Render queue waits for FTP upload

I Googled this issue and looked it up in this forum, and surprisingly found nothing.
When using the feature for automatically uploading an exported file to an FTP server, Adobe Media Encoder renders 1 file, uploads it, and meanwhile the rest of the render queue is paused. Obviously, the upload process takes almost no CPU or RAM, so I'd expect Media Encoder to continue rendering the rest of the queue in parallel to uploading.
Am I missing somehint obvious, or a bit less obvious (some hidden setting)?
In my company's production worklow, it's very common practice to send out a long render queue and simultaneously upload the completed files. Having to wait for each upload in order for the rendering to resume seems counter intuitive, basically making the FTP feature useless.
Thanks in advance

Hi Jamal:
You can disregard the Flash alerts
Your problem is that there is no content to display except for the Flash movie which is not displaying because it has not
been uploaded to the root folder.
You are also missing the "Scripts" folder with the "swfobject_modified.js" script in it.
Go forth and upload these, and you should be OK.

    Thanks, Daniel.

Hi, Are you using FTP inside or outside of Firewall. We are facing problems in ifs uploading when the users are outside of the firewall. This problem does not exist if we are using port 21, but since this is a well know port, we choose to use something else.
May be you can share with us on how to configure IFS to enable ftp ( except port 21 ) outside of firewall.

  • Render Queue Question for After Effects CS5.5

What is the best render settings for my laptop amd-300 apu with radeon hd graphics 1.30 GHz that has 2.00 GB Ram (1.60GB Usable?) It's also 64 bit.
I am rendering some special effects with CC Mr. Mercury and CC Vector Blur. I tried using just the standard settings and it goes fine until it gets up to the CC Mr. Mercury and Vector Blur, then it slows the heck down and takes forever to finish.
In the Render Queue what type of settings should I use to make it go faster and still make the effects look good?
    Thanks Adrian

FYI, I have a zillion year old MacBook (plastic computer - remember those) that meets the minimum system requirements of an Intel processor and 2GB ram. It's old and runs CS6 just fine as long as I just do the basics and keep the preview resolution down to about 1/4. I would not try and render production work on that system because it's not up to the task and I'd never expect it to be a production machine. I do use it often when I don't want to drag an expensive machine around with me on my travels.
If you want a production machine you have to pay for it. I have a fully decked out new MBPro R that I use as my primary AE design machine but I still go to a desktop system for large projects that have to be produced on a deadline. If I were a hobbyist I'd live with what I could afford. Because I am a professional and I charge for my services I adjust my rates to pay for the gear that I need to do the job. It's simple economics. Most film makers I know have no idea of how to run a business. Most are starving most of the time. Only a few understand that doing what we talk about on this forum is either an expensive hobby or a business. If it's a business you have to learn how to run a business before you learn how to make a movie. If it's a hobby they you have to have the means to support it. It's no different than Skiing, biking, or building model airplanes. If you can't afford new gear you have to make do with what you've got.

  • Render Queue Settings for HD in AE?

I have been asking alot of questions regarding HD - see my other posts:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/428077?tstart=0
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/428858?tstart=0
    ..and I did read this:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AfterEffects/9.0/WS8FEBCF80-821A-43ad-BA00-05D522F59750.
Now what I want to know is how to render an AE project to an HD format. What are the real life pros and cons of the HD formats available for export in AE and how can I avoid the most common headaches/best practices associated with them.
For now there is no video, just shapes and graphics created from scratch in AE. example issues: Do I need a special video card? Do I need to put it on a "bluray" disk or can we go off my hard drive? It will be tested on a HD television that is hooked up to a network.I have cs4 and osx10.5 but only 2gigs of memory. I only want to render a 5 second video (this is ALL for testing - and when I "get it" I will create full videos etc) so memory shouldnt be an issue?
This is just proactive information gathering about HD in AE as it pertains to the render queue.

