifying the correct 128k MP3 setting in the
    export settings
    - or both of these (set individually in library, then
    overridden in export settings).
I've tried with and without the "use mono" setting (both in
Library files and export settings). (This is a question for me:
what should be the correct setting for that when the original file
    already is mono?)
Sometimes everything's great. I test or export the movie and
    the sound is fine.
Other times I test or export the movie -- with exactly the
same audio settings as the last time when it worked -- and now get
unbearably hideous hissing/cracking instead of the correct sound.
Most dangerously -- I think but haven't quite convinced
myself -- the same flash export file may sometimes play fine, and
sometimes play with the distortion. So I'm not sure if this is an
export issue, Flash player issue, or combination of export doing
something semi-weird that the player only sometimes chokes on. A
"bad" export is distorted both in the desktop Flash player that
comes with the Flash demo, and in a browser with Flash plugin 9 r45
    (OSX).
    GUH!
And this is the $800 product which is little more than a
basic text editor for scripting and an animation timeline that
hasn't gotten updated functionality since 1999.

This is a peer-to-peer public forum - if you demand
individual and undivided attention to your issue
then you can use the official adobe tech support.
As for your issue...let's go step by step:
[*The sounds are mostly too long for the amount of time
    allotted to them in the
timeline, and cut previous sounds off. I'm speculating this
    might be a possible
issue. That is, I have say a 5 second sound, which has only 3
    seconds of time
to play, before another sound interrupts it in the same
    timeline layer.*]
Is this intended? You are having an issue with 5 second
sounds being cut off after 3 seconds...why
not place them on different layers to avoid this? I don't
    understand the workflow here.
[*There are two separate layers of sound playing at the same
    time.*]
Ok - that makes more sense, so you have 2 layers both
containing sounds that cut each other off?
[*All the original sounds are imported into the movie as
    44.1/16bit AIFFs. They
are mono files (might be another possible issue).*]
Mono shouldn't matter - but the quality of the original will
matter - specifically the levels, if
the overall level is originally too high (or "hot"), then
clipping will occur once compressed from
    Flash (in some cases).
[Sometimes everything's great. I test or export the movie
    and the sound is fine.]
    Can you provide the FLA?
[Other times I test or export the movie -- with exactly the
    same audio settings
as the last time when it worked -- and now get unbearably
    hideous
hissing/cracking instead of the correct sound.]
Never heard of this before - need to see the FLA.
[And this is the $800 product which is little more than a
    basic text editor for
scripting and an animation timeline that hasn't gotten
    updated functionality
    since 1999.]
You may take exception to this but it sounds very much like
user error or something beyond Flash
(like an issue with the source audio files). Your opinion is
subjective but AS3, Flash, Flex is
hardly "little more than a text editor". True the timeline
hasn't changed much over the years but
funny that it is still the king when it comes to animation
across so many mediums - why fix what
ain't broken and works so very well for so many worldwide?

  • Audio compression issues in iBooks Author

Hi - I am having quality issues with audio compression. I have a voice only file. It is fine in the original recording. I have saved to aiff and m4a and dropped both into iBooks widget. The widget "optimizes" it and the resulting sound is full of echo and sounds like repeats of first and last consonants of words. I even thought that my stereo channels might be out of sync, so mixed down to mono. Same sound problems in iBooks.

Found the root of the problem and a fix
    1. Your audio file is at 48hz
    2. Convert to 44.1 hz in Logic or any other Digital Audio Workstations
    3. Export to a labeled folder with settings  AIFF or Wave 16bit
    4. From the folder drag and drop audio files in iBooks Author
IBook Author auto 'opitimizing' can handle that with no glitches or dropouts
