Render Queue FLV-flash export problem

Someone please tell me what am I doing wrong:
If I export my work to Flash Video via Render Queue, AE makes twice the file size copared to exporting it via File>Export>Flash Video(FLV).
I DO use the same exact setings of course,... and in Render Queue there is a calculation on the botom when you go and fix the settings - "size of data"/second. If I calculate that it's exactly right. But I only get that file size if I export it via File>Export>Flash Video(FLV) and not trough Render Queue.
Is that some kind of a bug in AE? What am I doing wrong??
(There is just too much work to not use the Render Queue)
I use:
Windows 64 bit
Core 2 quad
8gb ram
Adobe AE CS3 8.0.2.27
Thanks,
Met

Yes I am,... but I am doing exact same thing via File>Export>Flash Video(FLV). I am also embeding alpha there.
Like I said,... in both cases I went trough the setings (several times) just to make sure I am actualy using identical setings.
I do need the transparancy ; )
thanks
Any other suggestions??

  • Encore CS6 Flash Export problem

    Hey There!
I am having a problem with my encore CS6 flash exports.
The DVD menus are shown the right way in the browser but, when I select a video to be played, the flash player shows me the video controls but no video. The background stays grey. I've tried exporting FLV and F4V and the problem is the same.
It looks like the link in the XML is not good. The videos are in the folder exported by Encore and they play well in VLC. Do you have to edit the XML file to make this work? I guess not...
Maybe reinstalling everything? Because from my perspective, it looks like it is an easy procedure and it should work.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    My specs:
    - Mac Pro late 2013 with Maveriks 10.9.4
    - Safari 7.05
    - Encore CS6

The Encore structure puts the flv in a "sources" subdirectory under the level with the index.html.
As long as the user has not modified anything, the path should be okay.
Nicolas, confirm that the directory with index.html file also has a subdirectory called "sources," and that that is where the flv/f4v is.
My suspicion for many users with a local, but not web problem, are having a local permissions issue.
One user reported fixing a similar problem by removing odd characters in the filenames. The theory was that the characters were breaking the xml linking.

  • Encore CS6 Flash Export problem, Grey screens

    Hi everyone,
I am having a problem with my encore CS6 flash exports, they are not behaving as expected online (seems to be like a loading issue).
I've tried exporting FLV and F4V and the problem is the same. The same project exported from CS5.5 does not produce this undesirable
problem. It may be important to say that the project was started in CS5.5.
I have a button that links to another menu, and I am using videos as 'transitions'. The videos are dynamic after effects compositions.
When it's online, and you press the button it fills the canvas with a  'grey screen' before starting the video transition. This totally breaks
the experience and feels like an authoring error. It would be important to note, that this screens only appear the first time you see the flash.
Somehow the next time you press it doesnt show it.
I would happily go back to CS5.5 but I started using auto-activate buttons that are only available on CS6 flash exports.
Any ideas what has changed between this versions flash exports?
    Any help would be appreciated..
    Thanks in advance,
    Cris

    Encore CS6 6.0.2.004, IE9, Win7
Simple project, DVD NTSC, One menu with one button. One timeline. Menu first play, button linked to timeline.
Output flash with flv (and again with f4v - same results), No template, keep with flash swf rather than streaming.
Open index.html locally, must manually enable active content. Menu opens, movie plays. No grey screen.
Copy entire folder to USB, same result; USB plays on a different PC also.
Upload to web site; same result.
Am I doing soething differently from either of you? Are you using templates?
Factors related to flash security (for local and probably USB playback) can be problems. Various server settings can be problems for on line.

  • Which: Export AE Render Queue ? PP Export Media ? Media Encoder?

