Render framemaker files in Documentum Content Server to pdf

Is there a third party tool available which can communicate with Documentum Document transformation service to convert a framemaker file or book to pdf?

I've a question about how i can do the next project.
My development team wants develop in our SAP ECC 6.0 system an application that allows them work with the documents storaged in our Documentum Content Server, and after they must be able to search over does document contents an retrieve them from content server.
Basically, we need indexing the documents of Content Server for use it in SAP system.
It's possibily do it only with Documentum Content Server?? or we need SAP Trex??

Decompress files in HTTP Content Server

Hello,
I have a problem with the consistency of files stored in HTTP content server. That is to say I have an inconsistency between the object and content of the linked file.
I have a controller program for consistency but I do not know how to decompress.
The files in the content server are compressed with CSCompress (I think). Is there a possibility to decompress this files ?

Conerning your questions regarding the possibility to decompress the
files outside the SAP system, I'm afraid this is not possible. The
document files are stored in a compressed format. Even if you managed
to extrace the files from the tables, their content still remains
compressed. In other words, you still have to rely on SAP Content
Server's decompression logic to generate the original content. The only
way to retrieve the files, therefore, is by using the SAP Content
Server HTTP Interface.

CFolder with Documentum content server

Hello,
We have installed cFolder on WAS which has a RFC connection with ECC6.0 and this ECC6.0 instance uses Documentum content server. I want to understand , is there any impact in terms of document export/import in between content server and cFolder ? Like in normal scenario where cFolder using SAP content server, we use CFE01 and CFI01 transactions in ECC for document import/export in between back-end system and cFolder, in my case can we use the same transactions for document import/export?
Please clear my understanding.

Cfolders is basically a functionality in the PLM.
However this can be used in the SRM for the Bidding Scenario.
The functionality deals with the Creation and maintaining a collaboration room in the Public area by the Buyer so that all his bidders can access and allows the Bidders also to create a collaboration room so that the buyer alone can access.
On conversion of a successful bid into the PO the PO will have a link to the Cfolders.
The customizing would be quite simple.
I am sure you will find a document in the SAP Market Place.

How to get the file on the content server via ABAP

We are working on an abap that should download certain files stored on the content server and store them on a different file location using GUI_DOWNLOAD. How can we retrieve the files (PDF's) via ABAP from the contentserver?

I think the DMS BAPIs could be useful here. For example you can use BAPI Document_CheckOutViewX or Document.CheckOutView2. You will find the documentation for these BAPIs in transaction BAPI under subtopic 'Cross-Application-Components'.
Further maybe the information in the SAP note 504692 and 796709 could be useful too.

Original File storage in Content Server

Hi Gurus,
My client has installed Content server for SAPDMS. Before installing content server we were storing files in the sap database.
when i store original files from the transaction CV01n, i want to find out whether the files are stored in the sap database or CS.
SInce earlier in the check-in document screen, the storage categories mentioned are seen. Now again after we installed content
server we can see them with the new storage category of content server, since i have defined all these in the VAULT.
My question is, there is any path between the DATA carrier and the storage conditions.
Kindly solve this gurus.

You can use File to File using FTP at the Receiver side
And also you are handling the File data,you may use the File content conversion.In Receiveing File communication channel ,select the FTP connection and provide all the Technical details regarding the DMS Content Server .

Display different types of file formats from contents server on web UI

Hi,
I have to read different types of documents from content server and display it in web page using webdynpro abap.
Different types of documents are : Tif, Jpeg, BMP, PNG etc. need to be convert into gif format and display
Txt files as it is.
PDF files as it is.
Microsoft office documents as it is.
ALF files i.e. printlists to be shown on web page.
Please anyone has any information regarding this let me know ASAP.

Well you can manipulate the MIME content at runtime by using the API: CL_MIME_REPOSITORY_API. However if your content is temporary, it is more efficient to just place the content directly into the ICM cache. You don't have the overhead of having to both write and then delete it from the database. Here is an example of how you can do this:

but when i am importing whole book then i am not able to make it.
And also it is not showing any error on console

Ok, silly question - why are you bothering to try and create PDFs from RH when you've got FM? FM to PDF produces great results; RH to PDF involves having to go through Word - i.e. RH - Word - PDF = too much work IMHO.

