Rendering Freeze in PE 8

I can' figure out why Premiere Elements will freeze/hang after a while after asking it to render a bunch of clips.   On the last run, it processed about 1/3 of the frames I had asked (~48000), then hung.
This is 27 minutes of video taken from a Canon vixia HF200 camera (set to SP image mode).
I'm running on a dell Precision 380 workstation (3.20 GHz).  4 gig memory.  Win XP 32 bit and all service packs are installed.
I've tried checking most of the suggestions at: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/514/cpsid_51427.html
Most important things I did were increase the systems paging file system size.
I do still have PE 7 installed.
Overall memory use by the program seems OK (<500 MB).
I've disabled hardware acceleration of my graphics card (NVIDIA Quadro NVS 285), and also did an update of the driver.
I'm stumped.
Cheers!
Craig

Craig,
Glad that things are working for you now, and thanks for reporting. What often happens with technology is that the software developers work to add more power, by utilizing aspects of certain cards (also instruction sets, and the like), but then these features are not supported by previous cards, or not well. It becomes a vicious cycle for some users, as they are then forced to buy a new card (or CPU with the instruction sets).
I'm facing just this with PrPro CS5. It will be 64-bit only. My workstation is running beautifully on XP-Pro (32-bit), but will be useless to me with CS5. The hardware was state-of-the-art not THAT long ago, and it's still very powerful, however not ready for smooth 64-bit OS usage, so I'll be relegating it to my workstation #2 status, just for PrPro CS2, and only SD material. I have a tear in my eye, as this machine has an nVidia Quadro FX 4500, which cost me a bunch and performs very well. I could migrate it to the new box, but it does not, and will not, support some of the newer GPU utilization, especially the Mercury playback engine, even though some lesser nVidia cards can be adapted. If I want the biggest bang, it will cost plenty of $, but that is the price for technological advances. At least by the time that I get the $, Win7 SP-1 should be out.
Hey, I remember when I had to trade in my hot-rod 286 for my first 486. Equipment is great, until you open the box, and find that everything has been replaced by newer and better... good on one hand, but for the owner, not so neat.

  • Rendering Freeze in Premiere CS4

    I had a DV 24P project go into what I call "rendering freeze" - it opens up the render box, but then does nothing. It will simply sit there for hours if I let it, but I can escape out of it at any time. The project was a CS3 import that is 95% done, and my deadline isn't until March, so I set it aside for more pressing work. I'm on Vista Ultimate and CS4 has been rock solid for me on multiple projects, from scratch and CS3 imports.
    (under "render details" it shows the start time correctly, but both the "time elapsed" and "free disk space" fields are blank)
    Tonight I started a new 1080 HD1080P 24 project, and a few renders into it the same thing happened. I thought this would be a good opportunity for troubleshooting, since I had little time invested into the project.
    I tried deleting effects, tracks, then assets, and finally everything to see if I could get a render to work. Dead. I tried opening a new sequence and importing a simple jpg as an asset. Same problem. I tried it over again using DV and other sequence timelines to see if it was format dependent. The freeze seemed to be project independent.
    I started over with a new project using the same format, assets, and effect, duplicating the same steps as as closely as possible, and rendering continues to work fine - and I'm much further into the project. This has me scared to death that my DV project (the one that is 95% done) is nearly useless (the 5% left to do is all detail work and must be rendered to check edits).
    Has anyone else had this problem?

    I hope you've found the answer already, but it sound exactly what I've run into.
    My problem was that I upgraded from CS2 and then removed the suite once CS4 was running.
    If you have done the same thing, simply reinstall Premiere CS4 and it will work as it did for me.
    If not, I don't know what to tell you.
    Good luck,
    Dan

  • The rendering freeze issue.

    I know this has been talked to death, but it appears (at least to me) that the freeze issue is because of the 7.0 themes, and not the program itself. There is a bug that doesn't exist in the 6.0 themes.
    I came to this conclusion, of course, after many attempts to create a DVD with the Revolution theme or the Stretch theme. It worked twice initially with those 7.0 themes, but since then it freezes upon entering the rendering of the second menu.
    After following many of the suggetions posted around, I still had the same issue. Now, after switching to a 6.0 theme, it hasn't locked up once.
    The only question I now ask is why this seems to be happening more to MacBook Pro users.

