Rendering in 5.1.4 produces blurry images?

Hello,
I just updated FCP studio 1 to 5.1.4 and now when I render things the final graphics/video look blurry like it is still in preview mode. Does this have to do with something in
5.1.3? Does this problem sound familiar? Is there a sequence setting somewhere that I need to change?
Jordan

I checked my settings all around including the RT section. I switched the playback control from low to Dynamic playback quality and that did it. Now in an earlier version of
FCP 5.1.1, I had the playback quality set to low and frame rate set to dynamic, so what has changed in version 5.1.4?
Also in response to your question, what settings should I have for rendering?
Thanks,
Jordan

    Jp0man-
There are several reasons a photo might be blurry.  It might be out-of-focus, the iPad or subject might have been moving when the photo was taken, or the blur might actually be noise resulting from not having enough light.
Try taking a photo of a fixed object 3 or 4 feet away with a lot of light, with the iPad propped against something solid.  If you still get a blurry image, you may have a defective iPad and should contact Apple about it.  If you can demonstrate the problem to an Apple Store Genius, you may get a new iPad on the spot.

  • Compressor creates pulsing blurry images on some clips!!

Rendering from ProRes HD to DVD m2v compressor creates pulsing blurry images on some clips every 15 frames! i had had this happen twice on 2 different clip since the last update to 6.0.3 most of the movie is fine but when I get to a certain clip in the movie every 15 frames it becomes very blocky!
    Anyone have this issue?
    Thanks, mark

I also have the same pulsating pixelation/blur problem. It used to happen occaisionally in the passed, but recently it's been happening a lot. I used to be able to eliminate the problem by (reluctantly) doing a 1-pass, but even that doesn't work anymore. The same pulsating result seems to be there whatever m2v output settings I set. My company has wasted days trying to sort this out.
I never was 100% happy with Compressor - now it's right in the heap for me. I wouldn't recommend it.

  • Firefox shows blurry images (and none of the best-known solutions work)

    No matter
    * if I run Firefox under safe mode (plugins disabled),
    * if I update my graphics drivers,
    * or if I disable Harware Rendering under Advanced Options,
    Firefox keeps showing blurry images.
Here is a comparison screenshot between Firefox (left) and Opera (right) rendering the same image:
    http://imgur.com/7GksG7Z
This has been happening for a long time, even through several Firefox updates. None of the solutions I've found on the web (listed above) will fix this problem.
The image blur is tiring on the eyes, not being able to see images correctly is so annoying, and I hope someone can help me fix this issue.

Changing Firefox's zoom behavior so you can enlarge just the text but not the images can lead to site layouts breaking. If you want to take a look:
View menu > Zoom > ''check'' Zoom Text Only
(If you do not normally display the classic menu bar, tap the Alt key to display it temporarily.)
Firefox 22 was the first to tie your Firefox content zoom level to your Windows DPI setting. You can break the connection and set Firefox to use 100% resolution (the classic 96dpi resolution) if you like. Here's how:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''pix''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''layout.css.devPixelsPerPx''' and change its value to '''1.0''' for Firefox 21-sized fonts.
This will return the content to normal, but the toolbars may appear a bit smaller than your Windows standard for UI (100%/105%). There is an extension to enlarge fonts in that area: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/theme-font-size-changer/ Theme Font & Size Changer].
Can you get it to work the way you want?

  • Fix blurry images downloaded from Safari (The semi-easy way)

Hi, I've noticed a couple of people around here have had problems with image quality (blurry images) whenever an image was saved to the camera roll from Safari.
Turns out, there is a simple fix for this!
This fix requires a drawing app such as Brushes (Or any drawing app where you can take an image from your camera roll, and save to your camera roll).
Now, just open the image that is blurry in the selected drawing app.
Notice anything? The image is no longer blurry! Woo!
Now just save the image back to your camera roll, and delete the old blurry image. You won't be needing it anymore.
    Problem solved.
(I think opening the picture in the drawing app reduces the size of said picture, making it less blurry. I'll try this the next time I find a blurry image to see the changes in quality. I'll also include a picture guide for those that don't understand how to do this (But would you really need it :P))
Hope this helps all that have this problem!

Like I said, I noticed a lot of people having this problem, so I decided to post this to hold everyone over until the problem is fixed. Maybe this problem will secretly be fixed in the 3.0 update? It certainly is easier and quicker than uploading the blurry photo itself into a program such as Photoshop and editing the dimensions there.

  • Blurry Images

Hello, I am using Fireworks 8. When I create a nav bar or
other image, I have an issue with the image being blurry when I
import into Dreamweaver. I have image resolution set to 500 pixels
per inch which seems good enough to me and I am not stretching or
otherwise skewing the image in the table cell I am inserting it
into. I should say that I am new to Fireworks and also that the
images look fine in Fireworks. Thanks in advance.