when im in the output module and i go to format options (this is where I am to choose "same as source" right?
Well I do that (Same as source flash 8 or higher) and thats cool. but
when I then change the bitrate to 7,000, it becomes a custom preset and
no longer reads "Same as source flash 8 or higher"...
Don't worry. When you take an existing preset as a starting point and customize even a single aspect, it's no longer the same as the original preset. But the important thing is that you used that as a starting point. In particular, the important part is that this preset makes sure AME keeps the frame size in the After Effects' Comp size, instead of asking it to change it in the Render Queue.
whats the deal with the advanced settings where "undershoot" is set to
90 and quality is set to good. Should I mess with those? I would
imagine I would want to change good to best
Don't worry about that. The presets in Adobe Media Encoder are (or should be!) designed to aknowledge that not everyone is an encoding specialist. There's no need for you to deal with every obscure parameter out there. The preset you picked is good to get HD resoltuion at web data rates, so you're only raising the data rate for that purpose. It becomes a custom preset only in the sense that it's not exactly the same as the original. The reason why there isn't a preset with a higher data rate to begin with, is because... you probably would prefer H264 encoding for that. The main reasons to avoid H264 were player compatibility (it'll be less and less an issue now that Flash supports it) and the processing power required to play it at HD resolutions.
It's important to realize that all HD content that is broadcast is
interlaced. The 24P stuff has 3:2 pulldown added for broadcast, the
progressive stuff is broadcast as pairs of identical fields which give
the illusion of being true progressive.
    This is all true, Rick.
But it can also make him (or humans in general ) feel like this is terribly complicated. Which of course it can be, but there will be plenty of time for dealing with that. In some contexts, illusion of progressive and true progressive are almost the same thing. Things like PsF (progressive segmented frames) used for this... are  progressive from the point of view of perception (even if the container is not) and also from the point of view of rendering a file from After Effects. The clever tricks come later, and they could even be somebody else's problem
All this doesn't contradict what you said in any way. Just to keep things simple, a 29.97 fps 1080 file rendered without fields can be a production master. And certainly can be used for testing on an HDTV.

  • Itune connect stuck on waiting for application upload

    hello
after one waiting for my app review it was rejected because it had iTouch on its name
now i have changed the name, updated metadata, and created new binary
but i don´t have any way of uploading it now
the button to update binary that appeared after being rejected is now gone
i tried to use application loader and it reports upload success but on the app status keeps showing waiting for upload
i am getting crazy with this...
so much bureaucracy and lack of communication keeps me too away from developing that is what i was supposed to be doing

agreed. Apple's developer support for iPhone app writers have been a joke, My app has been going through the hoops in itunes connect, but i never know if there is something i should be doing to get it further. The least they could do is have a simple FAQ which explains what you need to do for each step and how long the overall process is expected to take.
[email protected] is worthless too and never replies. Cmon guys, i need something more than the automated response.

  • Iweb not showing online for FTP upload

I use Iweb all the time building sites for small business.
Recently it has started to comeback with a "internet not online message"  when I want to upload files to a FTP server.  FYI the same server I have loaded over 40 sites to.  I then have to publish to a folder and upload through Rage SEO Tool.  Which yes works fine but I am concerned there is a creeping corruption in the software.  I do not want to reload the software as I do not have to rebuild all my site again.  I use 3.04.  and use 10.6.8 OSX.
I have Dreamweaver, Worpress, Sandvox, Coffe Cup software.   Iweb is the simplest and the best for what work I do. It has some of the features of the old Adobe Golive. All the others are cumbersome.  I have some site  in Iweb with over 80 pages.
Finally why is Apple going to make me end up buying another company's software to do similar work like Adobe Muse???
    Cheers,  Dean

I do not want to reload the software as I do not have to rebuild all my site again.  I use 3.04.  and use 10.6.8 OSX.
His profile is out of date.  I think he should reset his ftp info in iWeb and try again.

  • Reports job in queue waiting for the others

Hi, I have a problem with my Reports, I have created a reports cluster and increased the engine number, but anyway once I send two jobs the second job waits until the first job is completed.
Any idea, If I'll have 20 users the last user has to wait 10 min to get his report printed.

