Rendering in FCP: I render, close FCP, and have to render again

Hello all,
Maybe this is a question which many of you will find easy to answer, but I do not understand why after rendering portions of my timeline that do need rendering, it plays fine, but if I close FCP and restart it later it needs to render those portions again...
Is there something I am doing wrong when I render? I usually select the clips that need rendering and choose "render only" and "clips that need render".
Thanks.

check the trash for your lost rendered files. If they are there, your Render manager is deleting them prematurely.
If they're not in the trash, they should still be in your Render folder.
You can debug this (but not necessarily fix it), with some tedium, by opening the render folder and sorting by date. Render the project and note the new filenames, maybe label them red or blue. Close the project, open it. Are the files gone?

Did you try to connect in recovery mode and restore without using the latest backup?

If setting up as new device does not work, you'll have to get it serviced or looked at by visiting an Apple Store.
Did you try to remove the ipsw firmware file and restore, to make iTunes download a new copy from Apple?
    Those files are located here:
Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw)
iTunes uses "ipsw" files to restore your iPod or iPhone. If those files are unusable, then try deleting them, renaming them, or moving the file to a different directory. This will cause iTunes to download a new copy of the IPSW. When a restore issue is specific to a user, it is likely due to an unusable .ipsw file. If removing the .ipsw file does not resolve a user-specific restore issue, then the issue is caused by other user-specific security software settings or iTunes preferences. Creating a new user will also cause new .ipsw restore files to be downloaded in the new user. You can find the ".ipsw" files in these locations:
    Mac OS X
    iPhone
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates
    iPad
    ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates
    iPod touch

  • If a call comes in while adding a contact or editing a contact all info is lost and have to start again.

If a call comes in while adding a contact or editing a contact all info is lost and have to start again.

If it's happening on multiple devices the only thing I could suggest is a downgrade to 10.2.1 if the issue becomes too bothersome. Make sure to do a backup before downgrading as you will lose all information.

  • Capturing 24p, and have to render every clip.

Hi all. Thanks for your time. After reading all the 24p articles in here, I thought I had it straight: I shot 24p normal (16:9) on an xl2, and captured it on FCP 4.5 using the "DV NTSC 48 kHz Anamorphic" setting for Capture as well as for the Sequence Preset. However, I still have to render (red line) ever time I bring a clip into the timeline! What am I doing wrong?? Please someone help, and thank you for your time.

You shooting in PAL land? You have a PAL camera????
Stating the obvious, but thought I'd get that out of the way...
Do us a favor... find the item properties window for the CAPTURED clips and read it down for us.
Then... Apple-Zero the sequence you've created and read down THOSE settings.
    Thanks,

  • Firefox crashes every time I close it and have done everything to fix the problem

Each time I close Firefox, I am getting the crash report box (I can copy and send the crash report if thats helpful though it says it's submitting it somewhere?). I have tried doing everything provided in the troublehshooting section including: disabling all plug ins and extensions, turning off hardware acceleration, resetting to original settings, running antivirus and spyware apps (symantec, spybot, hitman pro and malwarebytes anti-malware). I'm running latest firefox and laptop is XP running SP3. Please help! I'm at wits end and have spent the last 24 hours of my life trying to resolve! the problem started I believe when some of my google searches were being redirected so thought it was a spyware/malware problem and ran all the apps above. It did remove whatever was found so hopefully the laptop is virus and spyware free.

Thanks. I did what you've suggested above: uninstalled ask toolbar, updated Skype to current version, installed Java. Couldn't find my graphics driver. The driver is ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 and can't find the driver anywhere on AMD's site or anywhere else. It says something about using a legacy driver and went through the various suggested methods but didn't install any updated driver bc it didn't specifically ever say the update was for this driver so didn't take any chances. In any event the graphics and video on the computer seems fine and didn't want to add another problem if the video crashes. Anyway, still same problem. I'm still getting the crash screen when I exit firefox...Please help.

  • Whenever I close firefox and start it up again it stays in the same spot. It's nice when my computer has problems, but when I just want to start a new session it gets tedious. What do I do about this?

When I close my browser and open it up again it starts from the exact same place, which would be troublesome if i was doing online banking for example. If I close on a page it opens back up to the same page again.

Try changing your startup option to your home page or a blank tab here:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > General > "When Firefox starts"

  • I experience a kernel panic whenever I close firefox and have to hard reboot my machine.