The problem might be the export settings.
Open the Optimize panel, and then click on the Preview button
    at the top
of the document window. Test the image with the various
    export settings.
GIF for vector images and text with no gradients. JPEG for
    photo images
and gradients. When you like the way the image looks, test in
    your
    browser again.

  • Blurry images question

OK, I have run into a problem troed to solve now I have to ask the ID gods. I have a project that I did which was to edit some text and change some links in an .indd file.
I was sent a pdf to look at first along with t a list of instructions. The pdf looked fine all images nice and crisp, then I was sent the .indd master file for that pdf.
When  opened the master .indd file I noticed that there are a few images which are blurry. But looking at the pdf that came from this .indd the pics are fine.
I need to get to the bottom of this as there is no need to re export and save as  a new pdf as I see the blurred pics are in the .indd.
    Any help here?
    R

OK here is a fact, when I do a project I usually get the pacakage folder with all links but this indd did not have a linked image file I just got the ind itself, yet when I opened it I got the missing links message but the images were viewable inside the .indd file the complaint was after I did the edots and resaved that is when the blurry images were noticed But these were in the indd before, so moving on.
I now have got the images in another separate file but the images are not linked. I would think now to have the folder with tall the images in the same foldewr aas the .indd and link ALL images to see it I still see those few that are blurry. I do see that the image it self outside of the indd is NOT blurry. Which leads me to believe whoever imported this image into the indd originally did not optimize correctly.
Am I on the right track?

  • Blurry images in LR 5.3 Slideshow

I am having a problem with LR 5.3 creating very, very blurry images in a slideshow exported to a 720p mp4. Not all will be blurry, just random. And they are very blurry. Like it did not render the preview. Never had this problem before updating to 5.3.
Here is a screen shot of a blurred one.
And the next image in the slideshow, wich is just fine.
    Any ideas?

Bob Somrak, I forgot to turn off the Export Negatives check box.
So I did the Export as Catalog and it came up with 3992 in All Photographs and 3991 in the file totals. So it got rid of the 10 extra pictures.  I then had it syncronize the top level folder and it found and imported 10 photos.  So I now have 4002 pictures and it is displaying 4002 pictures.  4002 is the total LR said I was supposed to have in the old catalog before I did the export, but it would only display 3992.  Unfortunatly, I still have the problem that it thinks the sidecar files are missing.  It does not seem to make any difference to anything, so maybe I should just not worry about that.
Thank you very much for your help!
I have two calalogs with family photos in them, I will now see if it will let me merge them.

  • When I burn a 1.3 GB movie on DVD on the highest quality setting, the result is a blurry image.  How can I fix that?

Why did I get a poor quality DVD result when the quality is good when I view it on Premiere Elements?

    piboss314
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
What is the project preset for the project and what are the properties of the source media for the project.?
What is the screen size of the TV being used for viewing of the DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc? Do you have the
same problem if you view the DVD-VIDEO on DVD using a computer player?
We need to explore if this is a problem of expectation or something else.
    a. If you take your Timeline content to AVCHD format on a DVD disc, what is the quality of that end product?
Just in case note, DVD-VIDEO standard 4:3 and widescreen 16:9 have the same frame size, 720 x 480 (NTSC) and 720 x 576 (PAL).
The widescreen has a 16:9 flag that stretches the video for display after encoding....in the case of NTSC to about 856 x 480. So, if you
have a high resolution Timeline content, what you are seeing in the end product DVD-VIDEO may not be faring well in the comparison.
    b. Please define "poor" quality - not clear, blurry, images smudged looking, something else.
If you are starting with interlaced video with field order = Upper Field First, you may be running into a problem with the field order
that is part of DVD-VIDEO, that is, Lower Field First. We can correct that in 2 ways.
Please review the above. Your reply with details will direct us in customizing an appropriate troubleshooting plan.
    Thank you.

  • Save Current Frame produces blurry stills, but didn't before

10.10.1 - final cut pro 10.1.2 - File > Share > "Save Current Frame" produces blurry stills now, jpg and psd. the source is not blurry (as i look at the frames in the Project window). i've done this for years on FCP and got acceptable results. any tips if i accidentally changed some preference. my source are imported old MiniDV tapes stored in default FCP library.
    thanks for any info!

this NEVER would have been solved if TW didn't solve it LOL! THANK YOU! in 1999 i was a windoz user and i wanted to make some movies. windoz required me buying special "media disks", special software, extra powerful mother board... and a friend in the media business said, "get the new imac dv with imovie 1". for the next 5 years i made incredible movies using the sony mini dv tapes and mac. people thought i was a professional but the simplicity of the imac dv was the genius (and it's creators). i started using fcp a few years back always made frame stills, i've never had a problem and never heard of "interlacing"  until tom's post above. i don't think i just set this as a default? and i don't know why anyone would want interlacing if it makes your still frames/movies blurry LOL! i can read up on it later.
here is a youtube showing how to turn it off. THANKS again Tom!!!!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVT-qd5kkpY
below is a successful frame capture after changing to the Project Properties to 720p (and not 720i = interlace which seem to be the new default?)

