Rendering is killing me!!!

I have this clip of 1 hr. and its on
29.97fps
frame size 720x480
compressor dv/dvcpro-ntsc
data rate 3.6 mb/sec
pixel aspect ntsc-ccir601
and my sequence its set to
frame size 720x480
aspect ratio ntsc dv (3:2)
pixel aspect ratio ntsc.ccir 601/dv (720x480)
compressor dv/dvcpro-ntsc
and when i get my clip into the timeline i just get audio but no video, and the lines that shows if its render or not are not red, so i dont know what is going on. help please!!! thanks!!

I'm blind. Listed that twice, so I am DOUBLE blind. Sheesh!
You double click on it to load it into the Viewer and see nothing? But hear the audio?
Click on the % above the window and select FIT TO WINDOW?
I dunno...

  • AME CC 2014 Rendering with only One Core

This seems to have just begun recently (within the past month) where AME CC 2014 is only using 1 core (out of 12) to render video. No, this is not the CPU Parking issue - I have made the regedit tweaks and also changed my Power option to Performance, all with no difference in AME. Premiere Pro CC 2014 renders the same video just fine using all 12 cores, so it seems this problem lies not with Windows software, nor Premiere Pro, but just AME CC 2014. Was there a recent AME update that might have included this bug?
Adobe, please look into this and resolve it ASAP. Not being able to queue up video renders is killing my productivity.

I just installed Premiere Pro CC 2014 this week and had the same problem, my media encoding time tripled (3 times longer).
The same sequence in Premiere Pro CC (Old Media Encoder ) still encoded at its normal fast speed.
Only one of my eight cores was running during encoding in Premiere Pro CC 2014.
After making the registry changes (below) all eight cores were running and Premiere Pro CC 2014 Encoder was back to normal speed.
    Read Below:
I did a search and found this link below.
Go to this link below and read.
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1506298
After you have read the Adobe Forum link above, go to this link below.
This registry change is for Windows 7, I'm not sure about Windows 8
The registry link may be different but you can still look.
Than call Adobe and have their tech go to this link below.
Than have them suggest what to do.
I did call Adobe back and told them it fixed my problem and they were appreciative and said they would pass it on to all their techs.
    http://ultimatecomputers.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3644
    Just a note,
I was in touch with Adobe earlier this week with this same problem.
I gave them control of my computer (from India) and after an hour the tech concluded it must be my video card causing the problem.
I am using a Nvidia GTX 560Ti, which is not a certified card. I preformed the card hack.
After getting off the phone with them I did some additional test and found that my old AME rendered my sequences with all eight cores.
The new AME CC 2014 was only using one core.
This registry change above keeps all the cores running.
After I made the change all the cores were running during encoding and the speed was back to normal.
    Hope this helps,

  • RSRT, RSRV Testing

    Hi Friends,
Can any one please tell me.
Do we have any danger if we use all sort of functionality in RSRV , RSRT for BW objects or Report in Production server. Some times i am feeling that it is harmful when i do things things like repiar..But i donot know..
Please tell me if any limitations are available??
    Thanks
    Tony

It depends on what you are changing or playing around with.
For RSRT, it's great for testing Queries with.  You can also change the performance of a query under the 'Properties' tab.
If you switch the Read Mode to 'A' - 'Query to Read All Data at Once', it can really kill the query performance.  Instead of reading data with each navigation, it reads it all before it loads.  It will speed up navigation after the report has rendered, but kill the load time.
The 'Generate Report' button can be used with the report has become corrupt.  It will regenerate the report.  It hasn't happened many times, but I've had reports that just failed to run when no change has been made.  Regenerating the report fixed it.
Execute + Debug is a lifesaver when you need to trace user exits in your report.  It has a lot of neat options.
RSRV can help you find problems with your InfoProviders.  Just last week, one of my ODS objects had a bad activation.  I was able to run an analysis and allow the system to correct my error.  If you are unsure of the change, you can always not 'correct error' and view the log of the analysis.

  • Importing and re-editing movies

I'm doing a little school video project that requires re-editing some films on DVD. To do this, I need to know...
What is the best way to import a movie from DVD to a file format that can be edited in FCP without rendering, or killing my external harddrive (750gigs)?
What is the best way to convert video files already on my computer into files FCP can handle? What settings should I use?
Thanks in advance for the answers!