    I've been having the same problem with my macbook pro since november. I've been watching these forums to see if anyone has figured out the problem but I can wait any longer so I called apple. I've spent at least 8 hours on 5 different phone calls with 5 different people over the last two weeks. My computer still is not fixed. And from the sounds of the people I've talked to, they have no idea that there is even a problem with some of the macbook pros. I have done everything that they can think of including completely erasing and reinstalling my operating system and testing idvd with a file sent to me from apple. I was able to narrow down my problem to having videos in the drop zones of submenus. I can burn a dvd with as many submenus as I want as long as there are pictures in the drop zones. It burns fine with a picture in the drop zone. I can even burn a dvd with video in one menu drop zone and pictures in the rest. It doesn't matter which menu the video is in, as long as there is only one menu drop zone with video the dvd will burn. Is anyone else getting the same result?

  • Rendering Freezing when composition includes audio

    Ok so i'm making a short "test" movie to try out the lightsaber effect. I render it with lossless without audio and it works fine it renders and is just video.
    When I try to add Audio by checking the audio ouput box the render freezes at frame 1 and when I stop it a window pops up that says that an output module has stopped working it may be missing or corrupted you may need to restart after effects. I restart after effects and the problem persists. I tried exporting the audio seperate by deleting the video layers and rendering as a .wav file. It renders in less than a second and when I listen to the file it is less than a second of nothing. Here is the log of the audio output I can't get one of the audio+video output though. By the way I am using the trial.

  • Premiere Pro CC 2014 Crashing with rendering, freezing system, and more

    Hello,
    I'm having some serious issues with Premiere pro on my late 2013 iMac.
    OSX 10.9.5
    3.2GHz Intel Core i5
    16GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    NVIDIA FeForce GT 755M  1024MB
    I'm working in 1920x1080 23.976fps. Media files are from sony FS700 .MTS and Cannon 5DmkIII .mov
    Multiple times per day, PP crashes on me. It all started when I was getting really choppy playback which would be accompanied by this error message:
    A Low Level Exception has occurred in ImporterMPEG (Importer)
    This would soon after lead to the program freezing and me having to force quit the program. After contacting Adobe the first time about this persistent issue, the tech explained to me that it was a "Memory Leak" issue and that there was nothing that could be done. After the support team member ended our chat online before helping me solve my issue, I called support. I provided my case number and this person picked up where the helplessly left me and did the typical Adobe one fix all: He went into the hidden library and cleared all of my preferences, removed any third party plugins, and cleared the files in the root applications Adobe folder, renamed a folder "Adobe.Old" etc.
    As I explained to the support team member on the phone, this is not a solution but rather a bandaid until it happens again.
    Low and behold it has happened again. This time the support team member had me create a new System Administrator account on my computer thinking that there was a permissions problem with my other account which was conflicting with PPCC2014. While this was a major pain to switch between the new account and any other program that I had set up for day to day work, it allowed me to continue editing and at least (at a less efficient rate) get things done.
    Now, while using my new System Administrator account, I am getting terrible crashes that not only stall the program, but force me to hard re-boot my computer. These crashes are accompanied by a terrifying looking screen that I was only able to capture once.
    They've only become more intimidating as now I cant even see the program when this happens, but this is the only screen capture that did not turn out completely black.
    I'm looking to see if anyone has had any extreme issues like this and if so how they were able to fix it. I've now spent 6+ hours with support and after the last one was told I would receive a personal email follow up by the end of the day (never happened) to take further actions based on the performance after the new account creation.
    I need help. Now.
    -John

    Hi John,
    First of all, try this: Re: A low level exception occured in: Importer MPEG (Importer)
    Next, make sure that if you updated OS X to 10.9.x, or later, you must check the following each time you update: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later)
    Other things to try:
    Sign out from Creative Cloud, restart Premiere Pro, then sign in
    Update any GPU drivers
    Trash preferences
    Delete media cache
    Remove plug-ins
    Repair permissions
    Disconnect any third party hardware
    Remove QT components from Mac HD > Library > QuickTime
    If you have a CUDA GPU, ensure that the Mercury Playback Engine is set to CUDA, not OpenCL
    Disable App Nap
    Reboot
    Report back if anything here worked for you.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Problems with Rendering - Freezing at %50

    Hi there
    Windows 7
    8gb RAM
    Intel Core i7 930
    Nvideo Gefore GTX 480
    I've been having problems with my Premiere Pro CS4 renders. I've recently rendered Photoshop based graphics with LOTS of layers in an HD format without problem.
    But now working with 1080p AVCHD, I've been having issues. I've had 2results:
    1.) Doing a small chunk (about 450 frames), it has frozen at %50 3 times in a row.
    2.) Doing a bigger chunk, it completed the render but then didn't update the sequence window with the green line, playback wasn't working and then moments later the whole program froze.
    My exports work completely fine though, just not the renders.
    my only thought is, is that I specified I'd be working at 1080i30 (60i) because I'm 90% sure that's what the video was shot in, but maybe I was wrong.

