Rendering in Garageband to mp4

When I produce a song in GarageBand 10.0.1 and try to render under share burn to disk.....it will only download part of the song or render part of the recording? Why?
I want the whole song as a mp4a or mp3 file? What am I doing wrong?

I did a quick peek through versiontracker and I found nothing. Plenty of apps that convert FROM, but nothing mentions TO
DivXWMAConverter 1.2.1
Convert DivX audio from WMA to MP3 for QT
Hyperion 0.1b
WMA file decoder based on ffmpeg
Music Man 1.7.6
rip, convert, burn & play WMA, WAV, AAC, Ogg, MP3
RioVolt SP100 2.10
firmware for the portable MP3/WMA player
MacMP3CD 1.5
Burns and plays MP3 & WMA CDs
EasyWMA 2.5.5
convert WMA, ASF & WMV files to MP3, M4A, WAV
Maybe someone else will pass through with an idea, sorry B-(>
(I'm surprised that Mp3s aren't playable "right out of the box" under windows, though!)

  • Single black frame in enhanced podcast rendered in GarageBand.

When a podcast created in Garageband is exported or shared with itunes, the resultant  .mov and .m4a are jpeg w/aac and will have occasional black frame at a chapter marker.
The chapters  are created by droping  images into the podcast track. These tiff images created from grab captures of screen shots. The audio is an mp3.
Anybody have any suggestions or ideas of cause?
    OS and iLife are uptodate.

Hi there, thanks for your advices. Unfortunately, none of them worked out.
The problem must be at some point where the screenpast part gets rendered out of Premiere. I recorded the screencast in Camtasia, rendered it out as an MP4 with H.264, imported the clip to Premiere, editetd everything together with other footage, and when exporting it out of Premiere (no matter what format), it all got messed up.
So I did the screencast again, the settings where the same and "suddenly" (well, after hours of swearing and rendering) the black frame was gone after the Premiere render. Still don't know what the actual problem was. Just hope it doesn't happen again because it's such a waste of time with all the rendering.

  • HELP: I have an impossibly long rendering time after converting .MP4 files from Go Pro Camera to .MOV on Final Cut Pro 7. PLEASE ADVISE.

I am working on a project and shot guerilla style footage with a Go Pro camera, which produced .MP4 files incompatible with FCP7. When I converted the files to .MOV, I realized the rendering time in the sequence editor is impossibly long. I am working with a deadline and the rendering time exceeds the deadline, let alone editing time. Suggestions???

Telling us you converted to .mov doesn't tell us much. MOV is a container that supports a very wide range of codecs. It is the specific CODEC that matters.
You most likely did not convert the material to a FCP7 native format. ProRes is recommended and, given the compression of the GoPro, ProRes LT would be the best choice.
Use Compressor to convert everything to ProResLT and life will be much simpler.

  • AME CS6 rendering with AE and Pr takes too long

    Hi Guys,
Need some help here. i have rendered a 30 secs mp4 video with 1920 x 1080 HD format 25 frames w/o scripting in AME for 4 hours!
Why does it take too long? I have rendered a 2 minute video with same format w/ scripting but only spare less than 30 minutes for rendering.
Im using After Effects and Premium Pro both CS6 and using Dynamic Link in AME.
What seems to be wrong in my current settings?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

This may be a waste of time, but it won't take a minute and is something you should always do whenever things go strangely wrong  ............ trash the preferences, assuming you haven't done it already.
Many weird things happen as a result of corrupt preferences which can create a vast range of different symptoms, so whenever FCP X stops working properly in any way, trashing the preferences should be the first thing you do using this free app.
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/prefman/
Shut down FCP X, open PreferenceManager and in the window that appears:-
    1. Ensure that only  FCP X  is selected.
    2. Click Trash
The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X.
There is absolutely no danger in trashing preferences and you can do it as often as you like.
The preferences are kept separately from FCP X and if there aren't any when FCP X opens it automatically creates new ones  .  .  .  instantly.

  • MP4 files won't play in mobile browser?