    Hi,
Reports Server can have multiple engines. If one engine is busy, the job can be forwarded to the other engine. You can control the number of engines with this element in the Reports Server configurtion file:
    <engine id="rwEng" class="oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl" initEngine="1" maxEngine="1" minEngine="0" engLife="50" maxIdle="30" callbackTimeOut="60000">
You can increase the maxEngine attribute to 2.
But be careful with the number of engines. A very large number of engines may also bring down the performance by consuming more memory.

  • FAQ: Why doesn't AVI appear as an export format in the Render Queue?

[For information on rendering and exporting, see "Basics of rendering and exporting".]
On Windows versions of After Effects, AVI appears listed with the more comprehensive name, "Video for Windows". In fact, it's the format specified by the default Output Module template. The Format Options button will reveal the AVI/VfW codecs available on your system.
On Mac systems, AVI/Video for Windows is not available as a direct export option (except through the File > Export path, which is really not recommended). Export a lossless intermediate file from the Render Queue instead (for example, a Quicktime file). You can then use a number of converter applications (including Quicktime Pro, for example) to convert this intermediate file to an AVI file.

    Post Author: Rob Murnick
    CA Forum: .NET
I'm starting to get the opinion that it can't be done - can't find any information explaining how, anyway.  Perhaps this is because .HTML format often uses it's own folder for storing image files, etc..., and the other formats (rpt, .pdf, .xls, .doc and .rtf) simply use a file.  The "Export Report" dialog would need to be a bit more complicated to switch between saving as a file and saving a set of files in a (potentially new) folder, so I'm just going to hide the Export button on the CrystalReportViewer control, add an external "Export" button, and roll my own dialog.

  • Multiprocessing works for RAM preview, extremely slow and aeselflink crashes when in Render Queue

    Hello all,
    System specs:
    Hackintosh
    OSX 10.9
    3.5Ghz (overclocked to 4.2Ghz) Core i7
Geforce GTX 580 classified 3GB Cuda GPU
AMD Radeon HD 6870 1GB Display GPU
    32 GB of RAM
    System SSD
    5 drive internal RAID
    After Effects CC 12.2.1.5
    Cuda drivers up to date
I'm having a problem with the render queue and multiprocessing. I have a moderate sequence with several effects and 3D layers. When I'm working in the composition, everything goes great. I can RAM preview and all my CPU cores will kick up to 100% and render the composition in no time all; with full resolution with no skipped frames. It works fantastically.
Then when I go to render the exact same composition with the same multiprocessing settings, AE will hang at the "initializing background processes" for at least 5-10 minutes, during which the CPU will ramp up to 100% but no frames will be rendered. AE still remains responsive, as I can hit the stop or pause buttons and the queue will be cancled. But then the aeselflink processes (up to 8 of them depending on my settings, I've tried several) will still continue at 100% cpu load even with AE not set to render anything. I will have to go into the activity monitor and force quit each process. If I leave it for 5-10 minutes, it will finally stop initalizing and start the render, but the CPU will still run at 100% but the frames will crawl slowly forward at about 1 frame per minute, with an estimated 28 hours to render frames that were rendering in under a minute during RAM preview.
I have tried both reducing the number of cores AE will use, adjusting the allocated RAM, and disabling multiprocessing alltogether. When I disable multiprocessing, the render slows to a complete crawl, and it will render around 1 frame every 5-10 seconds. Again, this is on a composition that rendered in less than a minute on full resolution with RAM preview.
The only way to get this composition to render is to export it to Media Encoder, which will render it (without multicore processing, unfortunately) in about 8 minutes, still not the blazing fast RAM preview but at least it finishes it in under 3.5 hours (the amount of time that the multiprocessing disabled render in AE will take).
Here's the multiprocessing settings that have been very stable and carried me through other projects. Disk Cache is not enabled. The only other thing that is disabled is the "Disable Layer Cache" under the Secret menu as the plugins I'm using (Plexus 2 in this case) doesn't like to update when the camera moves so this option has been disabled to force it to reset each frame.
Does anyone know what is going on?
Also, please don't tell me that I should not use multiprocessing or instruct me on basic steps as to increase preformance on my machine. I have been tweaking my memory and multiprocessing settings for a long time now, and it is completely stable in everything but this setup. So please no answers saying "just don't use multiprocessing". It was made for a reason, it's effective, and it's needed. And please don't say that it's the hackintosh, either, as it's the most stable and powerful computer I've ever used. Sorry for the disclaimers, I just want to have constructive help.
Thank you in advance for your ideas!

