Hi there,
I recently purchased an MSi gaming notebook with nVidia GTX 860M graphics. However, just recently I've been having game-breaking issues with textures rendering, artifacts and particles as well as the drivers crashing now and again(desktop flashing and flickering).
I've only had this laptop for just over two months and am quite disappointed with issues coming up already.
To get to the specifics; I have recently been playing through the Mass Effect trilogy and, just the other day, started up a file in Skyrim. The following screenshots show my biggest issues aside from the obviously serious driver crashing issues. I believe the issues started maybe a month into owning this laptop and since it has been getting progressively worse. I feel as though I have been all over the internet trying to find a fix to this, I've tried everything suggested, everything that I could think of, and I am just about ready to have it sent back. I was hoping someone may have some other options before I do send it in.

On the title screen for Mass Effect 3 I get these consistent blue and red glowing orbs, they also occur on several other maps within gameplay.

Once I get in-game, this occurs everywhere. Textures "expanding" off of characters into random points.

This happens occassionally on characters; ridiculously shadowed faces to the point where they are barely recognisable.

On almost all wall textures there are white glowing particles like the ones behind the character here. In extreme cases, the wall becomes a texture of textures. All of the textures in the game are miniaturized into a wall of textures on certain objects.
I've also had signs and the game's menus and interface stretched and skewed all over the place. If I continue to play it with the above issues, the game eventually hangs and I have to alt+tab out and back in, or close it using the task manager. All of these issues also occur in Skyrim and any game using the same, or similar, engines. The only game I have been able to play almost seamlessly without any issues is Ragnarok Online 2, an online MMORPG.
I have tried the following:
nVidia's GeForce Control Panel: any and all combination of options.
Re-installing video drivers.
Re-installing DirectX and PhysX.
Formatting and a fresh install of Windows and all games and drivers.
Any other troubleshooting other forums have provided.
Removing the pagefile for virtual memory limits.
Using Intel HD graphics to test for other issues.
PC/nVidia power settings.
The one time I thought it may be fixed, all it took was me plugging in my laptop to cause the issues all over again. I've tried downloading MSi Afterburner to check GPU temperatures and I rarely even go over 65~70. I'm absolutely out of ideas. It was suggested to me by a family member that it may be a hardware issue, hence the consideration for sending it in.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit
nVidia GeForce GTX 860M
Intel Core i7-4710HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz
12GB of RAM
Any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated. I would really rather not have to send it back. I've also posted this over at the nVidia forums because I'm -hoping- it's a software issue.

It wouldn't be a hardware issue since you can play other games without problem.
Easiest way to tell if it's a hardware issue or not is to run the benchmark tool for example 3DMark 11 and see if the problem also happens during the benchmark.
For the rendering problem you were talking, please provide not only the problem picture but also the picture without problem to let us make the comparison.
I'm sorry to say, but some of the picture I'm not really getting what the problem you're talking about.

I'd suggest to post the issue on EA, steam or obioware and see if there are people looking into it.

Lenovo y 50 gtx 860m graphic card problem

Hi,
I recently bought y50.. it performed well for 4 or 5 weeks. But when I try to update nvidia driver ,it fails mentioning that suitable card is not found. But I can see the card under device manager. Then I uninstall everything related to nvidia and installed newest drivers frm nvidia web site. But no luck. Gforce experience software says that gpu is unknown.
I updated bios.
Did a system recovery
reinstall another copy of Windows and installed newest Intel and nvidia drivers
But the problem persists. Some times graphic card shows up in device manager. But when installing the driver blue screen appears saying video_dxgkrnl_fatal_error.
My system is
Gtx 860m 2gb
8gb ra
Intel core I 7 4720
Is it a hardware problem or a software problems..

I tried last week. The best I could get was a discount on the repair, but the damage to my logic board by the GPU caused it to no longer boot. The program ended in December last year, but it has been extended in the past.
If you have no other damage you might be able to get a flat rate tier 1 repair if you are in the USA.

It's a little late for me to jump into your discussion, I only read it when I posted an issue with the same model.
Well, I hope you got it fixed soon enough in 2012, because as I learned in the past few days after purchasing that model and reading up on the issues, Apple stopped the care for this fault on December 7th or so in 2012.
Seeing that people still get problems due to that graphics card, I should try to return the used one I just bought. I might run well now, but who knows how long.

This laptop I am on right vnow has a n nVidai GTX 765M and it works beautifully on Premiere CS6, CC and CC 2014. You do have to add it to the Adobe file "cuda_supported_cards.txt file or simp[ly delete it. I hope you know that you have to be plugged in to the AC line to successfully what to edit with a laptop. Also you can improve the GPU performance if you reset the memory clock on the GPU to 1500 MHz from the default 1000 MHz. It is because nVidia.slows down the clock to conserve battery. Lighting effects filter not available on PScc - using windows 8.1 with GeForce GTX 680 graphics card

I have Photoshop cc and Lightroom 5.5. My computer runs windows 8.1, 64 bit, with GeForce GTX 680 graphics card.
I am trying to use the lighting effects filter, but it is grayed out so I cannot select it.
Can you tell me what I need to change in order to use the lighting effects filter?

This is the Lightroom forum. I don't use the lighting effects very often in Photoshop. But if I recall correctly, it will only work on 8-bit images.

Way to stop NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT graphics card from running?

I have 2 graphics cards in my Power Mac G5, one is a NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT graphics card which i believe came with it, the other is a NVIDIA GeForce 6600. The problem I have is that the NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GT card makes a horrible fan noise, and I am looking for a way to unplug it, or cut it off from the power supply safely. Any advise is welcome.

Keep in mind that video cards have an extra tab at the tail end so don't forget to gently push the tab to the side.
The video card fans typically plug into power pins on the video card so removal of the card will expose the connection. Otherwise, just follow the fan power leads.

I am running Photoshop CC 2014 on Windows 8.1 with an AMD quad core processor and AMD E1-2100 APU with AMD Radeon HD 8210 Graphics Card. I have installed the latest driver version 13.152.0.0. When I activate puppet warp, the mesh appears over the image and I can place the first pin. However, when I go to add the second pin, Photoshop crashes. I have tried with on a new, blank file, with just a few lines on it, but, as soon as I place the first pin, the image disappears, and then, as soon as I click anywhere else in the image, Photoshop crashes. I have followed all the online advice about settings under the Preferences/Performance interface, but nothing fixes the problem. Can anyone please help?

I have an early '08 iMac with a GeForce 8800 GS graphics card. Can I update my card with a newer, better updated one? Would like to play Battlefield 3 and others. If so, can I replace it myself or should Apple do it after I buy it from OWC.

Apple will not install a non-Apple product in your iMac. Maybe an Apple Authorized Service Provider might.
Some models have replaceable video cards, but updating with a newer one will require much research, (my guess is that this is not possible, as connectors and circuitry aren't standardized).

Installed Geforce GTX 650 graphics card, but monitors won't turn on

I have installed a geforce gtx 650 graphics card in my hp pavilion and a corsair hx750 power supply, but after installing it and trying to get it to work the monitor won't detect any signal from the dvi plugs. I've tried looking up the problem before, and I think it is because the hp pavilion is an AMD, so it is locking out any new hardware in the computer, but after uninstalling everything and putting the original power supply back in, the monitors still won't get signal. Seeing as how the nvidia GTX 760 is a graphics card for the PCIe bus structure which the MBP does not have, I think you chances of getting Apple to do that are right up there with the snowball in you know where.