  • T410 camera blurry image

    Hi!
I am running a T410 with Linux. The camera is detected but the image is out of focus. I thought it may be a Linux driver problem, so I installed Windows 7 in VirtualBox, using USB-pass-through to use the Windows driver for the camera. I was surprised that the image was exactly the same: out of focus.
Note: I have tried various light conditions, distances, etc. The images below are a comparison at the same distance/light of the internal camera, with an external one:
    Image with internal camera:
    Link to picture
    Using an external USB camera:
    Link to picture
    Anyone has seen this problem?
I know there is an utility called ThinkVantage Communication Utility. Which I can't run on Linux or virtualized. However, as far as I know it has basic image controls (which also work on Linux), but nothing related to focus (and the focus is also afaik fixed).
I am thinking this is faulty hardware. I am trying to avoid wiping my system just to restore the factory image just to watch the same blurry image, specially after the hundred of issues I have found with the camera on the web.

Man, you made me almost scratch the case with a knife looking for a plastic strip. There is none. :-)
Accidentally, while trying to move the "strip" I could not see, I noticed the image quality got fixed (on Linux), but it lasted only while I had my fingers there. Gotcha. If I press the area near the lens against the screen, it gets fixed.
    Without pressing image
    Pressing the plastic image
So the problem is hardware. Shame on Lenovo, I was expecting a more robust construction. At least I don't see how this could have hapenned on my old T20's. Now looking in detail, loos like the screen frame is not well attached to the rest.
    I will contact a service provider :-(

  • Blurry Images in new Photos App

I have noticed a problem with the new Photos app and I am uncertain whether it is unique to my system (iMac 2013 21inch).  Photos taken in a portrait orientation do not display sharp on the screen.  They look a little blurry as if the software hasn't properly rendered the image for preview.  If you zoom in to part of the photo and then zoom out again the issue corrects itself and the image is displayed sharp.
Has anyone else had this problem and have they fixed it?

Hi, i'm struggling to find a way of merging albums in the new photos app does anyone know how to do this?
Make the sidebar visible.  View > Show Sidebar ⌥⌘S
Select one of the albums and all photos in it.
Drag the selected photos to the other album in the sidebar to merge the photos into it. Then delete the now empty original album. You can delete an album by selecting it in the Sidebar, ctrl-clicking it, then use "Delete album" from the contextual menu.

  • Multi-machine rendering on non-identical hardware produces flicker

    Hi folks,
I'm using a renderfarm manager to break up a large AE render into pieces and render different frameranges on different machines.  My render nodes are of two different hardware types -- a bunch of oldern (Dell 1850) dual-proc nodes, and a couple of newer 8-core Xeon machines.
I'm finding that the two different types of hardware produce slightly lighter/darker output.  My current test is loading a Quicktime movie w/ standard Photo-JPEG codec, applying no effects, just placing it into its own comp and rendering out as an image sequence.  The 8-cores produce slightly darker output than the others.
The OSes, AE versions, QT versions are the same, I've confirmed that "Render using OpenGL" is unchecked in the render settings for the comp.
Anyone know what else could be responsible for this difference?  It's slight, but significant enough to produce a slight flickering effect in the final output.
Thanks in advance for any ideas!
    --Rob

    Hi Mylenium,
The source movie is flat - one video track only.  I've switched QT Prefs on both nodes (testing now with one of each hardware type) to "Safe (GDI Only)" and both have "High Quality" enabled in QT Prefs.
The newer nodes DO have a GPU graphics adapter, while he older ones do not (on-board graphics), but I would assume that turning off the DirectX in QT Prefs and not choosing "Render using OpenGL" in the comp makes that irrelevant, right?
When I re-encode the source as something different (tried Uncompressed 8-bit and Sorenson 3 so far) the two nodes render the same.  When I encode back to Photo-JPEG, the discrepancy returns.  So it does seem to be specific to this codec (or at least not to all of them).  Exporting directly from QT Player as an image sequence produces matching output, too, so it does seem to be happening in AE CS3.
Does the color profiles possibility still apply, given this new info?  If so, how can I check / compare them?

  • Blurry images final cut pro

Hi. I am trying to do a little film out of some still images I shot recently. However, after importing these images into final cut they all look blurry. When I am doing the same in imovie, I get a good result. What is the problem? How can I fix it?
    Thanks
    Stephan

I just dragged some photos in the timeline (HD 30fps), and they always look blurry afterwards, even after the rendering. The images are high quality dslr images (file size between 4 to 6 MB). When I am doing the same in imovie, go to full screen it all looks ok, in final cut everything is blurry. I did not creat a final output yet, because I thought why should I waste time, if it looks that bad already from the beginning
