Render files path is not correct...

My Scratch Disk for video/audio capture and video/audio render is set (System Settings) to a special scratch disk, but FCP is >not< using this scratch disk (available space 700 GB).
Instead of using my scratch disk FCP writes everything to my boot device: MacHD/Applications/Final Cut Pro/Contents/MacOS/...
I have the same problem with the waveform/thumbnail cache/autosave vault.
I've checked the system settings several times and everything is set like I want it, but FCP writes on the wrong disk!
Any idea what's wrong here???

You may find relief in trashing your FCP preference files. This will reset everything to the default location and should allow your changes to 'take hold'.

I tried it again using "save link as", and this time it actually worked! I just now downloaded several more using the "save link as" option, and it works perfectly. Thanks. Problem solved.

[Photoshop CS5] Optimize to File Size working not correctly.

Concise problem statement: Optimize to File Size working not correctly.
Steps to reproduce bug:
1. Open any photo.
2. Draw a slice
3. Save For Web, choose Optimize to File Size, type 10KB (Current Slice).
4. Save "selected slices" only
Results: File result larger than expect (over 10KB)
Expected results: <=10KB filesize.
I uninstalled whole Adobe CS5 Master Collection (Trial) & tried to reproduce the bug in Photoshop CS4, but it was not happened, it's ok on CS4.
Finally, Windows 7 is not reason, it's a bug of Photoshop CS5. Please fix, I don't want to buy a bugged software.
I really need the feature "Optimize to File Size" in my works.
P.S: I tested on 4 PCs, and the results is the same.

In the SFW dialog change the Metadata dropdown to None

Opening PDFs get "file path is not valid" errmsg

very strange...
I dumped a bunch of PDFs, word, excel & ppt files onto the documents folder.
All the PDFs give me "file path is not valid" errmsg and cannot be opened.
But the word, excel & ppt files can be opened.
Can someone help me figure it out?

I feel also compelled to mention that I've had a ticket open at rim for this issue since 04/21 and have been escalated numerous times and yet all this time rim support has had no clue how simple the problem is to fix. This solution was posted >2 full days ago.

The temporary file path is not valid. Lightroom cannot start

Windows XP, SP3, Lightroom 2.5.
External hard drive starts acting funny. Round here we expect hard drive failure, so I order a new drive and when it arrives copy the backup onto the new drive. The new drive has the same drive letter as the old one, but not the same name. When I try to open a catalog I get: "The temporary file path is not valid. Lightroom cannot start." The catalogs seem to be fine, as when I open lightroom directly, not by clicking the .lrcat file, catalogs look normal. If I copy the lrcat file to my internal hard drive it opens. If I create a new catalog on the external drive I get the same problem.
I have tried deleting the preferences file. I have tried deleteing and reinstalling lightroom. I have used the external HD on another computer with lightroom and it opens normally.
All I can imagine is that there is some setting, somewhere in the registry which does not get erased when the lightroom gets re-installed. Any guesses?
I am at a loss! Please hope me!

Could be your Windows tempfile path is messed up. You could try going to Control Panel/Advanced and pushing the Environment Variables button.See what the TEMP and TMP variables are set to.
Under "User Variables", both of mine are set to C:\Documents and Settings\<my name>\Local Settings\Temp.
Under "System Variables", both are set to C:\Windows\Temp.
Make sure that the directories referred to are legal and on accessible drives. Make sure they aren't read-only. It wouldn't hurt to create them if they don't exist.
It's worth a try, I think.

Every time I try to open a file the message "the file path is not valid" shows.

I'm having the same problem.
I just recently downloaded and installed the Acrobat Reader on my Archos 7 (home tablet). The installation run without any problems. But whenever I try to open a PDF file, a message shows up, telling me "Error: The file path is not valid".
I have tried almost every single folder on my tablet. Does the PDF file need a specific file name? Do I have to create a folder (what would be it's name)?
I haven't tried to download PDFs from the internet... it might work, but it would be great, if I can copy some PDFs from my computer to my tablet, too.

BSP file path is not displayed

Hi All,
I have a web interface created in BPS using BSP application to upload a flat file from the portal .
__Structure:__
Cost Center Plan Upload
Company Code
Currency
Version
Year
File Name
Here cost center, company code, currency, version and year are variables and File name is to select the text file from desktop.
The actual issue is not showing the path under File Name to select the file. And not displaying upload and save buttons too.
It is working fine in Quality and Production systems but not in Dev after the systems up-gradation.
Any guidance on this issue would be really appreciated.