    Hi there
There are many ways of doing this. You can as mentioned 'rip out' the DVD compressed content using one of the free utility SW out there, or you can play the DVD and 'dub' it back to DV tape (this might be an option for you, if you don't want to use your hard drive. But if you do so, you may need to re-capture the 'now tape content' to your scratch disk [internal or external HD]) or last but not least, if you know the person who initially edited the footage, you may if (s)he still have the raw material - that worked for me once.
In regard to your Memory concern, I recommend that you always capture your Media files to external scratch disk (Hard drive).
    Good luck!

  • Equipment suggestions for FC-HD

I'd appreciate your suggestions... I'm about to get involved in editing a lot of footage and I'll need to cut down on my turn around time. You can see below what kind of equipment I'm using. I've gone back and forth with iMovie and Final Cut, though my partner will also be using Final Cut so I'll be committed to FC. I know from experience how slow this is, and I'll definitely be looking to speed things up. : My question to you pro's is this: Can I speed things up by just adding another ext. drive, or is upgrading to a dual G5 really the answer? In the dream world, I spend the money picked off the tree out back. It's the rendering that kills my time, so I'm not sure if a dedicated external drive is the answer or not.
    Thanks.
Extra info: I already have 1-160 gig & 1-250 gig Lacie drives.

Anyway: I just extended this question to a new post because my scenario may change a bit. I may be doing the editing while traveling and looking at the macbook pro, but after hours of reading, i'm concerned. All the "universal" upgrade issues and "noise" stories worry me if I'm on a plane editing. I don't know which to purchase, Macbook or PPC.
To finish your questions (X), it'll be 8-15 minute segments, small to mid effects, raw and imported footage, and I have yet discussed the delivery medium with my tech guy. So hopefully you can continue sharing your wisdom with the addition to my question. So much thanks.

    hi sekhar,
RSRT is to scan the query as to how the query gets executed, whether it uses aggregates or cubes, full table scan or uses index, etc.

  • [Solved] xcompmgr -- Drag events kill XOrg rendering (xcompmgr crash)

To fix a problem I was having with direct draw applications glitching/ghosting https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 1#p1384701 I implemented the fix I documented.
Now, direct draw drag events kill all rendering in XOrg. It seems xcompmgr just silently dies and I have to kill and restart XOrg to get it working again. A simple example of this is dragging an image in Firefox. Input still works and the window manager is fine (I can still spawn terminals with my hotkeys). Killing xcompmgr doesn't fix the problem nor does restarting it.
Anyone have any suggestions beyond switching to compiz/nouveau?

So I've managed to solve my problem.
Thanks anonymous_user, you set me on the right path with the suggestion of compton. I checked its man page and it has abolished the -a flag. Didn't know why. Turns out, it's buggy and prone to these crashes.
I'll edit my solution in my linked post noting what I've done.
Thanks a million to you again anonymous_user, and you too headkase! You two are what make these forums amazing.

  • GOING TO KILL MYSELF!CLIPS STOP RENDERING! HELP!

I am ready to jump off a tall builing! I created a movie, spend hours editing clips, then all of a sudden the clips stopped rendering. I gave it a whole day to try and complete, b/c I was terrified of closing the progam and losing everything. Well, it's like it just froze. The little red line stopped moving. So I ended up losing the entire movie. I tried to get it out of the trash, but the strangest things is that all of the clips were reduced to 00.00.01 secs. In other words, completely invisisble. I couldn't stretch them back to their original size of about 1.2 secs. So I decided to start the whold **** movie from scratch again. I HAVE TO FINISH THIS PROJECT! So I go to import all of my clips (still and movie), and sure enough, about half render, but the rest are stuck. The red bar stopped half-way in the middle of one picture. WHAT IS GOING ON? PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE! THIS IS RUINING MY LIFE!!!

    Hi John -
"...When you are in the middle of a project, never use Software Update...."
That is sound advice, especially regarding iMovie itself. Not that it does create problems, but rather that it might.
The original poster does not say whether or not recent updates have been installed, or even if they have, whether the project pre-dated that installation.
And the wording of your comment suggested that it was necessary to return to earlier versions not only of QT but also of iMovie and the OS!
I too have noted that some seem to have had problems after the latest QT update, indeed I initiated a topic to check out the extent of this. Most people who responded had no problems at all, so I up-dated my laptop version. It is running flawlessly, and yes, KB imports perfectly.
My initial response to you was simply to point out that it was rather too dogmatic to state that the update was definitely the cause of the problem.
By the way, just how many is 'countless'?:-)

  • Insufficient disk space for rendering - about to kill myself

I have two clips on my timeline. Quicktime clips. I just want to render them. It says I have insufficient disk space for rendering, try cleaning out files and trying again. I deleted everything in my render files, everything in the final cut pro documents. My hard drive has 199 GB of free space. Together in total these clips are under 4 minutes. Why in the name of all that is holy is 200 GB of space not enough for rendering? If you can answer that or tell me what to do, I'll give you my first born child.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Without full system info (computer, OS, FCE and QT versions, external devices, etc. along with specifics of the QuickTime clips), this is just guesswork. Is there another hard drive involved? Could your FCE System Settings have your render files going to a drive that's almost full?

