  • Cc 2014: rendering H.264 crashes

AfterFXcc 2014: rendering H.264 crashes at ~1 second. Even with a fresh project and no layers.

    NVIDIA Quadro K5000 / RAM      4.0GB

I know the setting is in there to render h264 out of AE, but it is very inefficient. After Effects renders a frame at a time and adds it to the end of a movie. h264 encoding looks at blocks of video an determines the areas that can be discarded. This helps the final product maintain a smaller file size. Rendering h.264 straight out of AE won't give you the smallest file size or the best results.
My recommendation is to either render out a high resolution movie and then encode it to h.264 using Adobe Media Encoder, Episode, or ffmpeg. If you are just looking to save a step, you might try rendering the the video using the h.264 settings in Adobe Media Encoder.

  • H264 file crashes CC 2014 but not CC?

I have some screen capture video files that load/import fine in premiere pro cc but crash cc 2014 whenever I try to load or import them. This is happening with the two CC applications on the same computer system, so nothing is changing but the app. I can open an empty CC project, import these files in any manner successfully and work with them, then open an empty CC 2014 project, attempt to import any one of these files and the application crashes every time, whether the import is by dragging the file into the project, using the import menu, or by having the clip already exist in the project and attempting to link the media. Been this way consistently since I upgraded to CC 2014 a few months ago.
The files have non-standard FPS such as 12, 10, etc., which could be the problem, but the question remains why ok in CC but not CC 2014?
    They're all H.264, 640x480, AAC audio.
This is currently the only problem in CC 2014 on this system, even with a large project with over 14,000 items of various origin, so everything else seems to be working fine.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks.

Thanks for posting that info.  This mirrors the issues I'm seeing with DSLR footage.
It's so hit or miss if it's going to flicker.  I'll delete renders and re-render and certain clips will be fine, others are now flickering.  I tried to make a test project that demonstrated this issue, but couldn't reproduce the effect.  RGB Curves and Three Way CC are in my list of effects, as well, where I see the issue.
Just curious, is anyone else working on projects started in other versions/computers?  I've seen it on project started in PPro CC and finished in CC'14.  Saw it again on a project started on Mac in FCP7, converted to CC'14 Win7.  Quite honestly, I haven't been starting projects myself in CC'14 because of the flicker issues.
As a workaround, I was hoping to import the CC'14 project back into CC or Media Encoder CC, but no luck there.
Another issue I've had with CC'14 includes converting a CC project to CC'14, giving it to a CC'14 Mac user and the A/V sync is lost.  We abandoned that collaboration all together because of the issues.  CC'14 has been incredibly unproductive to my workflow, despite the great interface update and various other features added.  I haven't had mystery issues like this since CS4.  I'm keeping our post team in CC as much as possible until the issues are resolved.

  • After rendering a movie, the DVD project screen doesn't display

    Q. After rendering a movie, my DVD project screen won't display?

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Sorry to hear about your mishap.
Do you have a backup using desktop manager? If so, your data is in there. Had you recently sync'd with outlook?
Did water get into your BB? If so, place your BB in an open container of UNCOOKED white rice and set in a warm place for a few days. Rice should absorb the water.

  • I Movie crashing during export

I've been trying to make a movie and every time I try to export it my I Movie crashes! First I thought it was because my hard disk was too full, but I have over 30 GB on it and the problem still continues. I can make short clips just fine, but 30 min and up is a problem. Please help!

    A couple suggestions...
Can you tell what format and codec you've chosen? (e.g. QuickTime movie with H.264)
does changing this to something else work?
Does the problem occur only on one project or multiple different ones? What about a new project with just a simple video clip (no titles, transitions, audio...)?
Have you made large movies before or never been able to?

  • When rendering IDVD just crashes.

    Hello All.
I have been trying to put a few iphoto slideshows and trailers on idvd.
I have tried sharing my iphoto slideshows to idvd and while rendering it just crashes.
I have tried several different times. I'm using the newest idvd in ilife 11.
I have also created two different idvd projects and it still fails.
It tells me nothing just crashes.
    Thanks
    Al

That should be enough for small projects.
What do you mean by 'crashes'? Does it appear to freeze? What?
Rather than burning to writable media, make tour 'burn' to a disk image file (an option under FILE in iDVD). This separates the encoding process from the burning process. Try this and let us know if it works.

  • Premiere Pro CC with updates or move to CC 2014?

Merry Christmas to all of you!
I'm using Premiere Pro CC and have not yet used any updates. CC has got a lot of problems: in multi-camera you always face synchronization problems, in exporting some effects like Basic 3D you loose sometimes part of a picture, it always rebuilds the sound media caches time & again (conform process) and...
So to solve this, would it be better to use the updates available for CC or to move to CC 2014? I'm not working on the net.
    Thanks, Jim.

    Hi Jim,
I'm really glad about your answer and now I'm sure that I had been a little bit too sensitive, no wonder in this days. Let's go back to your question. I was sure with my link from above I could give you a good decision aid. You will find there a really good discussion and an interesting controversial debate.
But as I said above, I prefer working with CC, all my 2014 products I replaced with CC if they are offered.
And now here it's time to go to bed! Gute Nacht, bis morgen vielleicht.