Missing render file/project will not render

I'm new to using FCE - just got my iMac with FCE pre-installed a few weeks ago - and have run into a big problem with current project. When I open the program, it tells me one render file is offline and I can reconnect or continue. I have no idea where the file could possibly have gone, so I select 'continue'. But now the project will not render. I have four sequences open in the project file, and have tried everything - locking and unlocking tracks, selecting various combinations of render both, render all, render selection, rendering only audio or video, etc. All the appropriate render selections are checked in every option. But still, the project won't render any of the sequences; the render box comes up for a split second and goes away faster than the eye can follow. I've tried setting the scratch disk; that didn't help. I tried saving the project, closing and opening the project, etc. Nothing helps. It just won't render. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this problem?

When I say it won't render, I literally mean nothing happens when I hit the render command. I see the red timeline render bars. However, I see them only when I go to export the video as something else - a mov, dv stream, etc. In the project while working, there's nothing indicating render is required.
To try and solve this problem of the missing audio clip, I opened a new project and imported the .mov file I was working with initially, which theoretically should have all its parts intact. I made the necessary modifications to the file (essentially starting all over) and then attempted to render. It still won't render. Nothing happens at all when I click any of the render options, even after I've made modifications to the video that would clearly require render - changing the aspect ratio and applying a widescreen video filter. So the program should recognize the changes and render, but nothing happens, whether I choose render from the menu or hit the keyboard shortcut.
I'm a little hesitant to try scrapping the preferences as suggested above, but I am totally perplexed.

ITunes on macbook pro - resetting music file path when not on my network

I suspect I know the answer to this already, but I hope I'm wrong! :-D
I have my macbook a while now, but I've only recently started using iTunes properly.
I have a home network, which consists of my macbook pro, a dell laptop running XP, a Nintendo Wii, a Sumvision Netbox NAS 1TB drive and a Logitech Squeezebox Boom.
I'm using the NAS as my music storage, iTunes rips music and stores it here.
This is all good.
The Squeezebox Boom (for anyone who doesn't know) is a neat little Wifi radio/mp3 player, it streams radio from the web, and also music from the NAS.
The software that controls it is called the Squeeze center.
At the moment I have this software linked to iTunes, so when I add music to my library via iTunes the squeeze center automatically scans the music library and updates itself taking in music details, play lists, art work and all, it's a great system.
The problem I have is when I take my laptop anywhere, iTunes changes the iTunes music folder location automatically to the internal hard drive, which means when I get home again I have to reset the file path and iTunes then has to scan the folder and organise everything again.
not only that, as soon as the squeeze center sees the file path has changed it points at the new location (on the macbook hard drive) and looses the library.
so when I reset iTunes, the squeeze center has to rescan everything again also.
It's quite annoying.
I have a work around in that I can tell the squeezecenter not to look at iTunes and hard wire it to the location, but I'd rather not do that.
Is it possible to get iTunes to keep the NAS music folder as the iTunes Music folder location even when the macbook isn't on the network?
Or will it always change the folder when I leave the network.

I've had this problem for ages, only now it seems as though iTunes is no longer restoring my music folder to the NAS if I start it when the NAS is connected. This is proving a pain in the a** because I keep forgetting about it, going online and buying a load of music from the store and then I find I've got a gig to consolidate when I realise my music folder has filled up! Funnily enough, I've downloaded and edited an applescript that automatically checks every half hour whether or not I'm on my home network, if I am it mounts my network drive for me. I really miss the airport disk utility's automatic mount feature. What I think I'l do is create another one for iTunes, to serve as a shortcut to iTunes, but when it's run it will check to see if you're on your home network, if so mount the NAS (if it isn't already), if not, or if it can't mount it will ask you whether you want to run iTunes after warning you that your NAS isn't connected. The only potential problem I could see is when iTunes runs as a result of you opening a music file in Finder. However I'm sure we could associate the applescript 'shortcut' with music instead of iTunes? I'll post here if and when I'm successful.