  • Background Rendering is slowly killing me

I'm working on an unusual project in FCPX.  I have a multi-track project 14 minute project.  Each of these tracks has a duration of 7 to 14 minutes.  There is one full screen background track and the others are scaled and tiled over it.
The problem I'm having is that every time I make a small trim, adjustment or add some titles Background rendering kicks in and tries to re-render the entire project.  Once started, it's nearly impossible to stop the Background rendering and it takes over an hour to complete.
What is the negative impact of turning Background Rendering off?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to better approach this project to make the editing quick and painless?

It is strange what you are saying about being difficult to stop background rendering - unless you are not actually aware of what background rendering is. Actually, "background" rendering in FCP X is more "idle" rendering, in that it is supposed to stop when you are actually working on your project; so "nearly impossible to stop" it should not be. Move your playhead, skim, open the inspector, do just about anything and it should silently stop for you, so as to not interrupt your work.
Also you should have no problem if you choose to disable it. You can either render it manually before export, or not at all. Contrary to popular misconception, you don't have to explicitly render before exporting. It may or may not take longer to export, but it will export correctly, even if the timeline is not rendered beforehand.

  • ITunes Killed my iPod

I just installed iTunes update/version 7.6 and it killed my iPod. My computer is not recognized by any computer now. I plugged my iPod into 5 different computers and none saw the iPod. All are running Windows XP Pro, and 3 had iTunes 7.6 and 2 had iTunes 7.5. My son had not updated to iTunes 7.6 and his Nano works fine on all computers. So the problem evidently is that iTunes did something to the iPod. I hope Apple figures out a quick, $0 fix since their problem rendered a lot of iPods useless. If they don't, a lot of loyal iPod owners may be converting to a Zune very quickly. If anyone knows a fix, I would really appreciate some help. Thanks.

I just fixed the problem by doing a hard reset on the Nano. Turn the Nano on, then simultaneously push Menu and center button, holding them down until the iPod reboots itself.

  • Portal rendering errors using IE10

    Hi,
We've recently patched all of our SAP systems (portal and backend) and checked we're at the requisite level for IE10 support in the PAM.
We're currently in the process of testing all of our applications for IE10 compliance and have identified two issues which someone may have experienced or can advise upon:
Issue 1) SAP Transaction iView (ITS) raising following error in popup dialog box 'The application was stopped due to a critical rendering error.  The IE compatibility view is not supported (Note 1586993).'
This iView connects from our portal (EP 7.0 EHP2 SP14) to a backend SAP ERP (ECC) system patched to NW EHP3 (SP09).
Note 1586993 is not particularly helpful as it simply states 'The administrator must assure, that IE frame content is compatible and correctly configured'.
Additional research identified note 1970427 which I have applied to the backend system - subsequently I added application parameter 'sap-ie=EmulateIE8' to the iView (both within the iView config and at runtime) but this made no difference to the behaviour.
I checked the user's framework page and the 'Browser Document Mode' iView is linked in and has it's property set to 'IE=EmulateIE7'.  I tried moving this iView further up the order sequence (i.e. putting it first) as well as changing it's setting to 'IE=EmulateIE8' but once again this had no effect on the behaviour.
I notice when logging into the portal, at first the F12 console shows Browser Mode = 'IE10', Document Mode = 'IE5 quirks' but when the problematic iView renders, the Document Mode changes to 'Quirks' which I'm assuming is why the error occurs.
I'm not sure what I can do to make the iView render in 'IE5 quirks' mode?
This iView is called dynamically at runtime with some URL parameters that are passed to the backend transaction so I cannot follow the advice in note 1590563.
Issue 2) BSP iView for 'CRM Web Interaction Centre' - all F4 dialog popups are displaying empty with no content, e.g. Inbox search help for classification field
This iView connects from our portal (EP 7.0 EHP2 SP14) to a backend SAP CRM system patched to NW EHP2 (SP04).
I tried setting my user parameter CRM_THTMLB_IE_COMP to 'IE8' but this had no effect.
Note, if I set the IE10 property 'Display intranet sites in Compatibility View' both issues above are resolved.  We're trying to avoid this as we've had this setting in place for a number of years and it affects the correct operation of non-SAP applications.  Given there are numerous ways of making SAP operate by emulating older compatible IE versions, I expected we could work around needing to do this but it may be a last resort.
Please offer any advice you can as it will be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Alan