  • Movie crashed how do i get it back?

Wathching a rental movie crashes half way though - then can't find downloads in settings menu....

If you are using version 9.09 check in your iMovie projects folder in your Movies folder and see if the project is there. If your version is 10.0.2 then select your iMovie Library and right/control click on it and select show package contents. Check to see if the project is there. If no success then use time machine to restore.

  • I-Movie CRASHES directly after ANY import

    ok so
anytime i try and import a movie file of any kind, or footage off of a camera i movie crashes.
the import will occur but as soon as it reaches the end, BANG, bye bye i movie
this originally happened with Imoive HD, but i got myself the newest version and and it still crashes.
Not only imovie but Toast crashes when i try and import a movie.
i have also deleted quicktime and downloaded the newest verion but its still does the bad
HELP MEEE!!!! MOVIES ARE MY LIFE!!! IM SO DEPRESSED ETC ETC ETC

OH YES. PLENTY OF SPACE. LIKE 23 GIG
theres something wrong with quicktime i think but
like, gah. i have no freakn idea. and silly apple
actually charge to fix their own muss ups
23 GB may not be enough depending on your movie.
    Try deleting the preference files:
    Quit iMovie.
Locate a file named com.apple.iMovie.plist and get rid of it. iMovie will create a new one the next time it runs. Empty the trash and run a permissions repair from the Disk Utility folder.
    The files are located here:
    -->/Users/YourName**/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iMovie.plist

  • Error rendering H264 MOV in AE CC 2014

I'm having trouble rendering Quicktime H264 MOV files in both AE and AME.The rendering fails and the error message in AE says, "Rendering error while writing file... An output module failed. The file may be damaged or corrupted (-1610153464)", and in AME, the render fails and the log says Encoding failed, unknown error. I've read online (can't find it now) that computers with a high core count will have trouble rendering Quicktime H264, and sometimes setting the Memory & Multiprocessing prefs to allow less cores will work, but I tried that and it didn't work. My computer has 36 cores, Has anyone had this issue and been able to solve it? Thank you for your help in advance!

Thank you for your reply, Dave. I went to the link and went down the list to fill in information:
After Effects CC 2014.2, Version 13.2.0.49, All recent updates installed.
    Quicktime Player 7.7.6 (1680.95.31)
    Windows 7 Professional, SP 1
    Xeon E5-2699v3 18-core x 2
    64 GB RAM
    64-bit OS
    NVIDIA K5200 driver version 341.05
2 internal SSD and 1 internal RAID 0
    No third party hardware
    No other software running
    No third party codecs
Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously is checked
    Not using Ray-traced 3D renderer
    Render Settings at Best, Full
    Output Module:
    Format: Quicktime
Video Output: RGB, Millions of Colors, Premultiplied (Matted)
Format Options: Codec: H.264, Quality 100
Rendering Quicktime H264 has never worked for me on this computer, I always have this problem.
    Exact Error Message in AE:
After Effects error: Rendering error while writing to file:"<filepath>". An output module failed. The file may be damage or corrupted. (-1610153464)
    Exact Error log in AME:
    - Encoding Time: 00:00:20
    12/24/2014 09:49:27 PM : Encoding Failed
    Export Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
    - Encoding Time: 00:00:00
    12/24/2014 11:28:28 PM : Encoding Failed
    Export Error
    Error compiling movie.
    Unknown error.
I'm able to render out the same file to other formats, such as Quicktime Animation, so no problem with the particular file. This problem is with all AE files.
Please let me know if anything is missing that would help. Thank you again.

  • Import rendering mov = Crash

Same problem here but in Premiere CC. Premiere crashes when importing a MOV.
    Please solve this issue ASAP!

What I do is actually easy. I drag and drop the movie from Finder into Premiere. It appears in the list and as soon as Premiere opens it (automatically) in the source panel, it crashes.

  • Slow rendering in After Effects CC 2014

I'm using Adobe After Effects CC 2014.02 on a Macbook pro with 10.9.3 OSX installed.
I need to render a composition that is 3 minutes long, without any special effects or video. It's just a 500 mb Photoshop file with some movements. This takes anywhere from 7 to 30 hours to render. I rendered a similar composition before and this only lasted 20 minutes. Rendering it at a third of the quality only takes a couple of minutes, so the 7 to 30 hours seem excessive.
    These are the memory settings:
    Installed RAM: 16,00 GB
    Current RAM Usage: 9,64 GB
    Allowed RAM Usage: 11,00 GB
    Process ID
    Application Name
    Min Needed Memory
    Max Usable Memory
    Max Allowed Memory
    Current Memory
    Current Priority
    1105
    After Effects
    0,40
    16,00
    11,00
    9,64
    1 - High
Tried clearing disk and media cache, boosting RAM and installed CUDA, but nothing worked. What could be the problem?

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB graphics
The time it takes to render is the same in CC. Flattening the file in Photoshop is not an option, since I need all the different layers.
The strange thing is that the first video I made using After Effects rendered fine, while the second one (and the third I'm working on now) are not. So I would think my computer is capable of doing this and it has to be something to do with a setting somewhere. Also, I sent someone on a Windows computer the files and the composition rendered within 20 minutes.
