Rendering HD Video Correctly for Flash (CS3 version)

Hi everyone,
For the LIFE of me I cannot figure out what the "magic selections" are for converting my HD video into a flash mp4 video are. I can get the mp4, but flash doesn't like it.
Before I continue, here are the specs:
Programs:
Premiere Pro CS3
Flash Professional CS3
Equipment:
Canon XHA1s HD camcorder, recording at 1080p @60i
Problems I am facing:
I can convert using the H.264 codec to create a HD mp4 file, but flash will not play it.
My Workflow:
Okay, I will start from the beginning.
-I start a new project in Premiere.
-I select "HD1080i 60i" as my format.
-I capture video off of the camcorder in premiere.
-The video looks great, and is definately in HD quality. I pull the captured video into my source pane, then set my in and out points.
-I insert those points into my program pane.
-I export my video using adobe media encoder.
-I select H.264 as my format.
-I select a custom preset.
-I make the size of my frame half the size of the original file.
-I set the framerate to 30.
-The TV standard is set to NTSC.
-Then I open Flash CS3.
-I follow the tutorial exactly given by Tom Green on this webpage: http://www.layersmagazine.com/hd-video-in-flash-professional-cs3.html
-When I preview my video file, an error message pops up saying that the URL has to be an fla file!
Ugh...
ALSO my files are absolutely HUGE!!! this file for instance became about 86 megs!! Is there any way to downsize without loosing a huge amount of quality?
SO...if you want to try to correct me, be my guest. OR if you just have a way of doing it that works please, do share! I'm getting pretty frustrated with this thing...

If you're trying to create a flash video, you need to create an FLV not an MP4. While H264 is readable by the latest versions of Flash, the normal extension for h264 Flash is F4V. MP4 in CS3 is primarily used to create blu-ray or perhaps XDCam files.
Why not output FLV and be done with it?

Is there any (public) timetable for the release of the Flash
Lite for BREW Publisher for Mac? My ideal development scenario (due
to the fact that I only have one legal license of Adobe Flash CS3
and it's for the Mac) would be to develop using Flash CS3 within
OSX, and then port my MOD/MIF files to my BREW device using
Parallels and WinXP.
Alternatively, I could have a dedicated version of Flash set
up for BREW development (which I do with Flash 8). Obviously,
however, buying two licenses of CS3 just to publish MOD/MIF files
is less than desirable. Please let me know either way.

New 9.0.2 update for Flash CS3 Professional

I just ran the new Flash CS3 Professional update via the
Adobe Updater. Everything ran and reported the update was
successfully completed. However Flash still says it's 9.0.0.494 in
the Finder and when choosing About Flash from the program it says
9.0. Just wondering if the update really happened or not.

Bentley: There is a downloadable update available NOW. And
based on what you say the language is confusing.

It states "Adobe Flash CS3 Professional (9.0.2)". You should
change that, as it does not appear to be the case. The language
definitely implies that the program itself will be updated to
9.0.2.

Help! Can't play online videos in Adobe Flash CS3/ CS4.

I am not able to play online videos in Adobe Flash CS3/ CS4. Reinstalled, changed computer, the same. But I could play just a month ago. Any idea what could have happened to my Adobe Flash CS3/ computer or any other source please?

Clearing the cache didn't work, but removing the Youtube cookie and restarting firefox did. I can now switch to Hi-def again

I just want to say why I use cracked copy because I can not buy a
good copy from my country.
2) I do not steal or crack software I'm a multimedia
developer and I had to use flash cs3, and if you want to judge me,
go and judge cracker who put cracked copies on the internet first
(and by the way in my country that you do not care about it there
is no cracker we use cracked copies your country do).

Adobe AIR update for Flash CS3

Hi, i'm having some trouble installing the adobe air update
for flash CS3.
I've installed it like 5 times, it always says that the
installation is complete.
But when i go to flash and try to make an AIR file it's not
in the list, the only things i see are those:

Flex Component Kit for Flash CS3

Hi,
I created a flex component using the component kit for Flash
CS3. The component contains a vector image wrapped as a MovieClip.
In my flex application I add the component as child to a
Canvas. It works well if i add it like -

</mx:Canvas>
or like -
container.addChild (new MyComponent()); //DISPLAYED
However, the component is not displayed when I do the
following -
var array:Array = new Array(new MyComponent());
container.addChild(array[0]); //NOT DISPLAYED
Can somebody tell me why this is so?
I would also like to know if such components can be
instantiated using flash.utils.getDefinitionByName.
I tried it but I get Error #1065: Variable 'componentName' is
not defined
Could somebody please tell me what is going on?