    I lied, 30p is just as bad... I can only do 1 opacity fade or 1 video transition.. once I do 2, Premiere stutters and pauses on the transtion, then gets unstuck but the video goes into hyper speed for a second.
    I tried updating video card and changing audio, no success.
    I have a feeling it's CS4, Adobe rushed CS4 with AVCHD support to get quick sales... the really AVCHD support is in CS5... I mean... Adobe forgot to put in the LPCM audio codec which is AVCHDs main audio codec and is an audio codec that has been around since the 80s...
    Frustrating, any other suggestions? I think I'm going to have to reformat, and do a driver by driver/codec by codec installation... maybe I installed a codec I shound't have or something.
    *edit*
    Also, I'm 90% sure that when trying to render effects, it's the video transitions that Adobe Premiere is getting stuck on during the render... It doesn't make any sense, I can playback the transitions but I can't render them? I can play through one transition completely fine if there is only 1 transition in the entire project, but if I have 2 then all the transitions become choppy?
    Like I'm only doing BASIC cut, paste, copy, transition video editing here...

  • 17 Macbook Pro, freezing while rendering video in FCP

    Hi I have a late 2008 Model MacBook Pro 17.  My Macbook keeps freezing during rendering in Final Cut Pro 7.  Its been doing this for 3 weeks or so.  I originally thought a SSD was the way to go, but I think I may really need a new processor.  Im a little confused on what I should buy and what fits my MacBook Pro. What I want is to fix the rendering freezing and shorten the rendering time.  I'd appreciate any advice or ideas.  Is my Macbook compatible to a Intel i7 or i5?  Buying a new Macbook Pro is not an option at this point.  Thank you in advance.
    Here are the specs on my laptop:
    MacBookPro4,1
    2.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    8 GB RAM
    500gb HDD Momentus 7200 SATA 3Gb/s
    GeForce 8600M GT

    Hi instantclassic99,
    I do have this article of key combinations on startup:
    Startup key combinations for Intel-based Macs
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1533
    I would try this with a wired Apple keyboard if possible.  Specifically, I'd try:
    Press Option during startup
    Start up in Startup Manager, where you can select an OS X volume or network volume to start from.
    Cheers!

  • Pdf.js breaks pdf functionality with no recourse

    I came into work today and lo and behold, after the obligatory but unwanted and unnecessary monthly update from FireFox, PDF files are behaving very differently: not rendering, freezing up, not returning search results, etc. So after spending a half hour (my boss has some choice words for you) trying to figure out what's happened, I find that Firefox has foisted a new "feature" on my workflow: pdf.js, a solution to a problem that never existed. I decide to disable it, as every response from Firefox has suggested, but now PDFs won't open at all. Every PDF I save to the desktop via Firefox and try to open (Adobe won't open inside Firefox anymore - thanks again!) says it's corrupted and unreadable. I switched back to IE and wow, PDFs work as I had configured them, even when I save them to the desktop. So not only did Firefox break the in-browser experience, but you've managed to break things outside the browser as well by corrupting PDFs as they pass through Firefox. *golf clap* This system was working perfectly 16 hours ago when I left work.
    This really is the straw that broke the camel's back. I have a long history with Firefox, a regular supporter, cheerleader, bug reporter, reviewer and donator (I've signed up with a new email to make this comment), and the last year has been nothing but a downward spiral. I swallowed the new stupid update cycle even though it's obvious that issues like this exact one are a seriously detrimental side-effect, but I cannot swallow this. You have the best browser in existence but you are killing it. Absolutely. You have alienated one of your hardcore supporters and the thing is you don't even care, not one whit.
    I know this is supposed to be a support question but honestly I don't care anymore, either. I have to switch back to IE (Chrome is just... not good) and this time I am not looking back. I will be relinquishing Firefox to what used to be IE's status: only used when I can't get functionality from another browser (essentially when I need to use the web developer toolbar). Too bad. I just dread the spate of friends, relatives and colleagues that will be flooding me with problems and requests to remove Firefox (s it can't be fixed).