Hi Rick, not sure if you saw the part where I said please don't reply with turning off Multiprocessing, and I did not say that it works and is effective in all areas. However, if you actally take the time to read my post, you will definately notice that RAM preview with multiprocessing takes under a minute to render a scene. Multiprocessing disabled and rendered in AE takes 3.5 hours. In Media Encoder it takes around 8 minutes. Clearly it IS working and IS effective for my case and my rig. Any vendettas against MP does not help my situation at all.

  • Setting format and format options in Output module settings for render queue item

    Hello,
I am unable to set the "Format" and "Format options" for video in output module settings programatically using After effects apis.
I referred the after effects cs3 sdk guide for the apis.
I find apis for all other options in the "outputmodule settings " like :
    AEGP_SetEmbedOptions
    AEGP_SetOutputChannels
    AEGP_SetStretchInfo
    AEGP_SetSoundFormatInfo
But there is no api listed for setting the options available in the "Format" tab and "Format options" tab.
The "Format" tab and "Format options" tab is available in the dialog that opens when user clicks on the Output module settings for the render queue item.
The format tab when clicked shows a drop down list with aff different formats. By default "Video for Windows" is set.
The drop down list contains following format options
    Adobe Clip Notes
    Adobe Flash video
    Quicktime movie
    Video for Windows
I need to be able to set the "Quicktime movie" option in the Format tab programmatically and then set the compression type as "Animation" in the compression settings programatically using the api functions available in AE CS3 SDK
Please suggest the suitable api to do so.
I need to write my own plugin to export to Quicktime movie using the after effects apis.
I follow below steps to do so.
    1. AEGP_InsertMenuCommand and add export option to AE with my own plugin name
    2. In the command hook, select active item using AEGP_GetActiveItem
    3. Add it to render queue
    4. Set the output module settings for 0 th output module using
    suites.OutputModuleSuite1()
    5. Use different functions from suites.OutputModuleSuite1() to set the output module settings like EmbedOptions,StrechInfo etc.
    6. Till this step, I am doing it right. But I am not able to find any api for setting Format options using suites.OutputModuleSuite1()
I also checked all other suites available for setting FormatOptions but no luck.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    -Namita

    Hi Namita,
I am experiencing the same problem.
I am using AE CC SDK, and I am unable to change the outputmodule format to any of the other movie format types (mov, mpg, flv, etc.).
It is always set to "avi"
I even compiled and ran the Queuebert example in the SDK, and there I get the same problem: the path extension is always left on ".avi"
Does anyone know how to change this?

  • Hi i have been lucky enough to take delivery of the Nikon D810 but am unable to upload the raw images into LR5 or Photoshop CC 2014 is this just a matter of waiting for a new version of ACR ??  Thanks

Hi i have been lucky enough to take delivery of the Nikon D810 but am unable to upload NEF files into LR5 or Photoshop CC 2014 is this just a matter of waiting for the next version of ACR ???

What version of Camera Raw do you have?  Do Help - About Plug-in... - Camera Raw to see.
If it's not 8.5, which is the latest current release as of this writing, you might want to look this over:  Camera Raw updates cannot be applied
Just looking over the list here - Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras - I don't see the D810 listed at all.  Maybe that page isn't updated or maybe the camera is newer than even the newest Camera Raw release, in which case you'll have to wait for Camera Raw 8.6.  Note that Adobe often releases beta versions early so the wait may not be that long...