I have a media file, MP4, which plays fine on desktop browsers.  But on the iPhone4 and on Android 2.2 mobile devices this media file won't play within the browser.  I get a broken link where the embedded video should be playing.  I am using proper object/embed tags per a previous successful attempt I made doing this and I cross referenced my classid to one that was posted online to make sure I didn't miss any syntax.  What could be going wrong?  Did I encode the mp4 incorrectly?  If so, then why does a 3gp file that I rendered FROM the broken mp4 play within the mobile devices without a hitch?
    Sincerely,
    markerline

Are you sure you have Photoshop Elements 8 and not Photoshop Premier elements 8?  I would have thought that MP4 files can be played in Premier elements (PE) rather than Photoshop elements (PSE).  PSE is for photos and PE is for movies and videos.
Perhaps you could try installing the trial version of PE13 to see if anything changes.  I am not into movies and all that so my answer is just a guess work.

  • Avi vs mp4

    Hi,
I experience very big file size difference rendering to avi or mp4.
I always believed avi files would be smaller than mp4 my adobe premiere 10  gives other result. Am I doing something wrong here? And what are the pros and cons to avi or mp4?
    Thanks for replying,
    Koen

In addition to what Steve and John have offered, the two main determinants of AV file size are:
    Duration
    Bit-Rate
The CODEC used has a little effect, but mostly they allow for the data to be compressed, yet still leave acceptable quality. The lower the Bit-Rate, the lower the quality, but also the smaller the file.
Where CODEC's differ is by the allowable compression of the data, coupled with the acceptable quality. Some are better at the compression, than are others. The H.264 CODEC, usually found in MP4 wrappers, is very good at giving one acceptable quality, but still compressing with lower Bit-Rates.
Many of the CODEC's, commonly found in the AVI wrapper, are not quite so good, so to get the higher quality (read higher Bit-Rate), the files' sizes WILL be larger. One exception is the DivX CODEC, which does yield good quality, and lower Bit-Rates, and can compress the data very well. However, this CODEC is designed for delivery of streaming media, and is NOT meant to be edited later.
Editability is a big plus for the H.264 CODEC, and that is why it is used in so many HD formats, like AVCHD (a sub-set of H.264), today.
However, and with all of that said, there are major variations in H.264, so there are few universal specs. With DV-AVI, a particular CODEC, in the AVI wrapper, things are much simpler - the MicroSoft DV CODEC is standard, and uses low-compression, and higher Bit-Rates, to keep quality high, but at the sacrifice of file size.
There ARE a few CODEC's, usually wrapped as an AVI, like Lagarith Lossless and UT Lossless, that maintain lossless qualtiy, while still doing a good job at compression, but no where near as good, as most versions of H.264 - however, and just as their names imply, they are "visually" lossless - great quality, though at higher Bit-Rates and with larger file sizes, than most versions of H.264. For intermediate files, that will be edited later, I rely heavily on both of those lossless CODEC's. With the proper CODEC's installed, they both edit very, very well too. Also, one can do many generations of Encoding, without a noticeable loss in quality, where that is not true with H.264, where the compression will show an accumulation of a loss in quality, because of the high compression.
    Hope that helps,
    Hunt

  • CS6 crash while rendering

    Hi,
recently CS 6 crashes while rendering, this happens at the beginning (ca. 800 frames), i change from GPU to CPU, deletet the cache files, try a different sequence
with other videos, all the same
in task manager i can't kill the premiere prozess
after crashing only the power/reset button helps
the strange is, at the same time my complete network crashes to ??
    Windows 7 pro
    16GB RAM
    Genforce GTX570 Driver 340.52
    Intel i7-2600K
With Media Encore there are no problems.
    can someone help me ?