    Hi Lawrence,
We have a mixture of custom and SAP standard portal applications developed over the past 10 years.
UI technologies include: Java Server Pages, Web Dynpro Java, ITS, BSP, Web Dynpro ABAP and BEx.
Quite honestly, the portal hasn't proved to be the best SAP product in our experience, and we've tried hard to keep it patched up-to-date. OK, it offers integration and navigation but that capability is offered by the Fiori Launchpad, albeit presenting new challenges and possibly some limitations on the integration of existing applications.
We could have opted to integrate the Fiori Launchpad with the portal but decided it was cleaner to perform a standalone installation on our newly built NetWeaver Gateway server.
We're starting our Fiori journey by implementing selected SAP delivered apps for the first pilot projects then plan to replace or migrate existing portal applications.
We'll replace any custom Java apps with UI5 apps built in-house as we need to rationalise UI technologies and this one is a prime candidate given the lack of in-house skills and SAP direction.
Our expenses application is currently an SAP ITS transaction iView in the portal but will be replaced with the My Travel and Expenses Fiori app this year.
CRM Transaction Launch isn't used often so we may kill it off.
BSP's are solely in the CRM area and I read they're not supported yet in the launchpad - hopefully they will be in a future version (?).
We have quite a few Web Dynpro ABAP applications so these will take some time to rewrite if required (assuming we cannot port them).
BEx may be replaced with Business Objects or taken out of the portal in favour of the Excel version we also run (portal offers little value for massive reports so users download to Excel in any case).
My understanding is that the Fiori Launchpad does support integration of legacy SAP technologies so we'll need to gauge if and when we each a tipping point where any remaining portal applications can either be integrated with the launchpad or replaced with alternative new applications. Obviously all of the above will take time.
We're working on developing a custom Fiori/UI5 theme and have hit a few snags. We've just patched to SP09 on our development Gateway system but the UI Theme Designer is still a bit flaky (we run the tool there but could also do this on our portal). My colleague is now trying the cloud version to see if that proves a more viable route. In either case we'll be seeking SAP assistance as we really want our UI5 apps to adopt recently developed corporate branding rules. Our portal currently uses a copy of Gold Reflection with simply the SAP logo replaced for our company's logo.
If you have any further queries just let me know, or similarly advice/experience on the above.
    Hope this helps.

  • Creative Cloud 1.8.0.447 update seems to kill Photoshop CC 2014

I been using Photoshop CC 2014 on a Macbook Pro 17" since it was released without incident (system was running 10.9.4, now 10.9.5; it has 16 gigs ram and a 500 mb SSD).  In the last few days, I updated Creative Cloud to 1.8.0.447, and that seems to have killed Photoshop CC 2014 (the most recent version--I keep it up to date).
When starting Photoshop CC 2014, I receive an error that the program failed to initialize due to a program error.  This happens the majority of the time (85%+).  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop CC 2014, but that made no difference.  The only way around this seems to be pressing Command+Option+Shift while starting Photoshop, at which point I lose my settings (and it's not practical for me to keep reapplying my settings).  This was occurring under OS X 10.9.4, and I figured I had nothing to lose by upgrading to 10.9.5 (which I did last night).  However, I continue receiving the error and having to wipe out settings in order to start Photoshop.
I've checked the PSErrorLog.txt file for when the error occurs, and it reads:
    2014:10:08 20:53:13 : /Volumes/workarea/PS_15_Mac_Daily_Retail/20140926.r.236/photoshop/main/photoshop/sources/ PSOWLListenerProxyBase.cpp : 54 : REQUIRE failed
I've further narrowed down the problem to the switching graphics cards.  When the system is forced into the AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphic card, Photoshop starts.  When it has to switch between the Intel HD Graphics 3000 adapter the AMD Radeon, Photoshop seems to choke on itself.
For whatever reason, Photoshop CC seems not to have been impacted by the Creative Cloud update, and it continues to work.  I'm seriously considering downgrading back to Photoshop CC until such time as Photoshop CC 2014 is stable again.
Does anyone have any suggestions for correcting the failure to initialize error so that I don't have to reapply my settings repeatedly?