The output of my PP and AE project ( combined video and animation ) looks terrible when exported or queued in PP or the CS5 Media Encoder.
It renders slow and has shown poor performance in the Mac OS X Activity Monitor.
When output to the AE queue ... the project looks great,, encodes super fast, and 'finally' shows awesome performance in the Activity Monitor.
I spent too much time trying different settings before I tried the AE renderer ... which, by the way, is buried away in the Compostition Menu under Add to Render Queue.
First, It is standard to output as a File command .. so there should be a Export / Save As ... > to the "Render Queue" .. and who cares what a 'render queue' is .. all I want to do is save file "A" in format "B".
So ... basically , my question is / are:
Why does both the PP Export and CS5 Media Encoder produce such bad results?
    and / or
What are the correct settings for PP Export and CS5 Media Encoder to produce excellent results matching the AE Render Queue?
Why do you have multiple inconsistent, confusing and dysfunctional Exporting / Saving options?
Seems that the CS5 "Media Encoder" should be junked and replaced with whatever engine is running inside the AE renderer .. and all other Export / Save / Add to Render Queue / and God knows what else you guys call it ...  should be routed to the new Media Encoder.

    Thanks again as always Todd.
I just can't get some of this ... just when I think I'm getting somewhere .. blam.
Why is there a "com.adobe.dynamiclinkmanagerCS5" in my trash ( Mac OS X ) every time I turn on the machine?
There are posts here at Adobe and one on Creative Cow Discussions .. but no one at Adobe answers.
    "Why?"
I have a huge plugin problem and yet again I will have to reinstall the system software and CS5 to get it to work long enough so I can spend time trying to figure out the vocabulary to explain to you, Apple, and CoreMelt what is going on. It seems to be within Dynamic Link.
Do you have a 12 Core Mac OS X?
Would your tech with a 12 Core Mac running OS X 10.6.6 install CoreMelt Plugin V2 - Lock & Load?
Would your tech explain to whomever needs to figure it out why / what doesn't work .. and fill in the blanks at Adobe?
Would someone explain it to me?

  • Multiple compositions into render queue with same export settings

Hi I've got 70 compositions in after effects project and I want to export all these comps at once with the same export settings.. with SHIFT CMD M I can put these comps into the render queue but then i still have to manually change all the export settings for every file! Is there a trick that I just don't know?

Edit your output module and set the desired render settings as a default. You'll find the settings under the edit menu at the bottom as a sub set of templates.

  • Another Flash export problem

I placed chapter marks in my videos in Encore, then exported to Flash.  During replay there is a pause/glitch at the chapter marks, accompanied with a brief display of teh playback controls.  So, if you want to use the Flash feature, don't include chapter marks int eh video.
Something similar happens in slide shows and Flash.  The playback controls pops up briefly each time a slide changes.
It there a way around this or do we have to wait for either an Encore or Flash update?

It looks like the pause at chapter marks is a known issue and does not seem to be considered to be a bug.

The article didn't mention anything about the playback controls popping up.

  • AE (CS6) Render Queue Messes Up Audio

So I decided to render out a file using the AE (CS6) Render Queue.  I exported audio with the video, and, well... this is what I got.
    http://vimeo.com/49931535 (password is "GG4ever")
The audio slow unsyncs, and then something happens about ten seconds in where it starts playing back audio from earlier in the project.  Uhh... what?
BTW, this is how the audio SHOULD sound (this was rendered out with AME).
    http://vimeo.com/49931533

No, the culprits were probably some programming team at Adobe (and I just love how Adobe reps never respond to threads about issues, instead leaving unpaid forum members to do their jobs); I used all 48k Stereo .wav files in my project.
Also, anyone asking about the stats of my computer, it's this: http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/laptops/NP-R580-JSB1US The only change I've made to it is I added more RAM.

  • Can't export .MOV in AE cc render queue, But I can Export .MOV using Media Encoder cc

I get “[file path and name].mov”. An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted. (-1610153464) when trying to export .mov using AE cc render queue but works fine in media Encoder cc. My problem is that i need to export animation with alpfa channel for a client and cannot find an alpha channel option in media encoder.
    Please help

To export with an alpha channel in Adobe Media Encoder, choose "32 bit" from the Depth menu under the Video tab in the export settings. (That refers to 32 bits per pixel: 8 each for R, G, B, and A.) Of course, that option is only available if the codec can include an alpha channel, such as with the Animation codec in a QuickTime container.

  • FAQ: Why doesn't AVI appear as an export format in the Render Queue?