The problem with PP CS6 crashing during render has increased from once in a while to where it cannot complete any renders.
---->>> Encoding to H.264 MP4. Seems to do fine on AVI renders. H.264 MP4 is the key to the problem. <<<---
The error that it is reporting says that the "output directory could not be found", but the problem is the same when rendering to a different (not RAID) drive. Does not crash with AVI render. Replaced H.264 Codec -->> No change. Crashed at 90% of a 50 second file render to lowest level MP4 file.
It is not the motherboard - Replaced Gigabyte with ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
It is not the CPU - Replaced AMD 6 core with AMD 8 core FX
It is not heat. Cabinet is cool, all fans are running, no dust, no blockage.
It is not power supply - Replaced 750 W power supply with 850 W power supply.
It is not memory - Increased memory from 16GB to 32 GB, Computer repair shop rotated and tested memory.
It is not virus (no email on this machine, current virus protection and security software).
It is not drive space - Increased RAID from 2TB to 8 TB - Problem actually got worse - (crashes sooner)
It is not the video card - drivers verified correct by Nvidia - (Quadro 4000) -  tested by installing a different video card - No change.
It is not software install - Uninstalled total CS6 package and reinstalled.
It is not a specific render file - It will not complete any renders now.
It is not a recent software install - The only software that has been updated is Adobe but that was ruled out by the total uninstall/reinstall. Backup install on a laptop is able to complete renders on the files that crash on the "big" machine. Nothing new has been installed. Virus and SpyBot show "clear".
It is not the CUDA or Mercury setting - Tested with CUDA on and off.
It's not the Playback settings - Tested for GPU Acceleration and Mercury Playback Engine Software only.
It is not the C: drive - Replaced with SSD.
Ran while watching Performance Monitor - No hint of problem before crash point. (video available).
    So, what are we missing?
    Windows 7 Pro
    64 Bit
    32 GB Ram
    8 TB RAID
    ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
    AMD FX8350 (8 core)
    Performance Score: 7.1
    Power Supply 850 W.

  • Mini Concern

    Hi,
I have been using my mini as a replacement for my xp box for almost a year now, and it is continuing to amaze me day after day. I just, however, encountered an experience which has left me feeling slightly concerned. I rendered some Garageband work to iTunes whilst listening to a song in iTunes and talking to my friend on MSN Messenger. During all of this fairly hard drive intensive activity, I noticed that my system started making a whistling / screaming sound. At first I considered this to be my noisy power brick but to my surprise it was in-fact coming from within the minis shell. I considered that the sound was coming from my 80-Gig Seagate hard drive and thus I quit every running app on my mac. The sound didn't stop. I then shutdown the system and re-started it and the sound is no longer present, however, I have never throughout the one year that I have had my mini heard this sound and it does raise an issue of concern.
I checked the system profiler and it stated "S.M.A.R.T" status verified, whatever this means. I must also add that I have had my mini running for around four days, with the hard drives being allowed to sleep whenever possible. Should I worry about the health of my system from this simple experience, or should I understand that hard drives often make these sounds and there is nothing to worry about at all?
Thanks in advance for any help
    -Pos

The fan could easily create the sort of noise you describe, if it's not totally healthy in itself. Dry bearings, or dirt/dust on the thrust face can cause remarkably dire-sounding effects that vary by temperature, vibration caused by other components, even small variations in voltage or load.
Without taking the lid off, I doubt there's any way to be sure where inside the box the noise originates, and identifying where the sound is coming from is made harder by the fact it will 'leak' out the optical drive slot and ventilation holes more readily than through the casing.
You might try and recreate the the conditions that gave rise to the noise the last time, and see if it happens again. If it's the fan, you would normally be able to change the noise by putting the system on it's side (thus changing the bearing's thrust face). One thing I think is invariably true - that if the hard drive were to make that sort of noise, it very likely would be a precursor to imminent failure. You might therefore want to boot up from the install disc, and run the disc utility from there, selecting the option to 'repair disc' (you can't run this option from the disk utility on the hard drive because you can't repair the boot disc). This will check the drive out and find any signs of the sort of damage that is commonly experienced prior to drive failure.