How to get data from pdf file and send contents of the pdf file to R/3

1. Make a pdf forms (interactive form) with inputfield named A_inputfield in the webdynpro application and run the webdynpro application.
2. In the IE, click the save button in the pdf interactive form and save the pdf to local disk,ex: C disk. Close the IE browser.
3. Open the pdf interactive form from the local C disk and type "aaa" to the A_inputfield.
4. I want to save the "aaa" to the R/3 system using webdynpro or using other tools . How can I do it?
First way:
If I use webdynpro application to save the content of the pdf, I don't find a way mapping or binding the content to a context of a view. So I don't think this way is unadvisable.
Second way:
Adding a button "submit" in the pdf forms when create the pdf form. Runing the webdynpro application, save the pdf to local disk,ex: C disk. Opening the pdf interactive form from the local c disk and typing "aaa" to the A_inputfield, click the "submit" button to save the content. Of course, I need to finish the code for clicking "submit" button. But I don't know how to write these codes and where to write these codes. Do you give me some advise ?

Download originate file from DMS content server

I want to copy a originate file which is attached with a document and save it in one particular location in my pc.

For this requirement you can use the report DMS_KPRO_READ in transaction SE38.
With this report the existing original files of a document info records were retreived and you can download them by using th small green download button.
Further you can use the 'copy to' context menu function in transaction CV02N or CV03N. Here please mark an original and in the context menu you will find the 'Copy to' entry which enables you to dowload the file locally to your PC too.

The question:
I nee to copy any kind of file from content server to any network directory.
Explanation
1. transaction CV02N
2. There is attached file for a document in tab "Document data/Original"
3. This file stored in content server
4. I wrote program code that creates path of the stored file that finally looks like
http://cont:8888/ContentServer.dll?get&Version=.....*...&compid=app1.doc
where app1.doc is file's name and I have to copy this file into network directory.
The problem is that this URL open the file instead of just pointing to him
so that no function or method can't see this file and as the result I got message that
the file doesn\t exist.
Please, advice.

but i would like to hear a little more from u. i have another question. here in this code (provided earlier), i searched for attribute values in the manifest file, then again i load the required class file from the very url. is it not good to retrieve the whole jar file first, and then check attribute values inside manifest file and load the required class files from that jar file that is already downloaded without going to that url again? how can i do this?

Check-out originals from Content Server to File server?

Hello Experts,
We have urgent requirement to check-out huge number of originals from the Content server and send to an application server (ftp server).
The input data that we can use to fetch the originals are PHOIO nunber or LOIO or Original File name.
I tested below function module but they does not seem to meet our requirements.
BAPI_DOCUMENT_CHECKOUTVIEW2 - Originals are checked-out to C:\Temp\
CV120_KPRO_CHECKOUT_TO_SERVER
CV120_KPRO_CHECKOUT_TO_TABLE
SDOK_PHIO_LOAD_CONTENT - here the content is written to table in binary mode.
CV120_DOC_GET_FILE
Also i tested program - DMS_KPRO_READ. In this case, manual action is required to select the path in front end where the originals needs to be checked-out.
Please help if you have suitable solutions.

Hello Sandeep,
You can use "DMS_KPRO_READ" report to achive your purpose. In this report you will get PHIO ID & LOIO ID. with these ID's you will get originals path to download the files uploaded on content server to application server or FTP server.
Use F_BROWSE function to select all files in foreground/background to downlaod it on desktop. I have implement in my project & it is working fine till date.

Very large files checkin to DMS/content server

Dear experts,
We have DMS with content server up and running.
However, there is a problem with very large files (up to 2GB!) - these files cannot be checked in due to extremely long upload times and maybe GUI limitations.
Does anyone have suggestions how we could get very large files into the content server ? I only want to check them in (either via DMS or directly to the content server) and then get the URL back.

Hi Johannes,
unfortunatly there is a limit for files regarding the Content Server which is about 2GB. Please note that such large files will cause very long upload times. If possible I would recommend you to split the files to smaller parts and try to check it in.
From my point of view it is not recommended to put files directly on the Content Server, because this could lead to inconsistencies on the Content Server.