[For information on rendering and exporting, see "Basics of rendering and exporting".]
On Windows versions of After Effects, AVI appears listed with the more comprehensive name, "Video for Windows". In fact, it's the format specified by the default Output Module template. The Format Options button will reveal the AVI/VfW codecs available on your system.
On Mac systems, AVI/Video for Windows is not available as a direct export option (except through the File > Export path, which is really not recommended). Export a lossless intermediate file from the Render Queue instead (for example, a Quicktime file). You can then use a number of converter applications (including Quicktime Pro, for example) to convert this intermediate file to an AVI file.

    Post Author: Rob Murnick
    CA Forum: .NET
I'm starting to get the opinion that it can't be done - can't find any information explaining how, anyway.  Perhaps this is because .HTML format often uses it's own folder for storing image files, etc..., and the other formats (rpt, .pdf, .xls, .doc and .rtf) simply use a file.  The "Export Report" dialog would need to be a bit more complicated to switch between saving as a file and saving a set of files in a (potentially new) folder, so I'm just going to hide the Export button on the CrystalReportViewer control, add an external "Export" button, and roll my own dialog.

  • Exporting Motion project as FLV (Flash)

Does anyone know the best way to export a project as a FLV (flash)?
If that is not possible I think it should be added with the great things you can do to the online streaming.
    What does everyone think?

I figured that would be a way, but I was wondering if it could be done straight from Motion its self. I guess I will bring it straight back to FCP to do it.
I still think having that plug in part of motion is a great way to finish up a project that will be going to the web.

  • Setting format and format options in Output module settings for render queue item

    Hello,
I am unable to set the "Format" and "Format options" for video in output module settings programatically using After effects apis.
I referred the after effects cs3 sdk guide for the apis.
I find apis for all other options in the "outputmodule settings " like :
    AEGP_SetEmbedOptions
    AEGP_SetOutputChannels
    AEGP_SetStretchInfo
    AEGP_SetSoundFormatInfo
But there is no api listed for setting the options available in the "Format" tab and "Format options" tab.
The "Format" tab and "Format options" tab is available in the dialog that opens when user clicks on the Output module settings for the render queue item.
The format tab when clicked shows a drop down list with aff different formats. By default "Video for Windows" is set.
The drop down list contains following format options
    Adobe Clip Notes
    Adobe Flash video
    Quicktime movie
    Video for Windows
I need to be able to set the "Quicktime movie" option in the Format tab programmatically and then set the compression type as "Animation" in the compression settings programatically using the api functions available in AE CS3 SDK
Please suggest the suitable api to do so.
I need to write my own plugin to export to Quicktime movie using the after effects apis.
I follow below steps to do so.
    1. AEGP_InsertMenuCommand and add export option to AE with my own plugin name
    2. In the command hook, select active item using AEGP_GetActiveItem
    3. Add it to render queue
    4. Set the output module settings for 0 th output module using
    suites.OutputModuleSuite1()
    5. Use different functions from suites.OutputModuleSuite1() to set the output module settings like EmbedOptions,StrechInfo etc.
    6. Till this step, I am doing it right. But I am not able to find any api for setting Format options using suites.OutputModuleSuite1()
I also checked all other suites available for setting FormatOptions but no luck.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    -Namita

    Hi Namita,
I am experiencing the same problem.
I am using AE CC SDK, and I am unable to change the outputmodule format to any of the other movie format types (mov, mpg, flv, etc.).
It is always set to "avi"
I even compiled and ran the Queuebert example in the SDK, and there I get the same problem: the path extension is always left on ".avi"
Does anyone know how to change this?

  • Flash Exporter vs Adobe Media Exporter

Can someone explain how After Effects chooses which exporter to use for FLVs?
I have 3 different scenarios and 3 different exporters are showing up in After Effects. I would prefer to use the Flash exporter since that one seems to give us the best results.
In CS2 on my PC when I do export FLV the Flash exporter shows up.
    http://www.geniusdv.com/weblog/archives/After%20Effects%20and%20Flash%20settings-thumb.gif
My co-worker just installed CS3 and when he does this option he gets the new Flash Exporter. But he can't use it because it says for him to use the render Queue. When he uses the render Queue the Adobe Media Exporter is used.
    http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/premiere/pro/export/images/vCS3_exportsettings-winmedia. gif
We do not like the results that the Adobe Media Exporter gives even when using the same settings. I never liked using in Premiere because I always had bad results and it seemed to crash a lot.
The last scenario is using CS3 on my MAC. When I do export FLV I am able to use the new Flash exporter. When going through the render queue I get the Adobe Media Exporter.
The best option would be the render queue with the Flash Exporter.
Can someone explain why there is not just one option? And why I can't set which one I want to use. We do have the Flash exporter installed on all three machines. Any help would be great!