I'm not sure about the function Get-SqlData, However, Please make sure you have the right input format of the parameter -Counter in the cmdlet Get-Counter with "[\\<ComputerName>]\<CounterSet>(<Instance>)\<CounterName>".
To get the right counter example of Memory Counter set, try to run the cmdlet below:

Uploading files Mime Type not correct for Office 2007 default extensions.

hi all,
My company has recently moved over to MS Office 2007 and the default extensions for word, excel etc are now .docx, xlsx etc (ie xml based).
Unfortunately now when we upload files through APEX to the database the MIME TYPE value for these files isn't being recognised and not loadeding correctly into the APEX_APPLICATION_FILES table and subsequently any future retrieval of these files fails.
I could put some logic inthe up load procedure to look at the filename in APEX_APPLICATION_FILES and hard code in the releavnt mime types but this still causes problems when retrieving the content.
Has anyone come across this and got a workround? Is it a bug in AE?

I have not any response to my question and not sure if it is in Apex I need to look or the tomcat server that I need to look. I have a useful application to try to show others what Apex can do for our customers to collaborate. However, most of our customers are using office 2007 so, hoping this is possible.
I am using apex 3.2.0.00.27 if that helps someone to point me where to find more info on being able to have Word 2007 or excel 2007 fire up to open a .docx or .xlss file stored in a table blob column. Word or Excel does fire up to open .doc and .xls files.

File paths does not match with file name

Hi,
somehow iTunes does not properly file my audiobooks. Eventhough all audiobooks are marked as media type: AudioBooks and Genre: AudioBook (German: Hörbuch), but when looking in Music --> iTunes --> iTunesMedia --> AudioBooks there's only a few AudioBooks that I bought with Audible.
All the other AudioBooks are stored I don't know where. When opening the information about an AudioBook, and select "overview" it says at "location" ...iTunesMedia/Music/... and an artist name or compilation followed by an artist name.
How can I easily redirect iTunes to store the AudioBooks in AudioBooks and not under some wired musican's name where I never placed the audiobook before
Any idea? Does anybody know of this bizare problem?

thanks for the tip, but since I have my iTunes Library on a NAS I have to direct iTunes every now and than via "choose library" to the folder and it doesn't make a difference...
I think it's somehow due to my iTunes Match. I know they do not sync audiobooks, but they mess up pretty much everything else within my library. Songnames here and there and especially cd covers!
Any other idea how to get it straigten out again?

Logical file path is not working properly with different DTP's

Hi all,
I have a open hub, that push data in to application server(AL11) with file name /tmp/.
I have two DTP's, one for company code. P001 and other for U001.
i want to display dynamic file names as P001 when DTP for P001 is executed and U001 when DTP for U001 is executed
file names as follows /tmp/P00120110412openhub.csv and /tmp/U00120110412openhub.csv.
for this i have writen code in function module Y_FILENAME_EXIT_name. and it is working fine.
my problem is I can run only one DTP and only one time, for this it is creating the file. when i am executing the same DTP or other DTP, the DTP is running without errors and it is not creating the file in AL11. if I activate the open hub and execute the DTP then it is creating the file.
every time i have activate the open hub and then i am running the DTP's. please suggest me to avoid this.

RemoteApp File Paths do not support Symbolic Links

Has anyone gotten RemoteApp to work with symbolic links?
I have an application in C:\app\1.0 . I have a symbolic link C:\app\latest that points to the 1.0 folder. When I publish the application through the GUI, it stores the path as C:\app\1.0 rather than C:\app\latest. If I use a PowerShell Command, it will store
the symbolic link version of the path, but the application will fail to open.

As per my research, I can say that it supports the symbolic link for RemoteApp. But please check that you have placed the correct path links for RemoteApp to use. As when RemoteApp used the symbolic link, we must have the path link correct which will open the
application.
Also please see that you have latest version of client RDP installed, RDP 8.1.

Last night LR2.0 shut down on me and now this is the error message I am receiving. I am on a MacBook Pro, OSX 10.4.11. I'd love some assistance on this, as I am in the middle of several projects.

Did the odd little trick work??- And the key is that LR has to be shut down; there
b should be a *.lock file when LR is running.
Prefs- Your preferences file- doubt that there's any problem with it as you seem to have not used a lot of different versions. It keeps track of all catalogs' locations, but can't do so when catalog is moved in Finder. [It does a bunch of other things, too....]