    I don't think this feature was ready for prime time. I spent about an hour over the last day and a half going back and forth with a staff member by email who reported that several of our PDFs "wouldn't download". I found that the new PDF viewer handles our PDFs generated from document scans abysmally, taking so long to load pages as the user scrolls that they might legitimately give up and assume the pages will not load, and scaling the page images poorly enough to make them very difficult to read for those with the patience to see them at all. Simply downloading the same document to the same machine occurs so quickly that it's hard to register a download delay at all, so I'm not sure what takes so long.
    The staff member was over the moon when we got the new feature deactivated on his machine. I'm sure that we have site users all over right now who are having the same problem, and don't have the technical expertise to know that they can bypass the hinky viewer, or even to know that the viewer is the problem.
    In testing this out with multiple users and operating systems, I find that users who are annoyed by the new viewer don't seem to realize that they aren't dealing with Acrobat Reader, and so will tend to blame Adobe for their headaches. Not fair, but the new viewer does look awfully like a plug-in PDF reader.

  • Rather complicated (possibly!) threading/event handling problem...

    OK, so here's a good question to ask for my first post to this site!
    My current "project" is a GUI applet that does real-time interactions on a set of objects and user input. I'm using double buffering, event handling (from the keyboard) and multiple threads to handle the categories of "user input and graphics" and "world state updating." Here is a rough overview of how the program is layed out:
    // keyboard input status class
    class Keyboard extends KeyListener {
       static int[] code = new int[7];            // contains keycodes of interesting keys
       static boolean[] status = new boolean[7];     // status of keys (true=pressed)
       static boolean getStatus(int key) {
          return status[key];
       void keyPressed(KeyEvent e) {
          for(int i = 6; i >= 0; i--)
             if(code[i] == e.code)
                status[i] = true;
       void keyReleased(KeyEvent e) {
          for(int i = 6; i >= 0; i--)
             if(code[i] == e.code)
                status[i] = false;
    // main program applet
    class Program extends Applet implements Runnable {
       static Thread thread;      // main thread of applet
       static Image buffer;         // double buffer for offscreen rendering
       static boolean running;  // flag to indicate status of applet
       void init() {
          buffer = createImage(500, 500);
          // other initializations
       void destroy() {
          // other disposes
       void start() {
          running = true;
          thread = new Thread(this);
          thread.start();
          addKeyListener(new Keyboard());   // begin receiving input
       void stop() {
          running = false;
          if(thread != Thread.currentThread())
             thread.join();    // wait for thread to die before continuing
       void run() {
          double paintTimer = 0;   // timer to suspend painting to buffer until necessary
          double dt = 0;       // difference in time between loops
          while(running) {
             // update timing stuff (dt and paintTimer)
             // update world status
             paintTimer -= dt;      // to decrement painting timer
             if(paintTimer <= 0) {
                paintTimer = 1.0 / fps;    // reset paint timer based on current fps setting
                synchronized(syncObject) {
                   // paint world to buffer
                   repaint();
             Thread.yield();  // to yield time to painting and user input thread
       // this method is only called by the internal thread within the applet
       //  that is responsible for painting and event handling
       void paint(Graphics g) {
          // make sure painting to screen won't conflict with thread that's drawing on buffer!
          synchronized(syncObject) {
             g.drawImage(buffer, 0, 0, null);  // do double buffering...paint buffer to screen
    }So the end result is that it works fine some of the time, but every once in awhile I'll get these strange results where it'll seem as if the internal thread that handles graphics and input will get bogged down or stop responding normally, even with the Thread.yield() call from the main applet thread. I'll get results where the world will continue to be updated correctly, but the user input and onscreen rendering freeze in a particular state for a matter of seconds, and then it seems to regain control for a brief few milliseconds (hence I'll get a quick screen refresh and keyboard state change), and then it'll freeze again. Once this starts happening somewhere in the middle of execution, it continues to happen throughout that runtime session. Sometimes when I force-close the appletviewer I'll get weird native runtime exceptions that seem to occur within Sun's keyboard input manager.
    Almost always it'll run perfectly for many minutes, and then all of a sudden it'll start to freeze up. Every once in awhile it freezes almost immediately after startup. I've run some testcases on it and am pretty confident it has nothing to do with the synchronization or the fact that I create a new applet thread every time the applet is restarted dynamically. Is it something happening within the event thread of the applet that I'm not aware of? Or is it something wrong with the flow of my code? Thanks for any input or help you can give! I'll be happy to send more details if needed.
    Zach

    right before your repaint, putSystem.out.println("Is EDT? "+SwingUtilities.isEventDispatcherThread());if its printing false, then you need to do SwingUtilities.invokeLater( ... );
    and put GUI updating code in the invoke later.