Thanks for the reply Mylenium. I really don't want to go into the problems I am having with the encoded files. I am really just trying to understand why there are 2 separate exporters. I have done some more digging and apparently the Flash Exporter (FLV) is a quicktime exporter. Which is the one we would prefer to use. We are having errors with this exporter and sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't work.
We are mainly having difference in encode times and quality loss when using the Adobe Media Encoder. We are exporting projects that use screen shots (which is not what AE is for.) I do notice the difference in time when exporting video projects but I have not taken the time to compare the 2 apples to apples.
Like I said I just want to understand why we are getting errors with the FLV exporter by QT.

  • AE CS3 can't render to FLV

I have Flash CS3 purchased and installed and I'm using a trial of After Effects CS3 to try to make an FLV with cue points.
The problem is that when I add my project to the render queue, I find that the option to render to Adobe Flash FLV format is not in the drop down list.
    Can someone tell me why?

I think those are extra encoders that aren't included in the demo. Have you tried File > Export > FLV?

  • Black lines on flv/f4v export

AE CS4... I am not sure what is going on, I did not have this issue with CS3.
I am trying to export an flv or f4v (doesn't matter to me) for a web page.  My optimal output would be 400x300 square pixel from DV footage.  When I render out of AE I get black lines across the top and bottom.
I understand that flvs like 16x16 blocks so I changed my output to 400x288 but it still does it.  Then I tried to crop the extra pixels and ended up with the same thing.
What am I doing worng?  How do I get a clean flv out of AE with no black lines?
    Thanks!
    Curtis

This is something I've been battling as well.  I've ton a bunch of test renders at different settings over the last several days.  I haven't found a fix at all, but I have noticed these couple things:
If you do File/Export/FLV, the 400x300 works fine for me, no matter if I'm using CS3 or CS4.
If you want to export cue points for use with Flash, you MUST use the render queue - which means you can't simply export - which sucks.
Render queue always outputs black bars on top & bottom, unless I change it to 400x293 (instead of 400x300) but even then,
I will still get the bars in some online players.
The whole issue of PAR change from .9 to .91 is irrelevant because you can export FLV just fine, but you can't render FLV correctly.
This points to a flaw in the way the program handles "Export" vs "Render" for this particular output.  I wish they would put out a fix for this.

  • GRRRRR!!!  AE CS3 crashes during render with quicktimempeg4.qtx as problem

Rendering will advance a seemingly random amount of frames, only to crash repeatedly. The info on the error points to quicktimempeg4.qtx as problem module. I have tried an array of codec packs, as well as quicktime 7.0.3 through the latest 7.4.1 update. Memory seems to be fine as I'm running Windows XP SP2, 2.8 Ghz Duocore, 4Gb RAM. Sometimes render makes it 4 frames, 72, 205, etc., but still crashes whether .avi, .mp4 or .mov render. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks for the tips. I tried soloing about 30 of the videos for a render (with a 60 frame workspace just for testing), as suggested. Went with the QT Animation, alpha only, and it crashed after 1 second. Seriously, just instant crash. I did try render queue with an .avi export, no compression, and managed to get about 12 minutes into a decent render, but again crashes with quicktimempeg4.qtx as fault. I can export quicktime (.mov or .mp4) from Photoshop quickly and perfectly every time, no errors. So, its hard for me to think this is simply a quicktime or compatibility issue. I have had no problems whatsoever with Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, Photoshop, video conversion, etc. Occasionally with quicktime I will get a "buffer overrun detected" error when running multiple instances, but figured this was more of a memory issue. I'm totally flummoxed as this AE render error just seems to have no rhyme or reason at this point. The only unifying problem is that quicktime seems to be a problem. Although, when exporting .PSD files today, for individual screen captures on the same project, I had a crash that stated the OpenGL was to blame. So, I'll try disabling that per Jonas' suggestion. Of course any ideas are much appreciated!