I am running Mac OS X 10.7.4 and Firefox 15.0.1 on a Macbook Pro 9,1. Almost every time I close firefox, the computer freezes completely and/or has a kernel panic, and in all situations I have to hard-reboot the machine. I've tried uninstalling other 3rd party apps and have sourced the problem to firefox. When I view the system report of the crash after rebooting, it says that the source of the crash was from a firefox process and something related to Nvidia Geforce. I was wondering if this may be related to the graphics switching on the new macbooks (I have a intel 4000 + a Nvidia 650m), however, I still get crashes when I turn off automatic graphics switching. My other thought was perhaps this problem has to do with hardware acceleration. Unfortunately, I tried disabling hardware acceleration in firefox and it still caused the computer to crash.
I'm happy to hear any suggestions! I don't want to have to switch to another browser, but using firefox 15 in its current state has made my computer unstable and unusable.

Which is it, hanging or crashing, or both?

  • How do I add web app tags to web app fields and have them render correctly?

    - I have a webapp field entitled "Status".
    - I have a webapp fields entitles "Status-Listed".
    - I want to have a tag in the description field that is {tag_Status-{tag_Status}} to where if the Status field is set to Listed the result will be {tag_Status-Listed} and will return the value in the Status-Listed field.
    - It works, and returns the value:
    <h2>Listed</h2>{tag_county} County<br />{tag_firstname} {tag_lastname} | {tag_address1}, {tag_address2} {tag_city}, {tag_state} | {tag_zipcode} | {tag_phone}<br />{tag_status} | <em>
    - However, this will display as the text entered when the tag is rendered from Design view. If I place the code in the HTML view it will render each tag correctly. What I am seeking to do is apply four different types of stylings to the listing, as in Listed, Not Listed, Rejected, No Answer, etc. That way in my directory I can have the status determine the type of look each listing has based upon the Status field.
    Any thoughts from the community?

I am not sure I follow what you are explaining, but, I will try to give you an idea. Wrap all of your HTML in a div with a class of {tag_Status-{tag_Status}}. you can then style as necessary. However, if this involves hiding certain elements, then I would suggest using a custom template for each type of listing.

  • Firefox crashes then when I try to reopen it I get a message saying it is already open and must be closed. It is not open and I cannot close it and have to reboot. It is very annoying as it happens often.

Firefox will close unexpectedly then when I try to open it I get a message saying it is already open and I must close it first. I cannot find it open anywhere and then I must reboot to open Firefox again.

  • Computer can't close anything and can't open again without slowing?

All right, so I have Mountain Lion on another computer and I'm not sure if it's gotten it's "update" yet or not, but it sure hasn't fixed anything if the update has gone out.
My computer will load perfectly fine after I have shut it down. Not restarted, as in, completely shut down and then turned back on again. The problem is with the programs.
I tend to have firefox and something else open at the same time, say Microsoft Word or itunes or something, both of which can run fine after I first open them. The problem is after I try to close one of them. It doesn't matter which one, say firefox, but if I hit "quit" I WILL have to go to force quit because the program is having trouble deciding if it really wants to quit or not, I can only assume. So I force quit that, but then my WHOLE computer is now completely slowed down now that I've done that. I will constantly get the rainbow ball, it will take me 5 minutes to do something or open another program and that's even if it decides to do it instead of "not responding".
So then, to pretty much do anything else on the computer, I have to shut it down, and then turn it on again.
I am pretty sure that shutting your computer down at least 3 times every day isn't a good thing, but that's what I have had to resort to doing. Is there any way to fix this problem (I have the latest updates so I'm pretty sure updating wouldn't do it) or is this system just really that bad and I will have to wait for an update to see if they will even address the slowness issue?

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

  • How do I stay signed in to my homepage when I close forefox and then reopen it again in the future?

I'm sure there's a simple procedure to enable this. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to accomplish this novice query? Thanks in advance-KC

  • I have had several kernel crashes and have reinstalled lion again.

The crashes keep on coming, so I bought Mackeeper and it told me that my system was clean but it still crashes. Most of the crashes happen while on the internet either watching "blink box" or shifting between sites. Mackeeper atuomatically checkes my internet security and I am at a loss at to what is causing it. It is always a kernel ( panic attack) and the screen always goes gray as the line comes down. Does anyone know what is happening. I have had mac's all my life and this is the first mac that I have ever had a problem with.

First, MacKeeper is a scam. Uninstall it by dragging the application to the Trash. Some people have reported being able to get a refund from the developer.
If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select the most recent panic log under System Diagnostic Reports. Post the contents — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post "shutdownStall" or "hang" reports.
If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