  • LiveType 2.1.3 Crashes

    The software simply crashes.. It doesn't have much rhyme of reason. It was working fine for about 2 days but when I reopened a project and made changes to the font style, I then hit the play button to preview the changes, it then begins to step through the video as it renders freezes for a few seconds then crashes. I reinstalled LiveType and and it seemed to work for 1 day then the same problem returned. I've only had this computer and software for less than a week. I am off to a rough start. Any Ideas?

    What was the last ProKit update that you installed?
    The last few messages in [this huge thread|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1392289&tstart=0] might be of some assistance.

  • New Mac Pro (late 2013) crashes / freezes while rendering or editing in Premiere Pro CC

    We recently purchased a new Mac Pro desktop (Late 2013, 16GB memory, D700 Graphic Card, 2.7 GHz -12 Core, OSX 10.9.3) and we are running Adobe CC on it. When using Premiere Pro CC (7.2.2) I am having major issues while rendering and editing. About 50% of the time when I try to render it starts off real fast then just freezes. This happens in Premiere and Media Encoder. Sometimes I can just Force Quit Premiere or Media Encoder and other times I have to do a hard restart on the entire computer because the entire computer freezes. The computer will also occasionally freeze whenever doing simple editing or stacking layers. The  computer will also just decide to suddenly stop and restart when editing or doing simple tasks like browsing the web. Additionally there has been several times if the render does finish, the final video will have digital glitches throughout the video. I have to redo the render once or twice and it will finally be fine. This all is happening several times a day. This never happened on our previous Mac Pro, but we were not running Mavericks. I used Migration Assistant to transfer from old computer to new computer. So I don't know if this is an a problem with the actual Mac Pro, Mavericks, graphic card or Adobe? But right now I am very frustrated as you can imaging spending all this money for a computer that has been giving us more issues than our previous computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
    There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
    ☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
    ☞ Paste into the window of another application.
    ☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
    ☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
    The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
    At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • FCP freezes when rendering and exporting (HD)

    2 x 2.66 dual core intel with 1 go 667 DDR2 FB-DIMM, ATY,RadeonX1900
    Ok Got this project with green screen (conduit) and a motion template spiral title thing. When I tried to render the whole sequence it would freeze half way there. Then I rendered one cut at a time finally got it to be rendered the I try to save as quicktime movie as is and when it's at 90% its freezes.
    Recently I upgraded but didn't do anythigne mush different then usall. Help me got a bunch of other green screen to do.

    Read up on setting up 'Virtual Clusters' in compressor. This works extraordinarily well with an 8core Mac Pro.
    No real benefit within FCP, but within Compressor, the thing screams.

  • Premiere freezes when rendering in timeline (exporting is working fine). After crash, project seems corrupted.

    OK... I'm using the latest PP CC with Windows 7 64-bit on an iMac.
    I recently formatted my hard drive and reinstalled Premiere, and since then I've been unable to render in timeline (pressing enter). I can still export media without rendering, and it all works perfectly, but when I try to render it always freezes and I have to force quit program.
    In addition to this problem, when I try to re-open the project I was working on it says "This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec could be associated with this sequence type".
    I've read some threads on this, and I'm able to make a new project and import the sequences from the corrupted project onto it, but I don't want to have to do this every time! Is there any way to fix these problems?
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    The error message that you have given occurs mainly when Premiere Pro is not activated properly or even sometimes when Creative Cloud Desktop app is not updated or you are not signed in.
    To troubleshoot, first make sure your Creative Cloud Desktop app is updated and you are signed in. Next launch Premiere Pro and sign out and sign back in to Premiere. Next try to open your particular project.
    In case you still get the same error, check your hosts file (hosts file location: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc).
    Let me know the outcome.
    Thanks!
