Rendered file has no video

I have an uncompressed :30 quicktime file that I brought into FCE 3.5.1.
It plays fine in the viewer but needs to be rendered to be seen in the canvas. The only problem is, once rendered, the video is gone. The screen is all black. The audio is still there. Then if I export the file, the video is still all black.
I can open the uncompressed file in quicktime pro, then export it using the dv/dvcpro codec, which seems to be the same thing the rendering process would be doing.
Anybody have any thoughts? Why can't FCE handle the render correctly? Please help...

Start off by opening it in QT player and seeing exactly what it says about the files. Are these files actually in the None codec, or is something else listed in info in the QT player?

MOV is a wrapper that can contain many different codecs. The message you get is indicative of a distribution codec inside the MOV wrapper. You may need to convert the material to an editable codec before importing.

  • .mov file has no video - playing it in Quick Time 7 on Windows XP. Help!

I work for a law firm and we received a CD which contains a .mov file. When we try to play it in Quick Time, it plays the audio, but NO video. We are trying to play it is Quick Time (version 7.7.1) on a Windows XP Pro PC. When Quick Time first opened, it gave a message saying "Additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media. It may be available from the Quick Time Components page." I clicked Continue and it took me to the Components page, but it lists like 10 different components and I have no idea what we need. Can anyone provide any input as to what might be missing? Is it a CODEC? I have tried converting it to a different format usinig two different softwares and have gotten errors.

  • 1 Movie file has video track for appletv & 1 for iphone

Does anyone know how when you purchase a movie on itunes in HD, you get a beautiful HD movie to watch on your AppleTV that is a fairly large file, but when you choose to sync it to your iphone the movie file is MUCH smaller, made just for the iphone. There are not two files, so I assume the file has 2 video tracks in it and syncing just extracts the smaller file. Any one have insight on this? I'm ripping my own movies and want to create the same thing. Once file with a HD track and an iphone track.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
When you purchase HD files from itunes you DO get two files.
Quicktime can create multi tracked files but I don't believe they will play on the tv or the ipod. Neither device to my knowledge supports sprites

  • PE12 - "Deleting Rendered Files" Confusion...

Thanks in advance for any assistance from anybody!
If i click on "Delete Rendered Files For All Projects"...does that delete rendered files even to the point of deleting my final video creations that i have "saved" or "saved as" in the program itself???
In other words do i run the risk of losing the videos i've created in PE12 if i proceed with a "Delete Rendered Files For All Projects" command???
Why are rendered files even kept and consume computer memory...i thought it was only a procedure to catch up with itself and make the video you are working on play more smoothly.
    Many thanks again...

You are correct is saying that rendered files make the video play more smoothly.
Rendered files are preview files, when you edit a portion of your timeline(like apply effect, transition, etc.) you will see a somewhat jerky and blurry playback, to have a look at how your final video will look and play you can render only a small portion by setting the workbar area over that area. It will obviously take less time than exporting the whole video every time you make an edit.

  • .Mov files in CC : The File Has no Audio or Video Streams

I recently updated premier to CC , since i have issues iimporting any .mov files at all.
The specific ones Im trying for my current project are exports from AE , rendered lossless animation .mov , worked fine in CS6 , will play in quicktime and other generic's but always getting the The FIle Has no Audio or Video Streams message when trying to import into a project.
Quicktime is updated so I can't understand why the won't play, is this a CC bug ?
i go back to cs6 on my other comp they open fine...
Ive seen a few topics on this none with a resolution and most of those where from cam's, this is an export from AE, anyone able to help this is stopping me from working atm ......

I can verify that Apple screen recordings without audio do not import into any Adobe premeier.
Details on screen recording from Gspot v2.70a:
    H.264
    qt  : Apple QuickTime (.MOV/QT)
    File Type: QuickTime (.MOV)
    Mime Type: video/quicktime
    Len: 1:03.083
    Frms: 1,521
    Qf: 0.153
    Frames/s: 20.000
    wx: 1280 x 800
    sar: 1.600 (8:5)
However Apple (MAC OSX) screen recordings WITH audio will import.
I would think this should be fixable with hotfixes...
If you (adobe staff) have access to macbook pros 2012 or 2013 models, open quick time pro, do a screen recording, make sure no audio is recording, just your screen movements.. then export to 1080p video (mov is only option).. then on a windows PC try to import that file into adobe premiere. The file will play perfectly fine natively in windows with any player so long as a H264 decoder is available on that system... the problem here is Adobe Premiere. Not the users system.
    Edit:
To help those with this issue.. just make sure when you render your mov that you have ANY kind of audio in it.. and just remove the audio track once imported into premiere. I know it's frustrating and you would think something as simple as not having an audio track wouldn't break premiere but alas... we have to work around the shortcomings until they decide to fix it.. just like the VFR issue in premiere.