I was able to resolve the issue by going into File>Project Settings>General and changing the Render from GPU Acceleration (OpenCL) to Software Only. It appears there is an issue with the AMD FirePro D500 graphics card. I was told by a call tech at Adobe that there are issues with the D300, D500, and D700 Graphics cards. However, I have an Intel Iris graphics card on my MacBook Pro and was having the same transparency issue. So, I'm skeptical that the issue is just with the graphics card. The transparency issue did not start on BOTH computers until the latest CC upgrade. For now, the Software Only renderer option fixes the issue. I hope to see a fix in the next CC update. FYI: The Renderer needs to be changed to Software Only in both Premiere Pro Project Settings and Media Encoder Preferences.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 4.2.1 Halts rendering whatever I ask!

    Hi there.
Finally I decided to post this.
I have been tracking in internet this situation for months... since PPro CS4 got out, I have been testing and working with it. However, I cannot say I prefer CS4 to other opponents (even one  or two Linux apps oddly).  The thing is when an app makes us spectate, we should have results! I cannot go back to previous releases of PPro because I need that queue in AME. So, let me beggin to explain the error:
The application (Premiere Pro CS4 or Adobe Media Encoder [AME]) halts forever when rendering video (a code loop? while "something"="some thing" then do "render frame again"?). So, happening the error in two aplications that use a bunch of files, I must say it is something used by booth like, my guess, PProHeadless. Moreover, the video it might have a filter or not, an opacity key, might be in a diferent format and created within adobe realm, or even outside like Fusion or Combustion, it can stop. And I say can because I am making tests these holy days to reach a conclusion: it's random. It might ocour in frame 150, or in 20 000, with some kind of format video or a filter or everything "as nature as" a PPro captured avi.
Graphics? Updated as today means. Windows? Up to date also! Adobe Premiere Pro? same thing as you already noticed.
This halt is documented by a png file atached to this post. With taskmanager also. That halt is typical. I am in windows 7 64bits, but also have winxp 64bits that produces the same error. The program can only be terminated by process kill and that sort of things.
As I have searched thoughout the internet, I have only seen a post in creative cows that appears similar to this. No luke for a solution yet. When update 4.2.0 came and I had an enormouse reliefe, thiinking it would "heal" the program... no good. I have not been able to respect some deadlines with clients. I will shift if necessary! At least the minimum would be an error ex spit by the program... nothing never came out. I'm blind and adobe might be also. All programs I've try to develop had error mannagement. CS4 release was something apparatuouse but could had wait for a 4.1.0 update in Premiere for instance...  I am really tempted for a mac! At least I know what should I buy to make a program run in there... just a mac!
As I see, no software seems to be the problem. It's a fresh install of windows 7 and PPro CS4. Nothing else installed in the system but flash, vlc, acrobat reader MSN live, calim av, proDVD mercalli
    Hardware bug or incopatability?
So... my specs if this helps:
    Processor:     AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ 2.21 GHz
    Ram:             5,00 GB 667Mhz
OS:               Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit Operating System
Graphic board: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE
MB:               Asus M2N-E with Serial 3Gb/s RAID
Disks:            1 SATA for OS.     SATA Disks for footage and project storage 7000 rotations all I think
I believe everything is Adobe PPro supported... so... where the hell is the problem?
    Thanks in advance!

    OK
I have been these days arround this issue. Done many troubleshooting... trying to understand problems. Here is what I got:
Getting the hauppauge board off the PC seems to have stopped the "halt" of the encoders and renderings in Premiere and AME. Hope it won't happen again, but, It's kind an exclusion game... What was diferent from the setups I have seen in many forums and posts was this ancient board. Adobe shoulde analyse this one against Premiere CS4 and AME: Hauppauge WinTV-Go bt848 conexant board (or it's a lost of time... as it's not supported anymore in Windows, but is in Linux :] ).
As for the playback... a fine tune for performance options of my graphic board was able to reduce the jerkiness of video... so I had the idea to also overclock both processor and graphics. The result is this:
Before: Processing of video with the timeline in view (default workspace) was allways 100%, skipping so many frames that even entire clips coundln't send a sigle frame. Where only the output frame (ç shortcut) playback was almost aceptable, with processing at 100% and some times going leaving a tiny space for other things to process.... The fine tune of graphics board, was able to get in default workspace the insertion of may more frames in there, and with ç shortcut - output full mode, it was 95-100 spiking frequently between them.
Now: Default workspace: 80% processing... Output frame: 60-70% My pc is now in test to seach for the optimal (aceptable) overclock parameters. And it seems I can overclock even more (not in graphics but the processor).
This is good and aceptable for the computer setup...
However, to everyone reading this, please be very carfull at how you overclock. Be shure you read everything you can find (from reliable sources - your hardware suppliers, as for the processor, the mother board, the graphic board... etc..). If you mess something, better you have the money to replace :].
    Thanks for everyting