I have a workaround for this -
I first add the component as an Mxml tag with visibility
false and then remove the component
with actionscript. Now all instantiations work normally (this
includes all components in the SWC).

and in <mx:Script>
container.removeAllChildren();
var comp:MyComponent = new MyComponent(); //Works

fonts' problem that
existed with Flash MX and below.
Anyway, even though I don't really know whats happening, my

Problem Installing Flex Component Kit for Flash CS3

i have downloaded the mxp files from here:

And installed them using the extension manager (flash cs4) but i don't get the new commands added (rebooted flash cs4, of course...)
Any ideas please?

Preparing a file for Flash CS3

When I use the Sorenson Spark codec in Flash CS3, I get a lot of aliasing and the like which I think comes from the fact that Flash is having to resize my source file. Normally Compressor does a good job (much better than FCP), so I was wondering, what's the absolute highest quality file I can output using Compressor that I would be able to run through the Flash Video Encoder? Obviously file size is not an issue, just whatever would create the least amount of visible compression.

I agree in principle, but it was the only way to get rid of certain artifacts. It's a moot point now, though, as we tried the trial of Sorenson Squeeze and the pro version of the Spark codec works great, even from the Quicktime source. Some of the alpha layers are producing weird artifacting, so I'm trying the uncompressed codecs Compressor offers (I didn't know they were there before) to see if that helps.

Is there a way to increase the video buffer for Flash Player 9?

Does anyone know if it's possible to increase the buffer
capacity for Flash Player 9? I'm living out in the boondocks for a
while and am jonesing for Comedy Central videos. I just subscribed
to a DSL provider in a rural setting but it's a little too far from
the hub and the data transfer rate is slow. The Flash Player
application appears to only buffer a minute of video. Currently I
click the pause button while a selected video is playing and then
wait for the data to buffer. Unfortunately, the data transfer is
stopped after a minutes worth of video is loaded. Any
suggestions?

There's no way to do it on the client side. That can only be
controlled by the developer of the content..

Default font directory for Flash CS3 on Mac OS X?

Hi, I've installed a couple of fonts on my Mac that I want to use in Flash CS3, but they're not showing up in the font list. Where/how do I install them so that Flash will pick them up?

Thanks for popping in, but after hours of reinstalling and upgrading stuff, I'm finally where I need to be. Apparently, something went wonky with my Mac's font system, and it took me forever to clean everything up. But I think I'm golden now. Thanks!

What is the best pop-up video player for flash?

I am looking for the best way to create/find a pop-up video player for my flash site.
Meaning, clicking on thumbnails on a site and a new window/video player pops up.
I would love to use Vimeo, but I can work with YourTube if that is all there is.
Any suggestions?

The big blue button in the middle of the page is a Flash .swf which communicates to javascript to show/hide a <div> containing a Flash video player. In this case it's not a separate pop-up window but an overlay. the important thing is that you can communicate between Flash and javascript, which will do the pop-up.
So yes, you can create pretty much any type of pop-up you want. You'll be using actionscript in your tumbnails to communicate with javascript which will pop-open the window.
In AS2 you use getURL or ExternalInterface to communicate with javascript.

For a pop-up window, you still need to create a second, actual html web page to hold the video player... embed Vimeo or whatever player you want.

If you are looking for more of the overlay type, like the link I posted above, the layout is a little different, you'll just be displaying a <div> which will hold your player instead of a whole separate page. Then you can use javascript show/hide:

So in your Flash, you use a thumbnail as a button which communicates to the javascript in the HTML section of your Web page (remember, there is no such thing as a Flash Web page, only HTML, PHP, ASP, etc pages which may happen to have some Flash content). The javascript then responds by opening a pop-up window which displays another HTML web page that you have created and has the Vimeo player displayed on that second, popup page.

Can you resize Video Skins in Flash CS3

I am inserting a Flash Video into a file and trying to
include the automatic skin from the import dialogue box. If I have
a small video (say around 180 pixels wide), the skin juts out
obtrusively off to the sides. Is there a way to manage the size of
the skin?

I don't know about about as3 versions but the as2 versions
can have a minimum width which I think from memory is defined in
the skin file itself.
You could make your own skin by copying one of the existing
skin flas and changing it to suit , including the line of code that
specifies the minimum width.