  • Adobe Encore CS5.1 producing DVDs with flickering video

Hey all, new to the forums but been using Adobe software for a couple of years now.
I've got Encore CS5.1 as part of the Adobe Master Collection CS5.5, and recently I've been using it to burn DVD videos.
I made a video in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 a few weeks ago and rendered it as an mp4 file in h.264 HDTV 24fps (video recorded with my Nikon D3200 D-SLR). I then imported the mp4 file into Encore as an asset (I didn't use Dynamic Link to insert the prproj file into Encore) and burned it onto a 4.7GB DVD (no menus or anything, just a simple DVD) and it looked absolutely fine on both my PC and on the TV and the recipient of the DVD was very happy with the result. The video was 28 minutes long and 6.2GB in size.
Recently I have been making more videos in Premiere Pro CS5.5 and attempting to burn them onto DVDs using Encore CS5.1, but I've not been having so much luck.
Whenever I create a DVD with Encore, the video playback is always a bit 'flickery' no matter how I import the video into Encore (have tried using both Dynamic Link and importing the mp4 file as an asset - both result in the same problem). The video playback results in flickering lines and it's really distracting. Again, I am rendering in mp4 h.264 HDTV 24fps and burning onto 4.7GB DVDs. If I watch the video in Encore on the Monitor, it also looks a bit flickery with lines showing. The video I am trying to burn onto a DVD is 25 minutes long and 4GB (but Encore transcodes it so it's just over 1GB in size I think).
I am also trying to burn another video onto a DVD which again is rendered in h.264 but is 48 minutes and 11GB in size (Encore transcodes it so it's about 2.5GB) and the same thing happens: flickery lines which is really distracting.
I did briefly have a trial version of CS6 installed and I rendered the video again in Premiere Pro CS6 and tried burning to a DVD using Encore CS6, but still got the same results. I don't have CS6 now, I installed it purely to see if CS5.5 was the problem.
I don't understand why the first video I burned to DVD using Encore was perfect and now it seems to be giving me flickery video once it's burned to a DVD whenever I use it.
I have updated it to version 5.1.0.342 which at the time of writing is the latesrt version of CS5.1.
If anybody out there could help me that would be great, thanks!

Still flickering on Encore even when rendered in MPEG-2 DVD in Pemiere Pro CS5.5. Looks perfect in Premiere Pro.
    Any other ideas?
EDIT: Was looking for Google for people with similar problems to me and I came across this http://forums.adobe.com/message/3959757?tstart=0
I am currently re-rendering the video in PAL DV Widescreen MPEG-2 DVD and using maximum render quality.

  • Applying transitions in the timeline

Hi, I have recently created a dvd of videos and stills but when viewed on a tv the stills are pixelated. I originally created the sequences in premiere and rendered them out as mp4, to use in encore. However, when the the movie is played the still images look pixelated and in some it very noticeable.
So i thought i would just try and create the whole thing in encore, i'm not doing anything complicated just putting stills and videos together with music and with fade transistions between each clip.
Putting the assets together is no problem but i can't find away to apply transitions between clips in encore. I know you can in a slideshow, but a slideshow doe snot accept video files.
It seems really absurd to be that i can't create a still/video mix without one type being bad quality.
I am aware that this post could go in the premiere forum but hoped someone here might have an answer for me.
I am renerding out my sequences from premiere as mp4s h.264, as they produced a descent file size and didn't degrade in quality when compared to an avi or mov.
    Any ideas would be apprecitated
    Thanks,

I am using the cs4 suite.
I am not trying to create a bluray disc, i don't have a bluray writer or reader, i just got the best output and smallest size using h.264; instead of 800MB or sometimes over a GB for about 6mins of footage, i got it reduced to 200MB. I am a bit unsure of the best formats for this type of thing.
My output size is 720x480 as that is the size of the videos taken, they are in avchd format, and each picture is scaled down using PRs "scale to frame size" function, all of the pictures are good quality either from a DLSR or similar so the qulaity of the images before render is not the issue.
What is the best export format from PR for a mix of still images, audio and video? The images look good on my computer screen just not on the tv or when projected.
    Thanks for all your help

  • Quad Color Screen in Premiere Pro CC

    Hey guys!
I'm working on a project that is made up of both mp4 files and pro res 422hq files. The mp4 files were provided by our client from youtube/vimeo. After rendering some of the mp4 files will be replaced with a quad color rainbow esque screen. I'm wondering why this is happening. My company has been working in premiere for the past 7 months and no has seen this type of screen before. Is this something that is a result of the videos being rips? I'm working on a Mac Pro 2.66GHz Quad-Core Intel Xneon.
Thanks in advance for any insight!

  • Juddering, or dropped frames? Remedy?