  • After exporting to quicktime file, the file has sound but no video, what am I doing wrong?

after exporting to quicktime file, the file has sound but no video, what am I doing wrong?  The self contained movie box is not checked.

    Hi
Did You go via Compressor ?
Did You use QuickTime Conversion ?
    I don't
    I do
    • In TimeLine set In and Out-Points to the full Movie/Project
    • Select ALL - Clips and Audio
    • Go up to Sequence and down to Render Only - down to Mix Down Audio
    • then Sequense and Render Selected - Both (Video and Audio)
    • then Export and as QuickTime .mov (NOTHING ELSE)
    • I use to do - Not Self-Contained as it saves both time and space
Your Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk - Needs lot's of free space to work OK - I never go under 25Gb free space on this one,

  • Why can't I File-export-render video into a mpeg 4 rendering into a small .mov file format in cs6?

I create short videos using the PS frame animation panel. I used to be able to FILE-export-render video- and choose MPEG-4 Video in the settings panel which would render my file into a small .mov file. Now in CS6 the new render video panel does not have that option. I tried the QT options in the export window and my file is hugh! The H.264 option gives me an .mp4. I put the .mp4 into my web page via Dreamweaver and my video does not play when uploaded into the sever. The video plays fine in Dreamweaver before I upload to the server. After I upload to the server I just get a Q and no video on my web page.  If I render the same file in CS5 I am able to view it in my web page. • 'File has no audio or video streaming' error -- I have codecs!

    Hi!
I really hope someone can help me!
I am trying to import MOV files into Premiere CS5 (latest version, just downloaded last week) and I get the error message "file has no audio or video streaming.'
I can open these files just fine in Final Cut Pro X (which I hate, so hence why I am back on Premiere).
I already downloaded Quicktime 7, and the Quicktime Pro Codecs here (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1396). When I tried to install those codecs, I got an error saying there is a newer version of the codecs installed on my machine.
    My info:
    Mac OS 10.6.8
    Quicktime 10
(I read you also needed to download Quicktime 7 for some codecs. I did that, but it didn't help.)
    Premiere CS5.5 (Trial)*
*I read the old trial did not allow you to import MOVs, but that the new trial does not have an issue -- so I'm at a loss as to what to do.

  • Import mov error.  "The file has no audio or video stream".

Very interesting.   Would this also explain why i was previously able to import some high def files I downloaded and after the reformat of my computer and reload of cs5.5, I'm now not able to use those files?  It's very strange.  I did a project, used the high def mov files and it came out great.  After a mandatory reformat and reload, now the file doesn't want to import into premier.  Error message was... "this file has no audio or video stream"... yet they play fine in media player, and one of the files works, but not the rest. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.  Mark

    Mark,
    Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, you have posted to the Premiere Elements Tips & Tricks sub-forum, which is a repository for articles on how to do things in PrElements.
Maybe our MOD, Steve Grisetti, will move this out to the Premiere Pro CS 5 & CS 5.5 forum, where you will get more replies.
After the reformat, did you install Apple's QT Player? If so, what version.
What is the CODEC in those MOV files? That can be very important, but the very later versions of QT Player should install most of the popular CODEC's, that one sees in MOV, MP4, MTS, etc. files.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

I encountered a similar problem.  I had quicktime files that would play in the quicktime player from the desktop, but wouldn't import the files "the file has no audio or video streams".  I had just reinstalled quicktime, and Premier with no change.  Finally realized that we had Barracuda protection that was at fault.  It was preventing communication to the quicktime codec and thus Premier could not interpret the footage.  Another symptom, I would also launch After Effects and it would tell me that quicktime wasn't installed.
I solved this by uninstalling Barracuda.  We reported the fault to Barracuda, and have not seen any change in the software.

Trash preferences. Switch off background rendering. Trash project and event render files. Do not render. Export. Do not do anything on the computer during export. Make sure App Nap is switched off in the Finder.