I apologize in advance for the length of this post! I also apologize if this isn't the right place for this (I'm not really sure if this is a problem with Flash Player, or just something I'm doing wrong at a base level).
I feel I should note that I'm pretty inexperienced when it comes to movies and filmmaking in general. That being said I've done quite a bit of research over this past month trying to get to the bottom of this problem I'm having.
Here's the rundown: I'm making a video not from actual footage but from a 3D animation I've made. The animation was rendered out in a JPEG sequence (so plenty of control there). It's then taken to post and rendered out as an mp4 (Youtube's preferred format and settings). The video plays smoohtly on the computer, great. Once uploaded to YouTube though? Extreme juddering..or dropped frames? Uh oh.
    Video:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bWEmjfOjYA
First thought? Well this is somehow Youtube's fault. Let the video buffer completely, tried different settings in the player. No dice. Try Vimeo. Still there. Maybe these sites are doing something to the video when they compress it down? Download the mp4 off of YouTube. Plays fine on PC(offline/out of flash player). Well then...
Secound thought: This is Flash Player's fault. Plenty of evidence to back up this thought too. If I use YouTube's HTML5 feature it plays fine. If I play it in flash player on my PC it judders. I've seen some other videos on YouTube (mostly one's similar to mine) judder in the same way. But...then why do some video's on YouTube play absolutely fine?
HTML5 video:  A week ago adding "&html5=True" to the end of a video link (that wasn't ad enabled) worked, now it seems not to. You'll have to goto youtube.com/html5 and enable html5 viewing then revisit the video above.
Third thought: Okay okay..This is somehow my fault. And it very well may be. At the end of my metaphorical rope, while doing a final bit of research, I learned that -any- movie at 24fps panning like my video does will judder; and that filmmakers use various techniques (or just avoid it) to compensate. Well that's fair. I had no idea this was an actual thing. But..My video runs at 30fps, and runs smoothly on the computer (and much smoother in html5 than it does in flash). So..That sort of unravels that theory also.
I've exhausted all the theories, settings, and fixes I can think of. Logic has long since left the building! And my boss is none too pleased that I haven't "just fix this thing already" yet.
Any help, even just a point to a direction where I can possibly find some help, is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

I think I would agree to some extent that AppleTVs do not give as smooth playback of video as say DVD players or BluRay.  I'm quite sensitive to this kind of thing and don't see it as frequently as you point out, but I can certainly appreciate that the silky smooth motion I get from DVD and Blu Ray is sometimes lacking.
Encoding quality can have a major part to play, as I guess can decoding algorithms which can change (AppleTV1's did causing major blocky artefacts with some Handbrake settings).
Maybe the problem is that AppleTV probably does most decoding and rendering in software not hardware unlike other dedicated machines, but we don't know for certain.
My main bugbear is poor colour depth causing banding in dark/light areas with iTunes store encoding that I rarely see with my own video.
The problem unfortunately is potentially multifactorial, and when you add in artefact from motion processing circuitry/scalers in TVs it can be difficult to pin down.
As I said I'm pretty sensitive to video artefacts, maybe you more so, but I don't think it should be as bad as you suggest.
I bet your friends were really happy when you pointed out the issue - it's a bit like seeing rainbow effect with DLP projectors - ignorance is bliss, but once you know you look for it....

  • Powermac G5 freeze REASONS

Everyone using Powermac Dual or Single may suffer from crashes or freeze suddenly. I would like to draw everyone attention that the cause was merely by USB port behind which we usually attach with Apple Pro Keyboard.
I suffered this for at least 5 months but my Powermac have not join Apple Care after warranty expired and I was headached all along coz' the crash and freeze is abnormal!!! I ran all test using utility but none error found, also doubt if my Kingston RAM incompatible with Powermac and tried many resetting PMU but none can't solve the problem really. So until today I plug out all USB device including APPLE keyboard from behind and let the powermac rendering IDVD and playing MP4 movie at the same times and found out without anythg attached, the system is very stable and seldom heard the crazy noisy fan spinning which we all heard after it freeze or crash.
Then I tried to use the front USB port for keyboard ( with anther USB 2.0 hub with power), then it solved entirely. Coz' I bought a Microsoft notebook wireless mouse attached on Apple keyboard after my mighty mouse got out of order 3 months ago and suddenly one day after it freeze several time and I reboot the PC, the wireless mouse seems very sluggish and I need to use extension cable to connect the USB dongle almost touch with the mouse then it work and I returned the wiremouse to dealer and they found that the dongle was so-how got burnt by unknown reasons. So today I just followed this clue to look out again and what a coincidenc to find an old thread posted in 2005 by someone who pointed the same thgs about the USB port behind the tower connecting Apple keyboard would cause Powermac freeze.
So anyone suffer form this can try out if this way work , if so, plse every one send a complain to Apple.
